It's a shame to see how far this store has fallen. The atmosphere is genuinely hostile; the employees seem miserable and are consistently disrespectful to shoppers. It's reached a point where the "service" is an active deterrent to coming here. To make matters worse, the pricing has become completely detached from reality. You're charging premium prices for a subpar shopping experience and an unhappy environment. Management needs to do a complete overhaul of the staffing culture and fix the price gouging, or people will simply stop coming. This particular Lucky location is larger than the majority I've been to. They have a larger fresh produce area which I appreciate as well as a decent bakery section. The store itself feels very dated on the inside. Sure, I don't care too much about the "aesthetics" of my grocery store but this one could definitely use a little refresh. One big positive is the large parking lot. You'll never need to search for a space. This store is conveniently located near other shopping hallmarks like target and Costco so you can hit all three stores in the same center. Pretty convenient! read more

Ive been shopping there lately because it seems to be the closest grocery store to where I'm staying and I'm on foot because of car thefts. Seems to be really bad where I'm living at right now. Anyways I normally don't have any issues but the last few times that I went there I got some shrimp and they just didn't seem right. I didn't pay too much attention but then got some bread there a week or so ago and it tasted sour. Almost like it had some Hops in it or something. It was so strongly sour that I could not eat it and had to put it down, and I hate to waste food. Im not sure if you take stuff back when that happens or not. I normally wouldn't care but with money being tight right now I just wondered what you do in that situation. I also had an issue with someone stealing my EBT card and to be honest it took over 20 times/8 months for them to re-except me and one morning I was walking at the beach and was starving so I decided to walk into Lucky's and grab the cheapest thing I could find that would fill me up. Which was donuts (I don't even like but they fill you up the fastest and are the cheapest) I grabbed 2 and it ended up being like under $2. I thought I had change but realized I didn't and thought about the food that I bought there that was bad last time I was in there, when I got home, and thought oh maybe they would just find it in their hearts to give me a break because I'm having such a hard time with my luck right now; but no the guy ran after me and started screaming at me to not come back. Ive worked in customer service for 19 years and In that situation I would never treat a customer like that. I would try and understand the situation and see what I could do to help not yell at someone. Who ultimately picked out something that is the cheapest thing they could find to eat because they were starving. I understand I shouldn't have taken it at all I know I just am confused as to why this keeps happening to me. read more

I moved to Seaside and I had to find a Lucky's grocery's store. Sand City has a nice store. It's bigger than the Lucky's in Pacific Grove. Parking is easy and plenty of spots. Store is well lit and they have a self check area too. read more

Three stars because the price was good, and the checker was friendly, but zero stars for the employee who rudely reprimanded me at the self checkout because I didn't know that I'm supposed to type in a code instead of using the bar code when buying a fixed price pumpkin. (If it needed to be weighed, I would understand.) Instead of asking if I needed assistance, she rushed up to me and scolded me. It was a very strange experience. I don't like this store. It smells funny, it's WAY too bright inside, the layout is strange. Yesterday I went in only because I couldn't find the item I needed at Target. I found what I needed- proceeded to self check. When I got there a gal was struggling because the scale on the right was malfunctioning. I start scanning my items and the same thing happens. I move my bag off, then on, then off... still won't let me proceed. There is NO staff nearby to assist. I finally walked to the first available checker and said self check is malfunctioning, can you send someone over? She pages Tony. He never came. My self check miraculously fixed itself, but the first gal was still in a bind. Finally a woman I saw bagging walked over and did something to hers and fixed it. She went on to say how fickle the scale is and if you move anything it won't work. Ok, well If that's the case why isn't there a staff member nearby to babysit? Either fix the self check or have someone near by to keep it running. read more

What an outstanding staff at Lucky's Store in Sand City, California! I went in to this store around 3:30PM, on Sunday, August, 7, 2022. My son got married on August 8, 2022, and I was looking in the bakery for a plain white cake that I could "spiff" up to make it my son and daughter-in-law's wedding cake. The cater that was taking care of the dinner menu had to cancel due to family illness, so he put a replacement chef for the wedding. The replacement chef couldn't provide a cake, so I spoke with a baker in Pacific Grove which informed me they could do the cake. Two days prior to the wedding, the baker told me via email that he couldn't do the small cake due to time restraint issues. My husband and I went to Costco in Sand City to see if there was anything I could make work for a wedding cake. No luck. As we were leaving the parking lot, I saw Lucky's and thought I would check it out for something very generic, and maybe put some flowers on the top to make it work for a wedding cake. While I was looking in the bakery, I saw a lady working in the deli department and explained my dilemma. She called Tony, the manager over to speak with me. I informed him what I was looking to achieve. As soon as I finished explaining to Tony what happened, he immediately picked up his phone and called his baker (Katie- who was home on her day off), if she could accommodate me. She agreed, and I filled out the cake form. I was just expecting a simple one-layer cake that looked something like a wedding cake. The next day husband picked up the cake several hours prior to the wedding. I was absolutely dumb founded at the beautiful two layered wedding cake he brought back !!! I cannot believe how warm and empathetic Tony was and how he went above and beyond to make this happen, not to mention what an amazing job Katie did in such short notice. In times like this where customer service has diminished over the past several years, this just reinforced that people really do care and take such pride in what they do. Thank you so very much. I went to the bakery to ask if they can make a custom cake and the worker looked like she would rather look anywhere but look my direction and seemed like she didn't want to help. I asked her and she was like I know what the decorating person does and they wouldn't be able to make the cake I want. Very dismissive. She was especially upset when the other workers in the deli side offered to help and said they might be able to help me and help make the cake with the decorating person. I really like Lucky's cake it's very good so I'm disappointed and sad that I wasn't assisted properly to get what I needed. read more

