I really wanted to rate these guys higher since they are close by my house and I was looking for a local mechanic that I could rely on. We purchased a used SUV that ended up being a huge piece of crap so we took it to them to get an assessment of what needed to be fixed. They came back with a list that was about $4000 in total, which I couldn't do in one shot. I had them fix a fan blade and serpentine belt which they charged almost $700 for. I wanted to do one other smaller repair on the doors before the big repair but when I asked them what that would cost they told me "It's included in the main quote amount". He wouldn't break it out for me so I could do one or two things at a time. The main repair was going to cost about $2700. Before I did that my neighbor mentioned he has a friend that runs a shop down in Burien and to give him a try. I did, and was very glad for it. That $2700 job ended up really only costing about $1500. The main part that WSA was going to charge me $900 for only cost $300. It makes me wish I had not done the fan blade and belt because I think I got royally overcharged. On the plus side, they did diagnose just about everything that was wrong with the car and they did it correctly. Also, they were very nice. The negative, and it's a huge negative, is that their prices were so incredibly overinflated that I don't think I can ever go back there. I totally get that they will have a mark-up on parts, because they are a business and businesses need to make money, but 300%??? That's crazy. On top of that their labor charge is something like $110 an hour. I will still be on the lookout for a repair shop closer than Burien as I don't think I have found it just yet. read more

West Seattle Autoworks - Auto Repair Near Me - Seattle, Washington

I cannot tell you how pleasant it is to be able to have good quality service. I was first introduced to West Seattle Auto works one day when another shop was too busy. I was so pleased with the service that I received that day that I have been back ever since. Chris is amazing, he is friendly and very personable; he goes way above and beyond to make you smile...he surely smiles all the time. My most recent experience was yesterday when I dropped by to ask Chris for a good time within the next couple of days to bring my car in to fix a slow-leak in one of my tires. Now, Chris had just sat down in another car and started the engine; I do not know if he was about to leave or just beginning to work on the car but he said " Why don't I just look at it now?" I was shocked! Chris not only looked at the nail but repaired the leak all at no charge as he offered up a warm smile. Another experience that I had was a few weeks ago when I came in because I had a flat tire and several of the lug nuts were stripped when the kind strangers downtown assisted in putting on the spare. I had a time constraint and could not wait until later that afternoon for a new tire, so Chris shopped around for the best tire deal for me and gave me thorough directions on how to get there. After getting back in from the tire place, I called Chris back to thank him once again for seeing me on such a short notice and also for working on the car.I told him that I was told I needed new struts; Chris immediately said "Do not waste your money on struts, you don't need them but don't worry, I will look at it the next time you bring your car in" I was thrilled that I did not have to spend that $600 that the tire place quoted me. West Seattle Auto works will not take you to the bank, they will tell you exactly what the problem is and if they can find you a deal...Chris has always gone the extra mile for me and he actually took the time to know my name...not just the car that I drive. I am their faithful client ! Kenya read more

Have been driving around for a few months leaking oil. Knew the issue was not going to be kind to my wallet, but more scary was taking my car to someplace that might not do the job right and force me into something I'm trying to avoid right now...a car payment. Based on the universally positive reviews for WSAw, I made arrangements to bring my car in. Exchanged emails with Todd and got an idea of what to expect. They are busy, so took a bit of time to get on the calendar. I just got my car back and was really impressed by the whole crew in the shop. Nice guys who want to do good work and please the customer. Amazing the number of businesses that don't really grasp this concept. These guys are welcoming and it is a pleasure to do business with them. Greatly appreciated Jesse speaking to me on the phone while they had the car to explain what was going on and when he didn't know, he checked with the tech and called me back with answers. Have a small to do list of other things my car might need in the future, will keep these guys in mind for future work so I can keep going down the road worry free. read more

Wow what a find. Don't hesitate to bring your car into this shop. Ask for Chris Christensen, I can't bestow enough praise upon him and how much I appreciate how he helped me with my car. Nice Nice guy. I will be back and I will constantly refer him and this shop. Oh, and utilize their website, it's good. read more

Take your car here. Todd, Sam, Chris and the gang are honest, hardworking and charge a fair price. They'll tell you what's wrong, and give you their best and won't gouge you. I've been going here for 3 or 4 years now with both domestic and foreign vehicles and their work is top-notch. You will not regret having your auto serviced by West Seattle Auto Works. read more

Many signs of a great business to work with in my experience. Without a doubt, EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE. Sam took my call about a headlight replacement issue and told me to come by. Stopped by shortly after and was helped right away. He took care of it for me just in time for a big driving trip with my young family. Clutch. Just earned a loyal customer for sure. read more

Always a pleasure to deal with West Seattle autoworks. I always can trust their evaluation and trust their quality of work.

