Excellent experience! The donuts were fresh, and the coffee was on point. What really stood out was the outstanding customer service. The employee noticed I had my hands full while putting my toddler in the car, so she kindly brought my egg sandwich out to me. That thoughtful gesture meant a lot and went above and beyond. Walked passed Red's on my way to breakfast on a Thursday. There was a Sold out sign. I figured, dang, those must be some special donuts! Took another walk on Saturday to breakfast, passed Red's and they were open. Turned back and entered a sweet smells of fresh baked donies. Service was great by Maricela and Evelyn. Haven't tried any of their selection of donuts. I walked in and saw very little selection of what they sell. I may try it next time when I come by. For the day, I was craving for some French history, which I walked a block down from this donut shop. It's obvious this place is a mom and Pop shop. Disappointed in the rude customer service we experienced today. We ordered two donuts and sat at the counter to eat them. The lady working was playing lotto and made an audibly annoyed huff and moved her things even though there was more than enough space. My husband apologized and asked if we weren't allowed to eat there. She said she had to charge extra tax to eat there, but mind you, she did not ask if we were dining in nor mentioned that policy when we ordered. We will not visit this establishment again. read more

LOVE their donuts!! I tried a custard filled maple bar and it was AMAZING! Very thick layer of maple frosting with a very generous amount of custard inside! Very short walk from the Monterey Marriott ( our hotel of choice in Monterey). The Marriott also has small donuts from Red's as part of their breakfast buffet! read more

Really excellent donuts! I also tried another donut store locally, and it paled in comparison. Coffee was also really good and they were open early so I was so relieved to have something to do when everything in this town is closed early in the morning. I had to get doughnuts for an office, this shop came recommended. It's right dt, so parking can be tricky. The girl behind the counter was nice, I had to do a bunch of transactions since was going to multiple offices that day. The doughnuts were good, nothing fancy or special, but they were good. I looked up places to go on my recent short trip to Monterey and found this little gem, which was apparently frequented by Clint Eastwood. Raised chocolate glazed - fantastic! You know how some donut spots skimp on the chocolate, so you eat only the top half like a little kid? Not Red's! Literally the most chocolate I've had on a raised donut ever. And thus, one of the best old school donuts I've had ever. Toddler loved the cake donut with vanilla glaze and rainbow sprinkles, though of course she is not picky when it comes to sweets. I didn't try it, but the cake was actually very soft and seemed fluffy. $1.10 per donut, $3 minimum for credit card. Definitely worth a quick visit if you're in the area! Delicious treat. read more

Went to Red's on Saturday, March 2nd for the first time. I'll give 3 ratings since I tried three different donuts. 1) 5/5* and my favorite I ordered was the Apple Fritter!! Just perfect in every way you can think of. Don't skip the Apple Fitter 2) 5/5* Maple Bacon Donut. Sweet, salty, and savory all in one accompanied with an incredibly soft and fluffy middle. 2nd favorite and simply outstanding. 3) 3.5/5* Cinnamon Crumb Donut. Good but didn't hit like the other two. I would eat it again but not necessarily order it again. Dryer than the other two and the cinnamon was a bit overpowering in comparison to the sugar/sweetness. One of the very best donut shops I've ever been to. Make sure you stop by Reds!!! Just in the mood to get some sweets so we thought we would stop in and try this place. It's a somewhat narrow shop (that in pictures online made me think of an old-fashioned barber shop). On their wall were pictures of clowns which was colorful and different. The woman working there was quick to serve us. I got a cinnamon roll and my husband got an apple fritter. The apple fritter was fine (maybe not necessarily as well done or crispy as he'd probably prefer). The cinnamon roll was also alright. Not my favorite, but worth eating the whole entire thing. I past by this donut shop probably twice a week but never went in due to it so good that I wouldn't be able to stop. So today I ventured in since there wasn't a line and curiosity was pulling me in. So the first donut that caught my eye was the bacon maple donut. This donut had real bacon pieces on top that was so delicious that I wished every donut came with bacon on top. The donuts were not bad, but many of them felt too sweet: the chocolate eclair, the maple eclair, the apple fritter. My friend and I got 5 donuts (the other ones were the blueberry donut and lemon jelly-filled donut), but we couldn't finish in one setting due to the sugar levels. I would recommend the blueberry donut strongly out of all of them. The price was great especially the $1.40 for each large donut (the apple fritter is HUGE), so price-wise it's worth it. Another important issue is that none of the flavors are listed anywhere. When we asked the owner for the flavors, she vaguely gestured at the donuts while telling us, so of course we needed to ask a couple more times. She was quite impatient, which makes me think Red's Donuts is designed for locals rather than tourists. It's a very easy fix, though, to have a menu board! read more

I am quite happy that these were the doughnuts on this special day because they are yummy. Maple glazed - Great glaze, tiny bit...crispy almost but not in a bad way (not underbaked). Chocolate covered with cream in it - It was okay. Not my favorite nor my least favorite. By about 11 AM there were half the doughnuts remaining. These goodies are also inexpensive.
