Chris and his crew did a wonderful job. We had trumpet vines growing up in our neighbors trees and Chris was able to remove vines and trim the trees on our property line. Chris was very reasonable and did a fantastic job and clean up. Definitely call Mack for your tree and heavy trimming needs. We have used them for years and always professional! read more

I had a very large Stone Pine tree (100+ ft tall) in my backyard. Chris and his crew of just three came on time got right to work. They temporarily removed (and replaced) a portion of fence to accommodate removal of tree. Start to finish 5 hrs. That includes clean up. After they left it looked like they were never here. Minus the tree. As far as value, they quoted the best price in the area and they're local to El Sobrante. A family owned business. I would highly recommend this business read more

I needed two 38 year old Ash trees thinned and lightened. Mack Tree Service provided a reasonable proposal, I accepted and we set a work date. The crew arrived on time and began trimming and opening spaces between the branches. They removed dead branches and seven hours later I had the most beautifully trimmed and lightened Ash trees. The crew chipped the branches they removed and performed an amazing cleaned up before they left. My beautifully trimmed Ash trees are the only remaining sign that Mack Tree Service was even here. Chris at Mack Tree Service is a professional. I highly recommend Mack Tree Service. read more

Professional and reasonably priced. Had them cut a tree yesterday that was shared with a neighbor I am not friendly with. Even the neighbors said what a nice job and how respectful they were of their property. Chris is such a nice guy. Definitely recommend. read more

My family has been doing business with Mack Tree for over 30 years. The original owner has now retired, but the crew he hired and trained are just as good as the original. Chris really knows trees. We had a liquid amber and several oaks that needed thinning and he and his crew got in and did a huge job in record time, and cleaned up every bit of mess. They even disposed of a dead skunk that was in the way! The price was very reasonable. I heartily recommend them. read more

Mack Tree is a excellent tree company. We used their services at our home in El Sobrante 2020. John the owner, is very personable he gave us a excellent price to remove two large trees, several Italian Cypress and various other tall bushes. His top flight crew showed up on time and took care of business. Jan 21, 2021 my sister hired John and his crew to removed a 30 foot plus tree and to trim another tree. They were on time, took care of business in a very short time. Cleaned up the area. My sister was very happy with the service they provided her. He even found time to trim my sister's neighbor's tree. John has a very good crew working for him. My sister and I found his prices to be very reasonable. You cannot go wrong with Mack Tree. read more

Chris and his team removed a large oak tree with roots headed toward the house's foundation and limbs overhanging the roof. As large branches came down, without a single branch hitting a nearby fence, the crew would cut and carry these out to the chipper. The work was efficient and effective with the tree stump gound down and excellent mulch (piled neatly) left for use in our raised planters. We were so pleased with the work, we asked Chris to return to remove an old and unhappy magnolia. This job was completed within a few hours with all branches and leaves cleaned up and hauled away. Great service at a very fair price. read more

I am a caretaker for an estate in Marin and I've used Mack Tree for all of our tree work for a number of years. Chris and his crew are extremely courteous and thorough and I have trusted them to do all of the tree removal and pruning work on the estate. Last February we had a 100 foot 98 year old cypress tree fall on the main entrance gate to the house and I was desperate to find someone who would come out and clear the tree from the gate so that the owners could exit with their car. I called Mack tree and Chris returned my call within 30 minutes. His crew were at the house in two hours. They worked until dark clearing the tree from the gate so that it could be opened and closed and then returned the next day to remove another large old cypress that had been compromised by the one that fell. read more

Thank you Jon and crew! They just finished a job we called about this week. Removed a tree that uprooted and fell on our shed in the backyard. Jon had been a customer of my husband's for a long time. We recently used Mack Tree Company to cut down two smaller trees and a very tall redwood tree, along with trimming a juniper tree and an oak tree. They also ground down the redwood tree stump. The crew was polite and very professional! They cleaned up after the job and left our property cleaner than before. Jon gave a reasonable estimate (10% discount because of our age) and followed through expeditiously. In short, Jon and his crew are excellent! Highly recommend Mack Tree Company! read more

