A true family own business with top notch service. I just want to start by saying that Emma is such an incredibly kind human. I needed my wedding dress cleaned in under two weeks so that I could wear it again (we did a separate ceremony and reception). She was able to work with a very delicate fabric and get all of the stains out + press it to look like new. I went to pick up my dress on Wednesday, but it wasn't ready due to a flood at their plant. I came back the next morning and it still wasn't ready, because she insisted on it being perfect. She was so apologetic and insisted on HAND DELIVERING it to me that evening after she closed the store so I didn't have to return. The dress looks incredible, I'm left feeling so taken care of and I get to celebrate on Saturday! I don't write reviews and it's silly to think I'm just talking about a dry cleaner, but this experience just made me smile. I had shopped around with pricing but there is an industry standard minimum so you should just go to a place you trust. No "deals" to be had. I'm pretty certain this dry cleaner is under new ownership. I discovered Cleaners on Division in May because I saw their sign that said eco-friendly cleaning, something I hadn't been able to find in Wicker Park. I engaged the owner in a discussion and the impression I got was that she is relatively early in her ownership, having come from a previous dry cleaner. I mention this because of the long history of negative reviews that I see here that are completely out of sync with my experience. The owner is Emma and she is incredibly service-oriented, caring, and passionate about all of the details of both dry cleaning and tailoring. I've had several things tailored and she is quick and tremendously knowledgeable. She always wants to ensure the garment's design is preserved or improved. In other words, it's not just about taking in a waist, it's about ensuring the end result looks great on your body and doesn't harm the design. Her turnaround is quite quick. We also take our dry cleaning to her. Not only are we no longer exposing our bodies to harmful chemicals, but everything so far has come out perfect -- no issues at all. DO NOT GO HERE! THEY RUINED MY QUILT! I took my new white Anthropologie quilt here to be cleaned. I had construction going on in my home so once I picked it up from being cleaned, I left it folded in it's plastic so that it did not get dirty. Now that I have finally opened my quilt up, I have seen that it is just RUINED! Dark spots all over it, and even small orange "rust" looking spots. This was a $400 quilt set that is just no longer usable. I took the quilt back in and they say that because I picked it up 1 month prior, there was nothing that they can do. I explained I wanted to "keep it clean" as I had construction going on in my home, and that is why I did not open it for 1 month. They did not care. I asked for them to file an insurance claim - and they refused. Is this not why they have insurance? There is no signage that indicates you must bring an article back within a certain timeframe. I even brought the quilt back in it's original plastic it was given to me in! If I had opened this 1 month ago, you'd believe I would not have kept the plastic. I am just so appalled at the HORRENDOUS customer service and lack of help or even interest in the matter. She did not even inspect the piece when I brought it back in to show her. I also brought in another quilt at the same time - so I paid nearly $100 for these 2 items to be cleaned and this one was absolutely ruined. She did not offer me any incentive or even ask if I wanted a refund for the services (not that that would make me feel better as it will not fix my item). Please do yourself a favor and never go here. She claims "we have nice things here all the time." So I would beware of taking any nice items here! read more

Cleaners On Division RUINED our sofa cushions. We took in our velvet-textured sofa cushion covers to be cleaned because of some water spots from past spills which were a little lighter than the color of the cushions. When we took them out of the bag to put them back on the sofa I was mortified. On one side of the cushions there is a permanent crease through the middle. On the other side of the cushions the whole texture of the fabric looks and feels completely ruined and now our sofa needs to be reupholstered or thrown out. We spent $30 on the cleaning and lost so much more money as a result. When we took them back they refused to take responsibility or reimburse us and were completely unapologetic, saying we must have done the damage ourselves. It's hard to differentiate among cleaners, since they offer the same basic services. This one is a stand out, though. Most notably, the service is fantastic. Little old lady behind the counter is 100% dedicated to customer satisfaction. She is super friendly and always willing to revise a hem or re-do a cleaning if it does not meet superior standards. Second, they offer a great product at a solid price. I have been here with over 30 items and each has returned in pristine condition. Lastly, this place offers same day service if you drop off by 9 am and pickup 5-7pm. Same day service is no extra charge, which is rare in my experience. Moved around the corner and was looking for a tailor and dry cleaner. My new roommate suggested this place, Michelle the tailor is amazing! She's quick with alterations or dry cleaning, the few times I've needed it ASAP. Wonderful customer service with wonderful results. I wear a lot of Vintage and it needs alterations. I frequently need shoulder pads removed, hems shortened, sleeves redone or waists taken in. She has been fabulous. Her price is fair. She made a mistake once on hemming a 1930's dress that originally did not have a straight hem. Her hem was straight but didn't correct the dresses inherent flaw. When I pointed that out, she apologized and took it back to fix again for free. She will dry clean or steam a dress if she thinks it needs it for free for me. She also cleaned my 4 by 6 ft thrifted area rug for $22! What a deal for a kilm rug. read more

