Went back into Paris after a long hiatus to see if they got any better. I brought a friend with me to get her opinion as well. Apparently, they got rid of their nice blend of Illy coffee and are using some local roaster that tastes terrible. Don't take it from me, take it from my friend who could not even finish her coffee. Super friendly service and delicious pastries and bread. We had a ham and cheese croissant, tiramisu, apple croissant, veggie quiche, and took some pastries and a loaf to bread to go. Not super busy from 8:30 to 9:30 on a Tuesday, so a really lovely spot to hang out and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Limited parking in front but wasn't an issue for us. The real bread ornaments on the decorated Christmas tree were such a cute touch for the decor! We usually go to the Monterey location but will definitely be spending more time here! read more

I've been coming here for years. Quality and customer service has declined since the change in ownership. Today I ordered a turkey sandwich and bag of chips. The total was $15. The sandwich didn't have mustard or hard boiled egg as it had in the past. The customer service was lackluster. I'm not sure it's worth the price anymore. read more

The most important thing is getting there early- everything is made fresh so quantity is low if you arrive after 10:00am. On a Friday morning- but the quality is amazing homemade. We have been customers at the Seaside location of Paris Bakery for many years. The service is generally great, as are the breads, pastries, cakes, and quiche. However, here's a WARNING: If you order a birthday cake, do NOT assume that it will be available when you go to pick it up. For example, I preordered a chocolate ganache birthday cake this past Thursday for pickup at 10 AM today, which is the following Saturday. Included in the order were two loaves of bread and three quiche. When we arrived to pick up the order, they had the three quiche and one loaf of bread set aside for me in a bakery box with my name on it. No birthday cake for today's birthday celebration, and only one loaf of bread (with no options in stock). Additionally, no cakes of any size in their display case -- just an assortment of pies and two large fruit tarts. Further, no one contacted me this morning to say that they could not fill the order. I would advise customers who preorder a cake for a special occasion to call Paris Bakery and confirm the order at least one day before going there to pick it up. And request immediate notification if, and when, they realize that it's unavailable. Otherwise, you could wind up as disappointed as we are, driving around the Peninsula, looking for an alternative. read more

Petit Pain tuna sandwich was very good. Nice size, but very expensive for a sandwich ($9.99). Service was pleasant and ambiance was unusually quiet for lunchtime on a Friday. Such a bummer! I went in to get a baguette and it was rock hard. I asked when it was baked and they wouldn't give me a straight answer. I asked if I could have a different one and the manager was called over- in response to my question, they replied "that's just how fresh bread is- hard on the outside and soft on the inside". That was definitely not true. The inside was stale and dry and the outside was so hard it wouldn't give when squeezed lightly. There is a lack of walkable, affordable bakeries in this area and to have this experience was truly disappointing because the bread was bad and the customer service was bad. Go elsewhere!! read more

I stopped by bakery today to get a Mona Lisa flourless mini cake. I was informed it was discontinued. What a disappointment. Everything else has bread and was not able to purchase anything else to go with coffee or tea. If I could give zero stars, I would. This morning topped every bad encounter I've ever had with customer service. One of the ladies behind the counter was very unpleasant. After patiently waiting my turn to order, she approaches me with her head leaning to one side and asks, "Do you need something?" in a demeaning tone. Not, "Can/May I help you?" as a hospitable (or even average) person working in customer service would. As a local, I periodically pick up morning pastries for the office from this location. I will not be coming back after today. Please train your staff to treat customers better. Don't be hostile. We have enough hate and war going on in the world. I used to not like coming here, bad service and parking was annoying if there wasn't a spot open. Last year or so it has been excellent, all the workers are kind, the food is excellent. Delicious classic and specialized pastries ready to go! I got to try the Raspberry Croissant and the Custard pastry. Both were absolutely wonderful. The Raspberry Croissant was filled perfectly with raspberry filling - not too much and not too little like chocolate croissants are. As for the Custard pastry, this was perfectly sweet and the custard was creamy. The sugar crystals on top add an extra crunch to the mix. I would recommend coming here earlier in the morning so you have more selection. Parking is conveniently located out on the street and there are some parking spots available along the curb. read more

I gave this bakery another chance after buying a Black Forest cake that had mold growing on it. I took it back and they gave me a gift certificate. On Monday, I ordered another cake to pick up for Administrative Professional Day and it literally took 10 minutes to get my cake order. Additionally, I was the only person wearing a mask, because I've a cold, and I can't help wondering if that's why I got poor service, and every time I go in to buy a cake it's a different price. This time it was $55, last time $29 and the time before that $39, and they all looked the same size. I think it's time to find another bakery. read more

This Paris bakery location is somewhat grimy and dirty. They had knats and flies inside the bakery cases and the girl didn't seem phased by this problem whatsoever. The cakes I purchased weren't good and honestly some of the most disgusting desserts I have had here in the states. Customer service is subpar and not that great. I came in today and I'm from out of state. I was helped by a lady named Rena and she was very disrespectful and even told my children to move out of her way when they weren't even close to her or blocking anything. She completely stopped helping me and ignored me when I asked her what her problem was. She can't even speak English and shouldn't be talking to people like that. I don't recommend going here and if you do don't get helped by Rena. She should be retrained on how to deal with customer service because hers is absolute trash. read more

My wife bought two cakes from this bakery to celebrate my bday and both cakes were absolute garbage. They were both stale, dry, and the taste was unforgivable. I 100% suspect that these cakes had been sitting out for days to be as stale as they are. Thankfully, my wife, who can make a cake better than the "professionals" at Paris, made an additional cake that was delicious and actually edible. The cakes from Paris bakery went into the bin. This locals bakery is in a more off the beaten path than its sister location in downtown Monterey. I had another amazing quiche, and a bite of my wife's out of this world almond croissant. The inventory is a bit more sparsely displayed than the main location but it was also less hustle and bustle and low key. The coffee is always decent and made well at each location. Depending on the side of town, this is an easy way to get your over the top French pastries in a less traveled location. Oh, so, I wish we had one in Reno!
