everything at Wheatfield is amazing. However, the strawberry wedding cake is by far the best thing they have! It's always good. Service was great and my husband and I love this cake so much that we actually had it for our wedding cake. The catering team did a fantastic job.

Wheatfields is a reliable, easygoing spot for breakfast or lunch with attentive service and plenty of space for groups. The latte I ordered was just okay and came in a to-go cup despite dining in, which felt a bit odd. I had the quiche and French onion soup. I would say the quiche was nothing crazy, but I really enjoyed the soup. Good flavor and healthy portions! Service was good, she was very attentive and understood the menu well. The menu itself is a little confusing to read and had so many different types of entrees that I found it confusing to know what were the different categories of options available. Overall, it's a simple breakfast place, and an easy stop if you're coming through town. The real stars are the pastries and baked goods, don't leave without trying the strawberry wedding cake!

Food stuck to the table. Gross.

Dirty. I was served an orange slice for my tropical tea in a dirty bowl. (See photo) The orange slices were soggy, wet and appeared used. (Photo) Our table had dried food stuck to the table. Gross. The chili and chicken soup were served right out of the can. (Or at best tasted from a can) I used to like the bakery. None of our cake or brownies tasted good. They were 'ok' and 'looked' GREAT. The taste was blah. The ambiance is ok, busy and loud. The service is like that of a fast food breakfast diner. Not what I was looking for to have lunch with my mom. $35 for 2 cups of soup and 2 iced tea.

Butcher Shoppe Quiche, baked apples, and hollandaise sauce. (The Blueberry Struedel in the background was too good to wait for a photo.)

Wheatfields was recommended to us by friends -- that was a great suggestion! Service was good and the food was delicious. I ordered the Butcher Shoppe Quiche which comes with a Struedel and a side of baked apples. For my Struedel, I choose Blueberry. It was served with fresh, housemade whipped cream -- totally delectable! The quiche was great too, with plenty of chunked ham and a good-sized sausage. The accompanying hollandaise sauce was terrific to boot! My wife had the Omaha's French Dip. Healthy amounts of thin-sliced tender beef topped with Swiss cheese filled a long baguette and she liked the au jus flavor too. We plan to return in the future.

Yes, this is coffee and it's very weak

We used to come in here in December to see Santa and have an amazing breakfast. No Santa on this December day. Kids were disappointed. They weren't really busy, but it took quite a while for us to get our drinks. Daughter's coffee was very weak as was my iced tea- - when I got a refill I asked for no ice and it was still very weak. Her 2nd cup of coffee was better. Kids meals are eight dollars and do not include a drink. That seems to be pretty standard and they were good. One had the waffle, one had the French toast and one had the eggs, bacon and muffin. My daughter ordered the breakfast wrap and had a cinnamon roll on the side. She said it was good - - just a bit dry on the corner. My scrambled eggs with bacon and cheese was really good. It came with a big slice of Christmas roll, which I knew the children would enjoy. As for the Christmas roll - - the cake part was kind of dry and it has lots of frosting. It's an expensive place for breakfast for a family. The waitress was very attentive. They had a few Christmas decorations to add to a festive atmosphere

I recently went to Wheatfields to purchase desserts, so I cannot speak to the food served in the restaurant. I purchased the strawberry wedding cake and chocolate chip cookie for myself, my mom had the German Chocolate cake, my grandma had the chocolate cake, and my brother had the coconut cream pie. Everyone loved all of their desserts and they were all moist. I would definitely return. There were so many choices so everyone will find something they like.

I've been here plenty of times before and try to give this place a chance, so this review is indeed justified. In my opinion, they just keep falling short on hot menu items, the bakery items are actually really good. This last time, I got what was a poor attempt at apple crepes and it was simply horrible, the crepes were thick and it was like they took a can of apples and poured them on the crepes.. just not a good experience overall... Wheatfields has the potential to be great, but needs a complete menu overhaul!

