We had discussed various scenarios of the work to be done and he presented them all in the quote and then we were able to discuss with him the best set of work to be done. We were able to schedule very shortly after receiving the quote. On the day of, the team arrived on time and after pointing out the specifics, they got to work. They worked through all the areas of the backyard and took care of the trees. They requested and took feedback and followed through with it the moment. For example, I wanted a tree pruned a little more than normal and it was done. They brought the equipment to do the work and hauled away the detritus all within the same day for our job. From what I understand, we had a relatively small job: pruning our lemon tree and a small olive tree, removing a yucca tree, and planting two new citrus trees. They were efficient, safe, and professional. I have a very tall black walnut that was only visible at the tips of the tallest branches as it was covered with, and being strangled by ivy. They removed all of it. Some of the ivy was so large they were hauling out pieces with over a ft diameter. They worked quickly and left my yard in good shape, also trimming back the yard perimeter. On a second job they trimmed my redwood tree, removing all of the dead and overcrowded branches. Again, they did exceptional work at a reasonable price. I can now see the lovely trunk running the height of the tree. I have a brand new gorgeous view of my trees. Holy cow! Jose and his team are amazing. I have three large Redwood trees in my san Francisco back yard (not ideal). With neighbors all around, I try to keep them trimmed regularly (every couple of years). Over the past decade, I have hired 2 other tree service companies recommended on Yelp, but no one comes CLOSE to the service, price, and quality of Madriz. While the cost is similar to what I have paid before, the Madriz team spent so much more time and attention on my trees than either of the other businesses. A team of two worked all day with a full commitment to realizing my two goals (1) removing limbs for safety, (2) maintaining the health/integrity of the trees, (3) reducing how often I have to get the trees services! Number 3 is important. If Madriz can make it so that I have this done every 5 years instead of 2-3, that's a huge future cost-savings for me right there. Jose Madriz and his dad head a great tree service. Especially masterful is Eduardo, their top climber, who beautifully trimmed a giant oak, removing branches that threatened to bring it down. He went on to climb a 150 foot high redwood a few feet away from our cottage which had been topped over 60 years ago, stopping its upward growth and causing it to produce a mass of horizontal of branches at the very top which broke off and fell with deadly force. He reduced the branches into a safe size creating a giant bonsai tree. They have also performed excellent landscaping for us all at a reasonable price with the assurance that they are fully insured, including Workers Compensation - unlike some of their competitors. read more
