This Walgreens is awful! Do not go here for prescriptions. They have 0 Customer Service skills and are always out of the medications and no one follows up or orders them. Their phone system is a joke! 30 or more minutes on hold! and then hung up on many many times! Do not try to call, I have spent countless hours of my time on hold with no one answering or in a loop of endless holding and ringing. They will not follow up on prescriptions when out of stock and will give you the runaround, I also was told my Dr canceled my prescription and also that my insurance denied the refill all of which was not true and had to spend time talking with my insurance and my Dr. What a waste of time with this pharmacy. Also, shelves are very low on stock. The drive thru is a nightmare and you will wait a long time to pick up your meds. More than 30 mins most days and any time of day or night there are long lines to the street. Sorry Walgreens I have to say Goodbye! read more

I was glad when I found this place after I moved to San Leandro. I had stopped in at the Walgreen's in San Francisco at 3 am several times over the years. I is great to have one locally that is 24 hrs. If they weren't open, the only other place would be 7-11 to get munchies, smokes or kid's cough medicine at 4 am. The only reason I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars is the cashiers are in a time warp. When they are cashing you out they look over each item like they are amazed at the packaging. Since my last review about Walgreens I have moved my business to Rite Aid. Their (Walgreen's) communicating-with-the-customer skills have room for improvement. My last experience: I went in there expecting to be able to pick up my Rx and when I got there they told me they were still waiting for insurance approval. (The Rx had been called in three days before that.) It really threw a glitch in my day, as it was a very expensive drug and by then I had no choice but to pay for it out of my own pocket. One nice thing the manager did for me is she allowed me to buy just a week's worth instead of a whole month's, so I only had to spend about $70 instead of about $300. I am thankful for that. I am happier since moving to the Hayward Rite Aid (Hesperian/A St.). The staff there is much better with communication, they are more personable and their organizational skills seem to be above par. Walgreens' could take a lessor or two from them. One other thing I have noticed about all the Wallgreens pharmacies I have gone to over the years is the lines are almost always lonnng. Sitting here waiting for my prescription for them to tell me it will 5 mins and to come inside wth when the last time I stood in line for 45 mins when pharmacy was asking for help and 3 managers standing around watching to see if the line is that serious which is sad. This is hands down my favorite store. They always have what I'm looking for and I always walk out of there with at least 5 things I didn't need or think I need. I buy everything from things girls like to have to filling my prescriptions there. But this Walgreens is special because its super big and has lots of parking. Not to mention their open 24 hours. I don't why this Walgreens branch gets a lot of flack and negative reviews from fellow yelpers and customers alike. I got to know this branch when my sister got employed by this very branch and she worked here for the next 20 years. Now me and her go here to say hello and catch up with her former co-workers and they still remember her. I go here when our local Walgreens branch closes at 12:00 Midnight and this is still open. This place carries pretty much all the candies I crave for and it's on sale most of the time. They also carry beer and major booze if you happen to on a liquor run + all the munchies that you'll need.I have great memories going to Walgreens in general and even though Walgreens is a major corporation, I'll still support it. read more

The service in the pharmacy is less than desirable. No matter what time you call you will listen to a recording telling you that your call will be answered shortly (20 minutes of listening to this recording and still no one answers the phone is not good customer service). The past two times I've been to this establishment, it was not pleasant at all! They most definitely lack in customer service. Waited in line 30min to pickup my prescription that was supposed to be ready . I was told 15 more minutes. I left for 35 min and came back. I used the drive thru this time and waited 20 min for my turn, just to be told it's not ready yet!!! Go to CVS. All Walgreens are horrible read more

