I've been looking for a tailor for years and am so grateful to have found Nura. I had some clothes I had gotten on sale that were a few sizes too big. She explained that she went to advanced schooling but beyond being technically very good she is simply an artist. It's hard to describe but there is something magical how she effortlessly pins and pleats the clothes in a way that not only flatters you but is an improvement on the original design. Closed Monday I dropped off five winter coats, including a knee-length goose down filled one, two men's winter jackets, one women's hooded jacket, and a zip-out liner for one of the men's jackets. They were ready a week later. Total bill was $90.00. Compared to my local neighborhood, this was about half price. All garments were beautifully clean, no issues at all. Their tailoring services include wedding and prom dresses, women's, men's and children's suits and other clothes. A customer I met was having alterations to an old dress to bring it up to date, and said she has had Nura do her work for years. Two Asian women run the business. They are English-speaking, both very friendly and careful to get all the details down. It's a small shop, with obvious work in progress everywhere you look. Payment is by cash or credit card (I used Visa) on pickup. There is street parking along Lincoln Ave. A side street joins Lincoln just south of the address, which may have parking. What a fantastic result! I'm 5'7" with a long torso and short legs, so my dresses are always long. I brought a dress in that I'm going to wear to my nephew's wedding so I want it to be perfect for the day. I had it shortened (to the ankles) and it has a tulle overlay and material underneath with is a hassle to get the best results and I needed the bust closed up a little. Greatly priced too as I'm quite frugal. I could not have asked for a better job done. She doesn't have 5 stars for nothing! I'll be sure to bring any and all things that I need altered.....I also live in the downtown area of chicago, so this is a little trip to me to get to, but totally worth it. read more

Accommodating, polite, good quality work. Issue is, they told me to be there at 7. My item wasn't started yet when I arrived at 7 (closing time). Asked me to come back at 7:30. I showed up at 7:40. They had me sit with no updates until 8:30. I asked if I could pick up in the morning. Oh no, they wanted to finish tonight. Because of this I had to make arrangements for someone to pick up my child and I think we ate dinner at 9:30?...I am fine with more time needed and respect someone else making the effort. I had such a great experience with Nura Express Tailor and they definitely now have a loyal customer! As someone who unfortunately is not skilled in the stitching and sewing department, I'm not ashamed to ask for help. I sent out a project message on Yelp and Nura beat out a few other businesses because of their prompt response, attention to detail, and of course price and time. I needed a patch sewn on to a baby blanket for a baby shower. The price was beyond reasonable to remove a label and place a patch in that spot. The quality of the stitch was INCREDIBLE and you cannot even tell there was a label there. Everyone who saw the blanket had no idea there was a huge label on the blanket. The turnaround time was also quite impressive. Even though it was a smaller job, some people were quoting me over a week for the job... Nura offered just two days. It is easy to communicate with the shop via Yelp business page or calling them. The shop is easily accessible and there is a lot of street parking available. To make a long story short I cannot say enough good things: kind, efficient, and great pricing for the timeframe. But if you're interested in the details here they are: I had put off getting my bridesmaid dress altered for far too long because I was convinced nothing could be done to help salvage it. The silhouette simply didn't work on my figure, I didn't feel supported, and it had arrived too close to the wedding to exchange it for another option (the bride let us pick our dresses as long as they were in the correct color). It was now a week before the wedding and I was panicking - enter Yelp. I searched for Tailors near me and Nura's popped up so I reached out via message to see if what I needed was even possible and if they could fit me in that same day. The response was prompt and we made an appointment for later that afternoon. When I arrived I honestly didn't know what I wanted. I knew I needed it hemmed and I knew I hated where the bust line hit but I didn't think lowering it was possible. I also needed to make sure the straps held everything in place without cutting off my circulation. Nura was so patient with me and walked me through all my options. We decided on taking fabric from the hem to make a belt and create a new waistline. She assured me it would be ready that Thursday (3 days later!!!!) before I had to leave. Thursday came and I went to pick up the dress, I was hopeful but cautious since I felt I was asking for a lot. Well. I shouldn't have worried AT ALL because the dress came out better than I could have hoped. It looked like it had been made that way all along, for me so perfectly, and was still nice and comfortable. Nura literally redid the entire zipper to ensure everything was seamless and where it should be given the new silhouette and I wore it all day long from photos to the after part with absolutely zero issues. I ordered my outfit online so the top was gaping and tugging in the wrong places and the skirt was completely falling apart at the seams. She responded to me within 30 minutes of my request and was very kind. I dropped my dress off on Wednesday, and I was able to pick it up Sunday. For both tailoring and a dry clean, it was $55. Nura is absolutely AMAZING!! I needed a Christmas costume tailored immediately. I'm very tall and thin, but most of the fashion world thinks extra-tall people weigh 500 lbs as well - especially when it comes to costumes. So needless to say, the outfit arrived and it was super-baggy. Due to a pushed delivery date vs. the event, I literally had a 4-hour window to get this done. I sent out a blast to Yelp!-listed tailors around the north-side of the city and suburbs. Nearly every response came back telling me that 4-hours was ridiculous. Most came back with a TWO-WEEK turnaround. Not Nura. I'm sure I caught her on a slower day, but no less, she helped and insisted she could get the alterations done in time. When I brought it in, I tried on the outfit and we went over what needed to be done. I prioritized the to-do list, as I didn't think she'd be able to knock out everything needed to bring this super-baggy outfit to normalcy. But alas, she insisted that she could knock everything out at a fair price. No insane "emergency" upcharges, no lectures or sighs, she just took the clothes and got straight to work. When I came back, the outfit was already done 30-minutes sooner. I was expecting slightly haphazard work, due to the rush-nature of the project. But NO - everything was tailored to look tight and seamless, just as if it came from the factory. PERFECT FIT!! I can't imagine Nura will always be this available for quick turnarounds, since she probably had a smaller workload that day, so please don't hold her to ridiculous turnarounds like I did. But if Nura says she can do it - NURA CAN DO IT!!! She is as AWESOME as tailors come. I will be going back to her often. read more