I had a very good first experience here. I dropped my VW Jetta off to have them replace a faulty power window switch. The team communicated very clearly with me via text through-out the day, including clear pricing and next steps. The repair was completed quickly by the next morning as they had to order a part. I will use West Seattle AutoWorks again and I recommend them to anyone looking to support a well-run small business. read more

They were very communicative with text messaging. This made if much easier for me to coordinate pick up, drop off and answering questions. Great customer service. read more

Chris is always so accomodating and quick! Anyone know if he's single? :) read more

Sucked. Quoted me one number for basic service but after dropping my car off, the estimate suddenly jumped by $700. The gal gave me some BS story about how the other gal who originally gave. Me the written estimate forgot to use synthetic oil. Bu the new estimate with synthetic oil actually showed less cost for the oil change. I called her out on this and she had no real answer. I told her not to touch my car and that I would be right there to pick it up. She cowardly put the key inn an outside lock box so she did not have to face me. I will no take my cars to this place. read more

I was doing a routine spark plug change when one of my plugs broke off in my cylinder head. I reached out to WS Autoworks. They recommended a towing service, got my vehicle checked in, managed my expectations and then over delivered! They fixed my car in under three hours. Erick got me setup and Louis was my mechanic. I can't say enough good things about my experience with these guys and West Seattle Autoworks. read more

Want to give these guys a quick 5 star review. Got my car in within a day for a sales inspection. Needed some work and got it done same day. In and out. read more

Went in today without an appointment and Nathan helped me with replacing a headlight while I waited. Much cheaper than having it done at the BMW dealership...better customer service too! I highly recommend them. read more

Normally this place is very helpful and responsive but when I needed them most the service was not good. Only go here if you need scheduled maintenance or other scheduled work. DO NOT bring your car here if you broke down and expect a quick diagnosis. read more

We needed the alternator replaced and called West Seattle Autoworks at 8:00 am. He must have sensed the desperation in my voice because he told me that he can squeeze the vehicle in during the afternoon hour. The staff was fantastic! Great customer service. They did everything that they said they were going to do. We got the car back by 5:00 pm. It is now running and it didn't cost an arm and a leg to get it fixed. This will be the only auto repair shop that we will be going to from here on out! read more

Fast and honest, can't get much better than that. Had them replace a control arm on my 987, solid work, nice people that obviously like what they do. read more

Came on a referral from a friend and had a great experience with Jessie & crew! I felt their prices are reasonable, especially for a 2007 BMW 550i. They seem pretty busy, therefore I'd suggest making an appointment. Thanks crew! read more

This was my second time coming to WSA to have general maintenance done on my vehicle. Like before they were very transparent about the process, followed up exactly when they said they would, ran through charges without any unexpected costs (Like you'll find with some places.) and they were honest about concerns, things to think about for the future and told me exactly what to expect if I chose to come back. Trustworthy, professional work and friendly staff, and my dog LOVED them. I'll be back! read more

I always get great service at West Seattle Autoworks! They are honest, transparent and great communicators. I trust them to tell me what work needs to be done, to explain my options and to stick to their word on price and quality. read more

I broke down and required the use of AAA towing, they recommended West Seattle Autoworks, as did the tow truck driver. I was told they would not be able to get to the vehicle until the end of the week or early next week, as they were very busy. I was fine with that, I told them the relevant information I had and left my vehicle with them. They are conveniently located on a bus line connecting to Westwood Village. They managed to do the diagnosis tests that day and called me to inform me the fuel pump had gone bad and needed to be replaced I agreed to have the work done. I was called again end of day but missed the call and returned their call the next morning, I was told the person familiar with my car was not in yet but would return my call shortly. Two hours latter I called them again and talked to the person in charge of my vehicle. They apologized for not returning my call but they were very busy. I was informed they had forgotten to tell me that I would need to replace my fuel filter. I was told the new total price, and I asked them to also include an oil change. While no one ever likes having to pay money to maintain a vehicle, it seemed like a reasonable price to me, so I agreed to have the work done. I ended up picking up my vehicle start of next week, while driving there seemed to be a loud rattling noise behind me that increased in volume over large bumps. After researching it online I crawled under the vehicle and found that there were 3 missing bolts that connect the bed of the truck to the frame, a needed removal to replace the fuel pump assembly. I called into the shop and informed them of the situation and arranged to come in the next morning. About 50 mins latter I had my key again, I was apologized to, and told they had probably been loose and just vibrated free. Latter on in the day when I was able to, I crawled under the truck again to inspect the bolts. 1 had not been tightened all the way so there is a noticeable gap between the bolt and the frame. The 3rd bolt is still missing and had not been replaced. The other bolts all appear to be there. The truck bed no longer rattles while driving. I called and informed them, they were very polite and apologetic. I was then told that one of the bolts had been stripped, so that is why one of them had not been replaced, and he had no clue how the other bolt could not have been tightened, he was sure it had been. He offered to have me come in to have them tighten the bolt down at my convenience and I declined. I offered to send pictures of the missing bolt and the bolt with a gap, and he accepted. I believe the vehicle is secure. They were at all times professional and courteous. Yelp review 2 stars ratings = Meh. I've experienced better. read more