The only benefit this Walgreen's has is their 24 hour pharmacy; other than that, you're better off going to CVS across the street. The drive thru is a great idea unless you get a SLOOWW customer in front of you or a Walgreen's pharmacy tech attending the customers inside the store and the drive thru window. On the two occasions I've used the drive thru pharmacy to pick up a prescription. I know I would've picked up the medication a lot faster if I had gone inside. What prompted me to write a review was the terrible customer service I got from THREE employees during the same visit this afternoon. I've worked in retail before, so I know how it feels like to be at work on a nice Sunday afternoon and having to work -- but I never forgot I got paid for what I was supposed to do. "Employee" (is she really an employee if she isn't doing her job?) 1: I walk down an aisle and spot an employee walking a cart with products to put shelf away. I politely ask, "Excuse me ma'am, where can I find an eye patch"? She doesn't stop, continues to push her cart, and says "I don't know". As a Walgreen's employee you really couldn't direct me to the general direction of where you think I could find it? Are you really that eager to be done with doing 'go backs' that you couldn't even STOP, think for a second, and even say "I'm sorry, but I don't know"?! Whatever. Employee 2: I walk to the pharmacy and ask the pharmacy tech "Excuse me where can I find an eye patch?" He asked another tech (which I appreciate) and says "It's on this wall" (points to a wall directly to his left). I walk over and find multi-vitamins and laxatives. Are we talking about the same thing?! I go back and tell him that I found laxatives and multi vitamins but not an eye patch (And why does he hold in a chuckle when I said 'laxative'? Immature? Funny that he confused the area?) So he directs me to the first aid area. I walk over and couldn't find it. BUT here comes another pharmacy tech (employee 4) to save my sanity! She shows me that it's in the eye care area and not in the first aid area. Behold the eye patch AND it's on clearance! "Employee" 4: I get to the register to pay for the golden nugget (i.e. eye patch) and a bottle of juice with a coupon I found in the Walgreen's weekly ads. I tell and show the cashier the coupon I have for the juice, figuring it would help to tell her in the beginning. She scans the eye patch and rudely notifies me that the product is not on clearance and that it is $3.99. I'm surprised and explain that I found it on the shelf at that price. She tells me that if it was on clearance there would be a blue sticker with the original price and a clearance sticker showing the reduced price and it would always be exactly 50% (the patch was marked down to $1.50). I said that the price should be honored since I found it this way. FYI: there was a line forming due to her arguing with me. She decided to page the manager; she receives a call letting her know that the manager is on break. She then tells me that she can't sell me the eye patch. Really?! I found it mispriced! Employee 5 come over and asks why she paged the manager. She explains the situation and he tells her to override the price. (Side note: there were already four or five people behind me.) She then begins to disputes his decision with the bases of the blue tag and clearance and exactly half off pricing...! OMG can I just pay what it freaking says on the tag?! He directs her to ring me up at the marked price and she tells him that if there's an audit she doesn't want to be responsible for marking down a product that should be the full price since the transaction will have her employee number. Lady, get over it and do what the man says! He tells her not to worry about it, since the merchandise is only a few dollars less and not a $50 difference. She clearly wasn't happy but did what was told. (About time!) She does the price adjustment, scans the juice and I show her the coupon; she ignores the coupon and gives me a total. I give her the coupon and she says "Oh you havea coupon?" and she finally scans it. When she gives me the receipt and bags my two items, I courteously ask "Why did it take to so long to do a price adjustment if the eye patch was discounted with a sticker?" She gave me a blank look and couldn't give me an answer as I walked away. In all, it took FIVE employees for me to leave the store with an eye patch. Five, really? How f-ing ridiculous. ANNND when I got to my car, I gave the eye patch to my bf who just had eye surgery. What did he say? "This isn't going to work." I wanted to scream. read more

I was a daily customer up until a few days ago... I went in there the other night with a friend. We purchased our items and proceeded to walk out. The alarm went off for the person in front of me....so the security guard stops me!! He's a new guy...a short little black dude. He then rips the receipt out of my hand looks it over and asks me what I have??? I was so embarrassed and the lady who made the alarm go off is long gone. Walgreens Pharmacy is terrible. They will have you wait forever for pick up prescriptions. Overheard people arguing with Pharmacy Technicians about wrong addresses and not having medication ready on time. One of the Pharmacy Technician was extremely rude. He said my insurance is horrible and hopefully the new president takes it away! How can you tell a customer that! How unprofessional can you be ? He should get fired! I feel like all Walgreens pharmacies really are hit and miss. This one continually misses, everytime. I recieved a call telling my to contact the pharmacist about my prescription. I was concerned so I called, after being on-hold for a half hour, listening to their terrible 28 second repeating message, they told me my prescription was ready. Really? I waste thirty minutes for that? Awesome. Picking up a prescription is sadistic, it's never easy, never quick. Enjoy the thirty to forty minutes it takes to get service. I get the same prescriptions once a month for the last 15 years, yay diabetes. Often they tell me to wait for the pharmacist, so they can go over my prescription. It's ridiculous. This place sucks. You can't even call them to speak to them , they leave you on hold for at least 45 minutes and instead of answering they hang up on you. This has happened on more than 5 occasions so when you have to drop off your prescription you have to wait 30-60 minutes and to pick it up its another 30-60 minutes...worst pharmacy ever!!! read more

