I was hesitant to utilize Quest Diagnostics for lab work due to all the poor reviews. The…read morereceptionist was a tad short in tone, but she was efficient and helpful. The phlebotomist (Mariana? Italian lady) was absolutely a charming delight. She drew blood painlessly and quickly, and she was engaging and so sweet. I did have an appointment, and they honored me before those that were there before me. I appreciate that since I did make the appointment and have to return to work. I was in and out in fifteen minutes.

I gave her my new and current insurance card. They pulled up my old health insurance plan in their computer which was gone for two months. I told them to process the claim under the new insurance plan because that one was the one that was the most current. The technician draws blood and there was a large hematoma at the injection site for several days afterwards. The size was over 3 inches. Then I get the results from the two lab orders. One was never performed because they dropped the vial of blood and it broke on the floor. The insurance company sent me an explanation of benefits for the claim submitted to them for my service here from 3/25/26. The claim was processed by this office using my old insurance which i clearly told them was no longer being used or paid for because my employer put me on a new plan with better benefits. I told them to process the claim using my new insurance. They did not listen and used the incorrect information from my old plan. The health plan should not be paying for a claim this way. This was my first and last time I go here for any blood work. If they send you here from across the street from the hospital or urgent care go somewhere else.

My wife was recently treated for kidney stone at John Muir Health in Walnut Creek and Concord. I…read morewould like to describe the outstanding care she received at both locations. Recently, on a Sunday evening, after our daily walk, she complained of unbearable pain in her lower left back. We called the Moraga-Orinda paramedics and they showed up in 3 minutes! She was given pain killers and rushed to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, the closest location for us. At John Muir Emergency Department, she was attended to immediately. The physician, Dr. Kessler, after examining her, immediately opined that it looks like kidney stone! He ordered a CT Scan and a medium to large size kidney stone was confirmed. Dr. Kessler prescribed pain killer, necessary medication and admitted her since the pain was unbearable for her to handle at home. Krystal and Kamala was the first nurse-team we had. They were both excellent, caring and compassionately attended to my wife as often as needed even during the night. After seeing the excruciating pain, they arranged an urologist consulting and a decision was made to do a Ureteroscopy and blast the stone into small fragments/dust. Since this procedure was done only at the Concord location of John Muir, my wife was transported by an excellent ambulance team to Concord location. In Concord, she was given excellent care by RN Mary and RN Emmeline - they were really amazing! My wife needed help often, and the nurses never ever complained (even at night) and helped my wife with a cheerful smile every time! The next two days, she was given outstanding care by Dr. Khan and the nursing team of Sarah and Benjamin. Sarah is very knowledgeable, competent, very compassionate, cheerful and friendly. She followed the protocol strictly for every care-activity and her attention to detail was amazing. For example, she had to check my wife's blood glucose regularly. Every time, Sarah would poke the finger, remove the first drop of blood the comes out with a gauze (since the first drop was in contact with the needle), press the finger to get the next drop and use it to test blood glucose! And, Sarah was training a student nurse and she was painstakingly describing every step of every procedure in great detail to the student while taking excellent care of my wife. The urologist, Dr. Chang, was very friendly, and explained to wife the details of the procedure. His attention to detail was also amazing. Since the kidney stone was in the lest ureter, he used a marker on my wife left leg to highlight that it is the left ureter! The Nurse practitioner from his office, Vivian, scheduled the surgery and communicated with us daily. She showed real concern and empathy for my wife's ordeal. The procedure was successful and the excruciating pain stopped almost immediately afterwards. Dr. Chang had written a detailed description of every step of the procedure in my wife's My Chart - it was comforting to read the detailed report. She was discharged the next day. The care my wife received from the Doctors and Nurses at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek and Concord was consistently excellent - the quick/initial diagnosis at ER, confirmation through CT Scan, excellent execution of the procedure by the Urologist and the awesome care she received from the Nursing Team after the procedure - all outstanding! We have lived in Contra Costa County for over thirty years and have had treatments at John Muir Hospital a few times and we experienced excellence every time! We highly recommend John Muir Hospitals and their outstanding team of Physicians and Nurses.

