My daughter waited until the last minute to decide she wanted to take her twist down and get her hair flat ironed. Kimiya was able to fit her ion early on a Saturday. The solan was clean and everyone was friendly and professional. She was efficient and my daughters hair was simply beautiful. Her hair was straight and full of body, and it did not smell like burnt hair. On our way out of the solan, Kimiya recognized and area of my daughter's hair that had began to frizz because of the exposure to the moisture on the collar of my daughter's shirt. I cannot express in enough words how amazing Kimiya is at doing hair. I have been without a stylist for about a year since I moved and managed to get by with end trims at supercuts. For 2014 I decided I wanted a change, I went from mid bank length hair to grazing the shoulder. It's a scary thing to cut that much hair off and I was nervous until I sat in Kimiyas chair and she began. I have gotten nothing but compliments and lovely remarks from everyone since it happened. I recently had my hair done by Kimiya. The shop was easy to find. I'm not sure if it is always really busy or maybe she overbooked, but the service I received (partial sew in) took a long time. I arrived around 5:45pm and did not leave until 10:00pm. I am satisfied with the work, but I'm not sure who now a days has that much time to spend in a salon on a Thursday evening. YIKES! That's the only reason I gave it 3 stars. Her assistant did nice work, but she did majority of it. I almost was not sure if I was paying Kimiya or her assistant. The only reason I went to her was because of all the other yelp reviews, so I really wanted her tending to my hair the entire time. Kimiya is talented, has a lively personality, and listens when it comes to your hair. That was very appreciated. I think I will give it another shot, maybe just book in the morning. ;-) read more

I've been here twice to see Malia. Both times I wanted a dramatic change to my hair and both times she did an awesome job! I'm very happy with this stylist. The first time I was nervous about cutting my hair short and it going wrong but she nailed it! I got so many compliments on my hair after. I was referred to Kimiya at Inner Beauty by a friend/co-worker. And, I'm glad I went out my way from SF to Vallejo!! It was soooo worth it. I walked out looking FABULOUS!!! Some time ago, because of pregnancies (I guess), my hair texture and volume changed. I consulted with Kimiya via text, text pics and, phone conversations and she knew exactly what I wanted. So I made my appt with much enthusiasm!! When I got to my appt, I was glad to be treated in such a professional manner, glad to see the establishment was clean, and most important, glad that I was taken care of timely!! As I mentioned, my end result was FABULOUS!!! I get compliments everywhere I go because of my hair!!! I'm so happy I found a hair salon. Inner beauty source is very professional and a fun place to get your hair and makeup done. They are ready for your appointment as soon as you walk in. The staff are friendly and they no just what your hair needs. I haven't been to the shop in years, but that has changed now I found Inner Beauty. I came in for a color, cut, and style. My price was affordable and the end result made me feel good. I immediately scheduled my next appointment I will be getting my hair done every two weeks. I feel bad I forgot my stylist name, but I will right another review with her name in two weeks. This place is very girly with pink throughout. If I could put zero stars I would. This review is exclusively for Candra who I put my trust into keeping my hair healthy. It was my first visit to this salon and I needed a trim on my natural hair. I saw it here on Yelp with high ratings and decided to give it a try. Candra was very nice and we had nice conversation while getting my hair done. I was pleased at the end of the service because my hair was silk straight and the damaged ends were cut. I did however notice there was a lingering odor of burnt hair. Fast forward a few days later, I wash and condition my hair and I notice my curls are alot looser and straight ends were throughout my head. Not to mention how the burnt smell became more pungent through multiple shampoos. I was seeing red! I went to get my hair trimmed to cut out split ends and ended up with irreversible heat damage! I called and spoke to her and she seemed very nonchalant in what I had to say. She said she did not use heat protectant because "it wouldn't have done anything to prevent the damage" Say what?! That is what it's for. Then she said to get my curls back start doing twist outs. Really I want my natural curls without a twist out and your service took that away. I got so mad I told her I didn't have anything else to say and just hung up. So ladies beware! If you want your natural hair super straight, smelling burnt and with irreversible heat damage maybe you have the right place. But I'd advise all others to RUN far away. read more

Malia, Malia, Malia. She was WONDERFUL on what is the first of many visits I will be making to get my hair done. I called at 3:30 on a Thursday and was able to make an appt. for 5:30 same day. I went to Inner Beauty Source on a recommendation from a friend. I have always wanted to get my hair braided but as a white woman, I could not find a salon either experienced with my hair or that did not make me uncomfortable asking for such a service. I called for a consult and was given an appointment that day after being assured they did Caucasian hair. When I arrived, I instantly felt at ease. I have to stress again how difficult this has been for me in the past walking into traditionally black salons. This was NOT the case with Inner Beauty Source! They service all cultures with experience and a warmth that made me feel right at home. During the consult, both Kimi and Angel felt and looked at my hair with a confidence and knowledge that erased the last few doubts that I might be making a mistake. All of my questions were answered and I made an appointment with Angel for a few days later. Angel did an incredible job, weaving in a mixture of hair colors similar to my natural ones. She made me laugh and feel very comfortable trusting her to "do any design she wanted." Mind you, she had only spent about 15 minutes with me before this challenge. Wow! Wow! Wow! Is all I can say! I love the job Angel did! I feel glamorous and sexy but still look professional enough for my corporate job. I have received rave reviews on my new look. Even huge compliments from my African American friends that regularly get their hair braided. The were blown away at the technique Angel used to get my braids so tight and consistent. The color came out great and she did a great job with trimming my ends so that despite this haircut my hair looks healthy and now has a fighting chance of surviving and growing out. It's not easy for me to give a 5 star right off top. However, Ms. Chandra has earned all 5 stars