    Tennyson Pharmacy

Family owned pharmacy like Ted Drugs which is further down Tennyson but better. I'm currently not using any pharmacy but I pick up prescriptions for my elderly friend. Every time I would come in here to pick up a prescription I would be in and out. They are Quick! From the time my friend's doctor had sent the prescription electronically to this pharmacy they had filled up the prescription when I got there. No long line like you would see at Walgreens! The pharmacist is very friendly and also knowledgeable about certain CDC standards. She also does her best to get certain medication filled by taking to the insurance or doctors. I remember couple days ago I had that issue but she took the time to explain things throughly and made it happen.

The second place said the person who works the camera was on lunch. The third place was very confussing, I asked a lady and she said she didn't know and walked away. Someone else said that they don't know where the person who works in the photo department is. So I called this place before I wasted my time. The lady who answered the phone was just very rude. I asked if their camera was working and if I was able to take my passport photo. The lasy said, "yea" but I was not sure if she said yeah or nah. So I asked, "Was that a yes or a no?" Her responce with attitude still was, "YES it is working" That's why I knocked down one star. The guy who took my picture was really nice and within minutes it was all done. No more then 5 minutes it was all over. 4 stars to the guy, sorry I didn't get your name who took my passport photo.

As soon as I handed it to the pharmacist, her first response was, "It's Monday. I'm very busy." She seemed visibly annoyed that I had brought in a paper prescription. She then said, "I have prescriptions to fill and I'm giving vaccines, so it's going to be at least 24 hours." When I asked if there was any chance it could be filled sooner because it was an emergency, she showed absolutely no empathy. She also said, "I have to call your veterinarian because the name on the prescription doesn't match the doctor who signed it." I transferred the prescription to the CVS inside Target on Hesperian Boulevard. They simply said, "No problem," accepted the same veterinary prescription without questioning it, and had it filled in about 30 minutes. The delay wasn't the problem. It was the lack of compassion, the rude attitude, and the completely different experience I had at another pharmacy with the exact same prescription.

I went to pick it up on Wednesday, only to be told it wasn't ready yet. When I explained that I had already called it in on Sunday, the employee initially said she didn't see anything in the system and told me to come back the next day. After I reminded her again that I had called in, she suddenly "found" it and told me to come back in 2 hours and that I would receive a text message when it was ready. I never received the text message they promised. I returned on Friday, and once again they couldn't locate my prescription. After more searching, they finally found it -- but they also tried to give me someone else's order at the same time. I had to explain that I only had one prescription and asked them to verify it using my phone number, not just my last name. The entire experience was very unprofessional, disorganized, and frustrating. On top of that, the drive-thru wait was over 20 minutes. For something as important as prescriptions, accuracy and communication should be a priority. This pharmacy seriously needs to improve its customer service and organization.

This used to be 24 hrs back in the day, but those days are behind us. Their hours are still pretty generous tho like 7 am to 11 pm. If I do venture in here, I'll try and do it early am like 9am as to avoid most of the crowd and chaos. I usually stay away from any food shopping here, unless there is a sale up front like bananas or juice that I can quickly grab without going down a food aisle. There's no meat counter/section here but there are reach in fridges with some prepackaged stuff. And because this is Union City, I amusingly find Filipino products here that I'm sure aren't at other locations. I usually come here for big bags of charcoal. They have a great selection from briquets to natural mesquite to pellets. They are all in the gardening section on a massive rack. And they will be at a price that is better than most, which Walmart is actually beneficial for. I'll also grab outdoor/work clothes here. For those occasions when I'm planning on getting clothes wrecked like for camping/working in the yard/home improvement projects. The nature of the store is evolving, in that more and more things are locked up. Which is a sad commentary on our society actually. Socks, belts, even toothpaste can be locked up, and to find someone to open a case up is usually more cumbersome than it has to be. Which is why 1-2 times a year for a few specific things is more than enough for me. See ya after Labor Day when my dual bag of charcoal needs to be replenished.

The result is periodically very slow service with long lines and wait times. CVS has also purposely made reaching pharmacy staff by phone difficult, and the CVS app is notoriously glitchy, all of which compounds the service problem. A few things. first off yelp removed my initial review with my wife's account…read more We came in a few months ago looking for an abdominal brace, we asked a new employee in red shirt where they would be. he stated he wasn't sure what that was and that they didn't have any. I quickly got another employee I recognized and told him what happened. he apologized and quickly showed me exactly what I needed. I asked the employee to tell the manager this new employee needs more training, he responded that the man who said they didn't have braces was the NEW manager of the store. I was shocked. second- they are hiring all new people and I barely see any of the workers I know anymore, bummer! the original staff were so nice I prefer to engage with them not these new kids! third, I wanted to buy champagne for my daughters graduation, the employee helping me after I waited forever in line told me she couldn't carry or sell alcohol! why are you hiring minors? fourth, nighttime used to have 3-4 employees every night, now there are only two! the lines are so long often there is one employee I recognize running two registers at the same time! if you can't staff your store properly, you shouldn't be a manager, OR you should work alongside your employees like the previous manager woman did. fifth. there are always people outside begging for money, there are never carts anymore but I see unhoused people with cvs carts all over Castro Valley now. sixth. I have tried numerous times to speak with this mystical manager, the employees are always apologetic but say to give my number and he will call me. I want to speak to him in person. I went every day for a week and he was gone before 11 am that week. what a JOKE! seventh I constantly see overstressed and overworked employees, the store ran really well under old management, now it is a complete mess, and I never see any familiar faces except the lady with dreads who always talks for 5 minutes with everyone. she is nice but I don't want to tell you my life story! eighth If you really are a manger why are you never there? the store ran really well under old leadership. ninth I saw the manager one day leaving as I was coming in and overheard him telling a young girl to "make sure you ask for 10's on the surveys" that seems really shady and dishonest. I won't be filling out any surveys they give me from now on if that's how this new "manager" thinks things should run. I would not reccomend coming here as the new management seems really dishonest and not caring. numerous employees seem to be sick all the time. My wife is considering switching her medication to Walgreens because of all this and I don't even enjoy coming in anymore as I rarely see any of the regular employees just all these new teenage girl
