The team pruned three oak trees in our challenging backyard that included a steep hill, many stairs and planting areas. Despite those obstacles, the team worked very efficiently yet very carefully not to damage other miscellaneous plants that I care about. Matt and the team at Elite are true professionals. We had them give us a quote for multiple tree trimmings on our property. We have amazing oaks and wanted to know exactly how to care for them since they add so much to our property. T From the first phone contact with the office to the appointment, it was an excellent experience. Matt was on time and extremely knowledgeable. He gave us expert advice not just on our oaks but all our trees. Additionally, he was able to make some recommendations to help us address issues with privacy and even spent time to recommend plants fit for difficult locations. Because we were so impressed, I asked to have him on sight for the work. He understood and was willing to accommodate my request and even added it to our quote. The quote came in and it was in line with our other proposals (all were almost exactly the same.) I strongly recommend Elite. They had the lowest quote of two firms. Matt came out and explained everything. Gave me a couple of options and pros and cons. The other firm did the same but was significantly higher. The crew were professional and made quick work of two large pines that were dead and near dead plus a smaller pine. We've used Elite Tree Service for a few years now. Our landscaping service had made all of our trees looking like big round bushes. Matt and his crew came in and trimmed the olive , the magnolia, and the feijoa trees so that they were beautiful and graceful. My neighbors compliment my trees! Bottom line: these guys are awesome. Found Elite Tree Service on Yelp so called them for a quote. Matt came out and gave me a very competitive quote for the removal of one tree and trimming 2 others. Also grinding out 2 stumps and some plants. So, I went with them but had to wait a few weeks because they were booked up. Figured that was a good sign. Appointment was for 11, they showed up at 10:30. Yeah! Crew of 4 went to work with military precision. They worked really well as a team and were very efficient. Not only did a great job on all the trees, they cleaned up after themselves as well. My trees look great. Later I found out the team has been together for 10 years and it shows. St. Patricks Day, March 17th, the anniversary date of when Elite Tree Service, Ed Jenson, trespassed onto my property without my knowledge or permission, hired by my backyard neighbors, and climbed over my fence and up into my 100 year old giant sequoia, and chain sawed 28 living branches leaving my tree disfigured forever with ugly stumps at the fence line. The sad thing is that this species can never grow back its branches. Three people yelled at him & begged him to stop; but he kept cutting. I had just paid M & M Tree Service $1200 five months before, to trim my tree and it looked spectacular, majestic, & magnificent. He has robbed me of all the joy I had in being in my backyard. This father son team may have an arborist no. but there is no arborist here. An arborist takes a hippocratic oath. No reputable arborist would trespass onto another's property without permission and damage their property. No reputable arborist would touch a 100 year old tree that had just been professionally pruned. These guys will do anything for a fast buck. There is no integrity in how they conduct their business. Elite Tree was great -- I had two huge acacias fall at the bottom of my yard, over the city owned creek. I had a couple of companies tell me they just couldn't do it, that there was no safe way to do it. Elite came in, gave me a lower price than the others had estimated (had they been able to do it), and brought in a crane, cleared the use of it from the school on the other side (I didn't have to do a thing), and then came in from the far side. They successfully, safely cleared it all out, and even left me the mulch when I asked for it. I certainly don't hope that any other trees fall. However, if one did, I'd call them in a heartbeat. read more

So I can't write about his work just yet since our work isn't completed, but what a nice, honest guy who knows what he is doing. There was a tad delay in calling me back from my initial inquiry, but I was called by a very nice woman who accommodated my request for same day quote. Ed came over at 6 after a long day of work and spent a great deal of time reviewing our property and making recommendations in the interest of beauty and the health of my trees. I got a quote on the spot. I felt that he knew exactly what to do, which was comforting. It was almost like having your dad (who happens to be an arborist) come over and tell you what you needed to do. Given I know nothing about trees or landscaping, I would be an easy person to take advantage of, and I could just tell that he was honest and cared about making me happy and the trees healthy and pretty. His quote was thorough and partly itemized, which makes it easier if I decide we just can't do it all. I've received 3 quotes, one that was $1K less than his (though it was for less work and I think they are less into the "art" of trees and aesthetics), and one that was more than double his quote! I would absolutely recommend calling Earl when looking for someone to trim or remove your trees. Solid man and very fair and competitive prices. read more

Elite Tree Service absolutely lived up to their name! I'm in the middle of an eucalyptus grove and have worked with a few tree companies and Matt and his crew are head and shoulders above. Their quote was extremely competitive and while others were quoting more than a full day's work, Matt was very confident they'd be done in one day. I really appreciated the level of detail provided in the quote as well. Fast-forward to the day of the job. They showed up on time and had a well-defined plan on how to tackle the job efficiently and effectively. Quite entertaining for my kids to watch, according to my wife. I came home a bit early from work to catch up with Matt and they'd already finished, cleaned up, and were gone. They'd even gone so far as to get up on the roof with a blower to clear off debris that came down during removal of a few of the trees. The cost was more expensive than I could have imagined to trim a tree ($625), but at the end of the day it looks really good. Elite was priced at market rate based on the 3 bids I received. They made a point of introducing themselves and explaining the work that needed to be done, which I really appreciate. At the end of the job they cleaned up appropriately and even took away extra bushes and limbs I had removed from other parts of my yard. Nothing elite about this place. Corresponded with Sarah to have an estimate done on my property to have some trees removed. These clowns were a no-show. No phone call, nothing! When I called them to find out ETA, got a voicemail/answering machine. Left a message but no call back. I had to take time off from work to get this done and they don't have the courtesy to call and cancel or reschedule? LAME, don't bother with this place. Totally not worth the time. Oh and Sarah can't even get your name right. I corresponded with her via email to set the appointment up and she still can't get my name right. BOO! I do not know what is going on with this company. I think Ed is the most wonderful man and he took care of my trees for over 30 years.  I think his son has taken over.  Whoever is running the front office does not answer the phone, return calls, or respond to emails.  I finally gave up and went with another service who were licensed, insured,  much less expensive, answered their phone, left the yard immaculate and the trees beautifully sculpted.  This is the saddest review I have ever written. read more

Having just bought our first house, I can't say I'm a tree trimming expert or anything, but facts are facts. This was worth the wait and totally worth the money. The impact of having these trees done is incredible. It's like we have a whole new backyard. They cut down 2 trees that were pushing on our retaining walls, and trimmed 3 others. We just bought our first house, and budget is a concern for us, because there's so much to do. It was obvious that nothing had been done on the trees in a long time, and our neighbors even mentioned what a mess it was the first time we met them. I can't put into words what a great job they did, so maybe this will help illustrate it: Our next door neighbors brought us a thank you present after the work was done. *Seriously*. Our neighbors brought us chocolate and champagne for TRIMMING OUR OWN TREES. Elite Tree Service did such a good job on our trees that our neighbors bestowed gifts on us.
