Wanted to try this spot again since it's been a few years now since my first visit. I decided to try the French toast, and I added the berry compote for a couple dollars more. The French toast was pretty dry, it definitely needed moisture, so I'm glad I added the compote and a lot of syrup. The fries were solid, I also got the prickly pear lemonade. It was very sweet, tasted like candy. I did think the prices were high for what you actually get.. I liked the atmosphere and the staff was friendly.

The Bumblebee chicken biscuit sandwich

Always hits the spot! Love the welcome diner whenever in the downtown area. They make such a dang good burger I usually always end up getting that but today I opted for the Bumblebee. OMG amazing! A perfectly fried chicken breast sandwich on a scratch made delicate biscuit slathered with grainy mustard with just a hint of horseradish for that touch of heat in just the right way finished with honey. Amazing! The side salad is anything but simple. Just the right amount of vinaigrette with the butter lettuce and the acidity is the perfect balance to that chicken sandwich. Match made in heaven.

Such a fun spot! Welcome Diner has such a cool, eclectic vibe--retro meets artsy in the best way. The interior is full of character, and the whole place just has a great energy, especially if you're sitting out on the patio or near the bar. I got the Welcome Burger and wow--it was delicious. Perfectly juicy, flavorful, and just messy enough in the best way possible. Definitely crave-worthy. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu!

Being from the east coast I miss a local diner! Food was on point, nice cozy vibe, and service was extremely quick and on point. Our waiter recommended the Mac and cheese with the chorizo and it did not disappoint. One of the best I've found in Arizona so far. Peanut & Butter and jelly burger was the perfect texture and flavor, they really accomplished the medium cooking preference with a dark outside and slightly pink inside. We also ordered the Arnold Palmer and fresh press orange juice. Everything here is fresh and made with some TLC. And please don't forget to save room for that PIE!

I haven't been here since they opened 21 yrs ago. Too long. But I remembered why it was so good then & now. Late night happy hour. Lil' birdy & mac & cheese. Making every bite count. Host with the most, Broc, was more than happily inviting. Server, whose name I didn't get, was very sweet. I appreciate the 2 cooks behind serving me in their last hour. There were other diners but I felt like I had it to myself, in a good way. I will return for their deviled eggs that I saw a table order, that stood out than your normal mama's eggs.

Welcome Diner sure knows how to do jackfruit right! Such great flavor and texture. Their fries are pretty tasty too. They do have great vegan options. I sat on the patio and it was so nice. Lots of trees and birds.

The Gravy is so good!!!!!! I normally don't like biscuits and gravy but the gravy here is so good. The staff here is super attentive and friendly. The French toast was very good and my husband enjoyed the chicken fried steak. There is indoor and outdoor seating and the restaurant is very clean. Restrooms are unisex, it's not a huge indoor location but they do have ample outside seating. The latte was very good, strong and has a great espresso taste. Definitely come and check them out, you won't be disappointed

i've been here now once for dinner and once for brunch, and both times have been excellent! the space itself is adorable and has soooo much character, truly gives old school diner vibes (w a modern twist). at dinner, i had their peanut butter burger (cooked PERFECTLY) and chocolate bourbon pecan pie (one of the best pies i've ever had). at brunch, i got their welcome breakfast w egg whites, salad, and added andouille sausage. their biscuits are soft and delicious, and pair perfectly with butter and jam, or you can make a little egg sandwich out of them (as i did w one of the halves. my friends got their pancakes and they were soooo fluffy and light. my bestie got their sweet potato hash and said this was one of her favorite breakfast's she's ever had. mimosas are also great, and staff is kind!

We stopped here after flying in from Los Angeles and this was the only place open within walking distance. The staff was unbelievably friendly and cool. The food was probably the best diner food and food period that I've ever had. Forever a go to anytime I'm back in Phoenix!

Fried Green Tomato

A friend brought me here while I was in from out of town. Food was amazing. I got the fried green tomato sandwich and the deviled eggs, which I was so excited to see on a menu. Sat outside in the shade. The service was great!

This place is a real gem. They've got convenient parking in the back, and the front patio seating is super cute, especially in the evening. The service was fantastic, and our waiter was really friendly and gave great suggestions. I tried the Fried Chicken Liver on his recommendation, and it was surprisingly tasty! The fresh orange juice was a perfect complements, and the steak was great as well.

Big Jim

I miss the Tucson location so much that I make it a point to stop by the Phoenix location when I'm in the area. This one is a cozy spot tucked into an old downtown neighborhood. My go-to order is always the Big Jim. The gravy is flavorful, and the chicken is juicy and cooked perfectly every time. My only gripe is it's pricy. $18 for the Big Jim that doesn't even have an egg on it, plus a side salad that's just greens with vinaigrette, doesn't feel like a great value. But it's tasty, and I love the selection of classic southern brunch fare.

