We've been here at least a dozen times. I don't know why I haven't given them the credit they deserve yet We stopped again today for lunch. As always the service is beyond friendly and patient!! This restaurant is always very clean and everything is well stocked. I never have to go looking for napkins, straws, condiments,etc I got my usual, a bacon cheeseburger with ketchup, mustard and pickles... As always, my burger was perfect!! Hubby and I always share a "little fry" because it's a very generous portion. I love these fries, the perfect accompaniment to our delicious burgers!! This place is an absolute joke. Placed an online order, took me 20 minutes to drive there and my order wasn't ready (no big deal) let them know at the counter and they called it out to the cooks. The lady up front made my milkshakes (only nice person that worked there btw) sat there and waited another 15 minutes with my buddy and still no one informed me that my order wasn't ready. Mind you I didn't get anything crazy just two burgers and a large Cajun fries. I finally went up to the guy at the end asked him how much longer for my order and he gave me a nasty attitude and I told him what the name was and he told me the order had been sitting there the whole time and proceeded to slam the bag on the counter. Although quite familiar with 5 guys in various locations nationwide, I and a friend opted to this one as we were road weary and hungry. I decided to try their veggie sandwich since they didn't have a per se veggie burger, such as an impossible burger. I was delightfully surprised with this sandwich. "Holy Over Rated Batman!" I think the craze for Five Guys has died down so all the posters in the store that say "Best Burger 1960" can come down. Haha! I've only been to this franchise literally a handful of times and I've always remembered the burgers being very tasty but grossly over greasy. In this instance I found the burger to be really good with a surprisingly small amount of grease oozing from the burger. On the other hand it was the fries that were soaked with grease when you grabbed them; barf! Needless to say I tossed at least half of the large fries I ordered because it was just grease fries that weren't very tasty. Next time I visit I'll likely just order a burger and skip the fries! This place does have A LOT of seating so if you come with a small group it'll accommodate. read more

I just recently started coming here and I am totally obsessed with their farm fresh cut fries. Nothing beats fresh hot, crispy, crunchy, slightly salted french fries served in a brown paper bag. Their burgers aren't that bad :-). I normally get their double cheeseburger with extra mushrooms. I find that I only take a few bites of my burger and always finish the fries first and take the rest of my burger to go. It doesn't help that I nosh on their free peanuts while waiting for my order. They offer Coca-Cola products which is an extra bonus. Their shakes look great and I really want to order one but I am always so full by the time I finish my food. I just had a meal from 5 Guys on Rt 211 in Middletown and was happy as usual. For those of you who have never been there here is what to expect. It is a basic menu of burgers and fries, however each burger is made to order. The buns are always..and I mean always fresh. The fries are to die for. However, because they are also made so fresh and without any preservatives, they will get soggy if you leave them in the to-go bag for too long. I remedied this by throwing them in a toaster oven for 3 minutes at 400 to crisp them back up. This rarely happens, but at least you will have a game plan in case it happens to you. Now for drinks. They have one of those soda vending machines where you can choose whatever type of soda you want which is nice. They also sell milkshakes. They are thick too. I am talking about thickness where it makes you use the muscles on the back of your neck to extract the thick chocolatey goodness. They also have other flavors and you can mix together also. My favorite it the chocolate and salted caramel. Warning though!!!!!! If you are allergic to peanuts..do not enter this establishment. They offer to their patrons free peanuts which is kind of awesome..who doesn't enjoy a nice roasted peanut. But they are still in the shell, so there is always shells on the ground and I am sure peanut dust particles in the air. There prices are kind of high. For a double cheeseburger, fries and a drink you are looking at about a $25 bill. Totally worth it though. read more

I've never had a disappointing experience at a Five Guys before, but this location was awful. At most Five Guys you get a nice offering of fries and condiments, but not overly generous that it's a waste. At this location, they were stingy with everything. I barely got 3 little pieces of grilled onions and mushrooms on my burger. I asked for ketchup and couldn't taste it. I checked and notice there were 2 extremely tiny dots on the bun. Don't get me started on the fries...we got the exact amount allotted to fit in the cup. Nothing more, nothing less. No extra fries dumped into the bag that you would normally get and what Five Guys is famous for with their generous portion of fries. It was just a sad experience. I only gave it 2 stars because the cashier was nice and they did not mess up my mom and sister's order. read more

