This is probably one of the more affordable places around the Cannery Row area. It's this cute little building away from the main streets and service is friendly. Both my husband and I got sandwiches which we thought tasted alright. I also noticed that they had some produce like fruits and vegetables for sale, too. We really just appreciated finding a quietier, more affordable place in the Monterey Bay Area when we visited for a day trip from the South Bay. We'd definitely come back here for a meal if we're in the area again, so I would recommend this place !

Perfect little hidden spot! Greeted with smiles by the host. Great selection of breakfasts items. Food and drinks were good. Overall great food and service.

Pretty good small little deli with good prices. The sandwiches are fresh and the restaurant has a very homey/local feel to it. I got the Rueben and it was pretty good, I'd recommend. Also a Mexican squirt! Don't see those everyday. Service was pretty quick and they do uber eats. I ordered ahead and picked up with no issues.

This deli is hidden but it was super close to the Monterey Plaza Hotel and someone had mentioned they had lunch here. There are menus and then you can order when you know what you want but the area is cramped. There is also a lot of mismatched decor and TVs and mostly outdoor seating. I was in line to order but went to get a bottled drink and someone cut me in line. The line is very unclear. I ordered the breakfast and it came out hot but my favorite part was the English muffin, perfectly toasted. My husband got the breakfast burrito and I had ordered bacon inside but it came with sausage. Maybe would try for lunch.

Cannery Row Deli in Monterey is a gastronomic destination for a totally enjoyable meal. My husband had their Ruben; pastrami, Swiss cheese, and sauerkraut. I had the tuna salad without raw onions. Our food was delicious. José, the head manager, took our order. Jessica brought us our food when we sat outside in proximity of our unlocked e-bikes. We returned the next day and ordered the same lunch. We sat inside and it was like being in a museum in Mexico, such a rich cultural display of artwork. There was a young Freda Kahlo on the wall and the "Flower Seller" painting by Diego Rivera on another wall. There was also a sign in Spanish, "Dios bendiga este negocio" which in English means, "God bless this business." Isidro, Maggi, and Gerardo worked in the kitchen. They are such a wholesome and refined crew who worked seamlessly together. I hope that this one review brings them all the business that they can surely handle! In the meantime enjoy my photos. Such a great vibe, such good people, and delicious food and beverages, too! -Susan in Santa Cruz

Wonderful service. Our son spilled his chocolate milk and they acted like it was no big deal and even brought him a new one. Food and coffee was yummy. Recommend the blended mocha.

Great Chilaquiles! Sour cream just makes the spices go away, so I asked not to have it. There ended up not being spicy. :/ But the flavor of the sauce was great. The Chicken Club and he liked it. Was confused on the process of entering/ordering/seating but the people were nice enough to just keep it flowing. The place is very cozy tho which was nice.

Half of the "bacon" protein in the breakfast burrito. The other half I tossed. Undercooked fatty and chewy gristle

I ordered 2 breakfast burritos and I'm severely offended and disappointed. The "bacon" is all chewy fat gristle. The pic I posted is only half because I kept tossing it into the bag thinking it was a bad piece but then realized that was the protein. Even the dark red you expect to be bacon is chewy and gristle like. I didn't touch the 2nd burrito. Also could use a boost in flavor. Maybe locals don't like seasoned food

Good, solid sandwiches. I created my own - the turkey was real (not cold cuts) and the greens and all the fixings tasted fresh. The rye and white bread was also good. Others in my group had the chicken sandwich and the artichoke melt. Those got a thumbs up as well.

My friends and I stopped by this deli really quick so we could stop by the beach and eat it there after! It's a quite small place on the inside but the seating area on the outside was soooooo cute and gave me such cozy vibes! I don't know how to explain it but it was cute because there were cute trinkets everywhere and pictures of family around! It looks like it's family owned and the owners were sooo sweet and cute! My friends and I ordered the Hot Salami and Roast Beef sandwhiches! Personally wasn't the best sandwhich I've had but it was good enough to fill me up and I was satisfied! This place is located on Cannery Row and right next to the beach so it's very convienent! Honestly, I'm not sure I would come back if I was back in the city since there are dozenssss of other delis around the city that I would probably rather try instead!