This was a great experience overall. I needed multiple trees trimmed after years of neglect. John really knows his stuff when it comes to tree maintenance. He came by for an estimate and talked everything through with me. He made sure I understood the reasons for how they would trim certain trees. The guys that actually did the work were knowledgeable as well and were very responsive to my requests. They left my yard looking clean from debris and the trees are in great shape. I've used various tree trimming companies over the years with hits and misses, and I was quite satisfied with this company. The last company that I used topped off my trees, and it turned into a bushy mess. John explained the procedure clearly during the consultation to fix the issue, and when the crew came, they made a few strategic cuts to reduce the size of my huge oak trees without compromising the health of the tree. Next day, John called me make sure that I was satisfied with the job. I was very impressed by his courtesy and his professionalism. Five stars! read more

Chris came out on a Saturday morning to give me an estimate on his way to a job in Oakland. He and his crew came to remove an old pear tree the following Tuesday that had outgrown its space and was becoming problematic. They did a terrific job. They safely removed the tree, ground the stump, stacked the wood that I requested to keep and cleaned up. They were fast, efficient, respectful and very personable. I highly recommend arborist Chris and his crew. read more

Terrible experience. Ugly work to the detriment of the trees. Overconfident guys with a lack of sound horticultural knowledge. Maybe I'd consider to have them come to take out a tree but never have them "work" on a tree, aka butcher job. Actually, I take it back, I had a neighbor get a tree taken out by them and they took out another shrub next to it that they weren't supposed to do and butchered her oak! Terrible. I can feel the trees screaming. read more

John & his crew are amazing! The cost to trim our three trees here in Hercules was very very reasonable. Mack Tree has pruned, saved and removed trees from our home for about 20 years now. Just had a large cyprus come down on fence during last rain storm. All members with Mack tree have always been very professional and they leave a clean jobsite. I would always recommend Mack tree. read more

Wow. Just wow. John and his crew (Ceasar, Joe, Angel, and Dan) seriously rocked this job. I have a huge pine tree on the back of my lot that needed serious trimming to open the 180 view. The guys were on time, efficient, and made the view beautiful. More than this, the toughest part of the job was clearing out and chipping a HUGE pile of branches and cuttings that had been piling up almost 3 years. They managed to get the trucks and chipper up the slippery hill, and cleaned it all up. Seriously: if you need quality, professional, and affordable tree care, John and his crew are the guys to call! -- One VERY happy customer read more

I had a gentleman come in and asked me for directions to talk with someone at Mack. I work at a local business and was trying to help them out. When I called, the guy was a total jerk and spoke to me like I was an idiot for calling. TOP NOTCH service by Jon at Mack tree! I called him on Tuesday requesting an estimate to have a plum tree removed from my back yard & he came over the next day to take a look at it while I was at work and quoted me a good price that I couldn't pass up! He told me he wouldn't be able to get it done until next week which I was fine with BUT then he called me 2 days later on Friday morning letting me know he can get it done on Friday while I'm at work. When I came home for lunch he was already done and the plum tree was out of my back yard! Not only did he cut the plum tree down but he cleaned everything that my yard looked spotless! A big thanks to Jon at Mack Tree! Oh and to top it all off I've never even seen Jon in person to meet him and handled everything over the phone which I found very helpful especially since I can't leave work. Jon came out on time to give the estimate and also noticed some oozing on my Oak tree and sent a photo to a friend to get another opinion of what it might be. We tossed around the idea that it might be SOD (sudden oak death) but we couldn't be sure .He gave me a great price and I chose his service over M&M after a bad experience with them. Jon and his crew came out today (9-30-14) and did a fantastic job, the tree looks beautiful. His crew did a great job. They were curtious and professional all the way and cleaned up everything and left no mess behind. I would use them again in a heartbeat and will recommend them to anyone needing quality tree care. Contacted Mack Tree to remove a large tree stump. They did a great job for a good price. I would use them again.

I am very glad to have Jon work in my place by trimming a very large pine tree with large branches leaning over my house and my neighbor's house. Besides improving the overall look of the tree and making it safer, he did a very good cabling job to secure the 3 main trunks of the tree, each leaning out from each other. He also remove some large Oleanders and some ugly old-school pine bushes and ground the stumps. They works safe, quick and very clean. I have no complains, they did a great job. read more
