Wayback Burgers is a national chain, but our visit to the Monroe location was the first time we had heard of them (and then we subsequently found out they also have a NYC location, which was a nice discovery). Staff here were very friendly and great about answering our menu questions. They offer burgers, chicken, lots of sides, and shakes, everything you'd expect from a burger joint. We got some burgers, chicken tenders, sides, and a shake to sample as much as we could. My favorites were the cheese curds and the onion rings, and the burgers were good too. I didn't like the chicken as much as the burgers, so I'll probably stick to the burgers in the future, especially since I love how you can make lots of customizations to the burgers to get exactly what you want. So glad we came here for our introduction to this chain!

This place has some good damn burgers, no lie. I seen this place in the cut while getting ice cream and always wanted to try it out. The burgers are fresh off the grill, seasoned well and tasted amazing. My son wanted a chicken sandwich from McDonald's and convinced himself to get a burger and fell in love. Dude was trying to be a fat ass and go back that night... that's a statement considering he only eats like 10 things period. This a legit a spot, try it out!

Went to Wayback burger for the first time and I was not disappointed. The food was good, we all got burgers with different sides. If I remember correctly it was a spicy melt with bacon, steakhouse, and Cajun. My sister and I love fried cheese curds so when we saw it on the menu we had to get it. And it didnt disappoint. I'm not a big fan of tater tot's but I must say theirs was pretty good. The service was good, they were attentive to our needs bd served the food when it was ready. The ambiance had a country vibe but was clean and spacious. Overall I would recommend and go again.

One of the originals. Easy kiosk or counter order. Sit and wait for your order at tables. Quality burgers, great shakes. Place is off the beaten path but so worth it.

The burgers are fire. Every menu item is beyond worth it and cooked fresh in front of you. The price is reasonable and it's always a great stop for a quick bite.

Cruising down the freeway today I have cheeseburger on my mind for lunch and need something good. Different if possible.... A quick search brings up Wayback Burgers. I'm so there! Lots of cars in the lot, a good sign. Inside is an easy menu of just enough items for good variation. I ordered the Cheesey(double cheeseburger). Meat, cheese, meat, cheese on a grilled bread. Absolutely great!! The Cod sandwich next with pickles. You know how by the time they bread the fish and it's on a roll it's gooey or just too much bread taste. Not this one! It was awesome!! Really it could not have been better! The firey fries and onion rings were the perfect sides..... though my counter person(I think that's the politically correct term) brought a side of their deep fried Mac and cheese over to try..... uh boy... this is going to be a problem!! They were SOOO good!! I left with a little leftover and again the awesome staff was there with a bag for my takeout before I could even ask! That said I don't think I've been to a restaurant, even Morton's Steakhouse lately, that the staff was so perceptive, helpful and genuinely NICE! Smiles everywhere. Staff, customers and me! I assure you every time I pass here I'll be stopping in. No joke. It will be part of my drive! Thank you Wayback for an awesome experience!!

Found this place while traveling to Pennsylvania what a great find. All their food is freshly made. Their burgers are juicy and pack a lot of flavor. The onion rings were crispy and delicious. If your thirsty try their Aguas Fresca's they are amazing a great alternative to soda and juice I couldn't drink enough.

A Ripper: otherwise known as a "Deep-Fried Hotdog". Three plain and simple words, but when…read morecombined, they are nearly pornographic. At least they are for me. Rutt's Hut has been on my punch list for a long time. Actually NJ fried Hot Dogs have been both from Rutt's and from Hiram's over in Ft. Lee. I got to Hiram's and today was my luck day to get a shot at a Ripper. Rutt's is a bit off the beaten path and is down a meandering pothole filled road in a very industrial feeling part of town surrounded by wooded areas. It seems like it would be a better place for a serial killer body dump than a Hot Dog vendor but it's been there since 1928 so it must be doing something right. There is a large, private, and free parking lot which is a huge bonus in my playbook. The building looks like it is in disrepair. There are 2 areas to eat here. A door to the left seems to be a pub/bar with sit down service and then there is the right side that I went to which is a stand up, indoor counter where you can get in and out very quickly. This is a cash only spot so come prepared. Get to an open counter worker, give them your order, and pay when they hand over the goods. I was a little intimidated when I walked in because it was clear that everyone else in the place understood the ordering routine and knew the menu (there are quite a few other items you could order other than Rippers). I stood in a corner like a potted plant for about 10 minutes and watched what others did when they walked in before I figured out the process. It's pretty simple but I did not want to screw up Rutt's world order by doing something stupid. The 3 Rippers I ordered were good (but not best in class for me). The one I liked the most was the chili cheese dressed Ripper because the chili was actually quite tasty. On the counter are large containers of brown mustard and almost-fluorescent yellow relish. People seem to love the stuff. It was a bit like sweetened sauerkraut for me and the color of it makes me think it is either radioactive or seasoned with antifreeze. I would be happy going here again but I can't say that my Rippers were anything special. I might ask for them to be a little overdone next time to add a bit of texture. What I did like about Rutt's was the history, the dilapidated building, the simplicity of the menu, the naming of their dogs as "Rippers", and the fact that it felt like I was eating among real NJ natives that knew exactly what they were there for. Experiencing local culture doesn't get much better than that.