Given that my previous John Muir surgeries were in WC, I was curious how my experience at JMCC would compare. When I was first called back, I was impressed with how big the rooms were in the Short Stay Unit and that the rooms have private bathrooms. Given that I didn't have to stay overnight, I wasn't expecting this type of room at all. The people who took care of me there were Linda, CNA, Sequoia, CNA student, Diane, RN, and Shelby, phlebotomist. Both Diane and Shelby were able to poke me one time each to start an IV and draw blood, respectively. I have small veins so anyone who doesn't have to poke more than once is a winner in my book! I had no idea I was in Short Stay until Denise came to take to pre-op. She was so funny and energetic, which decreased my anxiety a few hours earlier. Once in pre-op, I met with Elena, RN (pre-op), Monica, RN (OR), anesthesiologist Dr. Leung, and surgeon Dr. Lo. Everyone walked me through what to expect and made me feel relaxed. Dr. Leung also called me the day before, which is a first for all of my JM surgeries. Once in the OR, I meet techs/RNs Jonathan and Gabe as well as see the robot (first robotic surgery as most of my previous surgeries were ENT). Thats all I remember in the OR, thanks to the anesthesia. :) Before I knew it, I was in recovery and Dr. Lo said the surgery went well. I was quite sleepy so the only nurse I remember was Myra. I think there might have been one or two other RNs whose names I unfortunately didn't get (my apologies!). My surgery buddy Jerome was quite popular! The doctor I work for operates a lot at JMCC and now I know why. Although I hope not to need surgery anytime soon, I hope I can come back next time I need it. Thanks everyone for taking awesome care of me (and Jerome)!

The person who received my call was very pleasant and nice. I was able to schedule an appointment at my home for the blood draw the following morning. The person who I spoke with, Bernadeth, explained the blood draw procedure and told me she would be at my house at 8 AM the following day The following day I received a text from Bernadeth telling me that she was on her way. Bernadeth arrived at my house a little early and messaged me if it was OK to do the blood draw now. I told her it was fine. I opened the door and was met by Bernadeth who was dressed appropriately and in fresh scrubs. Bernadeth presented me with her business card and politely asked if she could come in. She entered my house and asked me if there was a place I felt comfortable for the blood draw. I directed her to my kitchen. Bernadeth was very professional, put on rubber gloves, laid out a sterile pad on my kitchen table, and explained the procedure to me. Bernadeth found a vein she liked and carefully cleansed the area where the needle was to enter my vein. Bernadeth's skill in placement of the needle was fantastic and I didn't even feel the poke nor any pain at all! After the draw, Bernadeth placed the needle in a sharps container, gathered all the equipment she had used for the blood draw, and put them into a plastic bag. Bernadeth explained the procedure for the results, thanked me, and left my house. I would like to pass on that the level of professionalism, communication, attention to detail, and sanitation and safety practices were greater than I expected. The in-home service was so convenient for me and the cost was extremely fair compared to if I had to travel to a clinic for a blood draw. Nevertheless, I highly recommend Lay Lab for any blood draw procedures you may need!

This prompted me more urgently to see if my prescription was up. I checked the Kaiser app to see if the prescription was up and BINGO! It was . Makes sense I was having vision challenges. Anywho, I'm from Fresno and the earliest I can be be seen was end of June 2026. I definitely can't be waiting that long unfortunately as I need new glasses and prescription. Luckily we were headed to the Bay Area for Easter and Martinez had 1 appointment open for 4/2 at 3pm. I booked it immediately as it's not too far from the dudes grandmas house. We ran into some car trouble and gps said we won't be there until 3:45 pm. I called Kaiser and they recommended I reschedule. I am not taking no for an answer and I saw on their site they take walk ins. I let the advice line know. I think we can make it. We made it at 3:50pm. It took me a little to find the location but I found it. 4pm. I registered online and checked in with staff to let them know. YES I am about an hour late. Took accountability 100% . They asked Dr. Angela Wong if she will take me. The staff member said she is with a patient but will ask. A few minutes later they call me. They said Dr. Angela Wong is ready for me. I cry. Before I can walk back Dr. Wong greets me so warm and excited to see me. I can feel my body relax as she reassures me she will take me in. Dr. Angela Wong is an amazing soul. She is so warm, funny, exciting and just refreshing. I have had bad optometrist experiences growing up but she has healed my trauma from just by her being her. So understanding and very supportive! Do not give her up Kaiser at all. She is a GEM to the optometry world . We had a blast together in the appointment and made it go by so fast. She gave me words of encouragement as I let her know I'm getting married. It was like talking to a bestie! Seriously recommend her. She was surprised I came from Fresno but lack of availability had me come up North. I left with a new prescription and ordering my glasses this week! Thank you Dr. Wong . Systemic stress is real! And barriers too but she closed the gap. Highly recommend her!
