I called on Saturday morning around 10:45 am to ask about helium balloon bouquets and whether I needed to order ahead of time. I was interested in purchasing between two to four bouquets depending on the size. I was told it would be best to come into the store to choose the balloons and colors, and I mentioned that I would be coming in later that afternoon. When I entered the store, I noticed the balloon bar was located in the back corner of the store, so I walked over there right away. At the time, the staff was helping another customer with a wrapping order. While I waited, no one at the balloon counter acknowledged that I was there or mentioned they would be with me shortly. When it was finally my turn, I asked about ordering two to four balloon bouquets depending on size. I was told they did not have time to make four bouquets. I then asked if two bouquets were possible, and I was told they could do two but that it would take about 30 minutes. The surprise party started at 5 pm, so I had a little buffer and decided to move forward with the order. The balloons are definitely on the pricey side, but the overall look made it worth it. One additional issue was during checkout. It's not clear where the checkout line starts and people just wait on either side of counter, creating confusion of who's first. read more

Their staff is really helpful and their selection is really good. They changed their displays often.

I only put 5 starts to have my review kept on here. I would give ZERO if it was an option!! BUT OMG I WAS IN SHOCK WHEN I PAID $43 for literally only 2 balloons!!! The most overpriced balloons I've EVER purchased in my life!! Staff was ok but definitely not welcoming nor kind. As soon as I walked into the store I got stared down by all the white woman in the store. I was definitely getting racially profiled. Probably because I'm a hot Latina woman. The lady who assisted me with the balloons was very cold and dry even with my positive attitude towards her. Anyway I don't recommend coming here if you're looking for something more reasonably affordable and better human decency towards customers. read more

Where's The Party? - Balloons - Party Supplies Near Me - Costa Mesa, California

If you're planning any kind of celebration, run -- don't walk -- to Where's The Party in Costa Mesa. I can't say enough good things about this place. It's the kind of local gem that makes you want to throw a party just so you have an excuse to go back. Let's start with the balloons. Their selection is insane -- in the best way. From trendy neutrals and pastels to bold, colorful statement pieces, they have literally everything. Need something custom? They'll make it happen. I came in with a loose theme and left with a perfectly curated balloon setup that stole the show at my event. Everything was beautifully done, super fresh, and lasted for days after. The store itself is spotless. Not like fake tidy, but genuinely clean and organized in a way that makes you feel like you're in good hands. Even the displays are done with care. It's the kind of place where you just know everything is high quality because they clearly care about every detail. But what really makes this place special is the customer service. Everyone who works there is warm, helpful, and creative. They don't just take your order -- they get excited with you. They asked the right questions, gave helpful suggestions, and even remembered me when I came back for another event. It feels more like working with a party planning buddy than shopping at a store. Bottom line: Where's The Party is fun, stress-free, and just plain awesome. Whether you need a few balloons or a whole party vibe, this is the place to go. Five stars, easily. I wish every business ran like this. read more

Christine was great, shop here! My girlfriend loved her jelly cat!! I will be coming back!

Had an incredible experience here. Julia Wherry was such a pleasure and so informative. She answered all my questions, with patience, and was super helpful with getting us started on our wedding invitations. She showed us an amazing selection of options and ensured that we were understanding all of the info as we went. So excited for our invites! Thank you! read more

I worked at where's the party for a very short amount of time, (4 weeks). The only reason is because I was hired for a district that gifted me health insurance! The atmosphere inside the store is very bougie and I love that! The culture is very inclusive. I loved working there for the short amount of time I was able to! I will always go back to say hi to Julie, Catherine, Alondra and the rest of the crew! The manager who owns the store is beyond amazing I will always keep her in my prayers! read more

Truly one of my favorite places to get balloon arrangements from. Little pricey for a lot Of their store items but can find cute items for every occasion read more

