I can't say enough good things about Justin and his amazing crew! They recently tackled the challenge of removing two towering 40-foot Monterey Pine trees from a steep hillside, and the results were nothing short of spectacular. Over the course of three productive days, they showcased their expertise and professionalism. What truly stood out was how easy Justin was to work with. He understood the urgency of my situation, as I'm in the process of selling the property, and he prioritized scheduling to meet my tight deadlines. Additionally, navigating Oakland's complex tree ordinance can be daunting, but Justin provided invaluable guidance that made the entire process a breeze. I wholeheartedly recommend Local Tree and Justin for anyone in need of tree services. You won't be disappointed! read more

Would highly recommend working with local tree! Justine and his guys were straightforward and efficient. It was more than reasonably priced. I got the impression that he actually cares about the tree just as much as the transaction. He recommended care options to help keep it healthy and happy. read more

Justin and his crew are amazing. Justin is knowledgable, honest, and a great communicator. I could not recommend more highly.

Continued expert, thoughtful, professional and beautiful pruning. Three years after first working with Justin, I had Local Tree return for pruning and shaping our large Ash tree and its smaller neighbors. I appreciate working with Justin and his crew. Their work is excellent and on time. I highly recommend Local Tree. read more

Local Tree pruned our 3-story Ironwood and removed six, 40-year-old Italian Cypress that were leaning on the roof. after discussions with Justin, we knew removing the cypresses was the right thing to do. Justin is an arborist, honest, transparent, an excellent communicator, and understands the city's permit process. his crew is efficient and respectful. they shielded our neighbor's property while they worked and left the area--including driveways, walkways, sidewalk--immaculate. the Ironwood is now beautifully sculptured. Local Tree's price was reasonable. their work exceptional. read more

Justin is one of the best contractors I've ever worked with. Goes above and beyond, gives great advice, highly responsive, and is flexible to changing situations. He did a complicated job for us recently (removing a 4 story tree close to buildings with a crane). Everyone went super smoothly. They were done within hours. He's a serious professional who can get the job done. He even did some "bonus work" helping us relocate a shed. read more

I highly recommend Justin and Local Tree. They are extremely knowledgeable about all levels of tree health, tree work and removal. Excellent communication skills, you really feel like you're getting the best possible solutions to a variety of tree problems and issues. Justin contacted and assessed our situation right away. It's hard to imagine an arborist more competent and hard working. read more

We were looking for someone who would take more care than the typical tree removal company - Justin was very responsive and gave us an estimate based on the photos we sent through. He also highlighted the main issues. On the day the crew turned up on time and were very professional. They worked on mitigating the issues with the tree being lopsided and the resulting prune left the tree looking nicely shaped given they had reduced the size by around a third. Very happy with the result and the care they took with one of our favorite trees. Highly recommended read more

Local Tree is definitely a cut above the competition. We have had many tree services trim our oaks and acacias but Justin at Local Tree is a real arborist. He identified tree health, discussed the best ways to keep our trees healthy and thriving while not overly impacting our views, and things to be in the lookout for in the future. He and his team were friendly and a pleasure to have around. I highly recommend. read more

I got three quotes for the price to cut down a massive Acacia Tree in our backyard. The best quote was from Local Tree. Justine is the owner of the business and he is professional and gets the job done with no hassle. He and his crew arrived on time, completed the job, hauled all the debris away, and cleaned the area (yard and garage). I highly recommend using Local Tree for your arborist needs. When the newly planted tree gets big enough I plan to call Local Tree for the pruning. read more

Justin and his team were amazing! Professional, knowledgeable, helpful, nice, friendly, and tidy with excellent communication and fair prices. They took out a GIANT double trunk Monterey Pine that we loved and it's enormous stump, but it had to go due to a beetle infestation that made it's way through our neighborhood. They also did some trimming and other smaller removals while they were here. We will call Local Tree for all of our future tree needs... from planting advice, to tree restoration, to pruning, to removals as needed. read more

Absolutely outstanding service from Mr. Anderson. He has a depth of experience and understanding of trees plants and topsoil biology that is above the level of several other arborists we have worked with in the past. He has a deep appreciation and love of native California species and an understanding of how they interact with each other. This makes his advice far more consequential than the mere aesthetic value and subsequent complications associated with inappropriate plant combinations that less experienced folks might recommend. We will continue to work with Local Tree on our current and future projects. read more

