I called on Saturday morning around 10:45 am to ask about helium balloon bouquets and whether I needed to order ahead of time. I was interested in purchasing between two to four bouquets depending on the size. I was told it would be best to come into the store to choose the balloons and colors, and I mentioned that I would be coming in later that afternoon. When I entered the store, I noticed the balloon bar was located in the back corner of the store, so I walked over there right away. At the time, the staff was helping another customer with a wrapping order. While I waited, no one at the balloon counter acknowledged that I was there or mentioned they would be with me shortly. When it was finally my turn, I asked about ordering two to four balloon bouquets depending on size. I was told they did not have time to make four bouquets. I then asked if two bouquets were possible, and I was told they could do two but that it would take about 30 minutes. The surprise party started at 5 pm, so I had a little buffer and decided to move forward with the order. The balloons are definitely on the pricey side, but the overall look made it worth it. One additional issue was during checkout. It's not clear where the checkout line starts and people just wait on either side of counter, creating confusion of who's first. read more

I only put 5 starts to have my review kept on here. I would give ZERO if it was an option!! BUT OMG I WAS IN SHOCK WHEN I PAID $43 for literally only 2 balloons!!! The most overpriced balloons I've EVER purchased in my life!! Staff was ok but definitely not welcoming nor kind. As soon as I walked into the store I got stared down by all the white woman in the store. I was definitely getting racially profiled. Probably because I'm a hot Latina woman. The lady who assisted me with the balloons was very cold and dry even with my positive attitude towards her. I worked at where's the party for a very short amount of time, (4 weeks). The only reason is because I was hired for a district that gifted me health insurance! The atmosphere inside the store is very bougie and I love that! The culture is very inclusive. I loved working there for the short amount of time I was able to! Friday Sept 16th marks my very last visit to this business. I've always been fond of this store, I remember it having quality items & doesn't have run of the mill party merchandise like Party City. I came here very excited to look for baby items for a gender reveal. Upon entering this establishment, first off no one even greeted me. I also noticed the smell of the store smelled very musty + old like the product has been sitting for quite some time. I looked around & was very surprised to not see any baby themed items for sale ! I was only to locate gifts. The shelves seemed very bare too which is sad. I would much rather support a local brick & mortar store than an online giant. Since I drove the way I had to buy something so I ended up purchasing a birthday card. The lady at the register was quite rude. Did not even acknowledge my presence or ask if I found everything I was looking for. There was another customer with a lot of items & the lady wanted to help her first. Luckily the other customer was nice & spoke up to tell the worker I was there first. How is this even acceptable ? When I was browsing by the balloon area there was some workers there filling up balloons. Even there, no hi/hello or asking if I needed help. It his store is such a gem and I am so happy these masks brought me in here. We spoke with a number of designers, but after viewing their work ,decided on Where's the Party. They were able to do everything we requested, offered beautiful paper, were surprisingly well priced and had really creative ideas. I have received so many compliments on our invitations and day of paper goods, it's been amazing. They kept me well informed, delivered in a timely manner, and were a lot of fun to work with. I ordered balloons over the phone last minute and got exactly what I needed. I knew these balloons would be high quality as well as pretty to look at. I needed a cheetah print balloon and sure enough they had some! When I arrived to pick them up, Candy the person I placed my order with, she said she added a few pearl balloons for free because it looked a little dark. That was very sweet of her! Every review I've read mimics the same experience as I had. I was looking for some wrapping paper and ribbon/ bows. There were about 6 people working and not one person asked if I needed help. The store didn't have a lot of inventory and I didn't really love what I purchased. I won't be back. Very disappointing customer service. Their receipts say they accept returns for store credit within thirty days- however they do not. They have a NON-VISIBLE sign on the counter -she literally had to pull the sign out of a pile of merchandise on the counter to show it to me- that says almost all merchandise is exempt from this policy. If it is a "seasonal item" it is non returnable. Almost 50% of their merchandise is seasonal- and there was an extensive list of items that also weren't covered on the tiny sign that was not pointed out to me at the time of the sale. They should tell customers that items are non-refundable. I get it if it's something they aren't currently selling anymore- but the item I was attempting to return was still on the display and clearly still sellable- and they were unwilling to refund me. Their greedy policies only cost them returning customers. read more

I was looking for a gift wrapping service. I had checked out Paper Source, Papyrus, and Where's the Party. This one stop shop for all party needs exceeded my expectations. I called ahead to see if they offer gift wrapping service. Megan was super helpful and advised me to come in so she can see my gift and come up with a great presentation. Dede was able to help me when I arrived. Her customer service, professionalism, and expertise was more than I expected. I felt like a valued customer with her service. The pricing is very reasonable and the turnaround time was excellent. I didn't purchase any items during my visit because I was short on time. They have such a variety of unique party supplies that supersede Party City and Michaels. But the main reason people should visit Where's the Party is for their Service. Definitely 5 out of 5! As far as fancy party stores go, this one is top notch. You can easily go wayyyyy past your initial budget while browsing through their many aisles that they have very nicely organized into various themes for party ideas. They even had an aisle of stuff all in a unicorn theme that I wanted to buy every single item - except I was shopping for Easter so I had to resist. I also like that they carry quite a few baby items like holiday bibs, headbands, etc. Everything - from balloons to centerpieces - looks very good quality and beautifully designed. They also have an Instagram account that they update about what they have in stock which is helpful. Even though it's out of my way, I'll make an effort to come here if I need something special for a party. Sidecar Doughnuts is in the same plaza, as is Nothing Bundt Cakes, and they make nice secondary reasons for the visit. read more

Beware of the no return policy. I would think a party store would be more flexible considering the business they are in is pretty whimsical, ie parties! I was beyond excited to shop at this local business as I am a Costa Mesa resident. I am a new mom planning my daughters first birthday (all of the emotions). When my daughter and I walked into the darling boutique, I was immediately drawn to the decor and cute set up! Wasn't even a moment later that my excitement diminished when I smiled at the front cashier and received no acknowledgement in return. Walked through the entire store so eager to spend money! When I asked about balloons for my daughter bday, there was zero interest in helping guide my interest. I've never hosted a birthday party before and needed some help. Instead I got short answers and felt brushed off. I walked away feeling extremely underwhelmed with my experience and disappointed. It is nice to see that others have had a positive experience, there must be a special club you have to be apart of to get the service and attention you deserve. We had the most incredible experience at Where's the Party working with Pam and her graphic design team. Pam was wonderful to work with. She's very calm, thoughtful, realistic and had a great vision. We used Where's the Party to print our wedding invitations, welcome signs, table place cards, table numbers, seating chart, bar signs, cocktail napkins, bathroom napkins and rehearsal invitations. Read the rest of the reviews here... they are either 5 starts or one star meaning somebody else is writing their 5 star reviews for them... the woman who took my call about balloons HUNG UP on me without even saying goodbye when I asked if it was okay for them to pre blow up balloons for a party we were having. When I arrived the woman with short brown hair who was rather thin legit didn't look up, greet me, or say thank you when I checked out.