Has any male received 2 wrong shirts of theirs? I went in this morning to pick up 2 of my nice shirts and it seems they were given to someone else who was picking up multiple shirts. One is a solid purple John Varvatos and one is a solid white Banana Republic. I Left your two Bonobos shirts at the cleaners that they thought were mine one is white plaid and one is white with a small blue pattern. One of the shirts is slim fit and a size 15 neck. Everyone here is very friendly, and I've had great service. I think the most important thing to know about it is that it's prepaid, so you pay for the service when you drop off your clothes. But I like this, anyhow, because it makes picking up my clothes much faster. Prices are pretty standard, at least for shirts and pants, which is all I've taken there. read more

I decided to check this place out based on the better than average reviews some time back. Since then, I now see several bad reviews have been posted. I've been to many dry cleaners in the area. Customer service here is horrible and I am not surprised by the recent reviews of the way the mother and daughter will deny and not take responsibility for any issues. The first time I came in it was with the daughter who was professional and friendly. The 2 other times was with the mother. 1st time with the mother, I didn't have the receipt. She scowled at me and said I should have the receipt for next time. I brushed it off. Fine I'll remember my receipt Second time, I picked up my blouse and got a quote for a down comforter. She quoted me a high price of $40 so I said I'll take it elsewhere. After she got the blouse I was picking up, I was about to ask a question and she cut me off and told me to move aside as she had another customers (note it was only 1 customer and even the customer said she has no problems waiting). I then said, I would like to know if you use environmental products in all your clothes. (I noticed the poster next to the register indicating they use environmentally safe chemicals). She responded "We send to factory. I don't know how clothes cleaned." Again in a rude and rushed way. I understand that many of the dry cleaners send out their clothes to a factory, however, I expect owners to be somewhat knowledgeable on how the clothes are treated. And not be so rude about it. If the owner is so clueless, how can you trust the that the owner did their due diligence in selecting a factory that treats clothes with quality and care vs just selecting a place that would clean the clothes at the cheapest price? Plus, they overcharge. She said that my down blanket would be $40 to dry clean regardless of the size. Other places charge by size and generally charge between $25 to $30 for a queen down comforter. Fortunately, out of the 2 times I have had my clothes cleaned there, nothing has been ripped or gone missing like the past reviewers have said. But I will not be going back again. read more

These 'cleaners' ruined my black pants because they were using some sort of cheap chemicals and burned the fabric out. In addition to that - I had my vibrant green windbreaker cleaned here and after their cheap products it faded 3 shades. It was the worst cleaning experience. If you'll notice a lot of the 5 star reviews are probably written by fake accounts who only have 2-8 other reviews total on yelp. Don't trust these people. When I brought my items up for a discussion she refused to refund the money and said there is nothing that can be done. Finding a tailor after I move is always stressful since I have my go-to person that does a perfect job back in North Carolina. Unfortunately, it's not very feasible for me to fly back to NC every time I need something tailored. I went to Cleaners on Division with a very difficult dress to hem. It has an asymmetrical hem and there is a delicate sheer fabric trim at the bottom. She had to cut the trim off, hem the regular fabric and re-attach the trim. In addition, the straps had to be shortened. I went in for 2 fittings and the dress turned out perfectly! I picked it up the morning of my event and was very happy. The job cost ~$60, but it was really worth it. As long as I'm living around here I will go back to get anything hemmed. read more

Great dry cleaners, family owned business. I have had shirts laundered or dry cleaned there weekly for over a year with no issues. Excellent repair of a torn item. Prices are competitive and I have never had an item damaged. (Although I have never had couch cushions or comforters cleaned as other reviewers mention).
