Since the change at the beginning of the year, everything feels refreshed and elevated, and it's clear the new management truly cares about both the food and the experience. Everything we ordered was delicious and completely satisfying. The omelette was expertly cooked -- light, fluffy, and generously portioned. I was really craving a bagel for breakfast when we were in Carmel, and the hotel breakfast was poop, so off we went in search of a bagel! This place popped up and we drove over, and they did have my most favorite, the poppyseed bagel! I ordered 2 so I could have one later in the week too. The young girl behind the counter was super sweet and so nice. I noticed all the ladies working there that morning were cleaning between customers and everything looked absolutely spotless. I try to support local businesses when I can. But I hate when places don't have pics of menus posted. I like to make my decision without the pressure of being in line. But I figured what would be so hard about a sausage breakfast bagel with sprouts (if they even have them). Lady rings me up and says 11 something. I'm like "what". She says $11, you ordered it with cheese and sprouts. I don't understand her so she says it again. I'm working so I don't have time to figure it out. But as you can clearly see, cheese is included in the price. So either she doesn't know the menu or I got charged $3 for 3 cents worth of sprouts, which is more than most places charge for adding bacon. I've been here a handful of times, and every single visit it's the same issue with the same employee. The coffee setup is confusing we get in line, order, then are told to grab cups and get our own coffee. But after that, we have to get back in line just to pay. It makes no sense to wait twice. On top of that, the attitude of the staff, especially this one employee, is consistently rude and unhelpful. She acts unhappy to be there every time, and it really shows. Honestly, the whole staff looks miserable in the mornings. If she dislikes the job this much, she should consider working somewhere else, because the service comes across as terrible. read more

I do believe this place is accurately rated at 3 stars. It's a very average bagel spot. The bagels weren't special. And the staff weren't the greatest. They were kinda confusing and they also did seem to have a great system. Which had many customers at different areas of the line waiting for direction or help. Let me see I had just come out of mass for Easter Sunday with my wife. And we were looking for a nice little spot to grab a quick bite and get our day going and we found the bagel bakery, not far from the Carmel Mission. It was a little hidden but worth the hunt as the place was very friendly very clean and inviting. My wife got herself the California dreaming bagel and I myself got the chopped lox on everything bagel. And a small coffee. Everything was very delicious, there were many more options for bagels and spreads that we could choose from. I myself went with a croissant and some honey butter for my dessert to accompany my coffee. Great place for a morning bite, I highly recommend it if you are in the area. read more

Whenever I'm working in Big sur I stop on Rio rd for some gas. Even if I'm running late, I make time to stop for some bagels to give the crew. There's a big parking lot so you won't have an issue getting in and out of this place especially with the fast service. There's usually a line of blue collar workers, students and soccer moms alike. I've tried a few pastries and savory dishes as well. The chicken bake is always a safe bet if you don't want to eat too much. When they warm it up for you, it's always pretty hot in the first few bites but kinda cold in the middle still. I don't care too much to neg but it's something to he aware of. I also got the pig in a blanket, I forgot the name they use for it but it was good. A different type of sausage that I'm not super familiar with, not the best but I don't mind. The pastry that it's wrapped in is second to none. Throw some mustard on that bad boy and you're ready to take on the world. The bagels are really good too. I haven't tried one that I didn't agree with. Ambiance is simple and laid back for those that really just order and take off. Not sure if it's classified as a donut shop but that's pretty much the setting inside. read more

I was in a great mood until I met the rudest employees ever. I am a New Yorker, so if I say rude I mean very rude. Asked the customer who was in front of me if they are always like this, he said sometimes and rolled his eyes. I have been living here for 9 months and the people who work in this town are usually extremely polite and kind. There are better bagel places near here, so I won't be wasting my time going to a place where they treat their customers like they are doing me the favor. read more

The Bagel Bakery has been a staple of my youth. It was so yummy back in day while growing up in Carmel. Although The Bagel Bakery has changed ownership so many times over the years, some good, some bad, I think they finally found the right ones. The bagels are once again soft and yummy. My only complaint (hence 4 stars instead of 5) is they put so much cream cheese. To be honest, it's just way too much. I mean, you could've frosted a cake with all of the cream cheese that was on my bagel. All of that cream cheese overpowered the taste of my cinnamon raisin bagel. Lesson learned, next time I am in town, I will ask for my cream cheese on the side. The restaurant is clean, and the service is fast and friendly. read more

I came here with my family and I just got a cream cheese muffin and a small iced Vietnamese coffee. Muffin was good and dense, which I like in a muffin. Coffee was good but on the sweeter side, however not horrible. Coffee reminded me of Burger King's vanilla iced coffee but I don't think that's a bad thing (i like BK's coffee). Compared to the Vietnamese iced coffee from Acme in Seaside, this one is sweeter. Next time, I will see if I can get it half sweet! Customer service was good and fast. WARNING!!! DO NOT EAT HERE! We were just in there and ordered sandwiches and I turned around and the manager's (Henry's) children were climbing on the eating counters. They were crawling and sliding around on the counters with their shoes on, and nine-year-old children should not only know better, but their parents should know better as well, especially a manager in food service! I called and I told him that if the Board of Health found out about that, they would absolutely not be happy! I'm going to try to locate the owner of this business and let them know, but we were disgusted and sickened! The sidewalks around the establishment are filthy with dog pee, pigeon poop and who knows what else. I would urge the owners of this establishment to make changes in the way they run their business--completely unsanitary and unacceptable for a food service business. 3 stars seems fair for this Bakery. Everything looks really good, but the taste is a bit lacking. We got a few cheddar and jalapeño bagels and a blueberry. About 6 months ago, I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and the entire thing was botched, so I didn't tip. Because I didn't tip, and I told the lady that she screwed up the order, she first said "Get outta my store". I couldn't believe it and chuckled. She then said with insistence, "Get outta my store!" I left in disbelief. SIX MONTHS LATER--- I figure things had changed and went in today for a bagel. With THREE employees and only one customer, one of the employees finally decided to come ask me what I wanted. One bagel with date/nut cream cheese. Just like before, do you want that toasted? No. I do NOT want that toasted. What did she do? Toast the bagel...to make it complete, she put regular cream cheese on it...again, when it came time to pay, she rolled the touchscreen around for me and watched me tap the No Tip button. At that point, she just walked away from the counter. This is a really horrible business. It's pretty obvious that they could care less about their customers. This is a prime example of how to take a great business and run it straight into the ground. Do not go there. read more

I was pleasantly happy with my "hamlet" on croissant sandwich this morning. It all just blended so well and literally melted in my mouth. I also had the Vietnamese coffee. Preferred for it to be just a smidge sweeter, but I still enjoyed it. I can't wait to go back tomorrow and order another hamlet. Sad to see sad reviews. Maybe it's hit or miss? But for me, it was a hit! I actually ended up here by accident bc the other bakery was closed on a random Tuesday. I guess it was a blessing in disguise! Terrible service today. My boyfriend and I came here on Saturday and Sunday this week. On Saturday, we had a great experience, with staff providing fast service and were friendly and attentive. On Sunday, however, we were met with terrible service. When we received our food, it was clear that the staff member did not pay attention to our order. Both bagel sandwiches had something wrong with them. We even sent one back to make it right. We also had to repeat our drink orders three times, and even then the drinks were not right because one of them was missing boba. When we paid, we were charged for something extra we did not want, but did not realize that until our incorrect orders were received. Overall, I wish I had the same experience I had on Saturday, but unfortunately that did not happen. read more

She was so rude and impatient even when we told her it was our first time there and needed a minute to look at the menu, we weren't even holding up the line.