The interior is pretty long with a large number of seating inside the building so we had no trouble getting seated right away by the hostess. We decided on food relatively quickly due to previous experience with the business, however, our waiter never came around to take our orders or even give us water at the table. We saw one girl with dyed hair who unassumingly could have been our waiter since she was in our section but only worked with one particular table and ran to the back after each time, but never addressed our table or came by. We eventually had to flag a different waiter down who was able to help us place the order and service us for the rest of our visit, she also informed us that this other "Waiter" was supposed to help us but she wasn't sure why she never made an attempt to do so after having us wait 20 mins and other tables were being serviced. We ordered Flordian French Toast and Elote Breakfast Burrito (plus a couple sides and drink) which were both really good, and filling. Prices weren't too bad for what we ordered and was able to take our mind off of the rather long wait to get helped. Not sure if we'll come back to this particular location again, but it was nice trying the restaurant out another time.

I normally get the sunrise breakfast sandwich and it hits the spot. I love how they toast the bread with butter so it's extra delightful when you bite into the sandwich. They also have fresh squeezed orange juice! The service to me has always been normal- not over the top but also just enough to know you are being taken care of. Perfect when I'm half awake on the weekend. The weekends can get pretty busy but there is a good amount of parking available. One thing to know is there is no table service. You order at the counter and they have a lot of choices so if you have never been there it's hard to decide while other people are waiting behind you. I came with my mom and we were craving pancakes so again didn't get any eggs which is what they are known for and their breakfast pizzas. So I'll come back to try those. We split buttermilk pancakes and a cinnamon roll. They do have real maple syrup but of course they up charge for the good stuff. The pancakes are ok but don't taste like buttermilk pancakes. They looked good but it definitely tasted like a mix and not a good one. They were way overly sweet. They weren't terrible but just not great. 4/10 on the pancake scale. The cinnamon roll also tasted like a store bought premade roll. It was also kind of burnt and didn't taste like anything. The only good thing was the coffee which I was highly skeptical about because it was serve yourself from a carafe. But it was good and strong. Nice views of the mountains and the patio is dog friendly. I want to like this place because it's in my neighborhood so next time I'll try the eggs dishes. Also they have several veggie/vegan selections so I'll come back for those too and to bring my dog.

The staff was friendly throughout our stay, and the overall property has a relaxing atmosphere that makes it easy to enjoy the sunshine and scenery. We booked an upgraded suite with a separate bedroom and TV room, which gave us plenty of space to spread out. While the layout was great, the room itself could use some updates. The bathroom fixtures were older--the Kohler toilet didn't flush well and was a bit noisy, and the tub/shower combo had rounded sides that made it tricky to stand comfortably. The shower water also never got fully hot. The room had a slightly musty smell, and the carpets would benefit from a deep cleaning. The balcony screen door didn't close tightly, which let a few flies in, and access to the second floor required two sets of stairs since there's no elevator in that section. Even with those issues, the resort's location, views, and overall vibe made the stay enjoyable. With some room refreshes and a bit more maintenance attention, this could easily be a standout property. The setting alone is worth experiencing.

I was looking for a good staycation while also earning American Airlines AAdvantage miles and…read moreloyalty points to maintain my status for another year. I found a great AAdvantage Hotel deal at the Hilton Phoenix Tapatio Cliffs Resort and booked it. While it was a great success of a visit in terms of AAdvantage miles and loyalty points, my actual experience at the hotel itself was less to be desired due to the customer service and a big snafu on their part. I also have Hilton Gold status, though as I booked the hotel through a third party site (AAdvantage Hotels), I could see the stay and the stay history in my Hilton app, but I did not receive any benefits for staying there, which was fine as I didn't expect any anyone. I arrived in person to check in and already reserved and prepaid for a King 1 Bedroom Standard Suite, which had a nice view and reasonably spacious room (but not too much larger than a regular room at another hotel). The room was certainly not upgraded though there was parking available right in front of the entrance. I did not receive anything else at check-in nor did it appear that I'd get my regularly complimentary water. I did pay the daily resort charge which includes high speed internet access, access to the Falls Water Village, an hour at the tennis/pickleball court, an hour at the afternoon golf practice facility, two hours for a mountain bike rental, 20% off seasonal spa services, and 15% off select golf apparel. While I didn't use it, I had easy view and access to the Falls Water Village where you could lounge and play all day on their sun-marked terrace where you could find free-form pools, hot tubs, and cabanas. They even have a 138-foot enclosed water slide. When I checked out, I was told that a bill would be sent to me shortly since I did it on the app early, and when I received the bill, there was a charge for my room at the restaurant at the top of the hill called A Different Point of View. The catch is that I never went to eat there during my stay (or at any onsite restaurant since I live in the area and had my meals offsite). I reached out to the hotel who insisted that I did go there to eat. I promised them I didn't eat anywhere onsite and that they need to look at the receipt and see if it actually has my room number. They confirmed it did and that this meant I ate there. I told them to find my name on it and let me know if it was on there. After several more back and forth conversations, they confirmed it wasn't me and would remove the charge. They then mistakenly charged me double. Then they removed one charge, but it took more than a week before they removed the other charge. By the end of the exchanges, it felt like they were blaming me for their own mistake. While the resort is aged and rather pleasant, there certainly are training issues regarding the customer service offered at this property. I do not plan on staying here again in the future.
