Walmart is not in my rotation to shop. But I will find myself going to one (mostly this one) about 1-2 times per year. This used to be 24 hrs back in the day, but those days are behind us. Their hours are still pretty generous tho like 7 am to 11 pm. If I do venture in here, I'll try and do it early am like 9am as to avoid most of the crowd and chaos. I usually stay away from any food shopping here, unless there is a sale up front like bananas or juice that I can quickly grab without going down a food aisle. There's no meat counter/section here but there are reach in fridges with some prepackaged stuff. And because this is Union City, I amusingly find Filipino products here that I'm sure aren't at other locations. I usually come here for big bags of charcoal. They have a great selection from briquets to natural mesquite to pellets. They are all in the gardening section on a massive rack. And they will be at a price that is better than most, which Walmart is actually beneficial for. I'll also grab outdoor/work clothes here. For those occasions when I'm planning on getting clothes wrecked like for camping/working in the yard/home improvement projects. The nature of the store is evolving, in that more and more things are locked up. Which is a sad commentary on our society actually. Socks, belts, even toothpaste can be locked up, and to find someone to open a case up is usually more cumbersome than it has to be. Which is why 1-2 times a year for a few specific things is more than enough for me. See ya after Labor Day when my dual bag of charcoal needs to be replenished. read more

This store and the security guards are a joke . Last week I seen a suspicious guy in front of the store walking back and forth. Noticed the guy was holding a batt on the side of his waste like he was going to assault someone or rob someone. I brought it to the security guards attention but that was a waste of time because all he wanted to do was go back and forth with me of what is legal or not . His statement' it is not illegal to carry a batt in public especially in an aggressive way! Bullshit that is intent to cause harm! We went back and forth. Do not come to this store and better yet never don't even think about the Auto Service department. If you can picture humans working in reverse or slower than zero that wouldn't even do it justice. I witnessed it taking two full grown men to walk one tire across the garage. I had an appointment at a set time and checked in early . I went and walked around and ate lunch over an hour and a half later my car was not even touched. I had to go get a manager from the department store to help me. In this store, they have a lot of varieties for halloween costumes with a reasonable price. And they re-decorating their garden section to Christmas supplies. This is one of the worst Walmart experiences I've had. Basic everyday items are locked behind glass, and there are not enough employees to help. I waited over 10-15 minutes just to get someone to unlock a cabinet. Completely unacceptable. If you're going to lock everything up, at least have enough staff available. Otherwise, you're just wasting customers' time. At this point, if Amazon has the same price, I'd rather order online than deal with this hassle. I have been to plenty of Walmarts but I have to say, this particular one is just as crappy as it gets. Decided to bring my car in for an oil change, first time. Made a 1:30 pm appt but when I got there, I stood there for 10 mins with no one acknowledging me. They looked at me and just kept doing g their thing. Finally, someone came to help. They told me it would be 35 mins so I came back and it wasn't done. I was told that they would text me. An hour later, no text but the car was no longer in the spot and was parked which tells me the car was done. Then I went to pick up my items that I ordered, I got a text that it was ready so using the app, I checked in and parked in the spot. I have been waiting for a good 30 mins at this point waiting for them to come with my order. I called the phone number and they said they were looking for it. Really???? What awful service!!! Walmart off of Dyer is a convenient place if you are going on Hwy 880. Parking is easy as it's located in a large shopping plaza. I wish drivers would heed to how the arrows on the road are pointing. Quality/Quantity - New tire and install for my daughter. This is the only time I miss the Hegenberger Walmart closure. I know it is only 17 miles from Alameda/Oakland, but 17 commuter hour miles! Which equates to almost an hour drive for me. Got here with 9 mins to spare. Atmosphere - Good size Walmart, but honestly I just came into the auto department through their own entrance. Easy in and easy out. Looks like they have 4-6 bays. Ordered her tire online and made the install appointment online, all easy/user friendly. Even though I got the first appointment today, there were still 4 customers in line when I got here and 3 more parking behind me. The team member was efficient and got us all processed within minutes (per person). Thank you. Service - 5 stars, see above. Picking up the car was even smoother, I was the only person there. The car was serviced in time as promised, actually they were done 4 minutes early. Price - $80 ish. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 1969, the world's largest company by revenue, $548+ billion. 50+ stores in Nevada and 310+ stores in California. read more

