    Sur La Table Cooking Class
    Kat L.

I've been coming to Sur La Table for years as a staple to buy kitchen supplies and gadgets. Recently my husband surprised me with a date night at one of their cooking classes. BEST. DATE. EVER. Not only was it so informative but it was genuinely fun and inclusive. We made a three course meal and enjoyed it at the end. (Bonus Points because you get a little coupon to use afterwards within their store) I will be taking family and friends to these classes for years to come.

I took the Handmade Holiday Treats class at Sur La Table and it completely exceeded my expectations. In just two hours, we somehow managed to make fudge, marshmallows, caramel turtles, and bark--which still feels a little unreal. Jessica was AMAZING. She kept an almost full class organized, on schedule, and stress-free while making sure nothing went wrong (no small feat when working with hot sugar). Her passion for what she does is obvious, and she shared so many helpful tips along the way. I'm comfortable in the kitchen, but this class reminded me there's always something new to learn. Huge thanks to Sur La Table for a fantastic experience, and an even bigger thank-you to Jessica for making us all look like pros by the end. Would absolutely take another class with her!

Signed up for their summer baking series, which entailed a week of baking various savory and sweet recipes. The finale was baking a two layered cake from scratch. Every single thing made was delicious! Had no expectations except as this was first class with SLT. After research, I felt they were going to give more of that gourmet/baking shoe experience kind of thing. SLT definitely delivered. Although last day spotlighting bakers could have been planned and organized a bit better, overall-- that was only a small part of the entire experience, which was wonderful! Impressed recipes were from scratch and used high quality ingredients. Chefs were professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. Everyone got an apron of their own and everything else was provided. They made things easy. Location was also easy to find. Definitely, will be signing up for other classes and can't wait to be back!!! Also, came back to purchase a knife and some kitchen things as gifts. The store has everything you need and more when it comes to cooking and baking. Staff were nice and friendly.

Such a fabulous cooking experience! Our Chef was outstanding, knowledgeable, fun, and encouraging. He kept the class moving along and had so many tidbits to add. The food (Korean BBQ) was incredible - and to think we not only got to make it, but also enjoy it afterwards. They kindly offer a 10% off coupon in their store afterwards and you are sure to find something you need to add to your home kitchen. My friends and I loved the experience and are already planning a return visit to try another delectable dish.

Large spacious store. Love coming here to look at the cute aprons during each holiday. Right now they are having Valentine's day decor and have the cutest stuff! They also offer cooking classes and the classes can be booked in store or online. Lots of kitchen storage and tools for sale. Friendly staff. There's even a small clearance or sale rack in the back right corner of the store. You can find a variety of mid to high end appliances as well as knives for sale. One less star because some items aren't marked with a price so you have to bring it up to the register.

I like browsing here. They have so many nice items. I have purchased some from another location. I did notice they have cooking classes. That looked really interesting. I'd like to learn how to prepare some Asian or Italian dishes. Perhaps they might have a Vegan class one day. Cooking classes are fun. I recently took Harry Soo's BBQ class. Hopefully your classes are as good.

Honestly not sure why people are giving this a bad rating for their cooking classes. I guess it depends on the instructor? For my wife and I we got a cooking group and we had lot of fun. The chef explained things really wells and the date night classes was very enjoyable. If you come into this to have fun and a good date night I think you will love it. If you're looking to learn high level culinary cooking lessons then this is not for you.

I took the cooking class, Mediterranean chicken theme class and it was pretty good. The instructor was very clear. Very good communicator and people who attended it were very friendly and the food ended up tasting really good. The only reason I give it four stars is because I wish it were more focused. I wish the class were more focused on only one topic so that we could get really good at one topic at a time. Also, from the perspective of a business person, there is too much emphasis and effort of selling products to the students, instead of simply providing a good cooking class. I felt pressured to buy a pan and I shouldn't feel that this is truly a good community center and I think that the spirit of this is well intention it's just badly executed right now. The fact that we can buy pans should not even be mentioned. I know that - you don't have to tell me it. The whole purpose of the group should be to get people to come back and maybe the teacher and the other staff should be measured on how frequently people come back to the class instead of how many pans they sell. I believe this for most businesses and that's why I mentioned the business perspective because measuring things just on profit or money is not a good holistic view. There are other impacts that matter and should be measured as well for example building community in the Los Angeles area for example we don't have a lot of community centers for everyday people that are free or low cost this kitchen could be a community center and a magnet for people to come and learn how to cook and not only come once become frequently and very often.

We went to their cooking class. Love it! Chef explained each ingredient and showed us how to use it. We prepared pan roasted chicken, grilled potatoes, salad and crème brûlée. All so delicious will definitely look for other class to join.

Top: pappardelle with sausage ragu and caramelized onions Bottom: bow tie (that was a struggle) walnut pesto with goat cheese.

