This review is for the Pharmacy. I got a prescription sent here and I am a Kaiser patient. The lady at the pharmacy is believe name is Carmen, she wore glasses, asian, told me they cannot fill Kaiser prescriptions. If this is the case, why did my doctor send the prescription there? Terrible. Lazy and incompetent. Please hire better staff. I called the automated line and the automated line told me that the prescription is ready for pick up. read more

This is specific to the pharmacy section. I arrived to fill prescriptions for my wife. The line was incredibly long and stretching through an entire aisle. What was worse is it hardly moved at all. When I finally got to the front of the line I learned why. The individual at the computer was absurdly slow. They spent 99% of the time confused and staring at the computer. She seemed to have no idea what she was doing, and needed to ask the pharmacist questions for literally everything. It was like she was in training but had no trainer. Her attitude was pretty abysmal as well. It seemed like she couldn't care less about expediting things to a somewhat reasonable pace. I provided all documents and insurance info she needed and still stood there for 10 minutes as she fumbled through the process. She finally asks if I wanted the prescriptions today. Yes! I asked if they had a couple of other items that the doctor mentioned. She looked at me and shrugged. I asked if she could find out, she turned to the pharmacist and asked, he looked confused and said "I'll check." Never saw him again. After that interaction, she stood there for at least a full two minutes staring at the computer. I waited patiently. She then glances up at me and gives me a weird look. "Okay, go stand over there." She points at the long line. I ask if she was telling me to wait in the line. She shrugged. I gave her a couple of moments to respond, but she still just stood there. I clarified again if she was directing me to wait in the line. She shrugs again and says, "just stand over at the side." So I've been waiting here next to the window for another 30 minutes with a group of other confused, irritated, and tired customers. Still no prescriptions. So, I get back in line and wait another 20 minutes, and am told when I get to the front of the line that it will be another 15 minutes. So I go back to waiting at the side of the window. Someone finally brings two out of four prescriptions, and asks for my insurance card again. I pass it over and she walks off. At this point, I've been inside the store for nearly two hours. She comes back to tell me that there's something wrong with my insurance number and they cannot apply my copay. At this point, I had lost my patience. Firstly, my insurance is current and they were provided with all necessary information. But most importantly, why was this not addressed earlier, as soon as they were provided my insurance information? By the time they finally got around to telling me there was an issue, my insurance's offices had closed for the day and were unavailable to troubleshoot. At this point, I had lost all patience. I went back and forth with this person behind the counter, who was not at all understanding of why I might be irritated over these entirely avoidable issues on their part. They continued to hold that the problem was with my insurance, and there was nothing they could do. I pondered leaving right then with my prescription papers and going somewhere else, but I decided to remain, since the prescriptions were already made. I was mad that I wouldn't have my much cheaper copay price, but seeing that my wife, who was quite ill, was waiting in the car for these very medications, I was willing to pay full price and deal with the reimbursement nightmare with insurance later. Nope! One of the medications needed to be verified by the doctor. Per the pharmacy, they have not received a response yet and couldn't dispense it to me. Now, it was not just my insurance's fault, but also the ED's fault. Definitely not Walgreens. Except, I'm a nurse at that very ED and immediately call the unit assistant to ask about it. He told me that he had just received their faxed request and had just walked it to the doctor. It was Walgreens fault - they were dragging their feet. Moments later, the fax goes through and I could finally leave with my wife's medications ... TWO AND A HALF HOURS AFTER WALKING THROUGH WALGREENS DOORS! I could have driven to the other side of the bay and filled these quicker somewhere else. If you're coming here for the first time from St Rose, the nearby local hospital, don't bother. Skip it and get your medications somewhere else. Anywhere has to be faster and more competent than this. read more

Long lines. Efficient but can't follow simple directions. I asked for the pharmacy technician to remove just the medication from the bag and give me that. She kept putting it back in the bag with all the papers stapled. Not sure what's to difficult to understand--- just Remove my patient information and toss it in your HIPAA bin. Also, use the paper bag for someone else. What a waste because you can't take a second to think. She told me to remove it all myself. That's not the point. I want to decrease me touching anything anyone else in there has touched, save paper, and protect my info. It's not hard read more

