This store always provides what I need and the clothes are amazing quality. I have been shopping there for myself and my grandchildren for so long and I absolutely love how kind the service is. The people working there are always so kind and are always willing to help and interact with you. I can always count on the Red Balloon when it comes to the value of the clothes, the amazing service, and how much they have to offer. Be warned, you will be judged, given side eye looks, and be treated rudely if you are not their typical clientele. Only one person "greeted" us - if then, this greeting was one of judgement. We were well aware of the dynamics within Newport Beach where non-white people will be treated differently. I was prepared and knew the demographic makeup. So, if you are not white and thin, please spend your money elsewhere. There are lot more small/women owned boutiques that will appreciate your hard earned money. Maybe other boutiques will have a larger selection of clothes, brands, and sizes. Not worth the visit. I'm embarrassed to have made it a point to come here while on a mini day trip to Newport Beach. Again, POC do not come here! They think we don't have money to buy their items and will keep a watchful eye on you while other shoppers get better experiences and treatment. read more

This is a luxury boutique that carries items ranging from baby wash to adult clothes and jewelry. The store is quite busy and feels overwhelming when you first enter. Guests goes between this store and the store next door (same owner). At first I wasn't sure who was working there, but a nice lady in a face cover approached me and asked if I needed help. She got my baby shampoo (but didn't have the baby body wash) that I was looking for and pointed me to the cashier. The cashier wasn't very friendly or talkative so it felt a little awkward standing there waiting for her to ring me up. I feel that this store is more appropriate for the locals in the area as it's kinda far and out of the way for us. read more

I like to spend money, yes I am not a typical Newport Beach shopper. These ladies are judgmental and as I was in the dressing room very gossipy I overheard them talking about someone Mayb a customer. I pretty much had to ask to be helped and her face as beautiful as it might be looked disgusted at me. FYI I have a voluptuous body and they don't carry large only size zero & 1s and small and medium. So yah inclusivity not happening. Overall Newport lacks diversity as well. Shopping here is actually enjoyable because of the amazing employees who work here. Taylor, McCall and Olive are my personal shoppers even if they don't know it. They make coming in so fun, they are always pulling what they think will look best on me and genuinely interested in what looks good, plus they give honest feedback! Best service. Best clothes. Best everything. They get to know you personally and don't treat you like a sale. They all have the best style, personalities and so much more. All of my clothes since I was a baby have been from here. I hate hate hate trying on clothes in a store but coming here it's such a breeze and I always leave with more and better outfits than I planned on getting. The moment I walked in, all sales associates were avoidant and did not talk to me. They talked to other people walking in but made it an intention to avoid me. This was unless I picked something off the wrack then they were adamant about making sure to take the clothes out of my hands. When I was little, my aunt used to shop for my cousin and me at a place called Red Balloon over at Mainplace Mall. I'm not sure if this is the same owner but just seeing the name made me nostalgic. My kids and I took a peek and loved everything we saw! My preteen managed to find a skirt she loved and my son didn't want to leave the toy section in the back. I only come here for the kid's section. Red Balloon carries adorable kid's clothes. I have never experienced any rudeness from any of the sales people, but I am purchasing for children. They have a selection of toys, pajamas, and swimwear in the back. The only thing I don't love is when they make orders, they don't order the same item again after that. So I've come across cute short and shirt sets where they had the size I needed in shirt but not shorts. I do wish they had a bit more in sizes 5-7. They're often picked clean. read more

I stopped by the smaller, more casual side of the two Red Balloon stores today to purchase some tees. The two sales associates were very unfriendly from the moment I walked in, and straight up rude when I was making my purchase. The girl that rang me up rudely tossed the pen at me and told me to sign the receipt without so much as a smile or a "thanks!". I won't be giving them my business in the future. I agree with the other negative reviews. I thought it was my imagination but then reading the other reviews I realized it was not. I actually purchased a top from the Red Balloon Two and was asked for an id. While I appreciate a businesses making sure that I'm the owner of the card, the associates were just snooty. I go to Anthropologie all the time and spend $300 on up and never get asked about an id but more importantly I am treated well and the customer service is excellent (Fashion Island location). You never know who will walk though the door. Did these associates learn anything from Pretty Woman and the infamous scene "big mistake, huge!" ? I really want to support local places especially ones that sell clothing made in the USA. I found the company Stateside there but I am choosing to get my clothes directly from them instead and skip the judgement. read more

It's not someplace I would normally buy baby clothes but I was invited to a chi-chi baby shower and Target or even Baby Gap just wont do! I found a cute outfit here and they gift wrapped it so adorable for me. The sales girls were all very nice and helpful. The store has baby and kids clothes at the front of the store and adult clothes in the back. Again, super pricey (at least for me). Shopped here before didn't really have a problem. But this last time I went in I was ready to shop. I wanted to treat myself to some nice jewelry and a few pairs of jeans. I alway spend money coming to this store. But this last time wow I could not have been more of an inconvenience. I was looking at the jewelry at the counter and clothes were covering it. I asked nicely if I could look the lady rolled her eyes huffed and went behind the counter. She was so unhelpful, was giving me attitude and was bothered that I wanted to look at the rings. This was my first time visiting these two stores (I also went next door to TRB Too). They were having a 50 % off sale, so I was able to splurge a bit on Free People (full price but worth it) plus a cute Lauren Moshi tshirt and Ebergee sweater! The saleslady took the time to pull out some green errant threads from the pink sweater, and the two young ladies on the other side of the shop were so pleasant and made me feel so welcome!
