When I came in the first time, another customer was dropping off stained sweaters, and the store associate was very honest about what stains could and could not be removed. For one, she looked at the material and the stain and explained why fixing it would be more expensive than the sweater was worth. I had a very good experience here when dropping off a suit, a few pairs of pants, and a couple dress shirts recently. This place was pretty no-frills, the woman was friendly enough, but I most appreciated the level of service with respect to the price paid. I moved to the neighborhood two months ago and have used Wellington Cleaners a few times. Recently I had a dress hemmed - the thread she used was a color completely different from the dress AND the stitching started coming undone after an hour of wearing it. Extremely poor quality. My roommate brought her white hospital coat here and clarified that she wanted it dry cleaned to get pen stains out. Instead, the cleaners bleached it, completely ruined all of the custom stitching on the coat, AND a mysterious orange stain showed up on the back. Guess I'll be taking my own white coat elsewhere. Go ANYWHERE else in the neighborhood for dry cleaning. I went in to pick up my $300 down jacket a ten days after dropping it off and she couldn't find my coat. Three trips to the back and then to the counter, still no coat. I remembered I still had my pink slip she gives you when you drop it off in my pocket, I give it to her to help her track my coat by the number instead of the last name. Still no coat. She starts to dig through the garbage and finds the white slip with my last name on it; someone else has signed off on the slip and payment had been completed on the coat. I pull out the pink slip with my last name on it and ask her why she gave my coat to someone with out this slip? I tell her she will have to reimburse me the $300 my coat is worth... She absolutely refuses to pay me, blames the missing coat on sometimes "people don't bring me their tickets" and yells at me to leave her alone. So now, I'm out a coat, $300 and the fact that she just gives merchandise away to people with out tickets is completely unnoticed. read more

I dropped off a brand new t-shirt before the pandemic quarantine; during that time many things changed in my life from the shutdown until today. I went in to pick up my t-shirt that I was having altered and she informed me that it had been there too long and it was no longer there. I never got a call from them, although she said they called me 2 or 3 times. But if she knew it wasn't there why did she spend time looking for the shirt? No apology or anything. It was a brand new t-shirt that had never been worn. The customer service was poor and non-existent to say the least. I could barely understand her horrible broken English and the temperature in the cleaners felt like a 100 degrees. I understand they can't keep items forever but considering the current climate in the world I think some leeway would be appreciated. We're all going through tough times during this pandemic. Here is the short version of this story: I drop off an item to be cleaned on Friday at 7 am. Mind you, the lady makes me stand there waiting for 8 minutes without even acknowledging my presence because she is was sizing a shirt for alteration with another customer. But really, you can have the decency to just say "Good morning, I'll be with you in a few minutes" Don't just ignore me! It's a small room and we are the only ones in there. Fine, whatever, she's a rude bitch and I'm now running late to work. Anyway, she tells me I can pick up my item by 10am Monday morning. Come Monday afternoon, after again making me wait because she is fiddling around with some crap in the back, she comes back to get my ticket, look for my item, and proceed to tell me that my item isn't back yet and I should return at 4pm. Wtf, do you seriously think I have nothing else to do all day? Anyway, this exact shit went on until WEDNESDAY when she FINALLY had my item back... No real apology, and a $1.25 off of the original $4.95 she was going to charge me for ONE fucking long sleeve shirt. And she didn't get any of the stains off of it. Never again. I work at the hospital across the street and initially tried this place for tailoring needs. I had been satisfied with my alterations on a few occassions and decided to try the actual cleaning services. BIG MISTAKE! None of the four items I brought in were actually cleaned. In addition, they completely ruined a pair of my pants and took no accountability. I had only worn the slacks twice and never had them cleaned before. When I told them that they destroyed my favorite slacks, they told me that I brought them in that way. I did not take them faded pants. No dry cleaner in the world would even take them in the condition they were in once I got them back. There was some sort of chemical that created drip marks and streaking down the front of my pants. They never even tried to accommodate me, and came up with several excuses. Going so far as to tell me that the black stripe on the pant bled onto the white part, and that sometimes happens... Therefore, I shouldn't buy black and white clothing. Who says that? Everyone thinks the little lady owner is so pleasant. She is, until she screws up your clothing. She had me fooled, too. Oh, and the actual service? Perfect. She was able to get several stains out of a nice suit coat my boyfriend purchased at Salvation Army, and she was able to remove year-old stains of unknown origin from my favorite white shorts. Wellington Cleaners has been my cleaner for about a year now. Is it the fastest? No. Typical turnaround Is it the cheapest? No. Prices are pretty good for the area, but not the cheapest in the city. Is it the nicest? YES. The owner is always there working away. She remembers her customers and is just so sweet and pleasant and organized. Never have any issues where she can't find the clothes very quickly. I've never had any problems with my dry cleaning. Things come out as expected: stains removed, pants pressed, and no clothes missing. She does do tailoring, but I've never had much work done. However, she will do minor repair work (i.e., fix loose buttons, sew up tiny sweater holes) for free with dry cleaning. read more