This was a pretty meh experience, the special crepes I was really excited about and I'm not sure what they were but they were absolutely not French crepes. Thin pancakes at best. Service was slow but they did split our check for us. Price was high but you did get a lot of food. Probably won't return as this isn't my type of food I prefer, I was hoping for a more authentic French crepe but was disappointed.

Wheatfields is the best bakery is Omaha! Their strawberry wedding cake is unmatched! Everything I have ever tried from there is amazing. The shop is set up nicely so you can see all the different baked goods they have to offer and can browse easily. The people there are so nice and were able to answer all of our questions. This place is great!

Adding to my review as this was my first time, trying their famous strawberry wedding cake! It was beautiful, and tasted delicious. The cake itself was very light, fluffy, and moist. The frosting was plentiful, but not too thick or overbearing. It was light and fluffy itself as well. The middle layer of frosting with strawberries was my favorite part! Absolutely a delicious flavor combination with all of this together. Would definitely get this again!

This looked and tasted like chicken noodle soup over mashed potatoes

Great pastry selection, but their entree selection and customer service is something to be desired and a little awful because it was completly non-existent. Even after the manager was informed of the extremely long wait for orders to be taken, mean while there were very few customers, but the folks that arrived afterwards were able to be serviced before me which I was a party of one.

I ordered breakfast catering the day before and wanted it picked up at 9 o'clock. The food wasn't ready until 930 and nobody was moving very fast so the service was very poor To add, they had a picture of Donald Trump's mug shot to be seen for everybody like it was some sort of trophy. I ordered a pan of scrambled eggs sausage for five people, eat cinnamon rolls, coffee and some orange juice and it was over $200. Giant rip off. Will never cater here again.

Food was poor. The service was lacking. The facilities were dirty. I'm writing more because there is a minimum character count.

The food was really disappointing, especially at $30 for 2 fries and burgers and 1 drink. The patties were impossibly tiny. I got the "Big Bronco" and it was the equivalent of a single cheeseburger at McDonalds with some sauce. The burger was also very bland and tasteless, but it was tender at least. The fries were pretty good, but cut into tiny bits that were so annoying to pick up and eat, we eventually gave up. They were also served directly on the tray instead of in packaging and we wondered more than once how often and well the trays are cleaned before you're eating directly off of them. While we did finish our food, we both left still hungry due to the small burger size and ended up having to make some more food at home. All in all, I'm glad we tried it since it's considered an Omaha staple, but I certainly wouldn't try it again.

What is pictured on the website and what I received were two different things. Instead of coleslaw, I received a side dish of some kind of green herb, in a condiment-sized container. I don't know what it was. The chicken tenders were way over-seasoned, and I ordered the original, not the Nashville Hot - My order was piping hot, but almost appeared burnt. (see photo) My ice tea was served in an adorable Ollie & Hobbes logo mason jar, adding to the happy vibe Melanie exuded. She was quick to refill beverages for all at the table. I was dining alone and sat for more than 30 minutes without receiving my food while customers who were seated after me received theirs. The table next to me ordered steak, as I did, and their food was brought out from the kitchen with a grand presentation. Another table that was seated later also received their food while I continued to sit without mine. What concerned me most was what I observed while waiting. I saw a female employee holding my ticket while the other tickets were up on the line. I brought this to my server's attention, and after my server went to inquire about my order, I observed three employees laughing among themselves. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable waiting for or eating the food. I did not make a scene, raise my voice, or argue with anyone. I simply asked the host for my check so that I could pay for my drink--which I left nearly full on the table--and leave. When a customer watches other guests who arrived after them receive their meals while their own order appears to be deliberately delayed, and then sees employees laughing after the issue is questioned, it creates a serious loss of trust. By that point, I was no longer comfortable accepting food from the kitchen because I could not feel confident about how my order would be handled. I am very disappointed that my experience reached that point. I came in simply wanting to have a meal after working an event. Instead, I left without eating and feeling as though I had been treated differently from the other customers around me. I hope management takes the time to review what happened, speak with the employees who were working, and determine why my order was handled this way. No customer should have to sit quietly watching everyone around them being served and wonder why they are being treated differently.