I do not recommend that anyone bring their car here for anything. I have taken my car for oil changes at different Walmarts many times without any issues, but this location has been a problem. My specific situation is that I brought my car in for an oil change. First they told me they did not have the appropriate filter in the oil change area but did have it in the actual Walmart store. Despite it being the identical filter (same part number) since it was being taken from their store shelves I would have to pay more for it. I really needed the oil change so I agreed having no other real choices. When they finished I asked to confirm if they have filled the washer fluid, transmission fluid, differential fluid, power steering fluid (all included in a standard Lube Service according to their signs). They said yes they had (the paperwork had all the boxes checked off) but I asked them to check again and none of them had been filled so after I asked they filled them. My car has never leaked oil and the floor of my garage floor was previously pristine. A few months later when I noticed a puddle of oil where my car is usually parked (never noticed it before because the car is over it) i assumed there was some sort of damage. I took it to my mechanic who showed me that someone forgot to place the washer on the drip pain drain when they drained it for the oil change. Mind you I had to leave my car with the mechanic all day and had to arrange for transportation to and from the mechanic twice. Now i am left wondering if they changed the oil filter or did any of the things that I cannot see. The other issues are that there are no customer service people available to assist customers in the auto area. The button that is supposed to call an associate doesn't actually call anyone. I had to traverse the entire store to go to the main customer service only to be told to find someone in the auto area. The staff doesn't actually speak to customers or let them finish a sentence when they are trying to explain their car's issue. I will not be coming here again because i don't trust them to actually change the oil or the filter. They could just lift and lower the car without doing anything and i would have no way of knowing. read more

I came to store to buy beauty essentials and it so happen there was a coupon in the mail yesterday for Nice & Easy hair color , one of the items I was going to buy anyways, so sweet , $9 off of 2..go to self checkout , had to wait for an override since its happen before with other coupons I've used before...going round and round with clerk, him going to ask someone, telling me wrong item, when very well item is pictured and coupon even said go to Walmart...then he finally tells me go to regular checkstand. Did that , same issue...after another clerk tries to help, she tells me I had to buy exact color!!..I said that makes no sense, you carry over 20 colors of this variety and there were 2 other variations on coupon ..system didn't reconize...they call someone higher up and she was able to override it..that person was telling me to calm down ,but I wasn't yelling, just frustrated...why didn't they call that person in charge to begin with....it wasn't til I ask to speak to manager...I'm not blaming the clerks, but they could've handled it better since that person in charge was able to override..mind you , I understand customers get angry when items are locked up, but I don't have problem with that. I rather wait a little to get product unlocked than driving to another store because product is empty. But to wait at least 20 minutes for someone to override a coupon in checkout is ridiculous. DearTeam, I'm writing to express my disappointment with the in-store pickup experience I had on May 14th. Your app shows that pickup is available until 10:00 PM, but when I arrived at the pick-up point around 9:50 PM, but the app already closed, and I walk into the store, the staff member at the pickup counter refused to give me my item. When I asked if I could pick up my order, he said, "We are closed, and I'm already logged out." I explained that it was still before 10:00 PM and requested he simply hand me the item I had purchased. However, he told me I had to come back the next day. I found his attitude and refusal to assist me extremely unhelpful and disappointing, especially given that I arrived within the stated pickup hours. Just a quick update. I rarely go to this Walmart, but we needed to get specific eye drops for my mom and this was the closest we could find them. Unfortunately they're behind one of those protected areas...ugh. So trying to find someone