Yummy fresh tasting donuts, good coffee and friendly staff. I had ordered and half dozen donuts and asked if I could do some donut holes in place of one of the donuts, they said no. No problem, makes sense. We ordered our regular donuts and the lady was nice enough to throw in some donut holes for free cause my son wanted some. Very sweet! The iced vanilla latte was strong (just like I like it)! Would recommend read more

10/10 Ordered the apple fritter and ube donut, plus they threw in some freebies, blueberry donut and donut holes! The apple fritter was easily the best I've ever had. Absolute perfection, crispy on the outside with that caramelized, slightly charred sugar, and packed with soft apple pieces inside. The texture balance was unreal: crunchy edges with a soft, sweet center. The ube donut was good too, definitely on the sweeter side. If you love sweet treats, you'll enjoy it, but I personally wished the ube flavor came through a bit more to balance it out. The blueberry donut was another standout. Super soft and muffin-like with plenty of blueberry flavor throughout, plus a nice outer layer for texture. Honestly way better than a typical chain version. Donut holes were solid as well, simple, fresh, and satisfying. Overall, everything tasted fresh and high quality. Service was fast, and the baker was super friendly, hooked it up with extra donuts, which made the experience even better. The vibe was welcoming, and it's definitely a spot worth checking out. I'll be back for sure. read more

I have to say the two women working this past Thursday were absolutely horrible. So I walked in and stood in front of the register for 10 minutes while they were behind the back counter preparing food to go . So I walked over to make myself a coffee, as I went to get back in line a lady got in front of me ,, they took her order and then told me they would be right with me , I stood there for another 5 minutes no help ! All I wanted to do was pay for my coffee and grab a doughnut , unfortunately I got nothing . I put my coffee down and walked out . Whoever has these two employed should really have a conversation with them . read more

I am trying to find out what the hype was about, but I didn't find it. I saw it on the Marina Facebook group. Someone was asking which donut is the best in town, and a lot of people said Monterey Donuts. I mean, they're not too bad, but there's nothing special about them. I'd rather go to Marina Bagels and Donuts. Since I am still searching for the best milk tea in Monterey, I tried their original milk tea. It tasted like watered-down milk with a hint of tea, and the boba didn't feel right to me. It seemed like there was still something inside them, like they weren't boiled well. Also, when I paid with my card, the lady wouldn't move and seemed like she was making sure I would give a tip before she made my food. read more

If it was only possible to make the 5 hour trek everyday!!!! Needed something quick for our family of 4, but substantial for my husband. And wow did this place give us both! The bagels & bagel sandwiches were amazing! I don't know that I've ever had a fresher, more delicious plain bagel before. The basic bagel sandwich was also so good. I got my go to from a donut shop- the ale fritter. It took me 2 days to eat this thing. It was HUGE! and perfectly cooked..... crunchy on the outside, super soft on the inside. The service was fast, efficient and friendly.... Even giving our kiddos small stickers on the way out! A good amount of seating inside for those that prefer to sit and eat, we took ours back to the hotel. Would I come back? Most definitely!!! read more

I walked in so excited to see this new place was struck by how shockingly white & stark everything looked but that's probably because Stone Creek Kitchen which used to be in the space was so warm and welcoming. Anyway, still excited, I move up to the donut case there's a woman behind the counter looking right at me. She never says a word to me. I said, good morning. She said, what? In an aggressive tone. I said, "I just said good morning." She replies, "Oh" and then turned and walked away. I thought- are you kidding me right now? As I stood there somewhat bewildered another staff person came over looked at me and did the same thing. I just turned and left without purchasing anything. It was the most bizarre thing ever. The donuts looked good, but at $26 a dozen and really really terrible customer service I won't be back. read more

Perfect timing for us to visit this place, because we were in the area. I actually saw this place on one of my IG feed of donut place recommendations. I'm glad I saved it! The inside is small hence it is basically grab and go type of place. However, there is a table outside for you to enjoy your delicious treats! The service is excellent! The staff were personable and generous! And of course the donuts were devoured. read more

Popular place. A bit too sugary for my pallette. Tasted extra sweet. Hubby liked them though.

Ok since our last review we have been to this shop 2 or 3 more times. It was actually sold at some point, and the donuts are def different. 1. They have interesting blueberry options. I noticed a cake donut, fritter and a twist. 2. They are 100% better than the new unrelated shop that opened with a similar name. (Monterry). We bought 4 of the same donuts at each and there was no competition. 3. Service was personable and helpful. 4. Ambiance is lacking, but it feels like a traditional donut shop feel. read more

Visited new location at 10:00 am on 8/4 excited to pick up my favorite maple bar and fritter...so disappointed! Dry, stale, flavorless. Is this what we can expect from the new location? Not surprised...nothing has survived in this space. Looks like MD&B is next to fail. read more

I seldom do reviews and I'm not even from Monterey, I was visiting for work. I happened to need to go to the nearby Safeway and saw a local donut shop. Why not try them? I was rewarded with the best donuts of my life. I couldn't believe how delicious, light, and flaky the first bite was. As I was waiting for coffee I was treated to more donut holes hot and fresh out of the oven. I went back to my colleagues with a box of donuts and a coworker told me they'd never seen me more enthusiastic for anything. These donuts are delicious and will make you question the quality of every other donut you have ever had. read more

