Madriz Tree pruned a large oak tree in my neighbor's backyard. The branches extend over to my…read moreproperty by about 8-10 feet. They cut an extensive number of branches from the oak tree and let them free-fall on my property, which is full of plants. The branches damaged my plants extensively. My backyard was probably 4 feet high with branches, and 8 feet deep. When I talked to one of the workers, he said the plants were "OK", but that wasn't true. When I asked to speak to the supervisor from Madriz, the workers said he wasn't there. No one from Madriz told me that they were going to prune the tree and let large branches free-fall into my backyard onto the plants in my garden and garage roof. Completely unprofessional. With respect to your request for a video, I do have a video of your Madriz worker in my backyard pulling piles and piles of branches off of my plants in my garden. With respect to your comment that I was "yelling and screaming" and "harassing" your workers, you are gaslighting me. I don't yell, scream, or harass workers. It's offensive and untrue. If you wanted to dead-drop limbs from an oak tree into my backyard, onto the plants in my garden, you should have contacted me first and discussed it. You never did.

I had a mixed experience with Alejandro over the 6-8 months I worked with him. While he was…read moregenerally responsive and made lots of promises, he misrepresented himself as an arborist when I needed one for tree root pruning around a sidewalk permit with the City of Oakland. Alejandro only told the truth after we had gathered a big 10-person crew of my general contractor's team, the city inspector and whole concrete team ready to pour the sidewalk. With all these men looking to him for approval as the arborist, he buckled and admitted he wasn't a "certified arborist" but a "licensed arborist." We were all dumbfounded. This colossal waste of time cost me several thousand dollars more from a two week delay and extra man hours over Xmas, when Alejandro left a big safety hazard of sharp nails, overturned plywood, and a mess of wood chips on the sidewalk that another crew had to manage when he was a no-show on the cleaning part. At least he did actually prune the roots after he found a real "certified arborist" to replace him. He did cut back the tree branches just fine. But If you need anything more official than a tree haircut, I don't recommend you choose Alejandro.

We had Jose from Vega's Tree Service out to look at some dying hedges and chose to have them plant…read morereplacements. Jose and his crew did a good job. Based on that job, we had Jose come back to price planting of sago palms and trimming trees/bushes/hedges. His price sounded good so we scheduled a one-day job for the work. On the scheduled Tuesday, a crew of three arrived (but not Jose to lead the work). We had to explain to the lead what we wanted done (same as we had explained to Jose before). The lead did not appear to understand us completely. The lead even FaceTimed with Jose for clarification. Apparently, that didn't make it any clearer for the lead...as evidenced by the crew's work. During the first three hours, the crew only managed to plant the sago palms...half of them planted too deep in depressions. They ran out of soil. The lead found a bag on my property and asked if they could use it. After I told him no, he used it anyway and said he misunderstood me. One guy also had to leave to buy more soil for the sagos. After I complained to Jose, the crew provided a replacement bag of soil. The crew trimmed the palm trees and hedges ok. They, however, botched the rest of their work. They butchered the bushes, fruit trees and other trees. They only completed about have the work and didn't cleanup at the end of their day...saying they'd be back on Friday. We feel it is unacceptable for them to have left the job site in such a state...even if they planned to return. The crew also broke a yard lantern. Not sure if we can get a replacement. We cancelled their Friday return and only paid them for the work completed. We are not satisfied with either the partial job done or the price charged for that partial job. It's crap. Vega Tree Service clearly had a more important job elsewhere and sent an inexperienced/subpar lead and crew to do our job. Poor customer service. We will not be using Vega's Tree Service again. We also cannot recommend them to other customers.

Assessed the situation and told me my options for tree removal, just a cut down or cut down + trunk removal. I opted for the latter. His price came in lower than someone else I had come and give me a quote, which I was surprised. My smallish pine tree (15 - 20 ft tall) was cut, stump removed, and cleaned up in 2.5 hours. Leo double checked if I wanted the hole to be left open where the stump was removed or cover it back up with dirt before they finished the project. I opted for them to cover the hole back up since I'm not ready to put in a new tree. Communication was good, he let me know when he was 5 mins out from my house and we were in communication about scheduling. Would definitely hire again.

Leo arrived, on time, & after a walk through & discussion, we agreed on a contract which was sent to me via email prior to scheduled job. Next day the job was completed with no issues. Leo & his Team, knocked it all out at a reasonable time. They were meticulous with their work and left the yard clean and tidy on completion. Leo is a friendly, professional and an *Expert* at what he does. He & his team trimmed, removed deadwood from two Pines trees, cut off a huge branch from my Oak Tree that was too close to my roof as well as cut down at least 5 ft. from our large Tree/scrub. Very efficient with each job task. After it was all done, I can't say how extremely satisfied I am by the work. I'm so happy to get this project done in such a quick turnaround. The job required precision cutting because the trees were surrounded by other houses on 500 square foot lots. They cut the trees branch by branch. I used Willy recently and about 7 years ago. Importantly, he has excellent equipment: cherry picker…read moretruck (lift up into the tree), amazing chipper and so on. He also has an excellent crew. The small project was to take a pittosporum down about 5 feet and enhance the canopy shape. They did a very nice job on this. Meanwhile, the bigger project was being done by the rest of the crew. We have a very large Monterey Cypress. It needed to be cleared or dead branches, a good deal of weight, and a large lateral "window" created to allow a clear view from a back deck. With guys on ropes and a guy on the cherry picker truck (bucket truck), they go the job done. All of this was completed in an afternoon and within about a week of my contacting them. Additionally, I enjoyed interacting with the crew and with Willy. Certainly worth getting an estimate!

Nevertheless, the crew completed that and removal of the remaining trunk and root the following date with incredible efficiency and safety precautions to protect trees from falling.
