Let me preface by saying I never actually received alterations at this location. A couple weeks ago I went in for my appointment, that I scheduled 2 months out. The lady at the desk questioned if I was at the correct location and I was. She then told me they were overbooked and i'd need to wait for a fitting room to be available, which was no big deal. As I was waiting however, I noticed an unhappy couple with many critiques on their alterations. As well as a lady who had her wedding dress altered incorrectly. Sew & Glow did an excellent job with my wedding dress alterations--I would give 5 stars based on the work alone. However, my experience varied greatly depending on the staff member, and my final appointment brought my rating down a star. Positives first: the woman who helped me during my second and third visits was amazing--kind, encouraging, and truly made the experience special. She complimented my dress and shoes, asked about my wedding, took photos for me, and I even saw her sweeping to keep the fitting room space clean. She also carefully explained the bustle. Unfortunately, my final visit to pick up the dress was frustrating. There was confusion locating my dress, and while it was eventually found using my receipt, it was stressful. When trying it on, the bustle initially looked incorrect, and I had to reference photos from a prior visit to help fix it. I was also accidentally pinched while the detachable bow was being attached, and it was initially placed incorrectly. The dressing room also was not swept and seeing dark hairs on the floor and pins from a prior customer was unsettling. When I asked for guidance on storing the dress in the garment bag (which I had paid to have steamed), I was given no assistance. Additionally, my dress was placed in a fitting room that was used by another customer while I was paying, which felt unprofessional. At checkout, I felt rushed to leave while waiting for my Uber, and there was no acknowledgment or well-wishes when I left, which was disappointing given the significance of the purchase. The alterations themselves were well done--taken in at the sides, straps adjusted, bust tightened, hemmed, and steamed--for $700, which matched the original quote and seemed reasonable compared to other shops. Overall, it was great alteration work and there was definitely one standout employee. But the inconsistent customer service--especially during my final visit--impacted my experience. read more

On short notice, they made it happen flawlessly. They let the dress out just enough to keep the pattern intact and even created an alternative bow attachment that made dancing easier. The turnaround time? About 3-4 hours. The craftsmanship? Perfect. Terrible experience, this was my first alteration ever, when i made the appt the confirmation email/text didn't say to bring any shoes. When i arrived the lady told me to "stand in the fitting room", 5 mins later asks me if i need help. No? you told me to stand here so i waited for someone to talk to me. After putting on my dress she asked if those were the shoes i was gonna wear i said no and she gave me a stare and threw her hands up. these people were not trying to help me 0%. she told me she's not able to do the alteration without the shoes. i truly did not appreciate the lack of communication throughout this entire experience. and i let them know that before leaving and all the lady had to say was "have a nice day". messed up service here, they truly do not care about their services. a waste of time, would not recommend. read more

Not a great experience. The staff was friendly but the outcome of the alterations was less than ideal for the price. I had a bridesmaid dress that needed the waist and chest taken in and the waist moved up. The first time I went to pick up the dress, the zipper was completely broken. They fixed that and the second time I went to try on the dress the back waist is completely bunched and not a straight line anymore. For how pricey these alterations were, I was expecting a lot more. I rarely write reviews, but my experience with this place was so bad I felt the need to let others know. I brought my wedding dress in for a simple alteration. The bust and waist area needed to be taken in slightly and it needed to be hemmed a bit. They pinned the areas that needed taking in, and we discussed how the hip area would be left alone. I paid upfront for everything and they said it would be ready by the date I initially requested. About a week later I received a text that it was ready. I had an hour window in my day to run and pick up my dress so I didn't have time to try it on there. I get home and try the dress on in between my meetings, and I can't even zip it up. It was about a size too small not just in the bust and waist area, but the hips too. My wedding is 4 days away, so i'm freaking out. I call and tell them the issue, and the woman on the phone says to come back and they'll fix it on the spot. I go back to their shop later on and put the dress back on to show them the issue. The woman says she remembers our discussion and marks it where it needs to be let out. She then says it will be ready in two days. I return to pick up the dress and I try it on to make sure it fits. It's now too loose and fits pretty much exactly the way it fit BEFORE I took it to them. At this point, its two days before my wedding and I don't have the energy or time to go back and forth with them. I just accept that this is how it's going to be. I literally have to safety pin my dress the day of. Needless to say, I was uncomfortable the entire time I was wearing it and felt self conscious about how big it looked. Not exactly how you want to feel during your wedding. A few other things I need to mention because I feel like these are really basic services that they did not provide. - They did not protect the dress while in their possession. When I handed it over to them, I had a protective plastic cover over the dress to prevent stains and anything snagging onto the silk. When I went to pick it up, it was just hanging on a rack without any protective cover. - They did not steam or press the dress before handing it over. I think this is a pretty standard practice that is to be expected when picking up a garment that's just been altered, especially a wedding dress. - I could see where the fabric had been sewn and pinned and then let out again. No attempt to fix or clean that up on their part. - There were marks which looked like oil marks/ fingerprints right on the front of my dress. Again, no attempt made by them to clean or fix that. Overall, super disappointed in my experience and do not recommend them for any type of alteration services. In terms of price, they charged me $275. I thought that was a bit steep since it was a super simple dress and the alterations were very minimal, but I didn't think it was egregious. read more