Every time I come here to pick up a prescription, there is a very long wait. No matter of there is one person in line or ten. This place just doesn't have it together. They either need more people working or people who know what they are doing. The managent should know that they have rush hours and should accomidate appropriatly. Horrible work flow and customer service! As a preggo I had to wait for an hour for a Rx that was cell filled which should of been verified and good to go in ten minutes. I know cause I've been pharm tech for years for several popular chains of pharmacy including Walgreens prior to my baby making days lol. Pharmacy staff seems incompetent and clueless as for communication goes in getting shit done in a timely manner. Waiters are people physically in the store and should be placed In a red tote but tossed with the rest of scripts for the day smh. Worst pharmacy ever I had shoulder surgery and they would not fill my prescription in a timely manner my wife dropped the prescription off at 8 p. M. By six the next morning it still was not filled the pharmacist told her to wait an hour she couldn't because she had to pick me up from my surgery when we got back to the pharmacy my prescription still was not ready standing in immense pain arguing with the pharmacist about why I decided to take my business elsewhere and never returned.... First off, I'd like to say, that the idea of this place being open 24 Hours a day is awesome. Sadly, the way the establishment is run is not as admirable. Here's whats wrong: 1. Bad customer service/ Lazy employees I've worked in retail, and I know how difficult it can be behind the register. I feel though, that there is no excuse for lazy workers who don't seem to take their job seriously. No matter what the establishment is, workers should not work as if they are there only for a paycheck. I believe that Walgreens trains all their employees thoroughly, and especially those who work the cash registers. The service that I received on Christmas Day at 12:30 am on register 1 was despicable. I purchased a couple of gift cards, and the lazy cashier turned a simple process of purchasing the gift cards at the same time, into a long and embarrassing 2 transactions. She seemed as though she didn't know anything about what she was doing, and by the way everything looked, she'd been working there for quite some time. She ended up making a scene, and then trying to justify what she did. Fortunately for her, I had enough respect not to lose my mind on her, but I'm pretty sure some one else would've became extremely confrontational with her after what she did. All in all, that Christmas Day purchase was one the worst experiences I've ever had at any Walgreens in my entire lifetime. read more

Pharmacy tech lacked simple knowledge, i.e. I had to spell Bactrim to him and what class of drug it was so he could enter it into my file (a very common drug). Then, after my prescription was ready they informed me they didn't take TriCare insurance until tomorrow.....after I had called ahead and was told they did take my insurance. Not even an apology for the mix up as I pulled out the plastic to pay my bill. If I didn't need the medicine right away and being late at night, I would have gone to another pharmacy or waited the next day to pick my Rx up. Pick another pharmacy!! read more

The pharmacy is seriously and chronically fuxxed up. Having moved from Alameda and use to being able to drop off and pickup a prescription without wasting alot of time and enduring a lot of drama, this place is a pain in the ass. Almost every time its a 10-15 minute ordeal (after waiting in line in what seems to be forever), in what elsewhere takes about 2 minutes. Things run at a snails pace here. Almost every time when picking up a prescription the clerk seems to have to study the computer screen and write a short novel, and conduct a exhaustive search to find a prescription. Several times I gone to pick up a prescription after being notified by phone and email that its ready, only to waste my time going there and finding out they cant locate it. Also, the pharmacy is chronically understaffed for the amount of customers. There is always a line of customers waiting. Trying to get something from within the store is a half hour endeavor. Some body from corporate needs to reboot this pharmacy. read more

Do not get your Passport Photo Here!!! I recently went to the Washington Ave Walgreens to get a passport for and upcoming vacation. The picture cost me $14.00 and I submitted with my passport app. A month later I get a letter from the State saying the Photo was rejected due to bad quality. I did not have my receipt so they would not give me a refund just "points" I was left to scramble to get another picture submitted ...stay far away from Walgreens photo for you Passport pictures!!!! Save yourself the stress they caused me. Everyone else went to Costco photo they charged 3.00 and ALL were accepted. read more

