Wawa Newtown Square PA - Storefront
    L L.

This is "my Wawa" as in the closest to me. Always helpful and friendly. They are very busy during the day, and have a trickle of graveyard-shift activity, no nocturnal flow like other hot-spot Wawas. But never fear, the police are always stopping throughout the night. Accessing this location is a little tricky if you are unfamiliar. You are unable to turn into them if headed N on 252, only if you are headed S. Headed N, you need to pass it, make a R (no U-turn) at the very next light, onto Winding way, then L at that next light, onto Clyde Ln., and up to the back of the store. Parking surrounds this Wawa, so there should be spaces (the old one had lot overflow during the day). Only negative is I have had to call them for various random reasons, and the person answering the phone at night never seems to be able to understand my English (it is not her first language), so it is not clear why she is answering the phone? Always, I get passed to another employee who is then really helpful, but why not just have the others answer the phone?

I ordered the Satchmo, a buffalo chicken, Italian hoagie, ham hoagie, 4 chicken tenders and fries which came to a grand total of $85. Phew. This was my first time here, but I've heard the food and cheese steaks were great so I was ok with things at this point. I placed my order for pickup and was told it would be 20 minutes. I came in around the 20ish minute mark and waited for 25 more minutes. There was only 1 other person waiting with me. I did see 3-4 other people come in pickup and leave while I waited, but it wasn't busy by standards. While waiting is when I when I observed how unorganized and dis shoveled the staff were. The lady upfront was kind, attentive, and seemed to be running the show putting orders together. But, when she asked for help she didn't get any. She asked another staff member to help bag a specific sandwich for an order, several times, and it went in the guys ear and right out the other. I could also hear them scrambling in the back working on my order, and complaining about how many Italian hoagie orders came in right at the same time. Maybe they were behind, maybe they accidentally let mine go with a different order? This is all speculation but they were definitely overwhelmed and it shouldn't have taken that long for my order. The cheese steaks were good, and the Italian hoagie was very hearty! They do not skimp on meat, but the hoagie bread was so hard most of it was thrown away. I don't care for shredded gums. Overall, not a good first time experience. Minus a star for the price, minus a star for the delayed pickup time, and minus 1/2 for the rock hard Italian hoagie bread. The steaks were good but everything else outweighed the food quality.

They are right off of route 3 and have a nice private parking lot. Decor is basic, no thrills but cozy and homey. They are open for breakfast lunch and dinner, I've had everything but the dinner. Breakfast foods are good diner quality. My eggs are always a perfect over easy and my toast nicely toasted. I've had the cheesesteak for lunch, it's your average pizza place cheesesteak and does the job if that's what you are looking for. Oddly have not had the pizza but I'll have to try that one of these days. Service is friendly and efficient, but it's rarely crowded when we are there so I'd expect that. The crowd when I've been there seems to be the same regulars. Retired folks looking for something good to eat, hot coffee, and time to chat with friends without being rushed.

I've eaten breakfast, lunch & dinner at Joe's and leave satisfied every time. Very friendly personnel also add to the enjoyment. I have to add that my personal favorite is the Michaelangelo panini (for my money the best panini around). Instead of a roll, this sandwich is made with Texas-toast type bread and cooked in butter YUMMY. If you haven't been there, GO!