Friday Sept 16th marks my very last visit to this business. I've always been fond of this store, I remember it having quality items & doesn't have run of the mill party merchandise like Party City. I came here very excited to look for baby items for a gender reveal. Upon entering this establishment, first off no one even greeted me. I also noticed the smell of the store smelled very musty + old like the product has been sitting for quite some time. I looked around & was very surprised to not see any baby themed items for sale ! I was only to locate gifts. The shelves seemed very bare too which is sad. I would much rather support a local brick & mortar store than an online giant. Since I drove the way I had to buy something so I ended up purchasing a birthday card. The lady at the register was quite rude. Did not even acknowledge my presence or ask if I found everything I was looking for. There was another customer with a lot of items & the lady wanted to help her first. Luckily the other customer was nice & spoke up to tell the worker I was there first. How is this even acceptable ? When I was browsing by the balloon area there was some workers there filling up balloons. Even there, no hi/hello or asking if I needed help. Very disappointing experience to this lovely store, I guess I will be ordering everything online now. read more

Love love love this store as long as they have been open! The cutest party supplies and SO much more. Don't go to Amazon!!! Shop local!! It's better quality and the personalized help. I had the biggest blonde moment.. not the first lol my friends husband invited me on a Duffy ride for her birthday Sunday . Well I heard Saturday I guess. I asked if I can bring balloons. So I called Where's The Party of course. I wanted pink and gold because my bestie loves Veuve Rose Brut Champagne and the woman who helped knew exactly what to do. I was so excited! Then the Duffy ride is Sunday!! I called, I e mailed. Saturday morning I called before opening, they answered and saved the day ! Thank you read more

These designer inspired face masks are made of the softest satin/silk and feel so wonderful on my face even after wearing them all day at work. It his store is such a gem and I am so happy these masks brought me in here. Christine was so helpful my new best friend, calling me with updates on when the masks would restock all week because I needed to purchase one as a present. Come here for all your party needs and such great gift ideas too! So many options for parties, themes and invitations. I can't wait to bring my mom here when she is visiting me from Connecticut. read more

We worked with Matt and Violeta on many different items for our daughter's wedding and the process and outcome were exceptional! Their attention to detail, design aesthetic, responsiveness, and production quality were incomparable. They made us information cards to go in the welcome bags, gorgeous place card/menu items, table numbers and the seating chart cards. While everything turned out absolutely gorgeous, it as the outstanding customer service that really made the difference. I can't recommend them enough! read more

Great place to purchase cards but if you need formal invitation go elsewhere. We needed a simple save the date and waited weeks only to receive a very cheap looking design. Great for a casual bbq but not a formal Event. read more

First off Yelp is so awful highlighting bad reviews that don't even make sense. This place is amazing I've had the pleasure of taking my two kids here for years and the staff always is amazing engaging with them and giving them a balloon. This place deserves 5 stars all day. Shame on you Yelp. read more

I ordered balloons over the phone last minute and got exactly what I needed. I knew these balloons would be high quality as well as pretty to look at. I needed a cheetah print balloon and sure enough they had some! When I arrived to pick them up, Candy the person I placed my order with, she said she added a few pearl balloons for free because it looked a little dark. That was very sweet of her! Anyways, I liked how convenient it was to place an order over the phone. Highly recommend ordering balloons here. read more

Every review I've read mimics the same experience as I had. I was looking for some wrapping paper and ribbon/ bows. There were about 6 people working and not one person asked if I needed help. The store didn't have a lot of inventory and I didn't really love what I purchased. I won't be back. Loved the idea of supporting a local business, but the lack of care and customer service was a deal breaker. I was even more compelled to write this review after talking to my friend who went the next day and had the same experience. read more

Such a wonderfully stocked party store. I never leave disappointed or empty handed! And love the staff....

