Perfect location in Newport Beach. It's easy to find, parking is convenient, and you can walk right in. The best part, though, is the staff. Everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. We took the cooking class, and it was amazing! The chef was knowledgeable and made learning how to cook steak simple and fun. The food turned out delicious, and we even received the recipes to take home so we can make everything again. They went above and beyond for our birthday celebration by allowing us to bring balloons and a cake. They also let us bring our own soft drinks, which was a nice touch. We were there on Saturday, and the entire team made the experience feel special. If you're looking for a fun, interactive, and delicious experience, I highly recommend Sur La Table Cooking class. read more

Stumbled across this while in the mall for another store. The staff were all very helpful! I wasn't looking for anything specific, just browsing. I ended up finding edible flowers in a glass jar that I plan to put in homemade butter for a nice visual appeal. I've only ever seen fresh edible flowers in some grocery stores, so this dried one is nice. The staff also made me a Nespresso as I shopped around. There was a lot of options for stainless steel and wooden cooking utensils I plan to come back and look at. read more

Terrible customer service never got to use my reservation. Wasted money no offer for recourse.

We purchased the Sur La Table Rectangular Stoneware Casserole with Lid, 4 qt. in July 2024 from the Newport Beach, CA store. After cooking a casserole in the oven, the bottom of the pan cracked in a large circle visible on the inside and outside of the pan. I took the pan to the Newport Beach store where I was informed by the collective of 3 Sur la Table employees at the register that Sur La Table only has a 30 day return policy. I'm not returning this item because I'm unsatisfied with it, (it's a great pan). This falls into the Sur la Table Lifetime Warranty classification whereas this product is defective and should last YEARS...not 18 months. I have cheap Pyrex dishes that are 20 years old and have never cracked. Of all products sold at Sur La Table, I would think they would stand behind their warranty for a white labeled product, especially if defective. Since their store clerks cannot distinguish between the 30-day return policy and a lifetime warranty issue, I raised this issue one last time with their customer service department to see if they would make the effort to accommodate a loyal customer. Needless to say...the response was the same from their online customer service team. I'm DONE with Sur la table! If I could leave 0 stars, I would. Worst experience EVER and will now purchase kitchen and household items from Williams Sonoma and Pottery Barn only! read more

Review is for the cooking class Overall: Great value and experience and fun for date night or team building I've been twice. Once was a French themed night and the other was to make ravioli. Both times the instructor was fun, patient and kept things moving along nicely. If they had the option to have a glass or two of wine, it would by perfect! read more

Dear Yelp Community, I stopped in today (been here before) and was coffee open house (just my luck)! A friendly staff member made me a flat white on a Jura machine (from Switzerland); the kind with images of the different coffee drinks on the screen to select from. As an aside, good clearance section in the back of the store. Enjoy, and well wishes. Sincerely, Anna Gabriele +1 760.237.0205 read more

The cooking class here was an utter disappointment. Don't go thinking you're actually going to cook everything on the menu. Dessert is premade - and for us wasn't even fully done by the time we ate it. (Crème brûlée -horrible). Chicken was supposed to be boneless and skinless - it was airline chicken. Made salad dressing, peeled potatoes, seered chicken and made a pan sauce. Waste of money. And on top of it- the chef who taught the class started off by speaking of how he hated the hours and work as an actual chef- how delightful- right? Give me a break. We should have walked out when we got in. Don't waste time or money. read more

Had the pleasure of attending a Date Night Rustic Italian cooking class led by AngelL in Newport Beach. He conducted the class in an easy to follow format and gave lots of tips along the way. The menu tasted incredible and we are looking for the next class to take. Fun night, reasonably priced and the Chef is very engaging. Five Stars!!!! read more

Rise & Shine: Fresh Baked Bread cooking class @ Sur La Table is absolutely perfection! ! I'd been looking for a Focaccia class I liked for awhile and finally found the perfect one! Their Executive Chef, Angel, is AWESOME! He made the class so simple and fun and was so patient explaining everything and answering questions! Even though I love to cook, I always find baking breads very daunting so I really appreciated having a professional walk me through the steps! While the Italian Rosemary and Roasted Garlic Focaccia was baking, we made Homemade Salted Butter and when it came out of the oven we got to taste it while it was warm! Delicious! I highly recommend this class! In fact, everyone at the store was so friendly and helpful! They even made a cappuccino for me when I arrived and after the class you can shop with coupon you get when you register for class. Looking forward to signing up for more classes in future! read more

I was just in there today 4/10/25 with my mom. Luciana could not have been more helpful and kind. We have plastic cutting boards and we don't want to use them so she showed me where to go and the best value and quality. As a special addition she showed us a really cool unique garlic presser that does so many things. Despite my fantastic finds Luciana was a true superstar. I'd come in your store just to show me what new items you're carrying. My experience was one of the best in a store in quite sometime. I sincerely hope that the manager, higher up or corporate notices what an overall lady and sales lady you have. I can't wait to go back and buy some bunny and tulip plates just to have a wonderful satisfaction that my mom and I did today at Sue La Table Newport Beach. read more

Such a fun and cute experience. Gifted my a Chocolate Macron Class experience for xmas and we absolutely loved it. She loves to bake so this is all her vibe. The location is perfect, outdoor mall/shopping area. You enter and are hooked already with wanting to buy everything insight, but if you're there for the class, just wait, you get a discount. The class itself is great.. the instructor is first and foremost, patient, haha.. our class was about 2h, offered coffee, and we took home or baked goods. I do wish we were paired in 2 and not 4, just so it allows for more of a hands on experience. There were a few times some in the group were left just standing during the mixing stages. Overall, would definitely come back for another class! read more

