I meant to book 4 months before our visit on the dot, but was late by a few days, but I was still able to make a reservation for 8 people on Thursday, 7/4, at 5pm (the other option was 8pm). COCKTAILS * Pressed for Thai'm ($12) - 4 stars. Good, a nice mix of tart and sweet, refreshing. * Thai Gimlet ($12) - 4 stars. Spicy, refreshing, well balanced. THE FOOD * Grandfather's Tom Kha ($16, with chicken, mild spice) - 4 stars. Nice sour flavor. My friends liked this dish the best. We got a 2 out of 5 spice, but it might as well have been a 1. Chicken was very dry and tasted out of place. * See Klong Moo Tod ($16, deep fried crispy pork spareribs) - 3.5 stars. Tasty, crispy, on the dry side. * Street Noodles ($20, with pork) - 3.5 stars. Good, but not very diverse in flavors. * Khao Soi Curry ($22, with stewed beef brisket) - 4 stars. My favorite, we got 3 (medium) spice, but was a LOT more spicy than the Tom Kha which we got a 2 (mild) spice. Nice crunchy noodles on top. I liked the curry flavor. Went for lunch. Not crowded. Great service. The food was excellent. Loved the fried rice dishes the best. Had a nice feel inside the restaurant. It looked better than the online pictures. Simply put, Wild Rose is the best Thai eats in Bend. Highly recommend making a reservation. Delicious food, friendly staff, street parking. Spice levels go from 1-5. 1-2 is very mild and safe. Everything yes! There's very few Thai places here in the states that stand out. Most joints just repeat their Americanized version of what they think we'll eat...Wild Rose is not that. Every dish is loud, unique and absolutely delicious. The beef skewers, basil noodles, and a the new beef dish called "ling mui...or something like that" were are most favorites. Because we live in a very "hyped" society and we almost force ourselves to like something that lot of people like, you will see comments like "this is the best restaurant in Bend or this place is a MUST in Bend" I am not bargaining about this place because I also like Wild Rose Thai restaurant in Bend OR but considering how many other options are available, I would say this place is very good but not exceptional. Quantity has degraded significantly in this place over years and when we are paying 20+ dollars for a "so called" large plat, it is not really large by any means. We chose to get takeout here. Located in Downtown Bend, right next to Patagonia. We placed the order on their website and scheduled our pickup. It was efficient. The inside looks super cute and charming. The reason I give it 3 stars is because of the food. It was really salty. Like ... chugging water salty. Not sure if it is all the dishes or just the ones we ordered. We got 2 noodle dishes. Also, my husband thought the noodles were really mushy. Therefore, not the worst but not the best I've tried ... Swing in a miss. We were super excited to take our son and girlfriend out for a nice Thai dinner and this place came highly recommended. Was excited to try this spot after hearing great things from someone who spent time in Thailand -- but what a letdown. Tried to place a takeout order before close, but they don't take phone orders. Their website? Glitches out when scheduling pickup in advance. I explained this to staff and was met with sarcasm and deflection rather than any effort to help. If your tech stack doesn't work and you won't take phone orders, at least train your staff to listen instead of dismiss. read more

The food was phenomenal, we ordered the Tom Kha soup, sausage fried rice, and the butterflies (crab rangoons). The food came out in 5 minutes and was perfect. I was disappointed with Wild Rose Northern Thai Eats. The hotel concierge absolutely raved about how good their Thai dishes were, and, honestly, with the acceptable Yelp ratings (4.2-Stars) we were swayed to give it a try. We ordered online, their app worked well, and our order was ready about 15-minutes earlier than the time listed in the app. (Glad we checked in early, sitting for any length of time never helps the food.) The restaurant was busy busy busy, but the building was neat, and the Staff hurried but friendly. Our order was Thangwa ($14), Pad Woon Sen, with pork, medium spicy, ($20), and Curry Basil Noodles, with pork, medium spicy, ($22). I found all three dishes ... mediocre. There just wasn't anything to recommend them. So, Wild Rose Northern Thai Eats, 2.5-stars, and I can't see myself returning, or trusting that hotel concierge again. read more

