They are busy, so took a bit of time to get on the calendar. I just got my car back and was really impressed by the whole crew in the shop. Nice guys who want to do good work and please the customer. Amazing the number of businesses that don't really grasp this concept. These guys are welcoming and it is a pleasure to do business with them. Sucked. Quoted me one number for basic service but after dropping my car off, the estimate suddenly jumped by $700. The gal gave me some BS story about how the other gal who originally gave. Me the written estimate forgot to use synthetic oil. Bu the new estimate with synthetic oil actually showed less cost for the oil change. I called her out on this and she had no real answer. I told her not to touch my car and that I would be right there to pick it up. She cowardly put the key inn an outside lock box so she did not have to face me. We needed the alternator replaced and called West Seattle Autoworks at 8:00 am. He must have sensed the desperation in my voice because he told me that he can squeeze the vehicle in during the afternoon hour. The staff was fantastic! Great customer service. They did everything that they said they were going to do. We got the car back by 5:00 pm. It is now running and it didn't cost an arm and a leg to get it fixed. This will be the only auto repair shop that we will be going to from here on out! read more

I broke down and required the use of AAA towing, they recommended West Seattle Autoworks, as did the tow truck driver. I was told they would not be able to get to the vehicle until the end of the week or early next week, as they were very busy. I was fine with that, I told them the relevant information I had and left my vehicle with them. They are conveniently located on a bus line connecting to Westwood Village. They managed to do the diagnosis tests that day and called me to inform me the fuel pump had gone bad and needed to be replaced I agreed to have the work done. I was called again end of day but missed the call and returned their call the next morning, I was told the person familiar with my car was not in yet but would return my call shortly. Two hours latter I called them again and talked to the person in charge of my vehicle. They apologized for not returning my call but they were very busy. I was informed they had forgotten to tell me that I would need to replace my fuel filter. I was told the new total price, and I asked them to also include an oil change. While no one ever likes having to pay money to maintain a vehicle, it seemed like a reasonable price to me, so I agreed to have the work done. I ended up picking up my vehicle start of next week, while driving there seemed to be a loud rattling noise behind me that increased in volume over large bumps. After researching it online I crawled under the vehicle and found that there were 3 missing bolts that connect the bed of the truck to the frame, a needed removal to replace the fuel pump assembly. I called into the shop and informed them of the situation and arranged to come in the next morning. About 50 mins latter I had my key again, I was apologized to, and told they had probably been loose and just vibrated free. Latter on in the day when I was able to, I crawled under the truck again to inspect the bolts. 1 had not been tightened all the way so there is a noticeable gap between the bolt and the frame. The 3rd bolt is still missing and had not been replaced. The other bolts all appear to be there. The truck bed no longer rattles while driving. I called and informed them, they were very polite and apologetic. I was then told that one of the bolts had been stripped, so that is why one of them had not been replaced, and he had no clue how the other bolt could not have been tightened, he was sure it had been. He offered to have me come in to have them tighten the bolt down at my convenience and I declined. I offered to send pictures of the missing bolt and the bolt with a gap, and he accepted. I believe the vehicle is secure. They were at all times professional and courteous. Yelp review 2 stars ratings = Meh. I've experienced better. read more

If you are looking for an honest mechanic that is concerned about keeping customers coming back then go to these guys. They are friendly and they go above and beyond what I have dealt with at other shops. I called them after I had a terrible unsatisfying experience at Hi Line Auto Electric and I spoke to Todd and I told him what I needed done.(.He was very professional and didn't talk negatively about the other place, and I thought that was great and not desperate for customers.) He called me back after checking on prices and gave me a much lower quote on a power steering line and asked me to bring my car by just to make sure it was the right part to order. When I stopped by Todd came out and greeted me and checked and then scheduled an appointment once the part came in. This is an extremely busy place but he accommodated me as best as he could. I also told him that my cord was broken from my washer fluid and he ran inside and got some cord and fixed it for me free of charge. I dropped my car off today and Todd told me my car would be done at 2.00 PM . Sam called me at 1:30 PM and told me my car was ready and he mentioned that he noticed my car was in need of an oil change, which is true but the price was a bit high so I said no at first but changed my mind and I called him back around 2:10 and told him I had to be in Bellevue by 3:30 and he said no problem that it would be ready at 2:45, I was so impressed by this. When I picked up my car Chris told me that there was a nail in one of the tires and he fixed it for free, for free can you believe it ? Nothing is free these days. My steering issue is now fixed and doesn't make any noise, I will be coming back to West Seattle Autoworks in the future for any car repairs and will recommend them to my friends and family! read more

What a bunch of great people! I worked with Jesse and Sam on the repair of my Land Rover. Don't take your car to a Land Rover dealer to get it fix, take it to them. They know just as much as the dealer if not more and they will charge fair prices. WS Autoworks couldn't find the new or rebuilt replacement part in the whole USA so they had to find a used part. At that point, they were willing to work with me in getting the used part (which saved me $$) from Oregon which added extra days to repair. They didn't charge me for letting my car stay there. The only reason why I didn't give them 5 star is that they were very busy so it took a little bit longer between getting the part and getting the car in the garage. I'm guessing they are so busy because of their awesome yelp scores (which are deserving). If you can wait, it's worth it! read more