So I bought a dress for a wedding that didn't fit me very well but I loved the dress so I kept delaying making a decision about returning it until we were about 10 days out from said wedding and I didn't have an alternative. I had initially booked an appt with the department store I purchased the dress from but I walked by this store and decided to give it a try. I kind of figured the dress was doomed anyway. It was loose all over except in the hips. Even the top wouldn't stop gapping which is usually not an issue for me. She not only got a dress that just wasn't meant for my body type to fit like a glove (see picture) but she finished the alterations early and also tailored a pair of shorts that had a huge waist gap that I threw in with the dress when I came in. 10/10 job. I took an old, very delicate silk shirt/jacket to have 2 tears mended. They did such a fabulous job I could not find them. Then as I was paying, we found another tear that we had missed. The gentleman told me to come back in half an hour. It was mended beautifully, once again, and he didn't charge me anything extra. I felt bad he would not take money for it, but he said instead to write a favorable review. So here it is! These people are VERY GOOD, gracious, and kind. I was told when I dropped my dress off to be hemmed, I was told the price would be a completely different amount than I was charged at pickup. I ended up paying way more for the dress to be hemmed than I spent on the dress and I definitely would not have brought here, had I been told the correct price. I even double checked with her when I dropped it off on the price because the dress was beaded. A lot of the beads were removed in the process. I am really disappointed with the pricing that was not upfront here :( read more

I brought in a long dress and was hoping to have cups sewn in, as the fabric was relatively thin and the straps were not as supportive as I would have liked. I tried on the dress and explained what I was looking for, and said multiple times I would understand if the material was too thin to sew cups in. I was assured it was not a problem. The seamstress opened a drawer of nude cups (my dress was dark, no black cups were offered) and asked me for my size. She then handed them to me and told me to put them where I wanted them. I was kind of hoping that she, as the expert, would help me with that and show me where the cups needed to go to work with that dress. Finally, she pinned them into the dress and asked when I needed to pick up - I asked for a week and she said it was not a problem. I then had to pay up front (which seemed very odd) and was told to wait for a text that the dress was ready. The agreed upon pickup date came and went with no text, so I went to the store and asked for my dress. She said if I hadn't received a text, it wasn't ready. When I pointed out that I needed it the day before, she found the dress, looked at the ticket, and realized I was right. She apologized and asked when I needed it by. Umm... right now? I had a wedding that afternoon. She said she'd sew in the cups immediately and call me. Two hours later - no call, so I called. She didn't even remember me from that morning, and told me that the dress was ready. Shocker - it looked TERRIBLE. The cup edges stuck out, the sewing looked awful. What an absolute waste of money - and no apology or discount offered for the experience. Don't risk your clothes here. read more

Let me start off with I never leave reviews. However, i've been to this place twice and I don't recommend at all. The first time she told me my dress would be ready by a certain day and when I showed up that day, she said you need to come back a week later. Luckily I had more than enough time. Then, I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and think that maybe it was just a busy week and went back to her. I show up, she can't find my dress and she's telling me it's at a different location. Then she finds my dress and wants to fight me on what the color actually is. Tells me she couldn't find it because she got blood on it and had to clean it. I totally understand that there may not be that many people to help her out, but don't take on more dresses if you can't support the volume. And don't be so unorganized you're telling someone you have no idea where their dress is when they're getting on a flight for a wedding in less than two days. read more

I've had a few pleasant experiences here. My takeaway is they're efficient and affordable! Most recently, I needed the straps shortened on a sleeveless top. The alteration was done in one day! I also brought my wedding dress in for a quote, and they came in a few hundred dollars less than some of the major wedding dress seamstresses in the area.