If you are looking for an honest mechanic that is concerned about keeping customers coming back then go to these guys. They are friendly and they go above and beyond what I have dealt with at other shops. I called them after I had a terrible unsatisfying experience at Hi Line Auto Electric and I spoke to Todd and I told him what I needed done.(.He was very professional and didn't talk negatively about the other place, and I thought that was great and not desperate for customers.) He called me back after checking on prices and gave me a much lower quote on a power steering line and asked me to bring my car by just to make sure it was the right part to order. When I stopped by Todd came out and greeted me and checked and then scheduled an appointment once the part came in. This is an extremely busy place but he accommodated me as best as he could. I also told him that my cord was broken from my washer fluid and he ran inside and got some cord and fixed it for me free of charge. I dropped my car off today and Todd told me my car would be done at 2.00 PM . Sam called me at 1:30 PM and told me my car was ready and he mentioned that he noticed my car was in need of an oil change, which is true but the price was a bit high so I said no at first but changed my mind and I called him back around 2:10 and told him I had to be in Bellevue by 3:30 and he said no problem that it would be ready at 2:45, I was so impressed by this. When I picked up my car Chris told me that there was a nail in one of the tires and he fixed it for free, for free can you believe it ? Nothing is free these days. My steering issue is now fixed and doesn't make any noise, I will be coming back to West Seattle Autoworks in the future for any car repairs and will recommend them to my friends and family! read more

What a bunch of great people! I worked with Jesse and Sam on the repair of my Land Rover. Don't take your car to a Land Rover dealer to get it fix, take it to them. They know just as much as the dealer if not more and they will charge fair prices. WS Autoworks couldn't find the new or rebuilt replacement part in the whole USA so they had to find a used part. At that point, they were willing to work with me in getting the used part (which saved me $$) from Oregon which added extra days to repair. They didn't charge me for letting my car stay there. The only reason why I didn't give them 5 star is that they were very busy so it took a little bit longer between getting the part and getting the car in the garage. I'm guessing they are so busy because of their awesome yelp scores (which are deserving). If you can wait, it's worth it! read more

5 stars is not enough! Highly recommend this company. Chris (One of the owners) and Jesse offered fabulous customer service. I felt I was their highest priority the whole time. You have a loyal client! read more

Had our 2002 PT Cruiser in here for major work. I know enough about cars, but it's not my everyday profession, and I don't have time to goof round throwing parts at what might be. Todd was very professional and up front with my cars problems. This PT has 108k miles on her and has been our baby since driving out of the showroom Super Bowl Sunday back in 2002. I scheduled the work online, and was emailed a reminder of date and time to bring her in. My first question was: how long until our car dies? My second question was: why is the cooling system gurgling after shutdown? Todd and his team went through the car top to bottom as I requested. He found a blown head gasket, no fun. He found a laundry list of todo's. The price was very, and I mean very reasonable for all the work. Now we have our PT back in good working order with a 2 year or 24k mile warranty on the work including 1 year of roadside assistance, that's awesome - who does that? I'm happy to say I have a new auto mechanic, I'm willing to share, be nice to them! PS: Nathen Huie was our PT's doctor, nice work Sir! read more

I've known Chris for years and he has always been a chivalrous guy. He and the team at West Seattle Autoworks are the firefighters of the auto business. They are honest, hardworking, fast , reliable and won't inflate costs! What more can you ask for? You will not be disappointing if you stop in! They pump through a good 15+ cars a day! All of this with a smile too! Love these guys! :) read more

These guys are great. Very knowledgeable, customer service oriented and so nice! I've experimented with several other auto-shops and these guys are the best, they've done a great job with my Audi. They've been able to diagnose and fix my car when other shops could not then later, when a part was defective they replaced it at no cost even though it was labor intensive to do so. They are building a strong reputation making it a little more difficult to get an appointment, but they are worth the wait! read more