to unlock the shelves was hard. The folks at the pharmacy don't have keys. They don't have a call button at those specific shelves, so I had to press one that was further up the aisle and just hope someone was coming. We had to wait roughly 5-10 minutes for someone to finally have a key. I still don't know why eye drops need to be secured. If someone out there knows, let me know yea? I'm just curious. Then after getting it from the secured area, they have to put it into another container that's secured so when you check out, the checker has to find the unlocking mechanism for it which just adds even more time to getting out. They do have a self check out but with this secured item we had to wait in the 3 check out lanes that were open with long lines. *sigh* If we could check out in the self check out with the secured item and just hope that there's an employee that could help...maybe we should've tried that. But again, it's a whole process and I understand they're preventing theft, but shopping can now be a whole additional 20-30 minutes when it should really only take 5-10 minutes total if you're going in for one item. Overall, as much as I love the low prices at Walmart, I only really go if it's a specific item that Walmart has, otherwise, I just take my business elsewhere to save time. read more

I got great service from both and I would recommend this business anytime even though Ruby was not in the department she helped me unlock some stuff and Carmen had great customer service when I reach she greeted me with a smile and also was very talkative. Don't come here unless you want damages to your car. I came here for new tires installation (the appointment was a bad experience itself because nobody seemed to know anything) Afterwards I found my car is more wobbly/noisy so I suspect they didn't balance the weights. I took it to my nearby tire shop (I did not take it back to Walmart because I honestly didn't trust them) Shockingly, I found out that they did NOT balance the wrights on the 4 tires at all and in fact they were very off. Terrible customer service! Item had no price and asked the cashier for a store manager to get me a price for it. Then the cashier called over some lady just standing there doing nothing named Amber which is supposedly suppose to be the "manager" came up to me and instead of trying to help me get a price for it she straight up told the cashier "we can't sell it to them" then she proceeded to walk away and laugh about it. It's not the best but closest to home. The products needed are here and are fairly good. Though I did have a leather cleaner that had some mold on it. I let that slide since I only use the parts without mold on it to clean my shoes. What I hate is that many PROFILE me! That bald Latino guy who works there that always wears almost the same blue plaid shirt and that skinny (perverted) Filipino guy with glasses. Both work there and PROFILE ME! Some of the people are good here and I'm glad there are some people who are part of the LGBTQIA that work here and are respectful. Yeah, this place could do A LOT better w/ respect and not profiling and harassing customers just because they are different from the employees. The Self Check lanes are really appreciated. They have several on each end. If you're in need of a giftcard, they have a ton from which to choose. There's not much in the way of Customer Service on the floor, but I appreciate lower prices, so I'm ok with a limited Customer Service presence. Returns here is a nightmare on earth! I was the only person returning and still had to wait 15 minutes as the lady working the area was loading carts with returns. 9/7/25 I came to get an oil change, 3 pm there was no line, mechanic told me only accept appointments, I have to download app, find location, enter car model, milage, type oil , etc...they didn't accept me. Walmart on Dyer Street decided to lock clothing detergent. Which is perfectly fine. However five associates later 15 minutes into waiting and no one had keys. I went to speak to a supervisor at the front and she said somebody has to be there. I told her I would not be asking her if there was someone there with five other people waiting with me. She said maybe if you try the dressing rooms I think they might have keys there. I thanked her for her help gave her the cart full of goods told her she might want to help the other people still waiting and I walked away. Based on other reviews, it's apparent that this Walmart location got their act together and is a dream to shop during Covid-19. As you walk in there's someone keeping count of whose coming in and out and everyone around was wearing a mask and correctly! There is a single file line and only 1 customer at each checkout stand. All were patient and the line went fast. Saw one person opening up a package (that pisses me off) and an employee politely asked them not to do that because then others won't purchase the item. YES! That's exactly what needs to be done to keep stores in order. Shopping was pleasant!!!
