Jake's Waybacks Burger has been around and I have eaten there in the past however, there is new management and not only is the food quality but the service was superb. The staff is so friendly and were accommodating to my grand-daughter who is special needs. I give this place 6 stars the food in the pictures do not do it justice. I was practically hungry ordered two chicken sandwiches the 1st one was delicious the 2nd one & two bites, I almost puked because of a tiny dead fly on my lettuce. We have decided to have lunch here after visiting Woodbury Commons. It was the best decision of the day. First, I cannot even refer to this place as fast food. Our food was made fresh to order. French fries and onion rings were extra crispy and hot, Rodeo burger that my husband ordered looked amazing. Hubby said it was the least greasy burger he's had (compared to Five Guys or Shake Shack). I ordered a WB Fish sandwich and the cod in it was a perfect combo of crispy on the outside and tender and flaky on the inside. Second, were the shakes! Rich and creamy, so delicious that we have tried three flavors, Black and White, Chocolate and Cafe Mocha. The only way to make those taste better would be to add liquor. Third, the staff really made this place come alive! From the people at the front line, who were courteous and friendly, to the new owner who took time out of his busy day to say hello and ask our opinion on the food. We drive up north several times a year. It was this month we found this place. We needed a quick lunch to go. Most of places by highways are junk, but this place is better than I expected. Their "classic" has double burger in it and that's what I had. The ingredient was fresh and sauce was good. My husband was driving, so he didn't want to have double burger which could be messy to eat while driving. He ordered two singles instead. You have to customize to get single burgers. Many choices of sauce. He liked his burgers. I felt wait time was little long , but I was able to see two workers were working hard making burgers. The lady who were making burger was greeting customers very nicely. I liked that. They have many kinds of milk shakes. I want to try next time. Ordered a large order for work at 2 pm, when we received the order we were missing 2 orders of fries that we were charged for. We called and told them we were missing them, and they were extremely rude on the phone and accused us of lying. Then, at 7 the manager walks into our business (without the fries) and starts sternly telling the cashier that we have a problem because he "personally" watched the cameras and saw someone put the fries in the bag. SURPRISINGLY GOOD! Better than shake-shack, five guys or any other burger/sandwich take out I have been to. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich with mac n cheese bites and a lemonade. The chicken was real, fresh and crunchy and coated in a generous amount of buffalo sauce and blue cheese. The mac and cheese bites were also crispy and fresh, and the lemonade was sour and refreshing. I wouldn't say there is a lot of curb appeal from the road but inside is newly renovated, clean and a ton of seats near windows if you want to stay and eat. I am very happy that I decided to visit family in New York because we got to stop in and try out this new place. Prior to this visit, I had never heard of this burger chain but now I'm hoping they continue to grow. The burgers here were very delicious, even though they are cooked well, they still retain great taste. I went with the "cheesy" burger and it certainly lived up to the name. I was a little disappointed that they forgot a few toppings I had requested, however they are brand new so I let it slide. The fries here are decent, certainly not the best. Five guys still has way better fries. Another thing to note is that this place was certainly affordable. The prices were beyond reasonable and portions generous. In total, the burgers definitely outshined five guys and I hope that the chain comes down to Bergen county, I would definitely frequent it. read more

Be wary of using online ordering as they may or may not check it. A little annoyed that I ordered online, was billed and came to pick up order and told their system is not receiving online orders, only to have cashier look at screen and say, "oh, here it is". They just didn't check for online orders. Was told they'd have food ready in 12 minutes. They've exceeded that deadline and it's n 50 minutes after I placed my online order I still don't have my food. I'm a repeat customer but this place is always short-staffed. I like the food, but there seems to be an issue every time I come in. UPDATE: I am amending my review as the restaurant owner has gone above and beyond to make amends for the error since my Yelp Review. I have dined twice at Jakes since I posted this review, the service has always been great and the food excellent. The burgers are cooked to order and way better than fast food. I chose the create your own which allows any topping for no additional charge like Five Guys does. 1 order of fries fed my small family of 3.
