If you're looking for a hearty breakfast with quick service, and good food, but less than #GreasySpoon appearances? You found it. Whether in a booth, at a table, or right at the counter, you'll enjoy your time as much as we did. Great place!

Benson Omelet, hash browns extra crispy and French toast
Stephanie A.

Delightful diner with delicious food, fast yet caring service and wait staff who anticipate your every need. We were there at lunch but could make it past the breakfast menu; we ordered by neighborhood - the Benson omelette and Blackstone breakfast. I chose the French toast as my omelet side because the waitress informed me it was and she was not wrong. Benson omelette was pretty much perfect with even distribution of finely diced ham, green pepper and 2 kinds of cheese YUM! One day I'll try the lunch items for my lunch but for now- I might not make it past the first page of the menu

Hangover Omelette

Good old fashioned diner. Booth and counter seating available. Hours have changed due to COVID. Hours on the door says 7 am to 2 pm Monday - Friday. I did not see weekend days or hours. Masks are required to enter. Staff are wearing masks as well. I sat at the counter. Staff is friendly. Menu is a good combination of breakfast, lunch plates and sandwiches. I went with the Hangover Omelette. Eggs, three types of cheese with sausage, bacon and ham along with veggies served with white gravy over top and a side of hash browns and toast. Extremely tasty. Price with a drink came in around $13.50. If I am in the area, will stop in again. Check it out.

Good food, not that expensive, sometimes it's a little crowded, but I guess is because of the good quality of the meals.

Nice little cafe. Very busy in weekend mornings for breakfast. Affordable home style cooking. Worth the wait. You can always order take out.

Fairly new and was average. Under staffed which could have an impact. Slow and just not very friendly.

Great service and excellent coffee and food!…read more I ordered the banana ball latte- it was delicious it didn't have an overall banana taste and it was too sweet. I also got the egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and it was fantastic. The cheese does get a little messy so grab a napkin. Good amount of seating area and not a loud environment even when many were in the building.

All the parking near the entrance is metered parking-- the kind that's hard to figure out if you don't use it regularly. There were three parallel parking spots directly in front of the door, but they were all filled and had 15 minute limits. The meters seem to be owned by the city, so maybe Big Grove doesn't have a choice, but it's very odd and wrong. The employees don't know anything about it. Next, the food. Bookguy wanted a muffin, but they were out. The pastries in the case were not like anything I had seen before, except for the cookies. The counter person described what they were, rather than naming them. Thus we ended up with a mushroom thingie and a pizza thingie. The mushrooms were minimal, black shreds with no flavor in a cornbread-like square. Bookguy rejected it after one bite: too dry and flavorless. I didn't think it was awful, but I wouldn't get it again. The pizza thingie was ok. The soft square of bread was fresh, with two pepperoni rounds, a teaspoon of mild pizza sauce and a teaspoon of white cheese. I especially liked the bread. Lastly, the coffee. It was excellent. I ordered a cappuccino with oat milk. I commented on the fancy machines they use and the "barista" pointed under the counter and said it was a robot. So maybe they don't have a trained barista, just a button pusher because they have a coffee-making robot. Nevertheless, it was great coffee. That being said, I can't imagine coming here again.

My son loved the biscuits and gravy saying they were some of the best he has had. I got my eggs over hard and wish I had gone with over medium. The hash browns were well flavored and the coffee smooth. Bacon cooked just right. Good prices for the amount of food you get. Early Bird specials until 8am. I would also like to try their lunch menu. Word of warning CASH ONLY!

Bookguy ordered full biscuits and gravy with hash browns and two eggs over easy. I ordered the veggie breakfast casserole. Bookguy thought the biscuits were a little weird, but the gravy and eggs were good. I snagged a bite of biscuit without the gravy and I enjoyed it. Maybe it has something to do with the soft texture. My casserole was delicious. I especially liked how brown the hash browns were-- that almost burnt flavor was just right. Mine also had an enormous, fluffy pancake. Of course because it was DoorDash, nothing was as hot or crispy as it would be in person so we don't hold that against them. AJ's still has a quality product, generous portions, and reasonable prices.

Thank you for vegetables in a bath of creamy flavorful grits. Everything is so well done. Service is kind and attentive. Ambiance is calm and cute. Perfect, really. Kudos to the chef! Good work, Omaha, I'm always impressed when I visit and Kitchen Table is another to add to my list of great places to eat while here.

I wrote this on my Facebook about my experience while traveling from California:…read more Today I was at a super cute café and ordered breakfast. After a couple of minutes, I went back up to the counter and asked if they had already started making it, because I wanted to change my order. The kitchen was open, so I said to the cook, "Don't worry about it if you've already started. I know my indecision can impact people, and I don't want to be a problem." He looked at me and said, "No, it's totally fine. Would you like some veggies on the side?" "Yes, that would be amazing," I said, and walked back to my table... and burst into tears. It wasn't just what he said. It was the kind energy in his eyes. I felt someone who took pride in what he was making, and who genuinely wanted people to be happy. I found myself asking, why am I crying? Because in a world where so many people in power feel disconnected, where corporations can make us feel like numbers, being genuinely cared for in a small café reminded me how much I love humans. Most people have love in their hearts and are trying to share it in their own small ways. As the world cracks, these simple things are more meaningful than ever.
