Dropped into Wally's for an impromptu late lunch on Sunday and found the place rockin'. Clearly, we were not the only ones with this idea, and with good reason: Wally's is an upscale and adult restaurant that's also casual and unpretentious. The staff is well-dressed, well-trained, and genuinely friendly; the host on duty, Bella, tended to us during our short wait, keeping us engaged and getting us seated just as soon as she could. The decor blends spartan industrial chic with dark wood accents that tempter what might be a cold environment, making it inviting and comfortable. Our server, Diego, got right to us, answered menu questions with good humor, and convinced the chef to make my wife a dinner-time dish when he discovered her first selection had run out. Bread service (on request) was artisan sourdough, hot from the oven, served with rich butter and a tiny mound of salt. Simple and very tasty. My wife's Cacio e Pepe was, by her estimation, the very best she's ever had. The al dente pasta was coated in a sharp Parmesan that was keenly offset by the sweetness of a Tomato Jam served on the side. A very well-balanced and satisfying bite. For my own part, the Quiche Lorraine was buttery and rich, and brimming with bacon and cheese. The lightly dressed salad alongside was a perfect foil, cutting the sharpness nicely. I must also mention that the folks next to us had a table full of yummy-looking, yummy-smelling food, from a cheese and charcuterie board to pizza, an omelet and beautifully prepared veggies. I was here 10:30 on a Friday and they took me right away I sat on the patio on a nice night in April. My witness is literally the MOST ACCOMMODATING. On the hunt for the best glass of wine to pair with my meal she brought me 7 tasting before I found the perfect fit. If this doesn't scream amazing I don't know what does. I've been to Wally's quite a few times over the years and have always been a fan. The cocktails are consistently solid, and the sandwiches have always been a go-to for me. It had been a while since my last visit, so I stopped by recently for a light late lunch. I ordered the Caesar salad with salmon added, and we also got a Caesar with steak on the side. I'll start with the positives -- the steak was honestly cooked perfectly. My friend ordered it medium (I usually go medium rare), and it was still super juicy, tender, and really well done. I also had a gin martini with blue cheese olives, and that was exactly what I wanted -- clean, cold, and the olives were fresh and flavorful. We sat outside, which was a nice touch with a good breeze and a lively Beverly Hills street scene. As for the food, the Caesar itself was good flavor-wise. I really loved the addition of fresh anchovies and the roasted zucchini -- that added a nice depth and made it feel a bit more elevated than a standard Caesar. The Parmesan crisps on top were also great, but they did end up covering most of the salad. That said, the portion felt surprisingly small. Once you got past the toppings -- the Parmesan, anchovies, and larger croutons -- it felt like there wasn't much actual lettuce underneath. For a ~$25 salad, it leaned more toward a side portion than a full entrée, which both of us noticed. The salmon, while cooked well and not dry, was pretty under-seasoned. It didn't have much flavor on its own and needed salt and pepper to bring it to life. Considering the price point (around $25+ as an add-on), I expected a bit more seasoning or intention there. We also shared the Iberico chorizo plate, which was a highlight. It came with sweet peppers, whole grain mustard, dried fruits, and bread -- everything paired really nicely and felt well thought out. Service was decent. Didn't feel friendly but wasn't the worst. Wasn't too concerned with that yesterday. Overall, I still really enjoy Wally's and will definitely be back. The ambiance, drinks, and overall experience are always strong. I just wouldn't order the Caesar as a full meal again if I'm actually hungry. We celebrated Mother's Day at Wally's yesterday. Each mom was treated to a glass of wonderful champagne and wished a Happy Mother's Day by numerous staff members. Reservations were honored in a timely manner even though the restaurant was packed. There were six of us and we sat at a high top table which I prefer because the chairs actually have backs. Service was outstanding and the food was fantastic as always. Two of us had the Caprese Sandwich with heirloom tomato, dijon-sun dried tomato pesto, arugula, basil, buffalo mozzarella, and chicken on ciabatta. Two of us had my favorite-Grilled Cheese with aged gruyere, gouda, shallot chutney, with bacon added on country bread. This is my favorite sandwich-anywhere! We also had a Truffle Eggs Benedict, and a Charcuterie Board with two cheeses and duck mousse. and an order of Truffle Fries with grated parmesan, truffle oil, and grated truffle. Wallys is one of those Places that you just can't go wrong at. I have not been to the Wallys in Santa Monica, but I'd like to try it. When you're conflicted as to what you like to eat the bartenders or your servers always have the best suggestions. I have never been steered wrong. The vibe feels kind of transactional with lots of influencers, sugar-daddy energy, and people dressed to impress. It can come off pretentious, but honestly... it's still fun to go for drinks and small appetizers or to catch up with girlfriends. That said, the food is good and I've had a good time when I've gone. It's not somewhere I'd go for a chill dinner. Pubic Parking structure is right to the restaurant can easily be missed but plenty of parking. We decided to have our company's holiday lunch and white elephant party at Wally's this year and just based on the appearance, the place looked pretty cool. I walked in and asked the hostess for my party and she said to go all the way to the end and turn right at the Christmas reef. The place is covered with wines all over the walls, a bar towards the entrance and these high tables set up in different sections of the restaurant. It looks very nice and the place was spotless. I end up in a hallway and ask another employee where my party was and he directs me to a room behind sliding doors. I slide open the