When I used to live in this area I would come to this Ralph's often, as they had everything I need, and a lot of stuff I didn't even know that I needed. Super easy to find and very convenient. The store itself is always well stocked and well maintained. Whoever manages this store does a great job of making sure everything is faced properly and everything always seems to be in order. They always have a great selection of produce, as well as a great meat section kind of so you really can't beat it when it comes to great seafoods and meats. With plenty of parking, this place is a definite go-to if you happen to live in the area. Definitely check it out when you're there. Bottom line? There are always a lot of shopping centers and stores to choose from. I always try to go where I know they have the best products, the best price and the best selection. I rarely leave reviews, but this visit to Ralphs deserves a public service announcement. Customer service here was essentially nonexistent. From the bakery to Starbucks to the checkout lanes, every interaction felt like I had somehow interrupted everyone's day simply by being a customer. The staff I encountered were consistently rude, unhelpful, and surprisingly unprofessional. Questions were met with blank stares or short answers, and smiles appeared to be in shorter supply than some of the shelves. It genuinely felt like helping customers was the last thing on anyone's to-do list. If you're planning a visit, just know that friendly service probably isn't on the menu here. Don't expect a smile, and definitely don't expect anyone to go out of their way to assist you. On the bright side, the trip was efficient I got in, got out, and learned exactly where not to shop again. Unfortunately, even if this were the last grocery store left in the state, I'd still be strongly considering alternative food sources. To start here a friend of mind and I were in just to use the coin star machine. After receiving the voucher, we went to self-checkout and was approached by an extremely RUDE cashier named Karen. She not only had an attitude that does not belong in customer service. When Karen said to hang on and I said no problem she turned to me quickly and said I was not talking to you! After the transaction she turned to my friend and said thank you, looked at me with a very nasty look. I said you're NOT welcome after that interaction and walked out. I can't believe I was treated this way at ralphs Westcliff. I will NEVER GO BACK TO THIS STORE because of this. To the managers of this store, you need to have a very long chat with your employees about common customer service etiquette. Hands down the nicest most helpful meat counter staff ever. They will explain everything, the best cut, how to cook it, etc. Lots of affordable organic items. The only bummer here is about 8pm the whole place starts shutting down and the staff close their registers. Then they stand around up front clearly wanting everyone to hurry so they can go home. The line gets really crazy for the self-checkout, and is worse when people try to purchase alcohol. There is ZERO efficiency gained for this store by closing all check out counters so early. read more

Horrible place to shop. Normally, I find grocery shopping to be relaxing. This place has terrible service, it's lacking in having the items that I need especially unique items, and they try to close the store earlier than they're supposed to close so they can get out of there quickly by shutting one door and blocking it off and then putting a lot of carts in the way of the main door so you can't even get in. Rude rude rude employees!!! Lady acted so put out that I wanted an actual check stand open (uhhhh not doing self-check with $150 worth of groceries). I told her it was my first time at that store, and that we had just moved to the area and I downloaded the app so that I could figure out how to get the digital deals by clipping the coupons. As she was ringing me up, I set up my account and then when I asked her how to clip the coupons, she acted like I was a total idiot. I mean yes, I would have figured it out but figured I'd ask you since you probably know...(nobody in line behind me at 8 am on a Sunday morning but her attitude would've made you think I was holding up a long line)! Then she told me to enter my phone number on the keypad at her register... and then gave me my total before I clipped the coupons. When I reminded her I needed to clip the coupons she got super irritated and gave me such an attitude. The courtesy clerk (bagger kept snickering and rolling her eyes at me when she didn't think I was looking at her.) I'll NEVER go back to this store!!! Really? Ever since they pulled the real people from the registers and put the self check out it's been a nightmare. Ridiculous lines and today the manager was checking and bagging groceries while the line backed up into the freezer section. Five stars for Edgar over in the meat department. Forgot to write this earlier... this took place Saturday 7-11-2020 if I remember correctly. Anyways, Edgar helped me at the meat counter but it was afterwards that he really gave some excellent customer service. He noticed my basket was over full and that I was having trouble placing more items in it, I'm not the best at Tetris. Edgar then offered to get me a cart to which I said, no it's okay, I can get it, but he proceeded to get me a cart anyways. Like what? Who does that nowadays? INCREDIBLE character. Speaks volumes in the best way possible. So Edgar, sorry this is a week late, but thank you for helping me out. It was such a simple gesture but has so much gravity behind it. I really love this RALPHS!!! I go just about every other day for their locally sourced fresh organically grown produce wether it's nectarines peaches apples watermelon mangoes bananas potatoes rosemary oregano and fresh thyme jalapeños and they're fresh cheeses on display all the hummus that you can pick out of every different flavor in the world that you can think of and their meat selection is amazing I highly recommend that if you're in the area go visit this place and they got a very cool gift card section they organized and you know there's no mess it's just a really really really nice Ralphs read more