in my book. This is my second appointment and both time I left out pleased! !!! Not only was I happy about my hair but was impressed with her hospitality. All the ladies including regular clients made me feel comfortable from the moment you enter the door. Chandra greets you with a smile, gives you her undivided attention to determine what services she can provide. It's really refreshing to find a hair stylists that has a real concern about hair care/maintenance and not just viewing you as another resource to pay their bills. I was eating next door at the sushi restaurant. I saw the salon so I decided to check it out. I walked in, unsure if they were able to accommodate me because I am white and most of the stylists are black. But upon leaving, my hair, make up, and eyebrows were all done and looking better than EVER! The atmosphere was was fun and relaxed. They helped me so much and were very professional. I found Inner Beauty Salon on Yelp and was very impressed with all the wonderful reviews and ratings. I went to the website and scheduled an appointment on line with Kimiya for a layered bob haircut on a weave. Let me also say that I had just gone to another stylist to get my weave and haircut. The stylist not only gave me the lumpiest hair weave ever....But she also gave me a blunt haircut which looked horrible!!! I needed hair rescue...STAT!! I had wanted to go short for a long time and found this salon on the recommendation of a family member. I had seen her hair and wanted to know where she had such fabulous work done. I called first and the person I reached was Candra. I kind of didn't know what I wanted, I just knew that I wanted shorter hair. With her assistance, I was able to choose a style that fit me and would be easy for me to take care of. I can't say enough about this salon. The atmosphere is amazing and the work that is done there.... Phenomenal, fantastic, wonderful... there aren't enough words to describe what I have seen and what I have experienced myself. PSA... I drove out my way for my first full sew in... The owner of this establishment is GIFTED... Lady K is all that. The other ladies who work there are also a LEVEL 10. I've been wanting a weave for a while but I didn't want it to look like a wig or weave. Lady K and her staff put in amazing work on my head. They have me looking like the hair is coming from my own head. OMG, Lady K and the K-team are all that... I came across Inner Beauty after searching Yelp for a decent and professional salon to get my hair done. That is all I ask...decent and professional. I usually never go to salons because I have very fragile and brittle hair and it needs special attention. Nonetheless, I give this place a try because of the glowing reviews. First thing I notice is the display case with an array of hair products with synthetic ingredients. At that point I realized I should have brought my own hair products. There was a bit of a wait, but when my stylist was ready, I realized she hadn't finished her previous client, and I was afraid she was going to try to juggle the both of us. But since I only literally had 3 tracks in my hair, I decided to let her go ahead and take them down. All I wanted was 3-4 tracks sewn in so it shouldn't have taken very long at all. My stylist washed and then proceeded to blow dry without putting enough, if any, moisturizer in my hair. Then she led me to sit under the blow dry bowl thing with my hair completely naked, no moisturizer, no heat protectant.Nothing. The setting was on medium high, and she wanted me to just sit there while she started finishing the other lady's hair. I was about to have a panic attack. At this point I started not to trust her as a professional stylist. After 5 minutes, I told her that my hair was dry and that I was taking the bowl off or else my hair would dry out and start breaking off, and she got an attitude. Sorry lady, but I know my hair, and I'm not about to come walking out of the salon like a freshly plucked chicken because you overbook your appointments. At the point when I ran my fingers through my hair and saw pieces breaking off in my fingers, it was time to go. I got up and told her that I'll just pay for the wash and take down services and asked her where I should pay (since the lady at the front desk must have taken off). She looked a bit surprised, and continued doing the other lady's hair. I again, asked her for the price. No answer. So it wasn't until I started making my way towards the front, when an answer quickly summons forth from the stylist's mouth. $35 for the wash and the take down of my 3 extensions, she quotes. I pay, and get the heck out of there. All I look for in a salon is a decent and professional shop where I can come in and get my hair done without all of the extras. In professional, I mean friendly stylists who understand and CARE about their clients hair, not just there to make a buck. And what I mean by decent, is a nice, inviting shop where owners know how to run a good business and how to hire good employees. While that stylist was openly going on about the bills she had to pay, if she would have simply done her job that probably wouldn't have taken her any longer than an hour and a half or so, she would have been tipped generously. There is no way these reviews are real. This place is super unprofessional. I understand that black salons have ridiculous waits, but this place tops the cake. If I have an appointment for 1pm I expect to be seen around that time. I checked in at 1 and waited a good 30 minutes before getting seen...apparently no one knew I was there...ummm I checked in with you at 1 . The lady that was doing the braids for the weave was going through a personal issue and kept fighting with someone on the phone...then finally she decides to take it in the back room and rips someone a new one and then begins sobbing...AWKWARD! After the braids were done, the stylist started working on other people....3 hours later I told the stylist Kimya that I did not like the experience and that I was leaving....she told me that she didn't want me to leave...but the service sucked! I drive over to inner beauty source on a Wednesday morning a little after 9 expecting them to be open( as stated online ) and they were not . I travel to Richmond area to get my hair done frequently and figured something closer would be more convenient. There are no hours of operation in the window to show accurate location hours either . I have been going to Inner Beauty Source with Kimiya for about 3 years. Kimiya is an extraordinarily creative, knowledgeable stylist. She is great at everything which is rare! She gives a great flat iron/press, hair cuts are top notch and her weaves are outstanding. She stays at the forefront of the latest and greatest in hair. Kimiya is a weaver extraordinaire! I don't ever like to out myself but with her skills, no one ever knows I'm wearing a weave AND a closure! I can wear my hair up, down, in a ponytail and it looks unbelievably natural.
