So, this story starts off late last week of Friday November 24th in dropping off a friend. I started seeing the seatbelt icon flickering on my dashboard. At the stop light I looked around to see if there was anything on any of the other seats in my sedan. I found nothing to set off the sensors, so either a spirit was riding with me or it was my seatbelt that needed readjusting. I undid it & then buckled it back & that seemed to help in not seeing the light on anymore. So fast forward that next Tuesday the 28th I went to auto-start my car to warm it up while I did a few more things in getting ready to leave. After taking out the trash I noticed my car was off, which happens when it's fully warmed & has been sitting idle for awhile. So I started it up again, only for it to start, but then shut off again moments later. As I went to auto-start it again, it turned on by itself, but then shut off, only to repeat the process. So I'm thinking WTF?! In hoping it's not an electrical problem. I started it manually now in which it stayed on, but now the battery light was on along with the flickering seatbelt light on the dash. So I'm watching both of these lights going on & off & feeling the car shudder like it's not getting enough (juice) & wants to die. So I'm thinking "great my battery is dying." Freaked out in wondering if the car will make it to a shop, I took it to Les Schwab first in them doing a test. Turned out after adjusting my battery connection, that "seemed" to be the problem & both lights went out & all seemed fine until leaving their lot & hitting that steep hill on 35th. All resumed as before. So desperate & stressed at this point cause there was only so much Les Schwab could do, & the dealership I usually take my car to was booked out till early next year I thought of Ben from C.A.R. - Complete Auto Repair. I talked to him over the phone in describing what was happening. He went over a few things with me on what he thought could be the issue, but also told me he was booked out most of the rest of the year going into next year as I understood he may, as are most others at this time. But he still said to bring it in & he'd see what he could do for me. Which I did literally that same day. I told him how thankful I was & that he'd get back with me by the next day or so once he figured what the issue/issues were. Sure enough that Wednesday, I had my answer that it was in fact the alternator & battery in both needing to be replaced, which the alternator was at least 10 years old & the battery close to 5 years, so it made sense. I was thankful that was all it was. It came to just over a grand in expenses but well worth it. Ben was upfront, honest, efficient, & hella fast in getting my car up & working properly later that next day. There was no way it would have made it till the next oil change in early January of next year. Highly recommend Ben & I can see why he's so busy!! Happy Holidays! read more

Ben and his team are honest, fair, and great to deal with. My wife and her parents have been going to C.A.R. for a decade or more. I'm always somewhat skeptical of mechanics because of being burned in the past. I had an issue with my truck a couple years ago and took it in to Ben. After he checked out my truck, I got a call from him and I cringed as I waited for his reply to my question, "How much is it going to cost?". I was shocked at how reasonable the price was and when I got the truck back the quality of the work was impressive. One time, a few years back, Ben was driving behind my wife in traffic (near his old location on 35th) and noticed she was driving with a tail light out. He immediately called her and had her drive to the shop to take care of it right then so she didn't get pulled over (and possibly get a ticket). We literally will not take our cars anywhere else. This place is awesome, I have been having car trouble and my last mechanic wasn't a nice guy and seemed like he always over charged me, so I checked on yelp and found C.A.R with 5 stars and now I know why. He is a really nice guy and honest, told me some parts didn't need replacing. He called me with updates right away and rough estimates that were pretty spot on. He asked if he could keep it overnight because of the work being done which was thoughtful. What seemed like a job that was going to take long he was super fast and got me my car back pretty fast. Service is really great! Ben is always efficient and effective, giving you quality work and fair pricing for his expertise. He's fast, too. I don't know how he juggles everything, but he manages to finish on or before his estimates. He's also very honest about what work can wait and what needs to be done right away. I thought I would need a new radiator about 18 months ago. He replaced a hose and told me the existing one should last another year or so. I'm in today getting a new radiator, so he was spot on. I really appreciate his manner. He gives excellent explainations for a "layman" like me. He was even willing to wait a few minutes for me to get there after closing (had to let him know I needed it, of course). read more

A friend recommended this shop to us, and I am so grateful! Our Honda was having an issue and we were calling around for quotes. Ben quoted us a reasonable price, then called us back the next day to tell us that Honda had just released an extended warranty that morning for the part we needed. He told us to go to the Honda dealership and get it replaced for free. When we called the dealership, they weren't even aware of this new extended warranty yet. Ben saved us around $500. Brought my car here for a checkup because I had heard good things from my dad. However, when I got it back, the spare tire and $160 cover were both missing from the back of the car. The bolts were still there. Instead of apologizing and giving me a free replacement (which mechanics should do if car parts go missing on their property), they sold me a $50, horrible, worn down tire, and only placed 3/5 bolts back into their place. Instead of costing only $180 for a checkup, I lost $160 for my back cover, $50 for my spare tire, and two important bolts. Total cost: $290. Not a happy camper. read more

When I realized it was a little more complicated (for my talents, anyway), I called C.A.R. and asked if they would install it. My fiancé and I have been having issues with our 2002 ford focus. My car had been stalling out/dying if i was going really slow or at a stop light and with me being pregnant we needed it fixed! Our good friend ordered parts and was supposed to do it but other obligations got in the way and since we were waiting for him my car got worse. We called dere auto shop they were going to charge us quite a bit and couldn't get me in till Wednesday so have me a reference to complete auto. After explaining the urgency he told me he would squeeze me in, thank god!!! He did a great job and fairly priced. He was great and helpful we will for sure be going back for any auto needs. I've been using CAR for years. my "best" experience was quite a number of years ago and I don't remember the exact details...but I know I took my car to them and it needed something replaced. They did all the work and replaced the part. Ben had then checked and noted that the part he replaced had been subject to a recall by the auto maker (Mazda) and it would be replaced free of charge for me if I took it to the dealership. He then had to "undo" all the work he had done and he ended up charging me only for a "diagnostic" service. He could have easily just billed me for the new part and I would not have been the wiser about the recall. That experience "sold" me on his honesty. I know at times he has been able to save me some money by using reconditioned parts...with my permission of course. I appreciate that option. I'm happy to save money however I can. Being a female and knowing nothing about cars...nor really wanting to :), leaves you vulnerable to getting taken advantage of. I'm happy to find a place I can trust. read more

I only went to this place for an oil change and to replace my brake light bulb since I got a gift certificate to use their services. I was then called and adviced to replace an air filter and some addtional light bulbs. I agreed thinking I was quoted 1/3 of the amount of the certificate for an oil change. By the time I was done I was over $100 into it. REALLY? Never again!!! 3 small light bulbs, an oil change and air filter is over $100 worth of work? Truly unreasonable to me. read more

Yay, we now have a mechanic!! We brought our 10 year old car in yesterday for brake problems. Ben, the owner gave us a ballpark, we left the car and he called when he found the exact problems, giving us a solid price. It needed a few things done along with the brakes which we did know about. As we are on a budget, Ben explained what needed to be done now, what can wait and worked with us and our budget. I started taking my car to them when their mechanics gave me a second opinion on $600 worth of work that a chain store told me to do - C.A.R. could have taken my money and run but instead they told me straight out that the other advice was baloney and didn't charge me a dime. I had them do a pre-purchase inspection before I purchased a vehicle from a private party. The mechanic did a great job of inspecting the vehicle and noted that there was a problem with the transmission which I ended up using the negotiate a better price on the vehicle. read more
