Lowest price on propane tank exchange that I know of, easy to park at, and friendly staff. Their inventory system was not to date but the staff member who helped me out spent a while helping me find the right sprinkler part and instructed me on how to drive to the back of the store to exchange the tanks. Prices for everything in the store are a little bit higher than online and other hardware stores but not bad for the area since its right on the Irvine/Newport border. read more

Super nice --- one I go to closes at 7 an I didn't look at map carefully so, went here! This store is a bigger with more fasteners/screws which is usually why I go because I'm trying to fix something. Its very brightly lit and super clean! Tony helped me and was able to help me find exactly what I needed so quickly I was low key stunned. I'd hand cut some screws or bolts or whatever myself to fit and with some changes to my setup they wouldn't hold. I suppose I could buy a bunch of whatever it was I bought online as I'd looked but, I don't really need a bunch of extra fasteners an such stuff about since I usually don't handle those things so, glad I found exactly what I needed - I'm not sure its a screw since its flat but, was able to put my monitors up! :) I gotta read so much stuff so it helps to have more screen space! :) read more

We visited this Ace Hardware store because my wife really likes the smaller hardware stores rather than the big box ones. First thing when you come in is that they greet you. We were helped by a gentleman named Matt. He was very helpful in trying to find the item we were looking for. We ended up having a great conversation about different topics of interest. He couldn't have been nicer. The cashier was also nice and very patient with the customers. The store may be smaller than the big stores, but the selection is more than adequate for most people's needs. It's very clean and well organized. I was helping a friend who recently moved to the area. She was having a problem with her kitchen sink so I went to the nearest hardware store and that was the Crown Ace Hardware on Irvine Avenue. As I walked in the manager happen to be near the door, he immediately asked if he could help me. I told him I was looking for a kitchen faucet he said, unfortunately they don't carry faucets, but he was willing to help me try and find one nearby. I couldn't believe it. He actually got on the phone called around to different stores and found one that carried faucets. I would've expected him to say we don't carry them sorry and I would just be on my way, but he took the time to make several calls and found what I needed not far away. I thanked him. He was incredibly polite and I told my friend to make this her local hardware store. But they also had things you wouldn't expect like a huge selection of spices. Very impressed! Came here for some moving boxes to help my grandma move. They had a very minimal supply, I mean very minimal, and what they did have was ridiculously expensive. Like $6 was a medium sized box and more for a large box. You are better off going to Home Depot for more affordable boxes. We ended up right down the street at Staples tho, and those were even more affordable than Ace was. read more

This is the best hardware store! I'm new to CA so I'm here a lot to set up the new house. Staff is friendly, helpful and never need to wait for help. Best part is the knowledge base every employee has. Need light bulbs and just grab the first ones you see and hope for the best - nope just ask them. They will quickly and efficiently (my adhd mind will not hang on for a scientific explanation) explain which ones to get for which rooms. Want information on any Yeti product they know it! Grills yup they have the guru's here for that. Wait at the checkout can be a little long (no more 5-7 minutes) but it's because they are so good which makes it a hot spot for the community. I typically like going to Ace Hardware, as people are friendly, they have staff to help find items, and I like to support the smaller businesses. I was incredibly disappointed when I went to Ace in the Westcliff Center to return an item for the 2nd time, as it broke within a few weeks. The item costs just under $50. When a I tried to exchange the 2nd time, with my receipt showing date purchased, the gal at the register called management for assistance. The man who responded (silver hair and beard) said "No. You can't return this item, when you already returned it one time. You can't just buy things and keep exchanging them when they break. You need to contact the manufacturer directly". (?) And he didn't come to the register to speak with me about it. He was saying this loudly from about 25' away, in a really rude voice. So I left the store with the damaged item, after telling the manager I didn't think their "policy" was particularly great customer service. And I've never had any issues with Ace, as I've been shopping there for years as a loyal customer. And I have also worked in retail, and stores typically return damaged items to the supplier, and don't ask the customer to do so. I went to another Ace location, and they were happy to exchange the item for me. Even though it was a 2nd return. No issue. They apologized for the experience at the Westcliff location. I guess I'll just shop at this other Ace location going forward, or go to Home Depot or Lowe's, as they would have surely let me exchange the item for a new one. read more