The pharmacy, at this location, is the worst! They are so overly paranoid when it comes to filling a Rx for any pain meds. Instead of using "common sense" or checking to see if a person has ever brought in bad Rx's, they want to take a few days, contact the dr.'s office that just wrote the Rx and ask them if they know what they are doing. I understand Walgreen's is being more careful, because the pharmacists were filling many Rx's, for pain meds, for the same person in the same month. Which is why the co. decided to have pharmacists use "professional judgement" when deciding to fill a Rx or contact the dr.'s office before filling Rx's - if there seems to be something "funny" going on. This Walgreen's doesn't have or doesn't use "professional judgement". Any pain med. Rx they receive - they freak out and want to call the dr.'s office and they do NOT CARE IF A CUSTOMER IS IN PAIN. All they care about is calling the dr.'s office, so they can fill out a little form showing they contacted the dr.'s office - to COVER THEIR BUTT. They are NOT FOLLOWING CO. POLICY CORRECTLY. They are forcing good people in pain out into the streets to purchase other drugs while the person waits for a pharmacist to fill out a form. To the pharmacists - you are NOT dr.'s - you are their to fill the Rx's. I have no problem with you following the co. policy, but that does require you to use "professional judgement" not acting like brain dead idiots. In case any of the pharmacists from 15500 Washington Ave. are read this and are confused about the company policy, here is the portion you are not following properly: Are Walgreen's pharmacists calling physicians on each and every prescription for a controlled substance? No. Under our policy, we encourage our pharmacists to exercise their professional judgment when they feel further information is needed in order to satisfy their corresponding responsibility to ensure that each prescription filled is for a legitimate medical purpose (21 C.F.R. 1306.04). Our pharmacists may call physician offices to obtain further information about a patient. Part of that process may include verifying diagnoses or treatment plans as part of the pharmacist's judgment. Under our policy, these are guidelines for our pharmacists, not requirements. read more

My boyfriend I come here often some employees know us. Today we walked in and we grabbed a few items 3-5 min into looking for some items we started getting targeted. Every isle we went to the announcer kept calling through the speaker to check the cameras. We purposely went through another isle and they announce again to check the cameras. We got super uncomfortable yet we found it super embarrassing and shameful. We confronted the cashier and asked why did someone kept announcing each isle we went though and she played dumb she said I don't know. The lady was ringing the stuff and on the walkie talkie she said "yes he is paying it". So we got super pissed off and we were both like WTF why did we get targeted. She called the manager and she came and we confronted her as in WHY we were being targeted she said we have "no" cameras in isles?? Well she took us outside and said someone shoplifted. And we said okay someone shoplifted but why were you guys following us around announcing every single isle we went through. And that was the end of that. The isle we went through no one was with us so the fact that we were targeted we felt super embarrassed. we didn't even finish shopping and we probably won't ever be back to this location even though it's super convenient for us. It's honestly embarrassing when you are being targeted for something you did not do and for being a regular customer. Like WHY? I don't think it was a racist thing but there has to be a why. I would have appreciated if the manager was honest and gave us an explanation as in why we were targeted. read more

I left a review a year ago. I didn't think it was possible for this location to get worse, but it has. I've been given the wrong dosage of medication numerous times, they have lost my pain meds (my though my is to start checking the lazy idiots behind the counter.) There is ONE person at this pharmacy who is actually good and has a great attitude. The rest, slow & incompetent. I ended up in the hospital for IV antibiotics after it took them over 24 hours to fill a simple antibiotic medication after surgery! Working in the medical field, I understand some medications look alike but that's why it's even more important for them to check what they are doing. CVS might not be 24 hours, but at.least they know what they are doing, and I can get my prescription within 15 minutes, instead of 24 hours at Walgreens. read more

This might seem like an oddball kinda props, but four stars to Walgreen's for having the best selection of condoms and for being the only place I've been able to find around here that has non-latex condoms. Actually it seems like I can always find most of the health/beauty product s I'm looking for here that I can't find anywhere else... like my favorite shade of $1.99 nail polish or non-alcohol witch hazel. Walgreen's is also my usual go-to place to get photos developed. They've never lost a roll, unlike Costco. One more bump to five stars for being 24 hours and having a bike rack in front of the store. read more
