Okay so my first time here was last Friday night for my best friends birthday dinner...Aarize D. Yup yup, it was her birthday a couple days before our dinner, but party time was on the weekend lol. She made reservations for 7:30pm for 12 of us. We got there, she went to let them know we have arrived and they said it will be a "few minutes" since they were still getting tables ready. Okay that's fine, not everyone in our group was there yet anyway. So waiting an extra 5 minutes is no big deal. Well........we didn't wait just FIVE minutes, we waited close to half an hour I believe? Yeahhhhh...I understand it was a Friday night and the place was packed, but we had reservations! We ended up sitting right in front of the DJ next to the open doors which wasn't a bad spot. Nice cool breeze came in. The music I thought was too loud, yeah okay we sat in front of the DJ, but we couldn't hear our server, plus ourselves. I like my music loud, but it didn't work for me that night.
Food:
Getting to the food. I ordered the WH Sticky Chicken, my boyfriend ordered the WH Risotto with Scallops, and for our appetizer we ordered the Spicy Chicken Tinga Tostadas. Man I wanted more of those tostadas! It was three little things, but it wasn't spicy @ all. It was just good! My food was alright. I didn't car too much for the costing on the chicken like I thought I was going to since I love tempura, but tasted like if it just had some bread on it. Nothing special. Also I needed more sauce, the whole plate was dry. The chicken was cooked nicely though. I rice it was in top of was done well too. Not soggy, but no hard pieces. Actually I liked the Risotto a lot more than my own meal lol. I LOVED those scallops!! They were cooked perfect! Not chewy, just right!! I could have just had those for my dinner and it would have been a much better experience lol.
Service:
Okay, now please don't get mad @ me here, this is just MY opinion! When my friends asked for a recommendation of foods, I thought our server was honestly just trying to sell us on the highest price dishes on the menu, no seriously. I'm not one to complain about money, and I will spend money on food, but I REALLY don't think Her top favorite dishes are the Ginger Ponzu Bone-In Ribeye ($44) and the Blackberry Glazed Filet Mignon ($40). On top of that when my friend had a question about one of the lower price items, our server said it was okay, but I would recommend what I just told you. I really think our server is better in sales than a serving job. That's just how it came across to me as. Yeah sure she's probably tried like everything on the menu, and maybe those are her favorites, but it just didn't sound like she was taking from inside her, like her true feelings. But more of the lines of "I'll try to make it sound like it's my favorites, but really getting business for the restaurant" On top of that, she was trying to sell the birthday girl a bottle of wine instead of a glass. I drink wine, but didn't want any that night, most of the people we were with doesn't drink wine. Why couldn't she just take the no the first two times! Ugh, I feel my blood boil now just thinking of how it all went.
Oh, and then my other best friend asked for a straw and when it came out, I asked if I could get one too. Well it wasn't our server that we asked, it was one of the guys who cleans off the tables to get them ready. I totally forget what they are called lol. But I asked him "oh could I pleased get one too?" As he was handing off the straw. His response: "She only asked for one straw, not two! And now you want one too!?" As he walks away, I'm watching him cause that was just WRONG! I see him shaking his head. So when he came back he had I think five straws. He tries to hand them to me, but I'm not taking them, since I did not deserve that, so my boyfriend had to grab them. And before he left he comes out and says, "you want ANYTHING else before I go!?" I was so done with him, I didn't respond, he lost my respect. I was actually going to say to him, "actually yeah there is, go get your manager" but I didn't want to cause a scene or embarrass my table. So I kept shut.
Overall, this place is good. I really wanted to give 2 1/2 stars, and that's just for the food. But three stars since the DJ was playing good music, hahaha. read more
