I really wish this Safeway would reconsider how they handle checkout in the early mornings. I…read moresometimes shop here around 6:00-6:30 a.m. before work, and it's frustrating how quickly a long line can form with only one cashier open while self-checkout is still closed. What makes it worse is that even when the line is clearly getting backed up, it can take 10-15 minutes before another employee is called up to help. At that point, several customers are already standing around waiting. A lot of people are working much earlier schedules these days, and you can tell many of the customers shopping at that hour are grabbing breakfast, lunch, drinks, or other things on their way to work. People shopping that early are usually trying to get in and out quickly. If there are enough customers consistently shopping at that hour to create a line, Safeway should either have additional cashiers scheduled so 2-3 lanes can be opened when needed, or simply allow self-checkout to open as early as 6 a.m. It would make such a big difference for early-morning customers.

For the most part, going to most any restaurant was a waste of time and money. A better choice was to let them shop and choose at Safeway and then bring it all back to the Hotel. Our choices weren't all that nutritious over all, but it did reduce the drama and later cries of "I'm Starving"! My most pleasant surprise here was that my old California land line number was still linked to the Safeway Loyalty program. Past that, the combination of an unfamiliar store, and so many choices made this Safeway trip a fairly lengthy one. And later back at the Hotel, all was well.

This is the best pharmacy in all of Monterey County. I switched over to Walgreens from Safeway across the street because they're open 24 hours and they always have my prescription ready on time(and I take epilepsy medications)whereas at Safeway they tend not to have every medication I need on time whenever I need them,and they're not open 24 hours. The store also has great photo processing and printer cartridge refills. Don't forget to stop by the freezer selling Mexican Ice Cream/Fruit Bars by the cash register-you'll love them. If you need a prescription in the middle of the night,this Walgreens will have it for you when you need it. read more

This is a review for the system and efficiency of the Pharmacy and not the employees, who work very hard to accommodate all of the people who come in. Again just want to reiterate the employees are not the issue and are wonderful. The system for the pharmacy is awful. It's completely inefficient and a waste of time to not have a prescription pickup area. I should not have to wait 45 minutes for a 2 minute transaction. Eliminate the greedy express pick up and improve your business reviews by improving the efficiency of your store. I feel bad for the workers. read more

Waited 30 min in drive thru pharmacy line for only 2 cars ahead of me. Then it was my turn. I pull up to the window and wait another 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge me and start talking to me. Then after asking for my date of birth and name 4 times, tells me that my hand cream isnt ready for pickup yet even though they have been calling me all week saying it is ready. This is hands down the most unprofessional, disorganized Walgreens ever. I will not be returning. They never answer the phone so it rings forever, leaving you on hold with no customer service for up to 30 minutes. The pharmasist Raul B was so unprofessional on the phone. He screamed at me and was talking too fast to understand a word. How he is even employed is beyond my comprehension. They make mistakes, clinical errors are rushing around. He just estimated the amount of pills he put in the container; he didn't use any device to insure the correct number of pills. When I asked him, he said he was "just eyeballing it"; he said he had the experience to know he was filling my order correctly. He was friendly and on the positive side, all of the staff there I've delt with are pleasant and try to be helpful.
