A bunch of high school girls came in right after me and my tech rushed so quickly and did such a hap hazard job so that he could help out with the girls piling in. I have been going to Whimsical Nails and seeing Anna for almost a year. Mind you, this location is NOT convenient to my home (I live in N Scottsdale). But it is well worth the drive! It's one of the cleanest nail salons I've ever been to, and I've been to many. The staff is always friendly and accommmodating. Anna is always thorough and personable and the prices are very affordable for the services offered. I've always gotten just pedicures, but recently started getting the gel manicures and love them! I've NEVER questioned the cleanliness or sanitation practices of Whimsical Nails because I've never had any issues. They always use sanitized implements and tools with each service. She (Anna) just started adding these disposable plastic liners for the pedicure baths and that just goes to show you how important cleanliness is to her/their salon. The ladies really took their time in making sure you were welcomed and you definitely get pampered. I purchased the 'works' pedicure for $32 and got a sugar scrub massage, hot stone massage, and 10 minute normal massage with lotion. I thought everyone was very friendly, there was a nice neighborhood appeal... my only issue is I got a full set of nails and they lifted and fell off after a week. I've never had that happen before... so unfortunately I will not be going back for acrylic nails. I felt like they were a little pricier than some of the other salons nearby as well.... My friend and I found this place because it had good reviews-- we've been looking for a new place so we decided to check it out. We both had gel polish on our toes and wanted the same. Instead of wrapping our toes, they used the drill to get it off. My friend's was much harder to get off and the lady kept getting her skin with it. The lady who did the scrubbing and clipping for me did a good job but then she passed me off to the guy (owner?) to do the gel. He apparently didn't like how she cut my cuticles so he went back over and ended up cutting my big toe. Doesn't apologize, just squirts some stuff over the cut. Then I notice that the polish on my toe is pretty messed up and instead of just removing it and starting over, he tries to file it down and file it down and paint over it with 10 coats. Then he gets an air can to I guess remove some of the filing debris and turns it upside down! Newsflash: freezing your customer's skin is not good for business. When all is said and done, the polish looks terrible and I tell him I am not paying for the gel polish. He offered to redo it it but at this point, we had been there well over an hour and my toe hurt! Anyway, he agreed to not having to pay for the gel, which was nice but overall the experience was so bad. I noticed that three of my toes have bubbles in them, as well. Big time bummer-- I would go to one of the many other salons in this area instead. read more

Don't know how this place has such great reviews. My husband and I went in yesterday for pedicures and had a bad experience. First, we were set up together and the lady started with my husband and I assumed that the other attendant who was available would be doing me...didn't happen. My husband was about half done with his when another patron came in. The person I thought was going to do me approached that customer, asked what she wanted then says her and started her pedicure. WTF!?! By this time the water I had my feet in was cold and I was sitting there annoyed. The lady finished with my husband and then started on mine. She saw my color and asked if I wanted a "spiderweb" I declined and said "no just the orange". Like I said I was annoyed so I closed my eyes and mouth. The pedicure itself was one of the worst I have ever had. She did only a cursory brush of the pumice stone and one of the weakest and shortest leg/foot massage I have ever had. I nodded off (because I had been there for over an hour...40 minutes of waiting) when I felt her tap my foot. I woke up to her asking what I thought of the spiderweb...THAT I HAD SAID "NO" to. I looked over at my husband and he gave me the "let it go" look. Not only were we charged for the spiderwebs my husband's pedicure had included a sugar scrub that he initially declined and a callous remover charge and they didn't get the callouses down. We left her $10 tip but only because I am also a tipped employee and I know how crucial they are. If you expect to get what you want and not be ignored and given good service DO NOT go here. *And yes the spider web is cute but that is not the point! read more

What a great find on my vacation! This is your standard strip mall nail salon with amazing service. I only had time for a mani but I wish I could have stayed for a pedi because the chairs looked amazing. They have 200+ gel colors and the attention to detail and getting it perfect was incredible. I always hate when consistently good places disappoint. If you come on a weekday or off time, this place is wonderful. However, this is now twice I've come on the weekend, and you should expect to be rushed terribly. I called beforehand to make sure they had time for a pedicure, and they told me no problem. However, two regulars showed up about halfway through and that was pretty much the end of my pedicure. The stone/leg massage that is normally about 2 mins a leg was less than 15 seconds...I counted. And the French pedicure was sloppily done to the point that she just moved over to the regular client and had another technician clean it up. Really disappointed that they can't manage time better when there's more than two people on the salon. Looks like I will need to find a new place if I need a pedicure during the weekend. read more

The owners are very nice. They've been here for over 10 years. The shop is clean and they can always get me in without an appointment. They do good work and they always remember me even after years. When we asked about the appointment time they set and why we weren't getting in as we were told, the owner proceeded to take others before us and made us wait longer. I have been coming to this salon off and on for the past 8 years or so, great little family run place. My sister even had her and her entire wedding parties nails done here as well as several family members. This is a great place always welcome to walk ins, they take their time on everything, not a rushed process here. I went in for a pedicure recently and after sitting in the chair having my nails dry, I paid and was on my way home. Getting out of the car I somehow managed to scrape off my new nail polish. Not able to fix it at home I went back to the salon told them what I had done and they very nicely fixed it for me, for free. This was totally my fault, not theirs.