doors and there's this gorgeous room decorated with wine bottles on the walls, white decorations and big candles on the tables. Our party ordered drinks and the menu was a prefixed 3-course meal that consisted of: Purple and blue salad - 2/5 It had too much vinegar in the salad Truffle Pizzetta - 5/5 This was the hit! Everyone liked it. This went fast. New York Strip 2/5 The steak was a little cold and rare. I didn't complain because some people liked their steak that way. Chicken Paillard - 2/5 This was ok. It was very soft but tasted like first class airplane food. Twice Fried Smashed Fingerling Potatoes - 5/5 This was so good! It came with house made ketchup that they made with cinnamon. Delicious! Toasted Vanilla Creme Brûlée 4/5 This was my favorite dessert. I love crème brûlée and they didn't disappoint here. Very good! Food was delicious but unfortunately my friends and I had a very unpleasant experience. To start, we waited a long time to place our order despite the restaurant not being very busy. In addition, when one of my friends briefly opened her laptop for a work emergency, we were approached and told about a "no screen" policy. We tried to be understanding, though it was confusing to see children at other tables still using iPads. Lastly, as we were finishing our meal, one of the staff members cleared our plates even though we were not done eating. When we addressed it, he did not apologize and instead said he was "going to change the plate," even though we had no additional food coming. Overall, the experience felt dismissive and uncomfortable for us. Not only did we feel rushed, we felt disrespected. Wally's is a huge space with its wine market and various tables along massive walls of wine. Excellent service and while they only have salads and some entrees for those gluten intolerant, I chose the CHICKEN SALAD DE LA MANCHA - escarole, chorizo, quince paste, piquillos, almond, olive, toasted-garlic + burnt-lemon dressing, manchego. Totally delicious from first bite to last. Coupled with a great glass of wine this was ample and tasty. Two friends brought me here for my birthday and we were meeting a group of other people there almost like a meetup. When I walked in we told the hostess we were looking for the party of people. She says they at a table at the bar and went back to looking down at whatever was holding her attention. He had recommendations of what was good on the menu and his personal favorites. I like Wally's. I go there when I'm in Beverly Hills, but I don't go to Beverly Hills that often. It's usually maybe twice a year when the sales are on at Saks or Neiman, or if a friend is in town or if I have a date. My favorite things here are the truffle fries and the purple and blue salad. Sometimes I'll add something else into the mix like a charcuterie board or a steak, but these two staples have held up the test of time. It might have been a decade since I first came here. One thing I noticed though is that when you get the truffle fries, sometimes you get white truffle. Other times, you get black truffle. I think I asked about this once and it's due to seasonality. If I recall correctly, the spring and summer bring the white truffles, whereas the fall and winter bring the black truffles. There aren't that many places in LA that have fries that taste better than McDonald's, to be quite frank... I mean that has to be the case because that bougie place that doesn't let you take pictures in a dark room across the street from Laurel Hardware made their fry recipe to taste exactly like McDonald's fries... I forgot the name of it. Anyway, these fries are the best, hands down, that you will find in LA (and well worth the $24 price tag it comes with). You get a great crisp to them, the perfect texture, the right amount of seasoning, plus truffles are shaved on top of them and their taste leaves a lasting impression. I like the purple and blue salad too because you get really good fruit and pistachios in them. The best pistachios I ever had were at the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul and these pistachios are of the same quality, nothing like the ones you find from Pom Wonderful at the grocery store. There's just so much flavor in the blueberries and everything else as well. Another great thing about this place is that since it has a massive wine area, you can pick up anything you really want to bring, like a Tattinger or Veuve Clicquot Champagne, or something from their extensive wine list that has more pages than I've ever seen. While I haven't perused the wine list extensively, I would assume you could easily locate a bottle of Vega Sicilia on the menu, however I only really look at the champagne section. Their mixologists behind the bar are great too for those espresso martini lovers. One thing that's different now than before is the presentation of the salad. They put it on a plate instead of a bowl. It tastes the same but just looks different. Maybe it was affected by shrinkflation, maybe not. I can't tell because I've never actually finished a salad by myself. Oh and I'm not typically a fan of ketchup, but this one is great. You get a tangy flavor that you don't find with other ketchups. Anyway, this is what I ate yesterday and I'm still thinking about those fries tonight. That's how much of an impact these fries will make on you. read more

