Amazing service from start to finish! we called Local Tree shortly after moving to Oakland from Seattle. They responded right away and we scheduled a tree consult. Coming from Seattle, the price of the quote was very reasonable and we booked! 2 weeks later the job was done! In the past it's taken months to get our trees taken care of, but Local Tree was able to get the job done quickly and efficiently (back in Seattle places would book out months in advance- and had poor customer service.) Came out and gave us an estimate for removing 2 fair-sized trees, a sickly rhododendron and about a 30' holly tree that was actually 5 trunks all coming up from the same root system. Included grinding out the stumps, as we're getting pavers put down where the trees used to be. Showed up early on the appointed day. 3 person crew got right to work. My wife worked from home to give them access to the backyard (typical SF attached house on both sides). She said they worked their butts off, couldn't have been nicer. Our veteran's backyard garden had become overgrown, so I called Local Tree. Justin eagerly responded with a solution for every problem tree. Now we enjoy watching butterflies, birds and squirrels explore this nicely tamed garden! The apricot tree was top heavy, its weight crushing the fence behind it and reaching over into the neighbors' backyard. Justin delicately pruned the boughs, reducing the weight and skillfully balancing the shapes that provide crucial shade. The Hollywood Juniper reached taller than two stories and had broken several surrounding wooden atrium beams. I truly dislike Yelp, but I'm putting that aside and writing my first ever review for Justin, Ben, and their guys at Local Tree because their work and general support getting us out of a big tree mess was truly exceptional. As briefly as possible: A huge Cypress tree fell over against our house. Another arborist got it to the ground, safely off of the house. Think you're done? Not even close. There's a mountain of cut rounds filling the yard, a 7 ton 20ft long trunk section, and a huge stump in the ground. There are people who will come get wood for free if it's easy, but the tree's in the backyard, access is through a neighbors narrow passageway, and it's about 40 feet below street level. Nobody is doing that for free. I called at least 30 different people trying to find the right people to do all the necessary tasks. Justin was the only person of all those people I talked to who took ownership and stood by me like an advisor trying to help me consider all the options for how to get it all done, even if he wasn't the person to do some or any of the jobs. There are not many people like that these days. Because of this honesty and sincere desire to help, I went with him for two of the three big jobs necessary even though I knew I could probably get it done slightly cheaper. His team's work was amazing - efficient, careful, and very thorough cleanup far beyond my expectations. They removed all the cut rounds, Alaskan milled the trunk section into beautiful Cypress slabs, and delivered them to a local artist for us. We've got our yard back and survived a very chaotic three months thanks to Justin, Ben, and their crew. Stop looking - these are your guys. read more
