They also kindly let me walk my dog quickly through while I ordered, grabbed a drink, and checked out, which I really appreciated. Great local spot, highly recommend! Their club is a signature sandwich for a Monterey Deli. Too big for one setting. Great for two.

Best egg salad. I can eat it just with a fork or over lettuce or on a sandwich but it is always the perfect thing to remind me of home.

Used to love this place but has diffrent service. Good sandwiches if they get it correct but I wasn't so lucky.

I would occasionally stop in here to get sandwiches to take with us to thr beach. Such friendly staff who really know how to make colossal sandwiches filled with meat. No skimping here. Came by here and ordered a couple of sandwiches from the deli to go have a picnic with a friend. We had a ton of other nibbles that we picked up from another Italian market the day before, so we were only lacking sandwiches. Nice place to make a quick stop for some snacks and drinks. I grabbed a bag of barbeque chips and a coconut water for a grand total of about $5. They do not serve chicken pesto sandwich at the deli unfortunately which is my all-time favorite deli order. So I'm not able to comment on how good the deli is, but do stop for snacks! read more

The workers were so nice. I got the salami and mortadella with American cheese no pickles on sourdough. It was absolutely incredible for the price, and huge. The area was easy to find on the corner. The inside was just like a gas station type market but it had everything you need. Also tried the apple danish and the brownie by the register. Will be back again! read more

Great little market, they have pretty much everything you might need. The deli looks really good and good wine, beer and spirits.

The deli is fantastic! Fast and friendly service. I can't speak for the rest of the market, though I do think the prices are a bit on the high side, but we do pay a price for convenience. read more

I highly recommend this delicatessen! I go there for their sandwiches that you can also custom make. Today I'm having Copa, Pepper salami, and Genoa salami sandwich along with potatoe salad. Where do you go for a quick snack in old Monterey, without getting soaked in the every constant rains? We were at the Jazz Bash by the Bay along with 1000 other attendees, for three days. All the restaurants at the Portola Hotel were packed at lunch time that weekend, with long waits. And there was a run on the $10 sandwiches at Peet's Coffee at the Hotel, with all the meat sandwiches taken, such that only a dozen vegetarian sandwiches were left. Nobody wanted the vegetarian stuff. Walked 200 yards outside around the corner to Troia Market on an adjacent block diagonally from the Portola Hotel. I ordered an $8 roast beef roll, and got the wife an $8 honey turkey roll, both on a wheat roll, pepper jack cheese, with a light dab of mustard, but no mayo. Huge 10" long roll, at least 5" in diameter. Probably double the amount of meat as the $8 footlong at the Subway down the street. Roll comes with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pepperonccni, and pickle. You can also get the same sandwich on sliced bread, but the volume is much smaller. Checked out the prices of items at the store, including $2 for a 20 ounce coke, $5 for a 64 ounce Langers apple juice, $4.49 for a quart of orange juice, $6 for a half gallon of orange juice, $2 for a Nissin cup of noodle souper meal, $4 for an 12 ounce package of cereal. These prices are about 50% more than Safeway, which is among the more expensive supermarkets, or Trader Joe's. Soda machines at the hotel sell 20 ounce soft drinks for $2. Wasn't sticker shocked by the prices, as we just came back from Honolulu two weeks earlier. They are more in line with prices in New York City's midtown Manhattan. Going to have to remember to bring juice bottled in 32 ounce containers to fit in the Portola hotel mini refrigerator, along with 12 ounces of milk for my cold cereal, all packed in ice in the cooler in the car until the 4pm check-in. Would use the glasses in our room for cereal bowls with plastic spoons. Took the sandwiches back to the music concert, remembering to stock up on paper towels from the men's bathroom, so not to wipe my mustard covered hands on my designer jeans, nor on the sports coat hanging on the seat of the occupant in front of me! read more

This review is just for the ladies making the deli sandwiches, and boy are those sandwiches old school so good. We lived here 15+ years ago and anytime we come to visit, we have to do sandwiches. My wife's go to is the tuna salad and mine is the egg salad. I have not find anywhere that does egg salad the way they do, made fresh every day, right amount of seasonings, and good portions. When you are in the area, stop by. They have a quirky little market with everything under the sun as if you were at the grocery store, but you won't regret getting sandos here. read more

Convenient location with a good mix of products that a tourist or local might find appealing. There's a deli for sandwiches & good selection of booze and treats from China. Needed a case of wine recently & the owner responded quickly. Disaster averted & price was fair. I've been a customer for 5 years. Avoid yogurt products as they not top sellers & could be inedible if a customer left them outside of the refrigerated section. Anything else is a good choice, especially those impulse buys at the checkout counter. read more

The owners here are super nice, always friendly. We live nearby and probably visit the store 15 times a month. The selection is great for quick items, better than a 7/11 but not to a CVS, etc. I recently tried the deli and it was great, a bit to much on the bread to meat ratio but still worth the price. It is a convenience market close to our hotel and we were able to get a few things we needed. I will say that it needs to be updated some. They sell things from different countries around the world, too. This little market should suffice when in a pinch and need something on the spur of the moment! We came here a few times, but didn't spend too long in here. A quick trip in and out for us. While on vacation, hotels try to gouge you for incidentals or for their beverages in the fridge. So, with a little walking, we saved a few bucks and got in a little exercise! We weren't looking to eat a meal here, but they do have a deli which would have saved us some dining out costs. My friend and I were scoping out parking locations near Monterey Bay Park when we drove past Troia's Market. We circled around the block and parked in front and went in to see if they had deli sandwiches - Did they ever! We both got a Black Forest Ham with whatever they could put on. We went to a picnic table by the water, and both agreed these sandwiches were some of the best we'd ever had. I'm a sandwich guy, and I'm always scouting out new locations for sandwiches. The roll was perfect, and the ingredients were fresh and plentiful. We both often get sandwiches for our explorations around California. Solid little neighborhood convenient store with everything you might need in a pinch. Right around the corner from the hotels in downtown Monterey, or even just a few blocks from the hotels near by. They have snacks, beer, wine, liquor, beverages and some other items sprinkled in, like otc meds, firewood, and bonus international snack items. Reasonably priced and clean. Special mention to their dope ass ramen selection, bc I need ALL the instant noodles in the world. It's the life blood that keeps me going. Great place if you don't feel like shlepping it the Walgreens on Alvarado or Trader Joe's around the corner. If you need more grocery store items I still recommend those stores instead! read more

Prices are a bit more expensive here but it's reasonable for a mini mart-ish store. The sandwiches are a bit too big for me but I come here often to buy ingredients when I'm too lazy to talk to Trader Joe's (1 minute walk vs. 15 minute walk). Plus, they have some items that TJ's doesn't have. Japanese (frozen gyoza, mochi ice cream, daifuku, udon noodles, panko, arare, shoyu, tonkatsu sauce, mochiko flour, bonito, curry cubes, pocky etc.), Korean (gochujang, doenjang, shin noodles, shrimp chips, etc.), Mexican, various European ingredients/snacks, and more! In the pasta section, I remember seeing tiny star shaped pasta (similar to the ones found in Campbell's Chicken & Stars soup) and alphabet pasta (like in alphabet soup). Even if you just go to buy a snack, it's always interesting to walk through the aisles and see what's new. They also have a wide variety of non-alcoholic (juices, sodas, iced coffees, iced teas, kombucha, etc.) and alcoholic beverages. They even have Hawaiian Sun can juice, which is great for when I'm feeling homesick. The only not-so-great thing is that sometimes when I look for onions here, some of them are moldy but I don't usually come here for produce anyway. read more