Pam at Where's the Party helped us put together the most beautiful invitations and paper goods for our daughter's wedding. We spoke with a number of designers, but after viewing their work ,decided on Where's the Party. They were able to do everything we requested, offered beautiful paper, were surprisingly well priced and had really creative ideas. I have received so many compliments on our invitations and day of paper goods, it's been amazing. They kept me well informed, delivered in a timely manner, and were a lot of fun to work with. We have been recommending them to all of our friends and will definitely work with them again. read more

Horrible Customer service. I've been reading comments about racism I just hope that's not the case. No greetings, no eye contact, no service... I felt the difference between how they treated others and me, maybe they didnt see me as a serious customer, Candy and Christine didn't want to waste time. Racism, classism maybe a bad day, I don't know. Just don't waste your time even going to this store. Nothing special, bad designs, expensive, you can buy all of this at Walmart or 99 cents store. read more

Store has the cutest items but staff is so rude. I have never been acknowledged when I go in. It feels like the staff looks down on you and judge shoppers. They even bicker and shout amongst themselves in front of people. read more

Very disappointing customer service. Their receipts say they accept returns for store credit within thirty days- however they do not. They have a NON-VISIBLE sign on the counter -she literally had to pull the sign out of a pile of merchandise on the counter to show it to me- that says almost all merchandise is exempt from this policy. If it is a "seasonal item" it is non returnable. Almost 50% of their merchandise is seasonal- and there was an extensive list of items that also weren't covered on the tiny sign that was not pointed out to me at the time of the sale. They should tell customers that items are non-refundable. I get it if it's something they aren't currently selling anymore- but the item I was attempting to return was still on the display and clearly still sellable- and they were unwilling to refund me. Their greedy policies only cost them returning customers. read more

Always great ideas, fabulous merchandise and wonderful people to help with the any and all of your party needs!

I was looking for a gift wrapping service. I had checked out Paper Source, Papyrus, and Where's the Party. This one stop shop for all party needs exceeded my expectations. I called ahead to see if they offer gift wrapping service. Megan was super helpful and advised me to come in so she can see my gift and come up with a great presentation. Dede was able to help me when I arrived. Her customer service, professionalism, and expertise was more than I expected. I felt like a valued customer with her service. The pricing is very reasonable and the turnaround time was excellent. I didn't purchase any items during my visit because I was short on time. They have such a variety of unique party supplies that supersede Party City and Michaels. But the main reason people should visit Where's the Party is for their Service. Definitely 5 out of 5! Highly recommend this store. read more

I wasn't sure what I was going to do about wedding invites. I wanted something very custom and rich looking. Like "count of monte Cristo" inspired invitations. In order to get that, I'd have to design them myself. It was a very easy process and I couldn't have been happier. They were ready within 2 weeks. I'd defiantly recommend this store for invitations. read more

Lifesaver! I had tried to do online wedding invitations, but frankly just got too distracted by all the options. Matt helped me narrow down my ideas and had wonderful input as to the spacing, design and correct way to "send" a formal invitation. His calm demeanor was so helpful and I was so pleased with the outcome. Definitely recommend going with Where's the Party for any future invitations! read more

As far as fancy party stores go, this one is top notch. You can easily go wayyyyy past your initial budget while browsing through their many aisles that they have very nicely organized into various themes for party ideas. They even had an aisle of stuff all in a unicorn theme that I wanted to buy every single item - except I was shopping for Easter so I had to resist. I also like that they carry quite a few baby items like holiday bibs, headbands, etc. Everything - from balloons to centerpieces - looks very good quality and beautifully designed. They also have an Instagram account that they update about what they have in stock which is helpful. Even though it's out of my way, I'll make an effort to come here if I need something special for a party. Sidecar Doughnuts is in the same plaza, as is Nothing Bundt Cakes, and they make nice secondary reasons for the visit. read more

I needed some pre purchased balloons filled with helium and Where's The Party was the prefect place to have this done. It was significantly cheaper than what Party City quoted me, everyone who works here is super nice and helpful, and it was quick and easy. Highly recommend! read more

Beware of the no return policy. I would think a party store would be more flexible considering the business they are in is pretty whimsical, ie parties! Plans can change quickly when planning holiday and personal events. I'll stick with the .99 cent store, Target and Walmart. I'm done with Where's The Party. FYI, parking lot is always packed! read more

