This whole experience has been an absolute nightmare. First of all, these landscapers are unlicensed, which is illegal in California. They are extremely unqualified. They have made numerous mistakes on a basic job of a sprinkler installation. The job was rushed and done without any sort of expertise. ****Update: Gisela stated in her response below that we did not "pay" extra for Eco Grounds to remove the PVC from our lawn. So somehow this justifies smashing up the PVC into hundreds of shards and sprinkling them all over our top soil? See pictures. 1. They left sharp, dangerous shards of PVC pipe scattered on our lawn and covered with top soil. This is the most absurd thing that they did and I'm so worried we'll miss a piece and my toddler will impale his foot on one of these shards. They also left pieces of junk such as new rubber tubing, price tags, new PVC pipe, and shards of old irrigation valves mixed into our top soil. Every time I rake through the soil, I find new garbage or new pipe shards. This is insane. 2. Two hours after installation of the irrigation system, a new pipe they installed broke open and was gushing water all over our lawn. We had to shut down our water main. They told me it wasn't screwed on correctly. They should have checked for leaks before leaving. 3. They left our yard in shambles and didn't replace plants they dug up by the irrigation line they installed. 4. The sprinklers by the rose bushes do not even work. 5. The sprinkler heads range in heights from 0-4 inches above ground! Why? They claim it's because they planned to do lawn treatment by adding top soil, but 4 inches of top soil? And if that were true, why wouldn't they all be the same height? Won't some be completely buried or others will be run over with the lawnmower? 6. The timer they installed was programmed incorrectly so only one out of four zones were running every day, so our grass was starting to die. The timer also seemed used. It was covered with a thick later of dust and dirt, and did not come with a manual or new box. They were charging me for a new one. 7. We paid $240 for hand de-weeding, and as you can see in the pics, they left weeds behind. 8. They cut our tree root in half, leaving the root sticking up out of the ground, when they could have dug under it to install the irrigation. What am I supposed to do with this now, exactly? It's a tripping hazard at this point. 9. After informing the owners about the shards of PVC pipe in our top soil, Gisela actually blamed us for it, saying we had broken pipes in the ground from the old system. So, why did they sprinkle broken shards of PVC unto our lawn and cover it with top soil? The owner, Carlos already had admitted that the workers broke up the PVC pipes with pick axes and that caused the shards to go everywhere. Gisela evaded any and all responsibility for their mistakes, which I think was the worst part of all of this. All in all, this has been an absolute disaster and although they offered to fix the errors, we do not trust this company within 10 feet of our property, and you shouldn't either. read more

Contacted Eco Grounds Landscaping to inspect my irrigation system for leaks. Carlos responded promptly and came by to do the inspection the next day. He quickly identified my system's leaky valve. Carlos is very knowledgeable and patient - he responded to my many questions and provided quotes I requested for various options for my irrigation system and other yard enhancements. The team he sent to replace my leaky irrigation valve was efficient, did a good job replacing the bad valve and they left the work area In the same condition as they found it. I have hired numerous landscaping companies in the past and so far Eco Grounds has been the best! Carlos is such a nice guy and one thing I like is the communication we had. If he couldn't work on a day he would get back to me on rescheduling. Other people would not even let me know what was going on and never come back to complete the job. Carlos and crew pulled weeds, pruned trees, trimmed the shrubs, added mulch and installed some pavers all for a reasonable price. I moved into a new home down in San Pablo and we had a plan to immediately do some outside work for our home. The driveway was not in the best shape (made of asphalt) it would damage the car if you didn't slowly pull out, but calling Eco grounds landscaping and telling Carlos about the problem he had a unique way of getting our problem solved that no other company had mentioned. Carlos and Gisela are wonderful! We needed our yard completely cleaned up, it was choked with weeds and just gross! There was a situation with a mushroom on a stump that probably would have killed us all had Carlos not removed it. I'm not kidding, that thing was headed toward the house. Gisela spotted our cry for help on Nextdoor and barely a week later, the job is already complete. I loved how easy and quick it was to communicate with Gisela and get on the schedule, she's really on top of it! They did a spectacular job, and even watched out for my little succulents in the ground, which was above and beyond the call of duty considering we asked for a big ugly cleanup job and they were buried under layers of weeds. Gisela is super prompt and efficient! She scheduled the free quote session the very next day, sent me a reminder text 15 mins before the appointment and arrived on the dot to survey my yard and gave me a great quote shortly after! We wanted our whole backyard (weeds, dry grass, overgrown trees and bushes, mulch, dirt, etc) demolished and to start fresh with a low-maintenance yard. Carlos Holgado , who is the head of Eco Grounds Landscaping, is a dream to work with. I first hired him to rebuild our whole aging irrigation system in the front and back yards. He did a beautiful job and set it up to work automatically. Next we hired him to build a fence around the front yard. I am so pleased with the front yard transformation. They put up a fence on uneven terrain. To make the project workable, they had to relocate parts of the sprinkler system, extend the driveway, extend the outside electrical system (to put up a light), move the outdoor water access, remove bushes and shrubs, replant fresh sod, and figure out tricky issues with the gate. Carlos spent time talking through the project with me in advance. Then, as practical decisions or issues arose during the process, he talked them through with me very patiently and thoroughly. We arrived at solutions that worked for me and that were possible to do. I have tremendous confidence in his knowledge, skill and ability and trust his impeccable integrity.
