Sorry to see you close this store, but I understand the shoplifting was out of control in addition to the home office being unable to recover from the recent bankruptcy. Apparently this huge property will now be an empty store front. We can only hope that a reputable company will see value in this great location...just make sure you have professional security, as the thieves will ransack the place otherwise, as they did with Rite Aid. Walked into this Rite Aid hoping for a quick stop, but I was immediately greeted by empty shelves everywhere. The liquor section was almost completely cleared out, canned foods barely existed, and the personal care aisles looked like they hadn't been restocked in weeks. I don't know what's going on with inventory here, but it felt more like a store after a panic buy than a functioning retail location. I didn't even bother sticking around long -- saw the shelves, took a quick look at other aisles, and walked out. Definitely not coming back unless they sort things out. After a horrible and rude experience at the Rite Aid Oakland location, we started to go to the San Leandro Rite aid location with my family for ice cream, especially a day after the zoo. Even though this location is farther from my home (an extra 7 mins drive than the Oakland location), the people here are SO MUCH nicer and friendly. They also put on a hairnet and washed their hands very clean before serving us ice cream! Thumps up for that! Also, they make sure you'll get a FULL scoop and maybe a little bit extra. 5 stars and absolutely no sign of letting up! This Rite Aide store is on my TOP 3 favorite "necessary " store that I frequent! You might pay a bit more for this or that but it sometimes goes on sale! For myself, a few pennies here and there are well spent because of the time I save here. Need non fat milk? Yes, they have it and the best part of all is that you won't stand in a line for 5 minutes as your milk gets warm!!! No sir! The kiosks await! And if you want a little warm and fuzzy they have some really nice people at the check stand. Sorry I forget the name but this young man touched my heart when he assisted and older woman to her car. Worst Rite Aid ever that I have ever been too. The store is bare. Nothing is ever stocked. I am not sure if that is because their workers are all lazy and so damn rude or if it is intentional. It's a waste of time going there. You won't find what you're looking for and you'll end up going to another store. Save yourself the time and avoid it! read more

The location of this store is convenient for me I do not come here much because I feel most items are a little over priced in comparison to Walmart or even CVS However this store is clean, well organized and customer service is friendly They do offer a large variety of household items and there is a pharmacy on site. This has been a terrific store for several years. Great location, courteous staff, well stocked, clean... However, the last six months the store has deteriorated. I understand that RiteAid is closing many stores and has financial difficulties. This location isn't on any publicly available closure list as of June 19th, but its shelves are empty and the store is filthy. This is for the rite aid on MacArthur in Oakland. They're one of the ones that did not get shut down, and that makes them busier, and especially the pharmacy as customers from other stores that closed migrated here. I usually go at night, but it seems in the day they have an ice cream shop inside. They were very low in non-chocolate candy stock yesterday, but they have wines and liquors and there was a sale on Barefoot (I love their Riesling and their peach wine so I'm glad they stock them!). They have 5-6 aisles of wines, spirits/mixers and beer, which is pretty impressive for a drug store. They also do household items well, so I can often run here in between grocery store runs and get lots of essentials at fair prices. The pharmacy. People are nice. Staff isn't treated well imho, they don't have relief staff for breaks or extra pharmacists helping. I know this is a national trend to overwork and maximize profits at pharmacists expense, (other drug stores had walk outs, too), but there used to be only pharmacists staffed behind the wall at pharmacies, now that they have pharmacy techs they run the pharmacists ragged and the pharmacy SHUTS DOWN for lunch and breaks! Part of the reason I shop late. If you're coming in during the day, call to make sure of their lunch time so you don't end up waiting or having to come back. They are out of stock a lot, and not just ADD/ADHD meds, there have been prescriptions maybe not popular but certainly not rare that I've had to wait days for, and other pharmacies always had on hand- I guess the alcohol aisles took space from somewhere. They do text me when it's in, but like with the ADD meds, if there's demand for it and you don't go right in they'll text you that it's in but then sell them to someone else before you get there, so don't wait a day or two. I come here bc it's close to my house and they have a good selection. It's a high crime area. It seems safe -ish to me, I go after dark and so far no problems in the parking lot or store, but they do not have security here that I've seen, so keep your head up and be aware of your surroundings, and don't leave packages in the car. read more

I have been going to Rite Aid for over 30 years. I have trusted the pharmacy for many years. The reason I am writing this review is because of the excellent, caring service I received from the pharmacist, Sherwin and staff last week. They were out of stock on my medication last week and with my doctor they figured out an appropriate temporary replacement. It was not just finding the replacement with my doctor that prompted me to write this review. It was simply the care and consideration I received from Sherwin and the pharmacy staff. Been coming to this Rite-Aid since 2011. It has really gone downhill for many reasons. Security presence improved things for a while but now that there is no security there are a number of problems here. 1. Often see shoplifting 2. Aggressive panhandlers outside 3. People smoking within 10 feet of the entrance For Covid Safety. 1. Social distancing not enforced nor is it respected by some customers. 2. Staff does not wear masks at times 3. Staff does not wear gloves. 4. Ice cream is being served without proper covid protocols. 5. Hand sanitizer is not always available 6. The wipe down for carts is not enough % alcohol for killing Covid germs. 7. Covidiots rip mask off before they are completely outside of the store. If you are concerned about Covid, do not shop here. read more