So I left a bad review on my last message for west Seattle auto works about my trunk issue. On 1/30 went to prep up the car, so I can take it back to the shop on 2/4. So I gave it another shot on fixing myself. Now it works properly. I disconnected the battery when I stored it since September. So by disconnecting the battery it reset the car electronics so it gave the electronic trunk to work. Sorry for the bad review auto works you guys did awesome work for diagnosing the problem.. read more

Found this place on Yelp the morning after I sideswiped a concrete pillar in a parking garage and broke my driver side mirror. I stopped by West Seattle Autoworks without an appointment just so they could assess the damage. Chris stopped what he was doing and came over to take a look, then spent 10-15 minutes putting the mirror back together enough for me to drive safely until my appointment to get it properly fixed. He was so kind and helpful and made me feel so much better on a crappy, rainy morning after Election Day. Thank you, Chris! read more

If I could give them 6 stars I would. Honest, wonderful guys that go out of their way to fit you in when you are having a car catastrophe, and make sure when you don't need a part they won't charge you. For any person worried about a mechanic that will scam you, these guys honestly won't! I've been going there over a year and could not be happier! I recommend them to anyone. read more

West Seattle Autoworks is Fantastic. Great Mechanics and Customer Service, Quality work. I Highly Recommend West Seattle Autoworks

I was so happy to find a shop that was patient enough to explain everything to me. I just recently had my Toyota Tacoma serviced (30,000 mile) by WS Autoworks. It was super easy to communicate with them via email and set up my appt once I had a quote. Once I made my appointment and dropped the truck off they did exactly what they said they would in the quote and it was ready when they said it would be. When I picked up my truck Todd was super helpful and walked out and explained what they did and suggestions for things to watch for in the future. I couldn't be happier to find a reliable shop in my area. I will be going back in the future! read more

Fair prices for great work, I wouldn't trust my family's cars to anyone else! Having a great mechanic you can trust is a really a minor miracle! No overcharging, no mysterious new problems with my car just knowledgeable guys. Highly recommend this place. read more

They are professional, and charismatic. Easy to talk to about car issues. Tod and Sam worked with me to get on the schedule. Nathan replaced the CCM on my Passat. He also cleaned out a mess under the hood which was causing water to leak into the car. There was an issue getting my sunroof opened so they weren't able to get those drains cleaned but not for lack of effort (I told them I'd bring the vehicle back to get the sunroof issue addressed). Jess kept me up to date. They are busy, so you may have to wait a few days to get your car in, and may need to bring it back if the work is greater than the time they'd initially assessed. Update - just discovered that they couldn't get the sunroof opened because they didn't know how to use the manual crank. They knew where it was, but not how to use it. I paid for the time to muck around with the sunroof, believing that it was something unusual and difficult. I brought the car to another place and within 5 minutes had the sunroof opened, and 10 minutes more and the drains were tested and cleaned. Apparently the West Seattle Autoworks folks didn't know you turned the crank one was for up and the other way for in. Lowered the rating to 3 stars due to this. read more

I am so happy I found this place! I am new to the area and was worried about finding a good mechanic. I thought I had time to figure it out, but then today I had a problem with my battery and my car would barely start. I looked on Yelp hoping to get some direction. I called West Seattle Autoworks and Chris said they were really busy but come on down and let him check it out. He was really friendly. I went here and was not disappointed. Even thought they were really busy, Chris stopped what he was doing to diagnose the problem. He replaced the battery right away. It was a little pricey - but for that kind of service (honest and fast) I would rather pay a little more with piece of mind. read more

After driving from Minnesota to my new digs in Seattle, my car was a little cranky. Thankfully, I was in the right place at the right time because my GPS told me that WSA was nearby. I spoke with Chris on the phone who was sincerely polite and answered all of my questions. I dropped my car off the next day, they explained the problem to me thoroughly, and fixed it up the same day at a very reasonable price. Everyone at the shop is SO nice - I had a great experience here. I appreciated that they were honest, and didn't try to push me into getting other random repairs or parts. I'll definitely bring my car back, and would recommend it to anyone needing auto service. read more

Service like that is rare and I appreciated that nice gesture. Great guys - fair prices! Highly recommend read more

These guys were super friendly and adorable. So good to know these guys are in the neighborhood.

These guys continue to take good care of my car and my wallet. I took my car elsewhere for my last oil change due to scheduling restrictions and was told I needed a transmission fluid change as well. The honest staff at West Seattle checked it out and confirmed my suspicion that was not necessary at all. I will make my schedule work to take my car here for ALL my maintenance in the future. read more
