I was here last week and purchased a $299 Le Creuset to kick off my cookware collection. It was my birthday week, I've been wanting one for months and it was finally time to splurge! (So I was super excited to come home with my new toy)! ... I was the last customer in the store before they closed so I felt a bit rushed at checkout but I didn't let it bother me since I was out of the store by 9:05pm. Fast forward to an hour later when I was back at home opening the package, I pulled out the 2 piece braiser to get ready for it's first wash, lo and behold it was USED!!!! I couldn't believe it. There was actually crusted food on the edges of the lid as well as inside of the braiser. The sticker tag was already previously removed (you could see the sticky residue). I was speechless, angry, sad, etc. How dare they sell me a USED Le Crueset? I felt duped and it was a horrible birthday surprise. My husband had to go back to Williams-Sonoma first thing the next morning to make the return. They offered an exchange but we declined. I refuse to shop at this store from here on out. For such a nice mall and "classy" store I am disgusted that they would try and pull a fast one on me like that. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money at this Williams-Sonoma. read more

I ordered a $400 dehydrator from William-sonoma. It arrived broken. I called customer service and they said: no problem, send it back and we will send you a new one. That was two months ago (I sent the defective one back the same day I called). I kept calling WS to check on when my new dehydrator would arrive and they kept changing the dates. Meanwhile, all the fruits and veggies I planned to preserve from my garden went to waste. Finally, I called again the other day and they said my order had been canceled because they are no longer going to sell that product. No one emailed me or told me, even though I had been calling almost daily to check. The salt in the wound here, other than being led on for months, was that they kept emailing me ads with the same product they said they discontinued saying, "This dehydrator has your name on it." I left a bad review on their website that was tasteful and fair, and they removed it because it wasn't positive. Apparently, they remove all bad reviews from their site. I live by a WS store but once a year I'll drive to this store. Everytime it's a horrible experience. Each time they opened at least 10 minutes late. This time, one of the clerks opens the door halfway and chats with 3 others and asks if they should open. She didn't and locked the door again. What???? I asked for assistance and the clerk waited until his personal conversation is done with a friend before he would help me. I don't think customers are the stores priority. They opened late because a table display wasn't correct so it took 4 clerks to arrange a table display like that was more important than opening the store on time? It seems to be the culture of WS. Even the Mission Viejo store runs that way but at least they open a minute late and not 10 minutes. A small crowd was gathering waiting for them to open when a clerk from Pottery Bar came over and said WS should be open per their policy. Other customers were voicing their opinions on the stores non-existent customer service. Glad it wasn't just me that felt that way. Money talks so spend your money elsewhere at another kitchen store. oh ws, the store that carries high-end culinary tools and gadgets yet it comes with low-end customer service and inventory system. we lost count of how many times we've visited the store and instead of an efficient shopping trip we spent time on the computer with sales associates that really should be retired on their 401k but instead put into the work force to create customer headaches... you can tell that this store runs on commissions because the sales associates are always so territorial with their customers, hawking over us and instead of giving personal space, they give unsolicited advice. the store itself is really small and crammed, i always feel like there isn't enough breathing room. there's always someone in the way. they don't even have enough room for a cashier line to form... do yourself a favor and stick to online purchases... read more

Aha, I finally find them, with no help from an employee. My choices a $16 thermometer, that was very basic or $100 for top of the line, next item I needed was a serving spoon for non-stick skillets, I had one choice and it was red matching nothing else I had. I left empty handed and went to Sur La Table on the Crystal Court side where they had exactly what I was looking for. I really like this store. Very clean and filled with tons of interesting stuff. You can spend a long time just browsing through everything in this store. During the holidays, they have tons of themed items, which is super cute. They sometimes have free food and drink samples here. Yummy. They also do complimentary knife sharpening at times. My favorite thing about the store is the technique classes they offer every week or so. It's an informal class in which the teacher demonstrates how to make a few food or drink items. You listen and take notes. At the end, you can try the samples. It's really fun and lasts about an hour. Not too many places have a service like this. I bought some leather dining or office chair that looked so lovely on display. They were very expensive for what you get. They are made of cheap leather that scratches so easy. Location moved from the main mall to this much larger suite in the West Wing. I love WS. Absolutely love them. Their stores are filled with so many fun and interesting things for the kitchen and despite their reputation, not everything is priced beyond reach. This new store is so clean and well laid out. The selection is great and has plenty of variety to browse through. Store associates are friendly and attentive. There's even a large table set up with discount and clearance items. That's just unheard of for a WS store, especially in SCP. I will say though that there's also a Sur la Table in the West Wing and you'll likely find many of the same items there for less, but WS carries so many things not found in SLT so give both stores a try and you'll leave happy. =) read more