Haiku: La Sala's Bi-Rite Market…read more Cute deli market Famous hearty sandwiches Friendly, family-run. --- On our road trip back home, I'm so glad we stopped by La Sala's for their famous tasty and hearty sandwiches. I've heard so much about this legendary, family-owned deli and market. I couldn't decide between a hot or cold sandwich, so I got both the Meatball Sandwich and the Roast Beef Sandwich on Dutch Crunch bread. These sandwiches were hefty and hit the spot. The meatballs were savory, and I loved that the bread soaked up the juices and tomato sauce. It was my first time trying The Dutch Crunch bread. The crispy, mottled outside and soft inside made for a fun textured sandwich. It didn't taste any different, but I thought the crackled crust was so unique. Service was friendly and efficient. She gave great recommendations for sandwiches. The market was handy to grab road trip snacks. I'd definitely come back when I'm in the area.

Well after my comical round of golf that day,I returned to the shop and I truly stumbled upon a true hidden gem of a sandwich shop. I went with a buddy and we ended up getting two types of sandwiches and we split them. We ordered the Hot Pastrami ($15.00) and the aforementioned Tri-Tip Sandwich($16.00) We also got a large potato salad they offered-not sure on pricing on that. So let's talk about the sandwiches. I really enjoyed the Pastrami quite a bit-it was for sure one of the best Pastramis I've ever tasted, not too fatty and perfectly seasoned. The Tri-Tip though-that was exactly what I thought it would be-true showstopper. You ever have a food item that was so good that it almost kinda pisses you off because you now know this level exists and most likely won't find it again like this?....Well that's what this item was-perfection Tri-Tip on a really well-made sandwich. Their potato salad was really high level as well, total creaminess with perfect balance of seasonings-I could never make mine this well. Their high level of food explained why when I arrived at the little market there were 7-8 people in line in front of us. Parking for this location is all street parking as this place is truly just a little neighborhood market located in a residential neighborhood-If you blinked when driving by,one could miss it. But that doesn't stop them from delivering very high quality food and a permanent stop on my must-visit list whenever I go back to the Monterey area...You should do the same-it's great.

3.5 STARS HELLO,…read moreMEAT SWEATS! Escaping the 4th of July warzone in The City, we headed to Carmel for a quiet staycation. The Carmel food scene tends to be mid and overpriced so I was in search of more affordable, local gems in Seaside and Marina areas. And...TikTok brought me to The Meatery, a boutique butcher shop and eatery. BUTCHER SHOP Array of ethically sourced meats - amazing looking marbled steaks, pork, veal, and handcrafted sausages (Mmm, blood sausage and fermented garlic sausage!). They also have house-made sauces and spice blends, condiments, compound butters, duck fat, and more. There's even fresh dog food (e.g. beef sirloin, brown rice, and blueberries) which I bought for my dogs. EATERY Made-to-order sandwiches and BBQ (brisket, pulled pork, ribs, etc) in the hot case. House-made sides (potato salad, mac salad, and kimchi) are available in the cold case. Bottled drinks including beer available. You can order ahead online but we ordered in-person. Note: Check Toast for the most up-to-date prices; the online menu has the old prices. There's about 6 tables for dine-in. Self-serve water. Bus your own tables when finished. F O O D * 18 Hour Smoked Brisket Sandwich ($18): https://tinyurl.com/rceamucw - Requested mix of wet/moist and lean brisket A signature item, the brisket sandwich was sorely disappointing. While I enjoyed the fresh, soft bun, tangy cola-cola bbq sauce, and acidic pickled onions, the lean brisket was very dry and tough (at opening time). * Calamari Steak Po'Boy Sandwich ($18): https://tinyurl.com/yn7zsvz6 The unique coastal twist on a New Orleans classic sounded promising on paper. The sesame roll was light and fluffy, and the slaw had a delicious creamy tang. Unfortunately, the thin, fried calamari steak was dry and chewy, while the heavily salted breadcrumbs overwhelmed its delicate flavor. * Dino Beef Rib ($21.50/lb): https://tinyurl.com/j8dsxnvc Eyeing this on another table, we decided to order it after trying the sandwiches. Def the highlight of our meal - the beef rib was rich, tender, and deeply savory. Not overly fatty with a crispy bark. Light on the seasoning and smoke so the tangy BBQ sauce came through for a boost of flavor. * Wedge Fries ($8) Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the wedges were dusted with their house seasoning mix (savory w/ a touch of smoky flavor) and served with a side of their fermented chipotle ketchup. * Kimchi Cucumber ($7.50) A blend of napa cabbage and thinly sliced cucumbers, the kimchi was mild and tangy. The perfect acidic in-between bites. S E R V I C E Warm, friendly service. Food came out fast. Overall, maybe we visited on an off day for the eatery. I can see why The Meatery is a local fav for their butcher shop tho. I mean, if I lived nearby, I would be all over 'em sausages! P.S - 3.5 stars rounded up for a small business.