I and a friend decided to try Five Guys Burgers because of its reputation. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, regular sized fries and regular sized Diet Coke. Orders came out in a timely manner and workers were friendly. Food was a little pricey. Burger was cooked well and was flavorful, the pickles and tomatoes were fresh, and the bacon complimented the meat without overpowering the taste of it. For the price, however, they should have used actual cheese and not the processed cheese slices. The construction of the burger was unfortunate. When putting condiments on it, it should be put on the top of the burger where the thickness of the bun can absorb moisture and prevent the bun from tearing. The quality of the bun was obvious when the mayo and mustard didn't soak through the bottom of the bun. The fries were cooked in peanut oil without being hard or crunchy and the regular sized fries quantity could easily make McDonald's "supersized" fries look small. One concern: peanut allergies have become almost commonplace and someone with such sensitivities may not be aware and put their health at risk. There were free refills on the soda. The lobby/sitting areas were clean and no food or soda spills on the floors. When using the men's room, floor was obviously cleaned regularly, soap and toilet paper were stocked. One downside is the air hand dryer. As a retired home health care worker, I'm aware that while a hand dryer is efficient and environmentally friendly, most people are unaware that it can actually promote bacterial growth. A little nitpicking as I worked for twenty seven years in the field. Overall a good experience. I give it four out of five stars because of quality and quantity of food. When in Middletown, NY again I do believe I will return. I still wish there was one in Monticello, NY because of distance. read more

#37 They sell one of the best burger I had taste in my life but It's pretty pricey but totally worth it. The people that work here are so nice and so efficient, friendly and servant. I order the Bacon Cheeseburger; the burger was amazing, I got some onions, grilled onions, green peppers, cheese, bacon, mushrooms, all with a1 sauce. All was moist and juicy and perfectly cooked. This place is currently my favorite burger place. The bacon cheeseburger is my go to burger with all the toppings. It's burger with two patties and a generous amount of bacon and cheese. You get to choose your own toppings which is great. I usually just go all the way with everything. You'll end up with a delicious and juicy burger. The Cajun fries here are also a must get for me. I love the season. Also it's fried with peanut oil which gives it a good flavor. The soda here is self served with a bunch of different flavors. It's one of those with a touch screen where they have a bunch of rare soda flavors like peach Fanta! The prices here are a bit high for a burger joint though. It can easily be over $15 for a meal with burger, fries and a soda. But I my opinion it's worth it! McDonald's can't compare read more

I like a good cheeseburger. Ya know? Hot, messy, a little on the greasy side. Lots of toppings. Maybe some fries and a coke. This place has excellent cheeseburgers. If Yelp would allow the use of expletives in reviews, I would use one for emphasis here. Good bun, big pattie, tons of very fresh toppings. The french fries are phenomenal as well. Not the usual vehicle for catsup. Damn fine fries. Coke machine is one of those serve yourself 5 million combinations of soda. Ok. I'm in. Free refills. While you are waiting: free peanuts in the shell. REALLY good peanuts in the shell. Little paper trays. Take all you want. The guy behind the take out counter asked me if I wanted a paper bag to take some peanuts to go. Seriously? Yes, sir. Nota bene: the employees are EXCEEDINGLY helpful and polite. We are sorry to do this but Five Guys gets a Should Not Eat from us. We were overall just disappointed by our meal. The Five Guys hype machine is on over drive claiming to have the best burger and best fries all around the country but we disagree whole heartedly. The burgers are your classic fast food burgers grease included, but for double or triple the price. There was nothing special about the burger, except the ability to choose all of your toppings which were very fresh. The hot dog was tasty and if we were to go back to Five Guys for anything it would be for the Hot Dog. The fries were mediocre, not the best we have ever had but not the worst. They do however give you a ton of fries which is a nice touch for the price. Five Guys in our opinion is a glorified fast food joint without a drive thru. 5 stars for a chain restaurant? Yes this is the only exception. I am a big fan of 5 Guys in general. The burgers are good, fresh cut fries are so much better than frozen fries from a chain restaurant The reason for 5 stars is the customer service at the Middletown location. A customer accidentally (or maybe intentionally) took my bag of food when I didn't hear my # called. I didn't make a big deal of it, I wasn't in a hurry and I laughed it off. The manager behind the counter made a big deal of it. Repeatedly apologized and gave me a gift card for my next visit. Then on the way out, I asked the man behind the register about the music playing. We then had a long conversation about classic rock. Just a great experience read more