Military Tri-Care, stay away from this Pharmacy at the Mission Ave, Oceanside, CA location! It is just to busy too continue using for myself or for me to recommend it's use. I called in "a day early" for a pain medication to be filled prior to a road trip of several days. I am a 100% disabled veteran with lifelong pain issues. I am not a drug addict. However, I was made to fill this way by being told "that if I were to get my pain medication one day early it's possible that I could misuse it". She went on to say " it's Walgreens policy, even if I'm leaving on vacation that I can not get my medication early because of possible misuse". The only reason I'm at Walgreens is because Tri-Care switched their contract to Walgreens. Needless to say I'm having all my prescriptions electronically sent to the Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital from this point forward. A bit more; I put off my road trip till this AM so that I could pick up my meds before leaving town. The online app from Walgreens finally said that my prescription was being filled and would soon be ready for pickup. (For more than two hours). So I called in and was told for a quicker prescription filling that I should come in and let them know I was in the store waiting. I'm an easy going guy, so no big, deal. Right? Well 1 hour 05 min later it was ready. But, not before a man and his child was put on the same "wait board" and patted on the back then told that their prescription was being filled right now. He waited 20 min. So of course I very nicely asked what policy they had that allowed the man and child to be put ahead of myself, who had waited well over an hour. There were apologies and excuses, then I had my medicine filled next. I do have to mention that this staff was working non-stop with all kinds of customers. They are really good at what they do. The solution to me seems easy enough. Double the staff and please no favorite customers put ahead of others. Also, how about a more lenient policy when it comes to someone leaving on vacation. Yuck! Long lines in pharmacy. They need a numbering system. This allows epilepsy to sit or shop until they are called. A numbering system would alleviate the headache we get when standing in line. Just today, it took ten minutes per person to fill their request. There was only one person at the pharmacy counter. They need a different approach like something that works for us as them. read more

I've been coming to this Walgreens for the past 5 years, since I live nearby. It used to be bustling and the employees were so helpful, as was the manager. It went downhill pre-Covid. The service drastically changed and the prices have become ridiculous for vitamins and items that you could get from Walmart or Amazon for cheaper. I made the mistake of placing an online order for pickup for two small items and after not receiving a email telling me to pickup my items after almost two hours, I called to find the status of my order. After being placed on hold twice by a bored sounding employee, I was told it wasn't ready (my order was just juice and vitamins). I then received an email from them 20 minutes later saying more order was canceled and they would refund me. WTH?!? read more

This is definitely not the closest Walgreens to where I live but it had the items I needed. I came here about a month ago with my son. When we arrived, the area seemed a little sketchy but after we walked inside the store, the vibe was totally different. I walked around for a bit before grabbing the items I wanted. As soon as I noticed the checkout line wasn't busy, I immediately walked up to the cashier. I did 2 transactions: a small one and a big one. The cashier suggested I do the small transaction first and I agreed. After the receipt printed for the big transaction, the cashier reviewed my receipt before giving it to me. I thought that was odd. Although the staff is relatively nice, there is terrible communication between the staff in the pharmacy. I was told that my prescription would be ready in 15-20 min after waiting 40min and being told that it would be ready in a few minutes I ask again when it will be ready. Then I found out the prescription was already filled but for some reason I'm still waiting. 20 min later I'm finally being checked out. I understand that they were busy but don't tell me it's going to take 15-20min and then have me wait an hour, not okay. read more

I was transferred to Pharmacy when the one in Mission & Sorenson was closed. I put up with the dingy place and long lines as I rarely need to go in person, but lately trying to do Express Checkout is been nothing but grief. The software is not very intuitive, and each time I tried going to the Express Checkout line directly, the first thing they yell out is that I have to go to long line. It is as if they resent having to staff that lane. Never enough people there, and their customer service is very poor. Staff at the Mission one was much more professional and courteous. Today I'm door dashing and the Indian lady stares and hawks at me almost the whole time I was in the store. Once in line she offers another customer to cut me. Terrible phone system. There is no menu selection for the provider to call in a prescription. The voice recognition will only take you to the receptionist who then transfers you to the pharmacist, which would be a dead end with no answer after 2 min on hold. If leaving a voicemail, it only gives you about 30 seconds, not even enough time to leave the detailed instruction. It took me 10 min to call in one prescription, and I had to rush my message for it to be recorded in completion. With all the effort, I don't even know for sure if they got the message. read more

Most of the time that I visit this location I have a good experience. Some cashiers are very friendly and will go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction ! However, there are some workers who don't look too happy or approachable. I used to work with customer service, so I understand sometimes you just have a bad day....