We had a complicated situation with an unstable tree very close to our house. I spoke with three arborists and Justin was far and away the most thoughtful and invested in the tree's overall health, which was a priority for me. He also clearly outlined the pros and cons of different options. Local Tree did the needed work, and we were very happy with the results. read more

One of the best tree trimming and maintenance companies you can find. Justin and his team were diligent, thoughtful, extremely hard working, reasonably prices and overall fantastic to work with. I had an overgrown ficus tree in front of my property, and they did a spectacular job pruning it. I can't overstate how happy I am with their results and also their work. Hands down one of the best vendors I've worked with read more

This is the second time I used Justin to do tree work. He and his crew are alway super professional, contentious, and warm. I got five quotes on a big job and local tree was easily the most affordable. If you need an arborist I can't recommend anyone more highly! read more

Justine has been great. He came and pruned the Granda Flora Magnolia in my back patio. There is no access and he took the initiative to go to the apartment building next door to get permission to bring his truck into their lot. I could tell he loves trees and loves to climb. He and his helper did a great job of pruning and cleaning up everything afterward. Since then I've consulted with him on a root issue. He was helpful and graciously gave me advice. read more

I had an extremely positive interaction with Justin. He made the effort to come out twice, the second time with his top tree removal climber. Very easy to communicate with and very responsive and client-oriented. read more

Justin came right when he said he would for the estimate (and even called when he thought he might be late--but wasn't). He gave me a lot of good information about the tree and even advised on the fence that the tree had broken apart. The next morning, he spent time with me on the phone answering questions I had about other estimates, aspects of the job and pricing. I didn't end up using him, as it was a tree removal and I didn't really need his level of expertise for that job. I highly recommend giving Justin a call if you're looking for a knowledgeable, easy to work with and highly experienced tree pro. I read more

Justin and his crew did a great job. Communication was excellent (he even handled a surprise midweek, mid job wedding nextdoor with tact and aplomb.) This was a difficult job on a giant, ancient tree inches from our building. Risks and options were explained clearly. They finished on time and left the site neat and clean. read more

Amazing service from start to finish! we called Local Tree shortly after moving to Oakland from Seattle. They responded right away and we scheduled a tree consult. Coming from Seattle, the price of the quote was very reasonable and we booked! 2 weeks later the job was done! In the past it's taken months to get our trees taken care of, but Local Tree was able to get the job done quickly and efficiently (back in Seattle places would book out months in advance- and had poor customer service.) Justin and the team were also very respectful of coming to our house since we have a reactive dog. They made sure to call before entering the property. We'll definitely be using Local Tree again and recommending them to all our friends! read more

After many years of using another tree service, we decided to give Local Tree a try when we needed some major work done in our backyard. So glad we did! Justin and his crew were extremely professional at a reasonable cost. We were impressed with Justin's knowledge, his attention to detail, and his willingness to go out of his way to make us happy. Not only were we happy with the end result, with no prompting from us, we were surprised when Justin said the job was going to cost us less than he had quoted. So add honesty to the many reasons we will use Local Tree for all of our future needs. read more

extremely knowledgeable and quick to respond. would 100% use again

I've worked with many arborists over the years. There is no doubt in my mind that if you love and care about your trees, there is no one in the bay area better than Justin and Local Tree. Justin's depth of knowledge about what will help make your trees thrive is unparalleled. Unlike so many arborists that I've worked with, he's not there to just sell you on services. He actually talked me down from doing some work that he explained was not necessary! Finally, his follow-up is incredible. I had an issue with a legacy Japanese Maple that was looking fragile. Justin researched the issue, consulted other arborists and came out to advise me on what to do. In my experience, when you find people as good as Justin, you do everything you can to keep them and keep working with them. I could not recommend Justin more highly. You will be delighted with his work. read more

Great work by LocalTree. They got referred from someone I'd called (from Angie's List, actually). Came out and gave us an estimate for removing 2 fair-sized trees, a sickly rhododendron and about a 30' holly tree that was actually 5 trunks all coming up from the same root system. Included grinding out the stumps, as we're getting pavers put down where the trees used to be. Showed up early on the appointed day. 3 person crew got right to work. My wife worked from home to give them access to the backyard (typical SF attached house on both sides). She said they worked their butts off, couldn't have been nicer. They finished the job in less time than we thought it would take. I won't hesitate to recommend them! read more