Awful store. Rude employee pulling sales tags. My little child needed to pee and he denied us. He said the bathroom is out of order and the employees walk to the nearest Starbucks which is a *5 minute* walk. Dishonest with customers so they don't have to clean the bathroom. pharmacy never has meds in stock, they don't answer the phone, the only way to get an update on the status of an rx is to go in person. even with an appointment i waited 45 minutes for my flu vaccine on a slow afternoon. shame because we live super close, but had to move all our stuff to the cvs downtown. read more

I actually like this Rite Aid! The street to get in this complex is a little odd, so just beware. Also when you get into the parking lot it's one way. It could be busy on some days, but at least they have 3 to 4 cashiers to help out. When you're at the register, the cashiers are really nice too. This Rite Aid is conveniently located with plenty of parking and a small market right next door for fresh produce. They've recently renovated which has made this location more welcoming. The cashiers are always really nice and by no fault of their own, the line of customers gets backed up because they're short on checkers. As has always been the case, small neighborhood drugstores are a bit more expensive than Walmart, Target, etc but it's the convenience that you're paying for and let me tell you, convenient it has been!!! This is my neighborhood drugstore and you have no idea how many times I've run in right before they're closing or right when they're opening to get medicine for my sick little ones. They had Thrifty ice cream here. I used to get them at Thrifty's when I was a kid. I was looking around and a very polite young man told me he would get to me soon. Then he came over and gave me a nice scoop of black cherry. I was buying a Diet Coke and he took me over to the register and rung up everything so I did not have to wait in line. This place has it all. It has EVERYTHING. Plus if you shop here enough you get automatic discounts on top off the great sale prices! It's pretty organized for the most part and the Isles are faced almost everytime I'm here. Great customer service! They had the same staff for a long long time, but within the past few years it seems like they've turned over most of them and there's a lot of new staff but they are all really nice and helpful. read more

Unlawfully allowing people without masks to enter their location and when concern was voiced we were told that they don't listen to the city or county, they only report to corporate. What a joke. I never, ever thought I'd give 5 stars to a chain pharmacy. I have deleted some negative reviews I wrote last year about a couple of truly awful places to take prescriptions. This is the place I finally found for my "happily ever after." If the doc needs to be called to check something, they do it. If I need a prescription TODAY, they move heaven and earth to make that happen. I have never once been given the wrong drug or the wrong dose, but my sense is that if they made a mistake, they'd make it right. I really, really love the folks behind the pharmacy counter here. They do their jobs and they do them right. AND they are pleasant about it! HURRAH!!!!!!! read more

The remodel of this Rite Aid has done wonders! It's so much easier to navigate through the store and I've gone a couple times a month instead of going to a closer store! The guard is always by the front door to say hi, usually I say hi first but still really nice to have it said back. The cashiers a quick and friendly and the store is stocked all the time. Glad this place is still around! The parking lot is large but is shared with other smaller stores in the strip. read more

1 star only for having the only plastic pool under 20 dollars. This place I came in during the July heatwave, looking for a pool for the kids to play in, it didn't help that this place reeked for something nasty, I walked around and walked I seen 5 hr energy drinks in locked boxes. Are you kidding? I didn't see anything useful I seen in the corner of the store the pools were on the wall and I went to the front and asked someone to bring it down for me, I walked back and waited no one came. someone passed me up and I asked "Uh are you going to help." he smugly replied "I'm on my break" Ok I walk back to the front and I asked again. So no one came. I walked into another aisle and I kid you not, I grabbed a broom and it took me 10 minutes but I got it down, I walked to the front there was a long line, only one register worked, I couldn't believe this, I was rolling the pool to pay for it and the price didn't ring up. Because I was pissed off I gave the cashier another price Ha! so there. I'm not going to be coming here again, I'm glad my kids pool survived the summer so that I don't have to buy a new one. I never really went to any Rite-Aides till I met my spouse, personally I thought they were all pretty pricey... But if you start a rewards eventually you start getting 20% off all your purchases, which is really great! Self service, as for the pharmacy the workers are a little on the dingy side or just out right rude to the point where I no longer take my medications here and provided another costco membership so my spouse wouldn't have to deal with them either. Nicely kept store with lots to choose from. I have often found things here that I cannot find at ANY other drugstores. Examples: Castile Peppermint soap and straight tip tweezers! Who decided that everyone wants and needs slant tip tweezers only. They don't work as well as straight for some things. Thank you Rite Aide for allowing me to choose what works for me, not what some corporate office decides they will only carry slant and in 4 different brands only. I will often return for those hard to find items plus whatever else I need. That said, I do find their prices a bit higher, but I will pay to get what I want. read more

I've been using the pharmacy at Rite aid in San Leandro for 10 years. They really care. When the insurance companies don't care, or the doctor's don't respond right away, they always care. Even after I moved form the area, i've stayed with this pharmacy. I even nominated them as the best Rite aid pharmacy in the country!