A friend and I came in on a rainy afternoon and was greeted and taken to our table with the friendly host. Our female server took our orders promptly and our food came out hot and fast. My friend got the Pad Woon Sen and I got the Curry Basil Noodles. Both were good but my noodles on the curry basil were very undercooked and hard.. but we just picked them out. For dessert, I asked for a coconut milk thai tea and when it came out, I noticed it was chunky. It looked curdled. When I asked the lady server about the chunky milk substitute she started informing me on how coconut milk works... I told her I understood what milk does and asked her to have the bartender shake it or remake it and shake the box of milk before adding it to the drink or to check if the milk had expired.. She straight up told me if she remade it, that it would be "exactly the same way it is now" Now the server is younger so I just said okay. I continued to stir my beverage to incorporate the coconut milk solids into my bev for a good 10 mins so I wasn't drinking chunks.. The other male server on the floor seemed so much nicer. When it came time for the check, our female server with the long blonde braid straight up tossed the check on our table and said here's your check! The food is pretty good here when they prepare it well, but the customer service from our server yesterday was not good at all. read more

Wild rose... I just want to start by saying we have LOVED this restaurant for over 10 years . We make a reservation once a month, sometimes more often . The food is just wonderful . Its such a nice alternative to your average Thai places with identical menus . So why would I give a place I love only 3 stars ? The service The service is so bad . Recently there have been a few signs that the service has gone downhill . Being seated for close to 20 mins before anyone comes to your table, wrong orders, no water or drinks ,etc But our recent experience was SO BAD , that I do not think we will be returning. It was just one screw up after another . The staff is SO unfriendly, and I do not think they care one bit if you have a good dining experience. It has gone from bad to worse If you really want to eat their food ,I highly suggest take out , so you dont have to deal with the staff. Such a disappointment. read more

For example the sweet sausage and rice is made with shrimp, they really need to denote that. We were told level 4 is "Thai spicy" and the spice level is out of 5. It was barely spicy ( all 3 of us concurred).It makes me wonder how spicy is level 3. And the beef was so dry and hard. -beef satay with sticky rice: it came with a fish sauce sour dipping sauce with cabbage and 3 beef skewers. The beef was very chewy... -pork basil rice: I'm used to it being a little sweet ( hoisin/oyster sauce). It just tasted very salty and barely any basil aroma. It might be that the basil leaves were still kind of fresh looking and the fragrance wasn't sautéed out. Left feeling a little disappointed. Looking at Yelp, I had no idea... but this is a fancy, more family style Thai restaurant. I was in the area for work with an employee and we found this place doing a quick Yelp search. It's also located in an area that is heavily trafficked, so parking is slim to none. Took me about 4 loops before finding somewhere to park. Another thing to note, they require reservations. Not made for walk-in. Luckily there was seating at the bar, so we found the last 2 seats and sat. The restaurant is nice, but the menu caters to larger groups. Doesn't have typical Thai food, like drunken noodles, but a quick chat with the bartender/waiter pointed us in the right direction for something similar. I got a curry style noodle dish, my employee got a pad Thai style noodle dish. I also got the Thai Sunset to drink. Drink was delicious. Food came rather quick for the type of restaurant and it was good. Everything cooked perfectly. My only complaint was that it wasn't spicy enough. A 3 is usually good spice level, but this one tasted extremely mild. Overall good place and would recommend if in the area, just be prepared to battle for parking and make sure to make a reservation. read more

we have enjoyed eating here for several years, and often bring our friends and family to dinner at the Wild Rose. we ate there tonight to celebrate a birthday dinner. i was sorely disappointed with our dinner. nothing was served hot. each dish, including the tom kaw soup, was barely warm, and certainly not served as hot as it should have been. the portions were smaller than previously. we ordered several dishes including two large dishes that each contained prawns. we received a grand total of seven prawns in total, with three of us sharing the dishes family style. we will not be returning to the Wild Rose. Ka Nar Moo Krob is consistently excellent. I vary the spice level from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2. I have never been disappointed. The amount of pork included is always sufficient and sometimes it exceeds what could reasonably be expected. Service in the house is always very good.