Old Caucasian Ralphs clerk with glasses on Monday 11:30am just took long time at the men's restroom and left with crazy amount of poop splashes all over the toilet seat and outside. I was waiting outside to take a piss and man... Gross!!! I immediately left the store, not even trying to fully get in the restroom either. As I was leaving the old clerk was announcing to the store "Security, code 13 in aisle blah blah." lmao I guess that code means gross stuffs in the toilet to be cleaned. I like that their avocados are usually on sale but their napa cabbage was rotten as they did not check the backside of them so that was a turn off. Purple potatoes were great until they were still selling the old expired ones. When they have fresh specialty mushrooms its great. They dont carry my favorite wine gums and refuse to order them even though i offered to buy 10 boxes so i have to drive to the other ralphs down the street to get them Stupid!!!! The sushi kiosks in all Ralph's markets are individually owned by AFC. I have a ongoing issue with All the kiosks ( in Ralps) for a long time because I suspected they keep thier sushi defiantly longer than one day..they have no date it's made on..so you don't know..and some of it is very old. They are supposed to remove the day old sushi..per Ralphs rules but they don't. They remove some but the more expensive things..they dont remove and pass it off as made that day. Ralph's kind of passes the buck because they are an independent contractor..its fraud and I'm sick of it. Formerly managed by Lauren, Ralph's Grocery on Irvine Road in Newport Beach was the epitome of a top - rate grocery store for its comparatively small size and location. Lauren was a sensitive and kind manager , who had a marvelous way with both employees and customers. Fast forward a few years with the continuation of Covid and the addition of a number of self-check-out registers, and the complexion of Ralph's Grocery has changed. Katie is Manager now and she is professional and adheres conscientiously to high standards at every level. She is not unlike Lauren, but her style is a little different, she is serious and caring in a different way. The staff is friendly and wonderful to the customers. There are many new faces now; a few terrific people have retired. One relatively new person has joined the staff as a couple of years ago and she wears many different hats ! Her name is Abigail , and she is very accommodating to customers and the staff. This food store is a wonderful place to shop - both for its selection and for the wonderful people working there. I always send money here using Western Union . All the time they said the person is in break !!! Wait 10 to 15 minutes !!! Really ? Today Karen who I think is the manager or who knows told me that there is another western union in the 19 st . I asked her don't you want me to come to this location ? . I placed an order for pick up using the Ralph's app Monday evening around 645. Was told my order would be ready between 8 and 8:30. Got two emails confirming the same so I went over there at 8:15, tapped on the "I'm here" in the app and said what parking space. I opened my trunk and waited. And waited. For 20 minutes. Finally went to "customer service" in the app, talked to a robot then finally got a human who called the store and told me the pickup department was closed due to not having enough staff to keep it open! I'm just out of the hospital, no food in the house, can't carry these groceries myself, shouldn't be walking all the way in there... anyway, there was a REASON I chose pickup. I thought maybe I could ask some nice person from the parking lot to go in there and get it for me. Then the customer service lady says they didn't even pull my order. I said "now what" and she tells me I'm Required To Come Back tomorrow. Required??? When I got home I thought this is crazy, why aren't they delivering my order to me tomorrow? So I tried every way possible to reach out to them, got sent in circles, and bottom line, every option for speaking to someone was closed. The Ralph's person I spoke to the next morning says "Delivery? We don't do delivery." And wanted to know if they should start packing my order for me to come pick up. Nope. I've been a life long Ralph's shopper but I'm done. The problem should not have happened in the first place and their reaction to their mistake was abysmal. read more

Living across the street from this location, I come here frequently. The store is always neat and clean. And has what I need. It's not as big as the ralphs down the street on 17th, however they're selection is good. Their meet is fresh, as well as all of their fruits & vegetables. I always try to go for Jorge or Miguels isle, as they are the fastest, and very friendly. There was a Lil mishap I believe On my end tonight, but they went ahead and took care of it. I love this Ralphs location! I stop here 3-4 times a week after work even though it's not the closest one to my house. It's very clean and feels upscale. The workers are also always pleasant (cashiers, deli, and cheese). They also have very fresh produce. The best in OC. Apples are always crisp. Employees were extremely helpful but especially the manger Karen and Niles. I was shopping for an Instacart customer who requested a bottle of wine I was not familiar with and unable to fine but Karen ran over to the aisle got it for me. Then when my app glitched she kept me calm and helped me move all the groceries out of the way so I could call customer support. Unfortunately Instacart was not able to solve the issue and I had to have them take every thing back. I was super embarrassed and wanted to help but Niles assured me it was no problem. I was very appreciative to receive such great customer service in what would have been a frustrating situation. read more

I actually like grocery shopping now. Not the greatest selection but it's a small store. There is nothing I'd buy at a commerical chain that I can't find there. "Specialty" stores are for everything else anyway. It's soooo nice to pick up a few things after a long day at work and not have to wait in a line more than 3 deep. Ever. They are so on top of that it's amazing. The checkers are always so friendly and the "greeters" actually seem to give a crap. They even have a person posted at the front "just to help". I actually had one of the gals help me unload my cart while I got my cards out (I am very able-bodied so it wasn't a charity thing). She was just being awesome! Once, I dropped a bottle of vodka while loading my car. (naturally, it couldn't have been the bread or TP.). I had three people run over and help without a peep from me. One to clean, one to get me another and one to patch my cut from when I tried to help clean. No attitude. Exactly the opposite. We were laughing about pigeons trying to get drunk. I actually felt really good after that experience. Weird. I once had to wait for two whole people ahead of me at the deli. They apologized for the wait and offered "appetizers" to keep me happy until my turn. WHAT? That is freaking cool! Granted, I come from Chicago, the land of "shopping cart lock down", demerits for eye contact and smiles and lines that extend to the motor oil section, but this Ralph's is still far-and-away the best grocery I've ever frequented. read more