It would be -5 stars if I could. Went into the store to return some qoute on qoute "food items" and was met with rudeness and disdain. Was told I couldn't return food items so I walked right out of there, called their customer service line and they had no problem returning the items. I wouldn't step foot in this store if it was my lifeline to survive!!! I don't think I have ever encountered a ruder, more ungrateful set of employees in my life!!! I'm sorry I wasn't dressed to the nines, with my hair perfect and instead in sweats with a ponytail. It was made very clear to me that I was some sort of nuisance to the assholes working there. The staff in this store is trashing the Williams Sonoma name and until your corporate office does something about it, I refuse to step foot in this establishment and will make sure people I know do the same. My husband and I love Williams and Sonoma. We normally experience very good customer service. We were given as a gift a new Breville espresso maker from our kids for Christmas. We were a bit intimidated on how to work it so we decided to go to the store and ask for a demonstration. We went on (12/28) The coffee bar was being worked by an older man and woman. When the woman was done with her customer I explained we had gotten the Breville as a gift and asked if she could show us how to use it. She rudely asked why the people that gave it to us didn't show us how to work it. She then went on to question if we bought it at that store, because if you bought it at Costco go back there and ask for a demonstration. At this point I was a bit speechless! She begrudgingly gave us a very quick demo. Bottom line she was very rude. I wish I had gotten her name. If that was my first time at your store I can assure you I would not be back. read more

Running theme in reviews: bad customer service. I try to go to their competitor a few stores down for my kitchen stuff. I see so many customers tip toe around the employees to ask for things. On a positive note, they don't discriminate - same equally cocky attitude to everyone regardless of their color. I find that when I'm not working, I like to cook because it's cheaper than eating out. And when I'm cooking, I like to try out new recipes. Guess where that leads? You got it Mister... Momma wants new kitchen gadgets. And Momma gets what Momma wants because if Momma ain't happy, t'aint nobody happy. Which led me on a quest to find appropriate gadgets to make homemade pasta. I needed, at minimum, a crinkle cutter and a rolling pin and at most, a pasta machine. But gathering all this new gear at a time when I'm laid off is cost prohibitive. On top of that, I am the discount shopping queen... the "don't buy it unless it's on sale and with a coupon" type of gal. So when I talked about dropping by Williams Sonoma for some fresh kitchen gear, my sanity was seriously called into question. In case you don't know, Williams Sonoma is a beautiful high-end kitchen store located near the west side entrance of South Coast Plaza. Going to SCP on the late Sunday afternoon turned out to be a pretty good idea. Parking was easy. I know, huh? Parking easy at SCP? The planets must have aligned on some astral plane for me to be able to say that. It turns out they had a guardian at the door, but I didn't shew her away like normal. She was actually very helpful. With a few questions, in no time we were looking at the fancy red pasta machine they had for $69. While I caught my breath, I remembered seeing the same thing on line at Claro's Italian Market for $21 less and I let her know this was something I wasn't going to be purchasing today because of the price. But she happily located a wood handled fluted pastry cutter imported from Italy for $5. It made my day. She also tried to up sell me on some beautiful white ceramic fluted pie plates that match my Le Creuset bakeware. I could imagine using them for apple pie or Sheppard's pie or even as a serving dish during the holidays, but at $44 each, I quickly asked if they had a mailing list instead so I could find out when those babies go on sale. BTW, I ended up getting the rolling pin at BB&B for $6.99 + 20% off using the coupon they constantly mail me. Pasta heaven - here I come! read more

I came here to use a gift card that I got for Christmas. Came here on a Sunday about a quarter to 11am. The store wasn't open for business but they were conducting a free cooking demo. Thought that was cool. The chef was demoing how to braise meat, using an All Clad slow cooker, along with Williams Sonoma signature braising sauce. So I watched the demo for 15 minutes until the store opened for business @ 11am. It was interesting. There were about 80 people...surprisingly packed since all the other stores in the mall weren't quite open yet, so people just wandered in to the store to see what the buzz was about. When the store opened for business, I found it very difficult to find a salesperson to assist me with questions. There were only 3 sales staff on the floor and all 3 were dedicated to ring up purchases or handle returns. So after about 15 minutes, I finally found someone to assist me. I find that Williams Sonoma doesn't have a much of variety of kitchen things as Sur la Table. I would've rated this place a 4 star, but I'm deducting one star since I found it very difficult to flag down a salesperson for assistance. read more