The staff have been great. My issue is in the digital coupons. Not everyone owns a cell or can afford one, many do not know how to work a fancy cell phone, in my opinion it is discrimination to decline savings to those who are not cell phone users. I shop here sometimes and it's super expensive. Tonight I bought fresh warm French bread and a rotisserie chicken. The French bread tasted like it was freezer burned. And had no taste other than that. Flavorless. And the rotisserie chicken was completely dry. I will not be buying food from this grocery store anymore. Just terrible. read more

It's been many many years since I've seen a Lucky store and what better place to stop and grab some snacks as this location is right off the freeway! We really didn't buy much other than a bottle of water and some mangos but what really got me was the checker lady who obviously was having a bad morning because of the fact that her attitude straight up sucked for no reason! When I find people like that who are rude to those in a retail environment for no reason I think what's the point in being mean to customers they come and go and then your done with them but if your rude to them for no reason it will often come back and bite you i mean come on there's no reason to be rude to anyone especially those your suposto help at your job. Overall our mangos were delicious and very fresh but the bigger lady who was working here on the morning hours of July 31st 2016 really must have filled out an application for a job she doesn't really want to work we couldn't have been inside the store for more than a few minutes but hey I guess we were the problem for doing nothing not her! This place has had spoiled dairy products every time I have purchased them, I no longer spend my money at this store because it comes with inconveniences. I.e buying creamer and waking up the next day needing that cup of coffee and BAM spoiled non-dairy creamer! The amount of neglect that has to go in to spoil something that isn't even dairy is mind boggling. Very bad receiving team which doesn't get items to the freezer/fridge on time and this includes the spoiled ice cream I also purchased a week prior. So long lucky! I won't be coming back! read more

All Purpose Market! Nice variety of goods at reasonable prices. Great location in Sand City, next to highway #1 with a huge parking lot. Nice deli and bakery, however my favorite is the seafood counter. They have cooked Maine lobsters at $10.00/lb and cooked crab. We went to Lucky's to buy balloons and also took a some of our own balloons to get helium, approximately 20+ balloons altogether. Gage was the gentleman working on produce and also on to the floral department. Gage was very patient with us, he kept his cool while we just hovered around him and watched him put helium in the balloons. Lucky is usually a hit or miss from me. The women at the registers are usually the best for me, they always have something nice and/or funny to say. The men definitely bring down the experience, they tend to be quite silent or just flat out awkward when trying to make conversation. The store is just too big. It's so big I can get lost inside. The second exit is closed. Why have only one door for a store this big? Often the newer Lucky or Walmart is just a bigger version of all the same stuff and no more choices. I'm not a big fan of this store for several reasons: 1) There are never any hand baskets by the door to pick up on your way in. 2) The shopping carts always have trash and debris in them. 3) The lines are almost always backed up. 4) The prices are EXPENSIVE. Especially on produce. You would assume because it is a large store the prices would be reasonable -not so at all. 5) Their breads are usually expired or nearing expiration. Unless you plan on eating your entire loaf of bread in 2 days then you shouldn't get it here. 6) Their produce is downright terrible. I've never gotten any peaches that were edible or oranges that didn't require a laser-guided missile to peel. read more

I have lived in this area for over a year and this is the BEST grocery store here. It is large, well organized, has great produce, and always has everything I need. However, mostly I'd like to give a great big kudos to the staff. I have NEVER in my life experienced such outstanding customer service as I have here. I just have to share my experience this morning... I walked in with my Christmas dinner list that contained a particular type of sausage. I assumed they didn't carry it when I didn't see it in the case, but was approached by an employee who asked if I needed help. I almost dismissed her because I was sure they didn't have it. She reached out to the butcher who found some for me and handed it to me with a "Merry Christmas". Then in the deli the employee who helped me was so cheerful and shared a funny story with me. In the produce section the gentlemen were so helpful. Apparently it's odd to make stuffing for Christmas, because I have found each year the bread cubes are scarce. I asked an employee if they had any and she went to the back to find them for me. I am not one to be a shopper who expects help. I honestly would have accepted they didn't have a product and made three more stops on my way home. But instead the Lucky employees made my day!! This place is big so you have good selection but the layout leaves me constantly wandering around as the aisles are long and split down the middle. Produce can be spotty and it seems like a good day to go is Monday when things are fresh. My main complaint here is price. I think that Safeway gives you a better bang for your buck especially if you are using their online coupons. There are never a lot of lanes open so you end up using self checkout which inevitably leaves you asking for a managers help- annoying. read more

This is one of the classier Save Marts I've visited. I dropped by with a couple family members on Thanksgiving morning. We were looking for a large-enough pan to hold the gigantic turkey we were going to cook later that evening. We were surprised to find a gigantic aisle with all sorts of cooking utensils.
