Wendy Cole's salon is a breath of fresh air in Novato. Yes, it's pricey. But every single salon in Marin is pricey. And the pay-off with Wendy is that it's actually worth it. I may not be able to afford to have my hair colored by her as often as I would like, but she is extremely professional;, knowledgeable, and personable which makes it all worth it. Wendy talked to me on the phone for about 15 minutes before we even met, and she sounded genuinely excited to do my hair. She takes her time at the first appointment to really listen and understand what her client is looking for. She's also very passionate about her work and continues her education in the field with trips to New York for classes and workshops. Wendy will go far in this industry! I also had a brief experience with another stylist at Wendy's salon. Sally was also amazingly friendly and did a great job with highlights. The service and attitude at this salon is not matched anywhere else in Marin...guaranteed. I have never been 100% satisfied with a hair cut/color experience until now. read more

I have had several different types of services at this salon and I have loved every one! Wendy Coles gave me a great new hairstyle and also did a keratin straightenting - I absolutely love it! Cut my styling time in the morning by about 80% and no more frizz. I have gotten several pedicures from Mae that were all fabulous and very relaxing. Once I was in a huge rush and she just did a quick polish change which is so nice n/c a lot of salons won't do that if you don't pay the full price. I have also a facial and eyebrow wax from Victoria that I loved. OK, so the waxing wasn't relazing (it is not supposed to be!) but the facial certainly was. Loved it all. Loved how my skin looked. Highly recommend to everyone! All of these ladies are professional and courteous and I love to supprt the local Novato business. read more

I've yet to try the stylists here, but look forward to doing so in the future, judging from these great reviews...but I do want to mention their wonderful esthetician, Victoria, who has been taking care of my waxing needs for years (I followed her here from another salon, and am now willing to brave traffic and a 20 minute+ drive to see her!) Victoria is a true professional and a brow artist, who always takes her time and listens to my preferences (while still offering her expert opinion/advice). I have never once left unsatisfied. As a bonus, she is also an interesting, warm, intelligent woman to talk with! I bounce from salon to salon because most cuts and service are about equal. I have fine, sparse, difficult hair and I never get a really great result UNTIL TODAY when I visited SALLY at Wendy Coles. Service was prompt, professional and Sally gave me great tips about dealing with my hair. She was very thoughtful about my hair and after the blow dry I SAW BEAUTIFUL results. The salon was super neat and clean and very easy to locate. A huge thank you to SALLY for a great job on a very challenging head of hair. My hair looks thicker, moves well and has shine, lustre and her cut absolutely keeps the style. I WILL RETURN TO SALLY. Definite applause. What an amazing salon! I went and saw Kimbria last week and she is awesome. Very down to earth and seriously LISTENS! I have been looking for a new stylist forever and a friend of mine who recently went to her was raving, so I thought I'd make the hike to Novato and give her a try. I pay more in southern Marin and never like my hair. I was not disappointed. Thank you Kimbria! No attitudes or pretention there! They do charity events and everything. The owner, Wendy, and I were talking and she nice as well. She was telling me they are changing their name to Wendy Coles Salon, so you may find them under that name... same people! Ok, Color Color rocks! I am terrified every time I have to go to a new salon, but as soon as I walked in I felt at ease. Usually when I walk into a salon the stylist is nice to me but the others just focus on their clients - everyone from the owner (Wendy) to my stylist, Kathy, was so nice! It is a cozy and intimate environment with great music and fun people. I can't rave enough about this place, people! Just call there - everyone is awesome! I've been to Kathy twice now and she's done an amazing haircut, color & highlights, and she LISTENS (which is so rare)! And she is down to earth and hilarious. After moving from Southern Ca, I needed to find a new hair dresser as well as a salon that had skin care services. After going on Yelp I found the Wendy Coles Salon in Novato. I was lucky enough to get Wendy as my hairdresser and am extremely pleased not only with color but with a whole new style and cut. Then I also tried Victoria for her services and again extremely pleased with her wonderful touch and great products. The frosting on the cake is the friendly and welcoming atmosphere of the entire salon. I have found all salons in Marin to be a bit more than Southern CA, so I feel that is not a factor. What a find! I love Wendy Coles Salon because of their superb service! Mae takes her time with my pedicures and the polish stays on forever! The massage is the best part...I mean, honestly, who doesn't like a fabulous foot massage? and Victoria does my brows and waxing. I've been very impressed with her style and professionalism. Although I haven't had my hair done there yet, I've noticed that all who leave are happy and smiling and lookin good with their new dos.. Love Wendy! I am VERY picky regarding my hair. I like short haircuts and Wendy takes the time to get it right and make it perfect. Exactly right for my type A personality. The salon does not do wedding hair but for my wedding she had her staff come in and do blowouts and make my bridesmaids' hair look beautiful for my day. I live in San Rafael but followed Wendy when she opened her own salon in Novato and I never go past Target or Costco in Novato. This is a big deal! I love going to Wendy Coles Salon in Novato because it is in an adorable house, with "private rooms", and you can really relax while being beautified. All of the women at Wendy Coles are warm and welcoming. I am a loyal client of Kathy, who is wonderful. Looking around all the other stylists , I see that they all do a wonderful job with hair. I have been going to see Kimbria for over a year now and every time I go in I am so excited! I have long blonde hair and she gives me the best highlights I have ever had. And trust me you may think you can't mess up highlights but you can. The first time I came in Kimbria had to fix my mess of a hair. And now I will never let anyone touch my hair again! I was thrilled to find Wendy Coles and Kimbria in Novato. This salon is as modern and up to date as it gets. I let Kimbria decide on what looks best and she is awesome with my cuts and color. She is fun and professional and we have become friends. Hillary does my facials and waxing and she is amazing and I just melt when I relax into the table. Wendy has been cutting my hair for about 2 years. Her cuts are always the best, she does what I want to have done, and she is so friendly that I enjoy going there. I have had my hair cut by two other stylists over the years and they too were great. The other stylists and the staff have been very friendly, polite and informative every time I am there or call. I found this salon awhile back. I have had everything from hair extensions to color to cuts done by Kathy. She has been great. When it wasn't "just" right, she worked on it again, at no cost, till it was perfect. My husband use to own a salon and has always said, "If you find someone that does color right, follow them anywhere." Kathy is that person. She is so personable and talented. Kimbria has come to the rescue more than once. First it was a place in Novato to get my haircut (and cut well) - use to go to Mill Valley place - and she shaved my head when my hair fell out (cancer treatment). This is a fabulous salon! I have extremely curly hair and it is so hard to find stylists who are comfortable working with me. Wendy makes it seem easy, and I get a fabulous cut and highlights every time. I'm told that the other stylists are equally talented with hair of all textures.
