Then it was 20 minutes as she accessed the computer, then because she could not find paperwork(?), and could not access the printer it took another 30 minutes. But they did have time to congregate and laugh and talk amongst themselves. When another person, also waiting for a vaccine, asked what the problem was, she said it was due to the fact the pharmacy is open 24 hours a day! . . . . and he did not even venture to ask how that affected service between 11am and 1pm! I should have read the other reviews first before booking an online appointment for a vaccine at this location. Showed up 15 minutes early to check in and waited over 45 minutes in line to check in. Then waited another 30 minutes before they were ready. Worst part was the pharmacy employees were just standing around and working incredibly slowly. I've been to other locations that run late but you can see the employees care and are trying their best. There's a women in her mid to late 40s with dark hair that works here. I walked up to her with my 5 year old son and asked her where their restroom is located she told me restroom was out of service. Walked up to another elderly lady and asked same and she pointed me to the restroom. To the lady with the dark hair I hope one day you get stuck in a situation where you get stuck and you poop yourself. My point is have some humility. Similar to other reviewers experiences which I should have checked first. I scheduled an immunization online two days in advance. When I arrived the immunization was not ready and was not in stock. I was told to come back next week. Further I was told "our online experience is not great". This Walgreens always has a solid AND consistent 1 hour+ wait for the pharmacy. It doesn't matter if it's drive-thru or walk in. The front of the store will close early claiming "small items" available at the DRIVE-THRU. The drive-thru is always packed. Why force more people through that area. I've spent hours today trying to call them and can't even get through about a prescription issue. They manually hang up. And it's been 7+ times now. I am THIS CLOSE to a BBB and internal walgreens complaint line. One of their pharmacists pretty much announced one of my controlled medications in front of the whole pharmacy too and questioned why I needed so much and I kept telling him it was for a neurological disease (an approved use of the medicine) and that there is no mistake. I am specifically rating my experience at the Walgreens pharmacy from this past week. I generally choose this as my preferred pharmacy because of the 24 hour drive thru available. This time, I went to pick up a prescription for my son. There was one person ahead of me. I ended up waiting 30 minutes for the person ahead of me! I figured they must swamped inside and when I finally drove up to the window I found out the inside has been closed for more than an hour. So, it then felt conclusive that we had actually waited for this person to get their prescription filled. I couldn't believe this person wasn't asked to come back or at least pull to the side and park. Had I not been pressed to get my son's medicine I would have never waited that long. Once I pulled up, I noticed that the speaker to converse with the pharmacist was broken. So there I was, yelling my address and name just so the pharmacist could hear me. I could barely hear his replies so ended up googling info about medication. The window was filthy, the signs posted to them were all crooked and taped poorly. I made a biggest mistake placing my pick up order in this store! The staff in pick up/photo section was so unhelpful, impatient and treat customer inappropriately. Usually if I pick up order from other stores I will just tell them the name or order number, or they will offer/suggest options to know more info about my order. This is the most horrible Walgreens pharmacy in the area. I never expect or receive prompt or fast service. It takes them forever to fill a simple prescription. They are habitually late with filling scripts that are due to be filled that day. When you call the pharmacy, you are on hold for eternity and then most of the time you get hung up on. 9 days ago I requested my prescriptions be moved from CVS. The store on N. Main refuses to help or to care--I called today (as I've called every day for nine days) to ask for their help. The pharmacist on duty just said, and I quote, "what do you want me to do about it?" When I explained that's not a great way to treat people, he added, "happy Easter." Kim at the back office was sadly terrible. It's a tough situation because they are often very busy so I have compassion for their frustration and them as humans trying and doing their best. But made maybe four calls being so so kind and nice trying to get answers to a really important yet simple logistical issue with stock/inventory and she just didn't want to spend any energy helping answer some of the most basic exchanges all addressed with nothing but professional courtesy, and without any expressed definitive expectations - such as that they needed to be completely accurate... Just a general idea of her own experience there. She just keeps hanging up, yelling, expressive certainties when it comes to not being able to help, and being uncertain about any information that could be informative. Overall she was dramatically combative. The comical part was calling back four times with the same lines and attitude: 'thank you very much' each time. If you don't like your job and are too busy you should fight back if management is not taking care of you. But bullies belong in playgrounds and you Kim are a downright combative, and angry bully. In addition to being horribly short-staffed (by people who don't even want to work there), everything seems to be either locked up or stored in the back. DRIVE-THRU PHARMACY When I lived in Walnut Creek, I visited this Walgreens once a month (at least) to pick up my womanly prescription. And an important presciption it was! Thanks to Walgreens' reliable pharmacy service, my cats didn't have to be worried about