Found this place on Yelp the morning after I sideswiped a concrete pillar in a parking garage and broke my driver side mirror. I stopped by West Seattle Autoworks without an appointment just so they could assess the damage. Chris stopped what he was doing and came over to take a look, then spent 10-15 minutes putting the mirror back together enough for me to drive safely until my appointment to get it properly fixed. Had our 2002 PT Cruiser in here for major work. I know enough about cars, but it's not my everyday profession, and I don't have time to goof round throwing parts at what might be. Todd was very professional and up front with my cars problems. This PT has 108k miles on her and has been our baby since driving out of the showroom Super Bowl Sunday back in 2002. I scheduled the work online, and was emailed a reminder of date and time to bring her in. My first question was: how long until our car dies? My second question was: why is the cooling system gurgling after shutdown? Todd and his team went through the car top to bottom as I requested. He found a blown head gasket, no fun. He found a laundry list of todo's. The price was very, and I mean very reasonable for all the work. Now we have our PT back in good working order with a 2 year or 24k mile warranty on the work including 1 year of roadside assistance, that's awesome - who does that? These guys are great. Very knowledgeable, customer service oriented and so nice! I've experimented with several other auto-shops and these guys are the best, they've done a great job with my Audi. They've been able to diagnose and fix my car when other shops could not then later, when a part was defective they replaced it at no cost even though it was labor intensive to do so. So I left a bad review on my last message for west Seattle auto works about my trunk issue. On 1/30 went to prep up the car, so I can take it back to the shop on 2/4. So I gave it another shot on fixing myself. Now it works properly. I disconnected the battery when I stored it since September. So by disconnecting the battery it reset the car electronics so it gave the electronic trunk to work. I was so happy to find a shop that was patient enough to explain everything to me. I just recently had my Toyota Tacoma serviced (30,000 mile) by WS Autoworks. It was super easy to communicate with them via email and set up my appt once I had a quote. Once I made my appointment and dropped the truck off they did exactly what they said they would in the quote and it was ready when they said it would be. When I picked up my truck Todd was super helpful and walked out and explained what they did and suggestions for things to watch for in the future. They are professional, and charismatic. Easy to talk to about car issues. Tod and Sam worked with me to get on the schedule. Nathan replaced the CCM on my Passat. He also cleaned out a mess under the hood which was causing water to leak into the car. There was an issue getting my sunroof opened so they weren't able to get those drains cleaned but not for lack of effort (I told them I'd bring the vehicle back to get the sunroof issue addressed). Jess kept me up to date. They are busy, so you may have to wait a few days to get your car in, and may need to bring it back if the work is greater than the time they'd initially assessed. Update - just discovered that they couldn't get the sunroof opened because they didn't know how to use the manual crank. They knew where it was, but not how to use it. I paid for the time to muck around with the sunroof, believing that it was something unusual and difficult. I brought the car to another place and within 5 minutes had the sunroof opened, and 10 minutes more and the drains were tested and cleaned. Apparently the West Seattle Autoworks folks didn't know you turned the crank one was for up and the other way for in. Lowered the rating to 3 stars due to this. read more

I thought I had time to figure it out, but then today I had a problem with my battery and my car would barely start. I looked on Yelp hoping to get some direction. I called West Seattle Autoworks and Chris said they were really busy but come on down and let him check it out. He was really friendly. I went here and was not disappointed. Even thought they were really busy, Chris stopped what he was doing to diagnose the problem. He replaced the battery right away. It was a little pricey - but for that kind of service (honest and fast) I would rather pay a little more with piece of mind. read more

I spoke with Chris on the phone who was sincerely polite and answered all of my questions. It was a hot day and when I went to pick up my car and one of the guys had started it, turned on the AC and put the windows down so when I got into it I was comfortable. I just had a strange interaction with this company on the phone. I was recommended this place by our realtor saying this is the best place to take your car to. So, I called to see if they repaired ACs and was told that they do. He then asked me my make and model and the issue with my car. I told him my issue and he agreed that it's not a typical issue and sounds a bit strange. He then told me that it would cost at least $170 to diagnose the repair. I was kind of surprised because the Ford dealer told me the diagnosis would be a bit less than that. I already think this is going to be an expensive repair, so I was really just calling around to get some pricing. So I mentioned that and said "Oh. Ok. So you guys are more expensive than what Ford quoted me for the diagnostic?" His reply was a bit strange... "Well, I know what it takes to keep the lights on here and I know our guys are good. I'd hope we're more expensive than the dealer because I've got guys here that are way better than any guy they have there," and went on for a couple more seconds about this. Just seems like such an odd reply. Isn't the stigma of dealerships that they're "too expensive"? I worked at Ford for 6 years running customer analytics and the customer's biggest complaint was how expensive the dealer is. Just finding this odd. The humble brag was just a little off putting :-/ I think I'll stick with the dealer...Which is too bad, cause it would have been nice to have somewhere closer to take my car and to support a local business over a dealer. read more

These techs are awesome. Yes, their labor/hr can be more expensive then some places but their service is bar none, their skillset is great, and they work fast. I can get electrical diagnostics as well as any mechanical diagnostic there. They always call me before they do work to verify the amount and I've never had work come out any higher than what they estimate. Sometimes its lower. LIke Jerrod I've also had the great relief of having my car fixed quickly when I'm in a jam. Having a service team that has my back is worth alot to me. I never have to worry about anything now that I've found these mechanics. They're keepers! read more