I love this store so much. Been shopping here for 20 years. However ever since they hired the mean balloon lady with short brown hair I stay clear. She is so awful to work with. Her attitude towards customers is horrible. I have spoken to other people and they have encountered the same experience. She doesnt seem very stable to work as well. Hope they can figure this out because I know it's hurting their business. read more

I was beyond excited to shop at this local business as I am a Costa Mesa resident. I am a new mom planning my daughters first birthday (all of the emotions). When my daughter and I walked into the darling boutique, I was immediately drawn to the decor and cute set up! Wasn't even a moment later that my excitement diminished when I smiled at the front cashier and received no acknowledgement in return. Walked through the entire store so eager to spend money! When I asked about balloons for my daughter bday, there was zero interest in helping guide my interest. I've never hosted a birthday party before and needed some help. Instead I got short answers and felt brushed off. I walked away feeling extremely underwhelmed with my experience and disappointed. It is nice to see that others have had a positive experience, there must be a special club you have to be apart of to get the service and attention you deserve. Hope this shop does better expressing value to their customers in the future. read more

We usually purchase from This location because of how close it is to our home and the customer service here is TERRIBLE! Read the rest of the reviews here... they are either 5 starts or one star meaning somebody else is writing their 5 star reviews for them... the woman who took my call about balloons HUNG UP on me without even saying goodbye when I asked if it was okay for them to pre blow up balloons for a party we were having. When I arrived the woman with short brown hair who was rather thin legit didn't look up, greet me, or say thank you when I checked out. Their balloons are $16 a piece and you'd think it it's that Mark up you'd get a hello and a thank you from a Business. DO NOT GO HERE ... plenty of other great options read more

We had the most incredible experience at Where's the Party working with Pam and her graphic design team. Pam was wonderful to work with. She's very calm, thoughtful, realistic and had a great vision. We used Where's the Party to print our wedding invitations, welcome signs, table place cards, table numbers, seating chart, bar signs, cocktail napkins, bathroom napkins and rehearsal invitations. Each item came out better than I could have expected. I cannot recommend Pam enough, she made my vision come to life better than I could have ever imagined! read more

Considering most of their customers are planning love-centered events like weddings and baby showers, you'd think this store would make shopping a pleasant experience. And they do -- if you're over 40, blonde, and have some sort of status purse. If you look like normal 20somethings, you're ignored, every time. I feel like I could have been Arnold's fiancee, given how closely his experience mirrors mine. My husband and I went to this store to buy letterpress invites and ended up using an Internet vendor whose designs we ended up preferring. However, we originally went to WTP planning to shell out $1500 that day for our invites. I am so glad we didn't, since if they treat potential customers like dirt, service likely wouldn't have improved once they had our money in pocket. read more

I didn't go here for my wedding invitations (thank goodness, if these reviews are any indication), but I did come here on two separate occasions to get invitations for my bridal shower (if you want something done right you have to do it yourself, right?) and my rehearsal dinner. I LOVE their selection of ready-made invitations. I got super, super cute invitations for both of these events that my guests just LOVED. Their selection of adorable ready-made invites is what gets them two stars. Just like these other yelpers, I had crappy service here. All I really needed from the staff was the envelopes that went with my invites and a few extras they had stashed in the back. That's it. You would have thought I was asking them to sit down and teach me Spanish. I couldn't get them to even stop when they walked by. I was obviously standing there in need of something. I had a helpless look on my face and I was standing there with invitations in my hand. Reading these other reviews I'm thinking it must have been because I rolled up in my PJs with no makeup on with my Target purse. Whatever. Honestly, I'll probably go back here for invitations for my friend's baby shower that I'm planning. Maybe I'll do an experiment and throw on my designer jeans and bring my nice purse and put on makeup and do my hair and see if I get better service. I'll check back and let you know. read more