Had such a fun time learning how to make some homemade pasta at a cooking class here. Came for a friend's birthday and the chef instructor was wonderful! Very informative and humorous. My food turned out delicious and I have zero skills in the kitchen. If you take a class you get a discount in the store. I ended up purchasing my first stainless steel plan (finally!). Overall, a learning experience worthwhile. read more

Came for a class hosted by their executive chef angel. Could not recommend take a class from him enough. We learned how to make beef Wellington. He made a very daunting dish very easy with a lot of great tips general cooking tips. I had even asked him about an accompanying sauce after the class and after the class he just whipped out the ingredients and made it right in front of me! Great class and easy to find store. Highly recommend. Quite a few regulars said they enjoyed this location as well! read more

We came on a weekday and no one else was in the class except us, which was interesting The food was great and we learned a lot, however to be honest, the chef "Charlie" wasn't very welcoming or likable. She seemed to be rushing and complained about not liking teaching a lot of people. Wasn't the best teacher either, I cracked an egg on the side of the bowl and she just said "wrong." So it was kind of weird. Other than that I'm sure the bigger classes with a different chef are great! read more

Terrible experience!!! If I can rate this 0 star I will. Paid for a class and was cancelled last minute because I was the only one that signed up! Like why is that my problem! I paid for the class then teach me the class! It doesn't even mentioned anywhere that there's a minimum number of students! Why offer a class when you can't even fullfill the service of teaching it! Shouldn't have allotted my time for this company only to cancel the last minute! Will not go back to this place ever again! P.S. They took down my review in their website! It looks like they filter out some bad reviews! Not good! read more

We went to the Beef Wellington class with Chef Quincy. It was fantastic, Thank You for a great time.

Don't buy anything at this store. They have terrible customer service and very deceiving when selling their pots and pans. Their pants are not good quality and they will not honor their return policy. I will never buy anything at the store again. So many better options like Williams Sonoma with great customer service who are actually educated. read more

My review is for the cooking class that the store offers. This was actually given to us as a Christmas gift and the husband and I were very much looking forward to it. Although we had fun and the instructor was a very nice guy, it definitely did not meet our expectations of what it should be for what they charge for it. I will bullet point my reasons for not being completely happy with the class. *Definitely not the instructor's fault but as they normally allow it, beer & wine were not permitted in the class they say because of Covid. I am thinking that the company decided not to renew their liquor license post covid! That's fine, but I thought that it was inconsiderate of them to not at least offer water. * Be prepared to stand and eat because chairs are not put out to sit in, as well. * Our class did not even follow the menu that was presented when we signed up. There was supposed to be a Gorgonzola cheese sauce made to accompany the steak. Instead, there was no sauce, only salt and pepper. That's it. A cooking class teaching you how to salt and pepper steak steak? Not worth the money! * There were leftover popovers and instead of offering them to the three couples (including us) they were kept for the employees. It was so obvious because there was a couple that did not show up for the class and the leftover food was obviously going to the employees. I don't mind that at all, but I feel that they should've at least offered the popovers to the people that paid to take the class. They were so tiny and only one was given! All in all not the best experience and not worth the money. read more

My wife received expensive gift insulated glasses from Sur La Table. They were so poorly made that they shattered from thermal stress with just ice put in them. When returned, the impolite employee blamed my wife for putting too much thermal stress on the glass and would not give any type of compensation. We will never buy anything again from this store for the poor quality of expensive merchandise and even more for their impolite refusal to stand behind their products. read more

Okay this review isn't so much for the store as it is for the cooking class at the store. The cooking classes here are fantastic, as are the chef and staff helping with the classes. To be real, I don't ever plan to make the fried chicken I learned how to make here. The recipe is sitting in my drawer somewhere, where it will stay. Sur la table is definitely going downhill. It's not how it used to be when the place was overfilling with goodies like a candy store. I used to want buy everything there. Now nothing appeals to me. That's not the major problem tho. The customer service is dreadful. Mitchell is very self righteous and acts like a know-it-all. When I asked him to scan the coupon code I had, he refused because he said it doesn't work. When he begrudgingly did, it went through. Instead of saying, oh wow glad we tried it, he looked upset that he was wrong! What a sour man. And Tina, is such an unaccommodating manager ! Not helpful at all. read more

I use to love this place but they have the worst customer service. (Newport Beach location is consistently the worse). I was going to spend a really good amount of money for 3 really nice gifts. The entire time I was there not one greeting. There's so many other stores that you can shop upscale and get much better service and selections, try William Sonoma. The selection has really gone down hill. Such a disappointment. read more

I think 16 people at 4 tables is too many , and 5 courses is way too many for what is supposed to be a 2-hour class. There's not enough time or instructor attention for all those people to learn any new skills or techniques. (Tthe instructor did start by showing the proper way to hold a knife, though, so I guess you can't say we didn't learn anything.) Learning two methods to poach eggs probably would have been at least one good outcome of a cooking class -- but this was a last-minute afterthought performed by the instructor alone while everyone was eating and not paying attention. Same with dessert: 3 students made it alone while everyone else was on other tasks. And it was 9:30 at night before somebody finally asked if we could eat the completed dishes that were getting cold and the other ones were still being made. Way too late at night to be eating a 5-course meal! And the instruction and ingredients didn't conform to the recipes handed out. Overall, this course needed to be thought out and executed better. And as it turned out to be more than 3 hours, it should have been scheduled as an afternoon class. read more

Went in to get a feel for a few knives I've had my eye on. There was a canopy and sign asking guests to wait by the entrance and someone would come to let you in. Consuelo came out and greeted us. Consuelo assisted us throughout our shopping trip and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. My fiancé had organized this thoughtful birthday surprise for us to enjoy as a couple. However, when we arrived to find no seating arrangements had been made.