Justin and his assistant did an incredible job on my large backyard magnolia, opening it with a much needed internal clean up and shaping, leaving it perfectly balanced and truly a work of art. They were prompt, worked safely and left the place cleaner than when they arrived. Really knowledgeable and professional with excellent communication. Highly recommend! read more

Justin and Benjamin did an amazing and fantastic job on our out of control tree that was located in our backyard that was literally reaching one of its branches to our neighbors porch. Our neighbor was so happy that we finally got this done. Our tree in the front also received some care too. Our tress are now absolutely beautiful. Theses guys are licensed professional arborist that I would highly recommend. Note: They did top quality work and their bid came in the lowest. Thank You Guys read more

Our veteran's backyard garden had become overgrown, so I called Local Tree. Justin eagerly responded with a solution for every problem tree. Now we enjoy watching butterflies, birds and squirrels explore this nicely tamed garden! The apricot tree was top heavy, its weight crushing the fence behind it and reaching over into the neighbors' backyard. Justin delicately pruned the boughs, reducing the weight and skillfully balancing the shapes that provide crucial shade. The Hollywood Juniper reached taller than two stories and had broken several surrounding wooden atrium beams. Justin and his team thinned and reduced its size, preserving the privacy and shade it offers. Also, neighbors applauded Local Tree for controlling tree overgrowth that encroached on their garden spaces. Justin's crew cleared out deadwood and roots that took up valuable garden real estate leaving a clean, idyllic, contemplative garden. Justin's solution of reducing tree growth by not-too-little and not--too-much was just right for us! Our veteran remarked, "Thank you, Justin's Local Tree Inc. crew for rescuing our garden." read more

Justin was recommended to me by a friend as an arborist who could help shape my overgrown trees. He came out for a site visit first and we toured the garden and discussed what he thought was needed, followed by an emailed estimate for the work we'd agreed on. His crew was very professional and courteous. They did a great job on the trimming, reviewing their progress and consulting with me when necessary. Plus, they did an excellent job on cleanup. They even moved a heavy ceramic birdbath to a different place in the garden for me. I can't recommend Local Tree highly enough for anyone who wants 5-star tree service. read more

I'm so thrilled with my big old cedar's healthy, shapely condition. These guys, once again, did a beautiful job. Justin and Ben, who do the climbing, are absolute pros. They are bold yet safety-minded. Full of knowledge, which enables them to look ahead to what the tree will need in 5 years and beyond. And they treat their men on the ground with respect and clear guidance. Bonus: they clean behind themselves so that you're left with a cleaner yard than the one they walked into. Their prices seem fair--not the cheapest, and not the highest priced. And they are worth every penny you'll spend. It might take them a little while to start your job--the best ones are just that busy. But they are worth the wait, read more

I truly dislike Yelp, but I'm putting that aside and writing my first ever review for Justin, Ben, and their guys at Local Tree because their work and general support getting us out of a big tree mess was truly exceptional. As briefly as possible: A huge Cypress tree fell over against our house. Another arborist got it to the ground, safely off of the house. Think you're done? Not even close. There's a mountain of cut rounds filling the yard, a 7 ton 20ft long trunk section, and a huge stump in the ground. There are people who will come get wood for free if it's easy, but the tree's in the backyard, access is through a neighbors narrow passageway, and it's about 40 feet below street level. Nobody is doing that for free. I called at least 30 different people trying to find the right people to do all the necessary tasks. Justin was the only person of all those people I talked to who took ownership and stood by me like an advisor trying to help me consider all the options for how to get it all done, even if he wasn't the person to do some or any of the jobs. There are not many people like that these days. Because of this honesty and sincere desire to help, I went with him for two of the three big jobs necessary even though I knew I could probably get it done slightly cheaper. His team's work was amazing - efficient, careful, and very thorough cleanup far beyond my expectations. They removed all the cut rounds, Alaskan milled the trunk section into beautiful Cypress slabs, and delivered them to a local artist for us. We've got our yard back and survived a very chaotic three months thanks to Justin, Ben, and their crew. Stop looking - these are your guys. read more