the possibility of any children in their future. I loved the drive-thru convenience. Preventing babies without even having to get out of my car. Doing it right, Walgreens. Now my prescriptions are filled at Target because its more convenient to my drive, but I still stop at Walgreen from time to time for little things. Husband needed some chocolate yesterday and I grabbed a couple frozen mudslide pouches. I need some alcohol with my chocolate. These things look awesome. They're $2 each - we haven't tried them yet, but they are frozen, ready, and waiting in my freezer RIGHT NOW. Yum. See you tonight, mudslide. If you're hoping to win a lot of money from the CA Lottery so that you never have to work again, you may want to go somewhere else. However, this branch is open 24/7, so that last minute OTC run is a lot easier and more convenient to make. I found this Walgreens particularly useful to get a bunch of Clipper Cards. I needed them for an upcoming Work Event that would involve transporting a lot of folks into the City on BART. This review is for the manager Dante. I usually go to Walgreens Thanksgiving Day and the day after Thanksgiving because Register Rewards (RR) are given for many items on these 2 days. This is the day I stock my stockpile as well. I spoke to Dante to ask him what their store policy is for RR items. I proceeded to explain that this is the day I really go couponing because I shop and donate the items to an organization (I showed him the letter written to me by the Director of Families First). Dante's response, " I don't mind, we are here for business". I couldn't agree with him more. Thank you Dante! You truly provide top notch customer service. If I were telling my younger self 2 years ago... it'd be to avoid this Walgreen's Pharmacy unless you need a critical Rx at 1AM. The Walgreen's store is great, the Pharmacy on the other hand, is SO SLOW. Seriously, for your general monthly Rx's, I would not recommend sending them to this location, because you will end up wasting hours of your valuable time each year waiting in line to simply pick up and pay for a basic Rx. The photos of line lengths, those are real. I've experienced them at this location, and I've had to wait up to 45 minutes here before to pick up a standard Rx which was ready earlier that morning. It's sad. You will be so much better off at another Walgreen's location, using Walgreen's mail Rx service, or better yet, support a small business owner and use another locally owned Pharmacy in the area. The Walgreen's Pharmacy in Santa Clara off Pruneridge was fantastic with their service and speed, and would run circles around how poorly this Walgreen's Pharmacy operates. I was shocked after moving to Walnut Creek in 2018 to find how slow the service is here. If you ever show up and there are more than 2 people in front of you, prepare to wait 15 minutes at MINIMUM. Why? There are not enough Pharmacy Technicians to keep up with the drive-through, which you're competing against for being in store in person. The tech will bounce from the drive-through window to the indoor cashier, back and forth. To me, the problem here is they are constantly understaffed... it's THAT simple. Even right now, it's 4PM on a Tuesday, and I've been on hold for 19 minutes to see why, after 7 calendar days, they are still "out of stock" on a VERY, VERY typical Rx. I empathize for the existing staff, as many of them are very nice and are working as fast as they can to keep up. You can tell the staff gets flustered with the lack of help. I wonder, if corporate Walgreen's stepped on foot to audit the site unannounced, would they be shocked and upset to see how long customers have to wait? My guess is the Store Manager or District Manager is under pressure to hit certain profit targets each quarter, and so they are purposefully keeping staff low. They might assume people will just "deal with it," because it's Walgreen's. But hey, as a consumer, you can always vote with your wallet and move your Rx's to a better location or local Pharmacy. Forget reaching anyone on the phone, they are most likely not able to pick up, and if they do, you are automatically put on hold without anyone saying anything to you. The worst thing is that they turn business away. So, I accidentally scheduled a vaccination appt on a different day. It is around 9am. The girl says well, we can't fit you in because someone else has that time. Well, hello, there is no one else after, right? The store is virtually empty. How come you couldn't offer that time. Now, if I choose to go through Walgreens, I would have to go back online in order to schedule AGAIN. It is highly unlikely that I will do that. I do not know if all Walgreens locations are involved, however this particular location has a disturbing trend of telling customers that their prescriptions aren't covered and charging full price! The clerk acted as if she was checking the system for discounts for a prescription that had been covered in the past. I founded a much cheaper price of $24.74 opposed to the $124.00 they were attempting to charge me in-store on GoodRx and asked would they be able to price match Costco. The clerk told me no (this was a blessing in disguise). I had my doctor transfer the script to Costco. Here's the kicker, the rep at Costco was "MAGICALLY" able to remove the restriction on the prescription and get the meds to me at copay price. Go figure! Unfortunately this is my pharmacy. The worst customer service in the world. Both my son and I come here for prescriptions. Several times have come down a pick up a prescription when it said it was ready on the phone or by email and the pharmacy did not have it ready. The most recent recent failure of this place was my son was having surgery and I couldn't even get his pain medication filled before his surgery because they were all incompetent there. The staff at the window where completely rude to me and when I requested that person's name so I could file a complaint they refuse to give it to me but the Incompetent manager's name Jviar or something like that.
