We took the cooking class, and it was amazing! The chef was knowledgeable and made learning how to cook steak simple and fun. The food turned out delicious, and we even received the recipes to take home so we can make everything again. They went above and beyond for our birthday celebration by allowing us to bring balloons and a cake. They also let us bring our own soft drinks, which was a nice touch. We were there on Saturday, and the entire team made the experience feel special. We purchased the Sur La Table Rectangular Stoneware Casserole with Lid, 4 qt. in July 2024 from the Newport Beach, CA store. After cooking a casserole in the oven, the bottom of the pan cracked in a large circle visible on the inside and outside of the pan. I took the pan to the Newport Beach store where I was informed by the collective of 3 Sur la Table employees at the register that Sur La Table only has a 30 day return policy. I'm not returning this item because I'm unsatisfied with it, (it's a great pan). This falls into the Sur la Table Lifetime Warranty classification whereas this product is defective and should last YEARS...not 18 months. I have cheap Pyrex dishes that are 20 years old and have never cracked. Of all products sold at Sur La Table, I would think they would stand behind their warranty for a white labeled product, especially if defective. Since their store clerks cannot distinguish between the 30-day return policy and a lifetime warranty issue, I raised this issue one last time with their customer service department to see if they would make the effort to accommodate a loyal customer. Needless to say...the response was the same from their online customer service team. I'm DONE with Sur la table! If I could leave 0 stars, I would. Worst experience EVER and will now purchase kitchen and household items from Williams Sonoma and Pottery Barn only! read more

Stumbled across this while in the mall for another store. The staff were all very helpful! I wasn't looking for anything specific, just browsing. I ended up finding edible flowers in a glass jar that I plan to put in homemade butter for a nice visual appeal. I've only ever seen fresh edible flowers in some grocery stores, so this dried one is nice. The staff also made me a Nespresso as I shopped around. There was a lot of options for stainless steel and wooden cooking utensils I plan to come back and look at. read more