This review is for the homemade pasta cooking class offered at this location. I don't recall the chef's name but I really liked her. She was very engaging, and gave clear instructions. Everything was very well organized and all of the ingredients were pre-prepared for us to save time, so all we really had to do was add the ingredients when instructed to. I never made pasta from scratch before so it was fun making the kneading the dough and using the pasta tool to get the dough really thin before cutting it to the intended pasta shape. We made two kinds of pasta and both were so delicious! Definitely got some good advice and it was a fun date with my fiancé.

Warranty Experience with Chef's Toys and Mulberry Technology…read moreInitial Purchase and Expectations In 2023, we invested a total of $26,472.61, which included taxes and two warranty insurance plans, for a 3-door KINTORA refrigerator and a 2-door KINTORA freezer. Our initial experience was smooth and hassle-free, largely thanks to our salesperson, Estaban Aguirre. Unfortunately, we later discovered that Estaban was no longer with the company. The Issue Arises On March 6, 2026, the hinge of our 3-door KINTORA refrigerator broke, rendering the refrigerator unusable. Since we had purchased a warranty, we immediately reached out to Estaban for assistance, only to learn from Raul Flores that Estaban was no longer employed with Chef's Toys. Raul provided us with contact information for Mulberry Technology, who was supposed to handle our warranty claims. Challenges with the Warranty Process This marked the beginning of a frustrating ordeal. It quickly became apparent that Chef's Toys was not well-acquainted with Mulberry Technology. Raul initially gave us an incorrect contact number for starting our claim. He directed us to Joshua Wohl at Mulberry, who, while not involved in claims processing, was helpful enough to connect us with the appropriate department--after we had already experienced several unhelpful responses from Raul. After sending our purchase order to Karime, our contact at Mulberry, we learned that Chef's Toys had never registered our protection plan with Mulberry or transferred the necessary funds for our warranty. We attempted to follow up with Raul but received no response until we escalated our concerns to Chef's Toys' corporate office. Unfortunately, reaching out to their main line at 714-662-2433 during business hours of M-F between 9am-5pm only led to a voicemail, and our emails through their website also went unanswered. This is TERRIBLE! Resolution and Lingering Frustrations Eventually, Raul from Chef's Toys responded and offered a courtesy repair for our refrigerator door but informed us that our remaining warranty coverage would not be honored. This was frustrating, as we had already paid for the warranty. During this period, on March 25, the Health Department visited and deducted points from our inspection due to the non-functional equipment. We promptly notified Raul about the urgency, as another inspection was scheduled for April 6. Fortunately, the Health Department accepted our communication with Raul and a photo of the completed repair as proof. The entire process--from the breakdown on March 6 to the repair on April 6--took a full month. This delay was disappointing, especially given that waiting for a part should not have justified such a lengthy timeline; someone could have delivered the part to expedite the repair.

After cooking a casserole in the oven, the bottom of the pan cracked in a large circle visible on the inside and outside of the pan. I took the pan to the Newport Beach store where I was informed by the collective of 3 Sur la Table employees at the register that Sur La Table only has a 30 day return policy. I'm not returning this item because I'm unsatisfied with it, (it's a great pan). This falls into the Sur la Table Lifetime Warranty classification whereas this product is defective and should last YEARS...not 18 months. I have cheap Pyrex dishes that are 20 years old and have never cracked. Of all products sold at Sur La Table, I would think they would stand behind their warranty for a white labeled product, especially if defective. Since their store clerks cannot distinguish between the 30-day return policy and a lifetime warranty issue, I raised this issue one last time with their customer service department to see if they would make the effort to accommodate a loyal customer. Needless to say...the response was the same from their online customer service team. I'm DONE with Sur la table! If I could leave 0 stars, I would. Worst experience EVER and will now purchase kitchen and household items from Williams Sonoma and Pottery Barn only!

We began with the Aji tuna on crispy rice, topped with a delicate sliver of jalapeño and crispy shallots, a perfect balance of freshness, spice, and crunch. The second course was Stefanie's famous focaccia...one sweet and one savory. The savory version featured parmesan, her homemade bread and butter, pickles from her garden, and a touch of mustard seed. The bread, made simply with flour, water, and salt, takes two to three days to create. The sweet focaccia was equally impressive, topped with brie, honey, and a guava jam made from her own garden-grown guavas... truly special. Next came the sweet potato course, made from her garden's harvest and paired with roasted pine nuts and coconut-shaved gnocchi in brown butter. The flavors were rich yet comforting, and the presentation was artistic and thoughtful. The main course... short ribs with a stunning potato gratin, was a showstopper. The short ribs were tender and deeply flavorful, garnished with delicate edible flowers from her garden, while the gratin was layered beautifully and topped with a fragrant chimichurri. Dessert was one of the best I've ever had: a sticky toffee date cake with a caramel apple sauce made from apples in her garden, served with raw cream vanilla bean ice cream.