Wow I have been and Ace fan for nearly 40 years. And even worked at Ace for awhile (not a crown location). Anyway I have visited this location several times and 90% of the time I am ignored. Never greeted and have to generally go find someone for help. Fortunately they are usually hanging out near the key area talking and carrying on. So at least I now know where to find them. And they are usually happy to say oh thats on isle.... but never help me look, and often they give me the wrong isle number. But today topped the cake of my frustrations. Since I moved to Newport Beach I have visited both the CDM, and Irvine Blvd locations. CDM is great and super helpful I will say. But today I was in the Irvine Blvd location and I needed to return a small dog harness that I bought at the CDM location.Knowing that they are all owned by Crown no problem right. NOT the cashier informed me that did not sell that item and I needed to take it where I got it. When I shared where I got it she informed me they did no have the sku in the register so she would not take it back. I started to leave very frustrated and then asked to see the manager where the cashier repeated to him what she said to me and he just kinda shrugged his shoulders and agreed. What the heck they are owned by the same family. I know that they certiantly had the ability to do the return. Each store does not run on different systems or are not connected system. They just could not be bothered. Well know what, thats it I will not be back to a location that can't bother to care one iota about the customer. As they keep proving over and over to me. The owner needs to take a closer look at the way this store is operating. read more

What amazing customer service they provide! From when you enter the store til checkout, they surely are great at customer service. I came here for the first time after searching the larger home stores, where they were all sold out of Christmas lights and their websites are not accurate. Eventually, I saw Ace Hardware and decided to give them a call to see if they had green Christmas lights, and to my belief they had plenty. I asked the store employee to hold 10 boxes until I arrived. When I entered the store, I was warmly greeted. What a great way to start the experience. I was directed to the Christmas area, grabbed 5 more boxes of green lights along with other post Christmas items. Went to the register where the employee grabbed the on-hold lights for me and paid for it. I asked the front rep to hold all of my items as I explored the store since it was my first time here. Every time heard a new customer entered the store, they were greeted, and directed to the right aisle. And if someone needed help, the greeter will send an employee to assist the customer with their needs. The customer service alone is why I would come back to this establishment. I was in-line taking this photo in preparation for yet another 5-star review for Joel until his associates Josh and another red-vest teammate blew it. I admitted I forgot my $5 loyalty card at home, yet never had a previous challenge with Gina, Roberto or the many associates who have worked on this team through the years. Maybe today was a bad day or you're still on holiday mode. Actually neither of you looked or acted like you wanted to be there or even offered to help pull up my rewards account to verify as suggested. I found what I wanted online, called them to verify it was in stock (not even carried by Home Depot or Lowes), and was treated professionally as Katherine put me on hold. That is exactly what they should do- the people that drove to the store and waited for help deserve priority. As soon as possible, she came back to my call, verified it was in stock and was pleasant and friendly as she asked my name, labeled my future purchase and put it by the register. I'm a girl from Las Vegas walking in to this store in Newport Beach needing the thingy that holds my license plate on not just any thingy, but a Jeep thingy because the bumper isn't hollow so I can't just put a regular normal screw in and not the "hold the entire license plate on" thingy, only the "one side fell off" thingy small busy place, always a good sign I'm not in a hurry, there are lots of other people looking for more important thingys. mine is not urgent eventually each of us patient people looking for thingys gets our own personal someone to help us! the guy who came to help me made me feel like whether I wanted to buy either a $2,000 barbecue or a 47 cent license plate thingy, his mission was to make sure I was matched up with exactly the correct thingy to suit my purpose. and he said honestly that all I needed was the 47 cent thingy and now the worst part: at the checkout counter they have LifeSavers Butter Rum, omg I haven't seen them for decades and that's how they have now lured me in to drive from Vegas every other week to go to this Crown Ace Hardware for Butter Rum LifeSavers and now I will buy more and more thingys from them forever and ever read more

The gentleman that answered the phone (Guy) couldn't have been more accommodating....just like the old days when people that worked in retail were professional. When I got there, they had the item saved for me behind the counter and it was an easy transaction.