I started going here because my other place closed down, and this one can actually be on my way to and from the train to/from work. The lady who works there is super nice and always knows where my stuff is. Last Halloween she did a last-minute costume adjustment for me when I walked in. Of the hundreds of things I have brought in, I think one has been lost, but I will allow for the chance that I lost it and my brain just doesn't want to be held accountable. After reading the great reviews, I used this shop to get my best suit cleaned after my old dry cleaner shrunk one of my sweaters and over-pressed a pair of slacks. The suit came back looking great and still the same size! I'm giving this place 5 stars, because the owner is the most adorable person in the world. She is an extremely small woman and was jamming to Poker Face when I arrived. While I had to shout over the music to grab her attention, she was extremely apologetic and friendly as usual. I like this place. First time customer. Will return here in the future. There are several dry cleaners in my area and I chose not to go to them because of their poor reviews. I found Wellington Cleaners and went out of my way to go here (about a mile from my apt) because of the great reviews it's received, and I'm heavily influenced on places with great reviews. I had 6 pairs of pants altered and she did a great job. No issues. She's a super nice old lady and I can tell she's passionate about her work. She also told me that if I went home and tried them on and needed any minor adjustments, that I could come back and she'd fix them. My only small issue, and this is hardly an issue but thought I'd at least mention it, she told me my pants would take about 4 days to finish and that she would call me when ready. I waited a week, no call. Then two weeks later, I called her to ask for a status update, and she said they had been done since the previous week. So again, not a big deal but just was expecting some sort of follow up from her. Great cleaners and I'm just giving them a 4 for now because I haven't used all their services yet, but the pants she altered were in top shape. read more

STAY AWAY!!!! Avoid at all costs no matter how cheap the prices are. If I could give this place negative stars I would! Don't be lured in by the cheap prices. This woman is not dependable, reliable, consistent and down right rude. When I first came here she did fine with alterations and dry cleaning. However, third time I came she absolutely ruined a $300 sweater. I have had it dry cleaned plenty of times with no problems. Immediately she began arguing with me that it never had stripes and I was wrong. I showed her a picture and she continued to argue. Needless to say I didn't pay. Fast forward 9 months. Her alterations had been good. So I came to have a few dress pants. I figured simple task and at $6 why not. Oh wow. First she did not have them ready as promised. When I arrived she seemed shocked and kept saying she would have them ready 3 hours later. I told her multiple times I would not be able to return then but she consistently repeats herself and talks over you. When I was able to come back I tried the hemmed pants on with sandals. One pair was too long. She immediately began arguing with me saying I should have worn those sandals when she pinned the pants. I pointed out that I came in ballet flats which are exactly the same heel height. Should I have brought all my shoes? They seemed to work for the other pants as they were the right height. She than began yelling and insisting I had come in heels which is absurd. At that point my mom called and I was gathering my things. I told her what happened and that I was taking my pants. She instructed me to just have her re-do them as it was silly to pay someone else. Against my better judgment I reluctantly relinquished the pants back to her. At that point she is huffing and muttering under her breath. Than she began talking to a man in the back in a foreign language. He came out and started reprimanding me and accusing me of calling the police. I asked if he was insane. Why would I call the police??? She then wouldn't give me back the pants so I said fine I'll come tomorrow. She then insisted on only charging me for 2 of the pants and would wait to charge me for the third. I didn't notice the sign, which says $10 credit card minimum, my bad. Regardless, I explicitly tried to ask her if there was a credit card fee or minimum amount. She kept talking over me and yelling in said foreign language. When I paid the $12 I noticed no cc fee so figured it was fine. Long frustrating story short I returned just 20 minutes ago to pick them up. Shocker, went to pay and she indicted there was a $10 fee. Usually I don't carry cash and I wanted to grab them and just leave but I paid her the $6. Wish I hadn't as when I pointed out I had asked her about credit card fee she blatantly told me to shut up, no joke. I couldn't be bothered to reason with a crazy person.
