I rarely shop here anymore. I had for years.......for one reason.... it's only a couple of blocks from my home. Pros.....location, ample parking, clean inside, and I got some vaccinations there. Cons....clerks are rarely of any help, pricing is so tricky/complicated that mistakes are made quite often. Even before COVID, there were a lot of empty spaces on the shelves. They rarely had all that I needed to get. It went downhill from there. I think most people come to a drug/variety store for (mostly) meds and personal necessity items. Instead they have groceries, patio furniture, plants (that look half dead from lack of water) and the ice-cream parlor. Speaking of which, while waiting in a line 6-deep.....there's a clerk scooping ice cream. If you are buying liquor, or even cough syrup......regardless of how old your are (I'm in my 70's) they require that you let them scan your driver's license (which gives them a lot of your personal info they have no business knowing). I can't speak for the pharmacy, cause I don't use it.....but I have seen a lot of one-star reviews from others.....? I won't miss them.....and look forward to a good store to move in to take their place, that will have full shelves and good management. read more

I rarely go to Rite Aid unless I'm craving Thrifty ice cream! I love that you can buy it by the scoop here or by the tub. It's a bit of nostalgia if you ask me. And you need to get chocolate malted crunch. It's one of their signature flavors which is sometimes hard to find. So yes, I mainly came here for the ice cream. Haha I'd like to add that this particular location is super clean and well stocked. Love the rolling basket too! The only downside was the wait in line. There were five of us in line but only one cashier. read more

This 1 star review goes to the pharmacy and pharmacist. I just moved to the area and had my doctor send my medication to the pharmacy. When I went to pick it up I was rudely told they did not have my medication and to go back to the pharmacy I was previously using. So I did. I tried a second time to give them a chance and boy that was a mistake! I called the day before and they told me they would have my medication ready. I've been sitting at the pharmacy for an hour. I would recommend ANY other pharmacy then this one. read more

Wow I use to like shopping here. I got an attitude from 2 clerks because I didn't want my ceramic planters shoved in the same bag banging into each other they wrapped in some kind of paper and said THERE and left them on the counter. I asked for plastic bag to carry them in since I had 6,and she tossed it on the counter. I said is there a problem giving me a bag ,she said no , I have to go to lunch. Oh. Wow. Not morning people for sure. I hit places early and this is one of those places where the staff needs some coffee. They do head to the register when they see you and while they are not unfriendly (just kind of cranky with the just rolled out of bed look) the service is off in the morning. I have never been here in the afternoon so I have no idea how the service is when the place wakes up. The store is okay and the parking is good, which is why I go here. read more

Pharmacy: Very disappointing / frustrating experience / visit to this pharmacy today! Have set up an appointment from a week ago to show up and be told to just keep visiting the pharmacy till they can get my insurance processed for a vaccine that has already been confirmed as covered under my insurance. I have been a customer of this pharmacy for many years but seriously thinking about switching. I have a full time job and I have made this appointment to avoid having to come in throughout the day to ck-in. Simply unrealistic and really not a good look for a healthcare provider for a simple administration of a vaccine which you can receive for free in some places. read more

I am so thankful that I found this Rite Aid!! I was having serious trouble getting local pharmacies to place orders for my medication, it's a chewable due to a severe swallowing disability, and apparently pharmacies don't legally have to fill things if they don't feel like it, so I would find a place to fill it once and then they would refuse to continue filling it because it was a nuisance to special order it. That seems criminal, but it sent me around the East Bay area searching for new pharmacies. This Rite Aid saved me. Not only are they happy to ensure I have stable access to my medication, but they worked with the manufacturer to make sure that I got a discount because there isn't a generic for my medication so it's pricey. Thank you a thousand times to Justin in the pharmacy, you're an absolute rockstar and I really deeply appreciate you!! As for the store itself, it's quite honestly one of the nicest drug stores in the area, and as you all saw above, I've been to a LOT of drugstores. For those that are familiar with Thrifty's Ice Cream this Rite Aid has it!! We try to make our little pit stop here when coming back home from the Bay Area to grab some yummy ice cream. At this location they want you to get in line to get your ice cream instead of standing by the ice cream counter. On occasion when necessary we visit Rite Aide in Walnut Creek and each time we are never greeted with a hello or thank you as in other locations. Never "can I help you" just very silent and cold behavior. We have noticed on some occasions they appear to be very selective on who they patronize. It is so obvious and and concerning. What is the underline reason?! We try to avoid this location and drive to the Pleasant Hill and Martinez locations where customer service is a 5 star...always a hello and thank you. Other times you may have to wait in long lines with one cashier. We have notice this behavior for over 2 years and nothing improves. We hope someone from Rite Aide reads our post and takes action or otherwise we feel compelled to take this matter to the next level read more