Come see Larry & the gang for some of the best donuts in California. If you're lucky like me, you'll be handed a free hot fresh donut! Never thought I'd catch myself saying this, but it blows away K.K. Friendly, hospitable staff & location. I comfortably set up camp for myself to read & study, which they don't seem to mind at all. This is a cute and very busy donut shop. When you walk in, it's a very open and inviting space. I really tried my best not to order the whole store because they have such a delicious variety of donuts. The lady who took my order and helped me was very nice. I ordered: 1. Bacon croissantwich - I loved the layers of the croissant. It was moist and not too messy. It was a perfect balance of egg and cheese. 2. Chicken apple sausage breakfast burrito - perfect balance of egg and sausage. It was simple, but oh, so satisfying. 3. Cronut - Crunchy exterior but fluffy on the inside. I loved separating each layer. 4. Apple fritter - a classic done right. Crispy on the outside but moist on the inside. 5. Blueberry twist - you can definitely taste the blueberries even if you don't see it. This was a delicious treat. Everything we tried was amazing. I was hoping to come back the next day to try more stuff. Maybe next time. read more

Really great service!! Even allowed us to try the blueberry and ube donuts :) the donuts are so fluffy

I'm pretty surprised, I never usually like donuts but the glazed, chocolate and custard ones are delightful. They are a bit too sweet but the little tangy/salty aftertaste adds a good balance to it. The atmosphere is very chill and the coffee is okay, but the focus is more on the donuts. Great for business meetings, friend gatherings and I like how they use tongs instead of bare hands to bag them. Thanks guys! read more

At their recommendation, I had their blueberry twist which is unique to this business. It was good but not that special.

I mainly get the donut holes since they're cheap and you get more than what you pay for. Service is ok I only picked up my order so can't speak much on the service other than the owner is friendly from past experiences. Ambience is fine there wasn't anyone there at the time. I would recommend this place. They're clean and the items are good and good prices. read more

$35 a dozen and tasted stale. Did not taste like they were freshly baked at all. Also a very corn syrup taste of overly sweet. No one ate their donuts they were really that bad. Will never come back. read more

We were visiting Monterey and wanted tea and coffee and found this place on Yelp. Decided to get some donuts as well. They also have breakfast sandwiches (menu attached) Ambiance: It is a very small place and they have a few tables. My suggestion is to get your food to go. Food: We ordered donuts (pics attached) - 2 chocolate raised, 1 maple raised and 1 jelly glazed. Also ordered 2 glazed raised donuts (sorry, no pic). These are probably some of the best donuts I've ever tasted. We also ordered two iced coffees (really good) and a hot tea. Not a great tea selection so don't recommend. Logistics: you stand in line, order, pay for and receive your order at the register. It was really slow. When it was finally our turn, she boxed up our donuts and set them to the side and said nothing else. We finally had to ask about our donuts, tea and coffees. It appeared as though she completely forgot. I'm giving this place 4 stars because the donuts are great but docking it a star because of the logistics. read more

Ordered a sesame seed bagel with cream cheese, lox, and tomato. There is barely anything on this, biting into it with eyes closed you would never know this bagel had toppings. It's completely bland and flavorless. Bagel not toasted, a thin scrape of cream cheese on one side that doesn't even make a complete layer, doesn't even cover the one side from edge to edge. A single paper thin slice of lox. A single paper thin slice of tomato you can see through. I called to see if there was some kind of mistake. Nope, this is their standard. The woman I spoke to didn't care at all and said that "most people prefer it that way." No, nobody prefers it this way. She told me to complain to door dash if I'm not happy, which I absolutely will do. I'm posting here and on Google reviews so nobody else gets this disappointing surprise for breakfast. read more

Something's not quite right with the plain glazed donut I have loved in the past. The glaze recipe has been messed with! I can't exactly put my finger on it, but I think they may have added or over added (maybe a bad imitation) vanilla to the recipe? Is there new owners in the last 3 years? They have added locations in Pruned-ale and soon to open in Del Rey Oaks at Stonecreek on Hwy 68. And I hear hear they may own Danny's Donuts in Salinas. Are they on their way to becoming "The Donut King" (see Netflix) of the Central Coast? read more

We have gone twice and the staff were kind, patient and friendly. The doughnuts are fresh. Today we grabbed a giant chocolate doughnut with sprinkles. I also purchased a pistachio cream doughnut. I've been a fan of Monterey donuts since they first opened...and in fact, I was their first customer. Had my photo on thier and it was on the wall for several years. But I digress. Anyway, I think the donuts here are simply better than anywhere else, even the long established Monterey area favorite...which I won't call out...and in truth has good donuts, just not great donuts. The donuts at Monterey donuts are always more tender, more flavorful, flaky, cakes, less greasy, you name it, they're just the best. Now, they've recently moved into a space next door to thier original spot. It's smaller now, in terms of customer space...so the selection isn't quite as big as before, but they've still got all the variety you can want of regular, fancy, cake, glazed...you name it. But the really exciting part of thier change is they've expanded into breakfast sandwiches...and coffee offerings. The breakfast Bagels and croissants are especially delicious...so give them a try and grab a dozen donuts to go! Also, the staff here at Monterey donuts is always great...kind, helpful, pleasant. read more

I stopped in here while visiting the area. The place is small and they only accept cash for (I believe) anything under 5 dollars. The croissants were ok. Flakey, but as you can see in the pictures, were a bit burnt. We also had donuts (not pictured). I had the chocolate donut with fruity pebbles. It tasted stale. We got there and the chairs were on the tables. We asked if we can dine in because it was gloomy and cold outside, but was told that she's mopping so asked if we can eat outside. I have a 4/5 because I'm still trying to find a donut shop that tops Scotty's donuts in Visalia, CA. I haven't yet but I will say this place is a good second. I do prefer my donuts with more icing than these had but they were fluffy and perfect, apple fritter could have more apple pieces but it was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside! The mangonada freeze was really good too! We ordered one with and without tajin, both good but the one without was more preferred but the tajin made it taste more authentic.