The cooking class here was an utter disappointment. Don't go thinking you're actually going to cook everything on the menu. Dessert is premade - and for us wasn't even fully done by the time we ate it. (Crème brûlée -horrible). Chicken was supposed to be boneless and skinless - it was airline chicken. Made salad dressing, peeled potatoes, seered chicken and made a pan sauce. Waste of money. And on top of it- the chef who taught the class started off by speaking of how he hated the hours and work as an actual chef- how delightful- right? Give me a break. Rise & Shine: Fresh Baked Bread cooking class @ Sur La Table is absolutely perfection! ! I'd been looking for a Focaccia class I liked for awhile and finally found the perfect one! Their Executive Chef, Angel, is AWESOME! He made the class so simple and fun and was so patient explaining everything and answering questions! Even though I love to cook, I always find baking breads very daunting so I really appreciated having a professional walk me through the steps! While the Italian Rosemary and Roasted Garlic Focaccia was baking, we made Homemade Salted Butter and when it came out of the oven we got to taste it while it was warm! Delicious! I highly recommend this class! In fact, everyone at the store was so friendly and helpful! I was just in there today 4/10/25 with my mom. Luciana could not have been more helpful and kind. We have plastic cutting boards and we don't want to use them so she showed me where to go and the best value and quality. As a special addition she showed us a really cool unique garlic presser that does so many things. Despite my fantastic finds Luciana was a true superstar. I'd come in your store just to show me what new items you're carrying. My experience was one of the best in a store in quite sometime. I sincerely hope that the manager, higher up or corporate notices what an overall lady and sales lady you have. Such a fun and cute experience. Gifted my a Chocolate Macron Class experience for xmas and we absolutely loved it. She loves to bake so this is all her vibe. The location is perfect, outdoor mall/shopping area. You enter and are hooked already with wanting to buy everything insight, but if you're there for the class, just wait, you get a discount. The class itself is great.. the instructor is first and foremost, patient, haha.. our class was about 2h, offered coffee, and we took home or baked goods. I do wish we were paired in 2 and not 4, just so it allows for more of a hands on experience. There were a few times some in the group were left just standing during the mixing stages. We came on a weekday and no one else was in the class except us, which was interesting The food was great and we learned a lot, however to be honest, the chef "Charlie" wasn't very welcoming or likable. He made a very daunting dish very easy with a lot of great tips general cooking tips. We made a rainbow peppercorn steak with a mushroom cognac pan sauce, heirloom tomato and peach salad with herb vinaigrette, roasted carrot and ricotta tart, and a mixed summer berry trifle. My review is for the cooking class that the store offers. This was actually given to us as a Christmas gift and the husband and I were very much looking forward to it. Although we had fun and the instructor was a very nice guy, it definitely did not meet our expectations of what it should be for what they charge for it. I will bullet point my reasons for not being completely happy with the class. *Definitely not the instructor's fault but as they normally allow it, beer & wine were not permitted in the class they say because of Covid. I am thinking that the company decided not to renew their liquor license post covid! That's fine, but I thought that it was inconsiderate of them to not at least offer water. * Be prepared to stand and eat because chairs are not put out to sit in, as well. * Our class did not even follow the menu that was presented when we signed up. There was supposed to be a Gorgonzola cheese sauce made to accompany the steak. Instead, there was no sauce, only salt and pepper. That's it. A cooking class teaching you how to salt and pepper steak steak? Not worth the money! * There were leftover popovers and instead of offering them to the three couples (including us) they were kept for the employees. It was so obvious because there was a couple that did not show up for the class and the leftover food was obviously going to the employees. I don't mind that at all, but I feel that they should've at least offered the popovers to the people that paid to take the class. They were so tiny and only one was given! Okay this review isn't so much for the store as it is for the cooking class at the store. The cooking classes here are fantastic, as are the chef and staff helping with the classes. To be real, I don't ever plan to make the fried chicken I learned how to make here. The recipe is sitting in my drawer somewhere, where it will stay. But for the cost of the class ($59) it was like eating a fancy and delicious meal. Plus if you take classes, you get a discount at the store for a limited time. It's a win-win! I think 16 people at 4 tables is too many , and 5 courses is way too many for what is supposed to be a 2-hour class. There's not enough time or instructor attention for all those people to learn any new skills or techniques. (Tthe instructor did start by showing the proper way to hold a knife, though, so I guess you can't say we didn't learn anything.) Learning two methods to poach eggs probably would have been at least one good outcome of a cooking class -- but this was a last-minute afterthought performed by the instructor alone while everyone was eating and not paying attention. Same with dessert: 3 students made it alone while everyone else was on other tasks. And it was 9:30 at night before somebody finally asked if we could eat the completed dishes that were getting cold and the other ones were still being made. Way too late at night to be eating a 5-course meal! And the instruction and ingredients didn't conform to the recipes handed out. Overall, this course needed to be thought out and executed better. And as it turned out to be more than 3 hours, it should have been scheduled as an afternoon class. read more

Went in to get a feel for a few knives I've had my eye on. There was a canopy and sign asking guests to wait by the entrance and someone would come to let you in. Consuelo came out and greeted us. As you walk in the doors, there was a hand sanitizer station as well as several hand sanitizers placed throughout the store. Consuelo assisted us throughout our shopping trip and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. She was very kind, patient and knowledgeable when it came to differences between the different brands of knives. Terrible customer service. I ordered an item for in-store pickup. The confirmation email says you must pickup within 3 days. The email also lists the store hours as 10am-9pm weekdays, so I rushed over after work and got there around 7:30pm. The doors were locked, but all the lights were on and I could see an associate at the counter. I knocked, but all she would do is shake her head and mouth that they're closed. I checked my email again and even checked the window signage which clearly states Mon-Sat open until 9pm. I knocked again, pointed to the window sign and held up 9 fingers, she motioned back 7 and then just turned away, walking around the fully-lit store, unwilling to even make eye contact. This was absolutely bizarre and had the item not been a gift for someone else, I would have cancelled the order and never returned to this store. read more

The chef was so kind and patient. We were set to make dim sum and our skills were definitely lacking. She showed us the way! We made Har Gow, Shu Mai, Gai Lan, and Egg tarts.
