We are so very please with the work that the Perfect Landscaping team did at our house a few weeks ago. They removed a large old camellia and then artfully pruned back branches from another tree that was bumping against our neighbor's garage. They also pulled out multiple dead or diseased shrubs that we wanted gone. They carefully cleared the weeds from both our front and back yards. We have a persistent weed, that needs to be dug out by its bulbous root and they did so while leaving the just sprouting garden plants we wanted to save. It was a lot, The way they worked around and lightly pruned wanted plants showed the crew were careful and knowledgeable gardeners. Gelder's company does our regular landscaping so it was a no brained to also request them to help revamp our side yard. From a long narrow pathway full of mulch, the team of incredible people transformed it into our happy place fulll of flowers and greenery. Gelder was always available as needed, gave us options to consider and his expert advice. In the midst of all this, three giant trees fell on our front yard. We hired Gelder and his crew to build a pergola, refresh our concrete, change the gravel and perform some other updates in our backyard. The quality of work was not what we expected after seeing all the rave reviews. Also there was little to no communication regarding timelines or plans, except for an end date. Still the project was delayed by two weeks partly because of unavailable products and partly because of a very relaxed approach in the initial weeks. In the final 2 weeks of the project, I kept having to highlight the remaining work and request more folks to be sent over to make sure work got done on time. Gelder himself came over only once or twice a week, which would be fine if everything was going as per schedule. In many cases I had to do a lot of research myself and suggest what materials to use, especially for the concrete resurfacing and gravel. In spite of having shared a video of what we wanted for the concrete, we had to spell out each stage of the process to make sure the final product was acceptable. After all this they still messed up the sealant on the concrete on the final day. Gelder did come back after the work was complete to see if it could be fixed but he couldn't fix it. For the gravel, we showed Gelder multiple images of what we wanted but he was not able to source it at a reasonable price. So we had to find another vendor (Tri City Rock) that had something similar to what we wanted and ended up having them deliver the gravel. They are definitely not the kind of team where you can tell them what you want and they will do it in an aesthetic way. All the design and finishing work had to be articulated. Overall, Gelder and his team are great people, but we went through a lot of stress and time away from our jobs to get to the final outcome. They can do a good job, but have to be pushed and micromanaged to get there. read more

I'm having a greenhouse built and it needs base walls upon which to sit. I had Gelder (the owner) build them to the greenhouse manufacturer's specifications as well as an additional small patio area. The wall core is concrete block with a brick veneer topped by pressure-treated sill plates. The floor is permeable pavers. I'm very pleased with the end result. As is typically the case with most contractors, there were a few minor things that needed to be corrected along the way especially for a project like this where the greenhouse manufacturer has precise measurement requirements -- so as general advice: always double-check measurements yourself. But Gelder made all corrections without complaint. One initial caveat was that he wanted a large deposit. California law specifies that a contractor can ask for at most 10% of the project cost or $1000, whichever is less. After mentioning this to Gelder, he agreed and also to set a payment schedule (that should always be done). But I was willing to overlook this to still give a 5-star review. read more

The owner met with me to review one section of my lawn irrigation system with low pressure. He quickly assessed my issue as having too many sprinkler heads per valve and recommended removal of one head. I was originally just looking for a someone to remove my 150 sq. ft. "weed garden" that had sprouted uncontrollably after the rains. When Gelder arrived to review the project, he suggested a few simple options to replace the weeds on my limited budget which matched up with an "inspiration photo" that I found. I got really lucky in that his crew was available to start the next week, so I went for it -- and they did not disappoint. While they worked, Gelder brought over some samples of pea gravel for me to choose from. Later I met him at an incredible nursery where we picked up the plants we needed, and the entire job was completed in just three days.