I didn't look at the wine list but asked for a full bodied red which he delivered on. The cab was excellent and came in a nice glass. Others at the table tried a mix of white wines and cocktails, each coming in a unique glass. For apps, we got truffle fries, carrot hummus, a charcuterie board, and a couple flatbreads. The truffle fries actually had pieces of truffle flaked on top. I wasn't a fan of the carrot hummus, found it too sweet for my liking which made sense since carrots were the base. I wanted to like Wally's more but was let down in ways that matter. Had a 12:30p reservation for Sunday girls brunch and were seated immediately upon arrival; the restaurant was pretty empty so reservation or not, would have made no difference. I asked the server if they had coffee/tea options and he proceeded to respond with a cold and dry "no". Bummed they didn't have coffee despite seeing the espresso machine behind the bar but oh well. Ordered the lox and poached egg on a croissant ($26) which was tasty! The runny eggs with salmon lox paired well on the toasted croissant. I was a bit appalled that my friends lychee martini was $26; couldn't have been more than 6-8oz for $26!? Two words: Beverly Hills. Our server was unfriendly and seemed arrogant. We must have gotten the bad pick of the bunch cause the other servers seemed nice. Not sure if this is a restaurant problem or general Los Angeles problem but the lack of parking makes for an inconvenient experience. I suppose their way of making up for this is by offering valet. Their wine and spirits selection is endless and so much fun to explore! The private dining room's walls are lined with signed bottles, making it a unique and memorable setting. I'm normally not a truffle fan, but Wally's changed that for me. My favorites from the night: - Brie Baguette: the truffle butter and truffle honey blended perfectly. - Truffle Pasta: perfectly rich and creamy. - Wagyu Filet: cooked perfectly. I stopped in for the retail shop so this review doesn't cover the restaurant. Wally's is a pretty great shop in terms of selection. They have broad coverage of a number of countries/regions, and also price points. I found the staff incredibly knowledgeable and helpful as well as the organization of the wines wasn't super intuitive and there were no signs indicating what a particular area would have. I picked up a few bottles to enjoy during our stay and had a good chat with the staff as well. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and the location was super convenient to our hotel. We come to Wally's every year around Christmas. Same group. Same table. Same unspoken agreement that whatever happens inside stays there. It is tradition. It is ritual. Interesting "communal" dining spot where you might be sharing a long rectangular table with other. My party of 3 was seated at an end of a table on a not so busy night. Service, drinks and food was outstanding. I had some of the best salmon ever. read more

I've been coming to Wally's Beverly Hills for years and, over that time, have spent tens of thousands of dollars at this location. I grew up in Beverly Hills, live locally, work in Century City, and have brought friends, colleagues, and clients here countless times. Because of that history, what happened on Saturday, December 13 was especially disappointing. I arrived around 8:45 PM with one guest. We got water at the bar and stood in a single spot for approximately 20-30 minutes. We remained together the entire time. There were no issues, no warnings, no complaints, and no interaction from staff or security suggesting any problem whatsoever. During this earlier visit, the same security guard later involved made similar accusations toward two other guests nearby and then thanked me for my patience regarding the disturbance he had caused. At the time, it seemed odd but irrelevant--until later. After briefly checking another nearby spot, we returned around 10:30 PM with the intention of dining. At that point, security refused to let me back in and accused me of being "rough with guests" and "bumping into people." This allegation was completely false. No one could point to a specific incident, provide a description, or explain what supposedly occurred. Nothing had been raised during my earlier visit, despite having been in full view of staff and security. I asked to speak with a manager, assuming someone would take a moment to assess the situation. Instead, I was told the manager would not override security, despite the absence of any identified misconduct or evidence. There was no effort to investigate, clarify, or even listen. The decision felt arbitrary and dismissive. For a restaurant that positions itself as upscale and professional, this was shockingly poor judgment and customer service. Being treated this way--particularly as a long-time, local patron--was both frustrating and disappointing. I will not be bringing clients here again, and I will not recommend Wally's to anyone in my professional or personal circle. In a city full of exceptional restaurants, there is no excuse for handling loyal customers in this manner. This experience permanently changed my view of Wally's Beverly Hills, and not for the better. read more

I truly enjoy Wally's. The food is fantastic, the ambiance is amazing and the drinks are out of this world. I get the best dirty Martini at Wally's. Of course the service is excellent too. But, it is very expensive. I understand the location, the atmosphere etc. That said, I will go there again but not for a while. read more

We went to Wally's in Beverly Hills tonight to celebrate a friend's birthday, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. We ordered fish, steak, and vegetables. When the steak arrived, there was a long white hair in it. The fish was undercooked, and the vegetables were so salty they were almost inedible. To make matters worse, the food took about 45 minutes to arrive. When I brought these issues to the waitress and asked to speak with a manager, the response felt dismissive. By the time the food was taken back and returned, we had already lost our appetite. Despite explaining that there was hair in the steak and that the fish was undercooked, nothing was removed from the bill. The interaction with the manager was particularly disappointing -- it felt as though he was implying the issue with the hair was somehow our fault, which was frankly insulting. We've been regular customers and expected the situation to be handled much more professionally. What was supposed to be a special birthday celebration turned into a very unpleasant experience. We sat at the bar and had the best time! The bartenders took great care of us!! We got the pump it up cocktail and the grapefruit was so refreshing!! We started off with truffle fries and every single one of the fries had a great truffle flavor it didn't go away towards the bottom which was wonderful! We were in a truffle mood and also ordered the truffle pizza and it was perfect for 2 people to share and it was delicious!! It was busy especially for a Monday- the vibes were great! read more