I can somehow always manage to find what I need at this Rite Aid location -- possibly due to the helpful customer service provided by the employees. They remodeled their store and made everything easier to find! The beauty section is well-lit and is well-stocked with the products that I need and use. Their clearance section is great, and found several pairs of summertime flip flops for friends and family members. Using my Gold Status (now converted in to Plenti Points) is also an excellent perk. Combine that with in-ad and manufacturer coupons, and you've got yourself a deal! Easy-to-find parking and an easy-to-get-to location round out the pluses in my book for this store. read more

Picked up some Claritin @ Rite Aid last Sunday. Apparently you now need to sign a form promising you're not going to pull out your chemistry set and turn the allergy medicine you purchased into Crystal Meth... "Hmmm, no thanks, pharmacist. I do not wish to stay up for 3 days tweaking like a psychopath while I dismantle my TV, all the while ensuring my teeth slowly rot out... I just want to get rid of my annoying allergies." This is THE BEST Rite Aid in the world! I called this pharmacy, and a tech named Itzel answered the phone on the first ring. I needed COVID test kits and they had them in stock! She promised to fill my order in 30 minutes! This all happened after my VERY BAD experience at the Rite Aid on Mountain Blvd Oakland where they never answer the phone and they didn't fill Test Kit order, and they don't tell you they don't fill them until you walk in their store. Anyway, this Rite Aid on Palos Verdes Mall in Walnut Creek is my place to go from now on!! It's not convenient to where I live the Oakland Hills but I don't care. They are 100% worth the extra effort to drive a few minutes further for their excellent service! read more

It's been about six months when I last went into this store and going in today... what a difference; they started redoing the inside back in October/November and the result is just awesome! I thought it had been enlarged but it hasn't, the merchandise has been rearranged and it just makes it also so much more open; the people who work there have always been very friendly and are happy to help you find items. ****Added item: Yesterday, 3-24-14, I bought another "Flex-Able Hose" as seen on TV; it's wonderful that Rite Aid sells items that you see on television as it makes it so much easier to buy them then going on-line; these hoses make watering so nice and easy as they don't "kink or tangle" when going to various areas of the yard; when I'm finished I just take the hose into the garage. This pharmacy is so bad. I'm dropped off a prescription and was told to pick up 1 1/2 hours later cause the pharmacist is at lunch. Also, don't come between 6 & 7 pm. Lunch again. Store often half empty (no lines), thus I thought a got place to pick up prescription medicine that I currently have to take. Bad idea it turned out. Even though the stuff I'm taking can't be anything special (it isn't really) and even though I have to take it for 3 months already, it's never in stock when I come back to refill. Worse: TWICE the Pharmacists helper stated that everything is available (after the first time I was asking to check on it so I don't need to come back in vain) , she even said I can pick it up in an hour ... but when I came back I was informed they made a mistake and that I have to come back the next day. Did they say excuse me or at least sorry for the inconvenience, off course not. And how can they confuse medicine (she held it in her hand already when she said everything is here) Notice to self: Tell doctor to switch pharmacies to the always horrible busy one with the three letters or the other one... read more

Update: Thanks to the pharmacist who refused to fill my friend's prescription for no conceivable reasons, she had to go to the emergency room, where she was given an emergency supply of her meds and a new prescription. This pharmacist refused that as well. From now on, we are going to Walgreens for all of our prescription needs. read more

I have shopped at this store for over thirty years. A few years ago they remodeled the store and now it is beautiful and the merchandise is easy to find. The major , and I do mean major problem, is with their check out system and method. Each purchase can take 5 to ten minutes. Added to the time it takes to process a sale, they mostly have just one cashier handling a long line. It never ceases to amaze me that a second or third checker is not called for when a long line forms. Most customers enjoy selecting merchandise, but after going through the checkout process as I have described, they are left with a sour taste in their mouth about their overall experience. I have spoken with the manager and employees about this problem to no avail. They have enough employees on hand, but they have been given directions to stock and display as a priority. First of all, I thought stocking and display took place after hours in most stores. Bottom line, tending to the checkout should be the number one priority instead of stocking and display. read more

I give the pharmacy section a wonderful rating for service, courtesy and general good work. I give the checkout at the front very poor marks. You are always in line at least 3 deep with only one checker and they seldom call another checker. I have given up many times and just put my items back.
