Not sure about the raving reviews on this place, but we were initially pretty excited to try Wake 'n Bacon for a weekend brunch get-together, making online reservations in advance. Yes, reservations are required if you want to dine-in, whether you're a party for 1 or not - the table is held for 15 minutes and a CC is required. Note that the place is counter-service, so there are no servers on the floor to assist with anything. The menu offers a mix of American, Latin, and Asian flavors; our group ordered the following: +Wake 'n Bacon Burger - beef patty, pepperjack cheese, caramelized onions, chipotle mayo, mustard pickles, and housemade bacon jam on a brioche bun, served with a side of tater tots; the patty and the brioche bun were both super dry, and the housemade bacon jam was sickly sweet - we were thinking that we should have requested this on the side +Chilaquiles del Norte - corn tortilla chips cooked in salsa roja, topped with white cheese, cilantro, pineapple pickled red onions, and served with a side of black bean mash and two fried eggs; the tortilla chips were cold and soggy by the time they arrived to our table +the Bacon Flight - comes with 3 of the house-cured smoked bacon - maple peppercorn, tocino, and Tajin; the bacon didn't seem to be rendered properly, as it was just chewy soggy fat +Ube Flap Jack Stack - ube pancake with tater tot bits, topped with a choice of sunny-side up eggs or bacon (opting for the latter), cheddar cheese, spiced maple syrup, and garnished with pickled peppers and green onions; couldn't taste the ube, and the spiced maple syrup was inedible +Maui Wowie - Hawaiian bread, Spam, Taijin-spiced grilled pineapples, chipotle mayo, and scrambled eggs, served with a side of tater tots +Purple Haze - housemade ube mix with milk, topped with ice coffee - this was more milk than the coffee and the ube mix +Rishi Masala Chai Unfortunately, the items we had ordered were just not good - I'm thinking it's just the combination of flavors or the seasoning, or both, but besides the presentation, the taste was just not there. This place was so overhyped. I was excited to try this place for months and when I finally visited, it was such a letdown. Severely overpriced and the food I ordered (Ube Flapjack Stack) as well as drink (Ube latte) were bland. I tried the La Vida Dulce that my boyfriend ordered and it was way too sweet. Normally it will print your photo but unfortunately the printer was down, but gratefully you can email your photo to yourself! If you have a party larger than 4 I would highly suggest making a reservation because there is only a limited amount of seating at the high top bar like area. Gratefully we were able to find a few seats to accommodate my small party. Your order everything online and then they will bring it to your seat.. Yo! One of the best brunches I've had. Chicken sandwich fire! Loaded tots fire! Grilled cheese fire! My mimosa and Paloma were missing a lil pizzazz, but I still got where I needed to be lol. When you walk in...reservation or not...you go to the front counter to check in and be seated. Customer service was pretty decent, not too much person to person interaction. The cooks walk your food from the kitchen and check on you from time to time which is an A in my book. Ambiance is pretty nice. The large windows provide all the natural lighting you need. Flavor however was just okay. Wouldn't be my favorite coffee but you can taste the ube and milk. Service - you order online by using the designated QR code on each table that already has its own table number. All you have to do is put your name, order what you want, pay online and someone will bring it out to your table. You can also order at the counter if you prefer in person. Service was fairly quick for a sit-down restaurant and on a busy Sunday brunch mind you. Waiters/waitresses were polite and checked up on us a few times. The place itself was beautiful. The ceiling was covered in a nicely decorated flower arrangement that matched its beautiful floral wallpaper. Tables and chair matched the motif. I only wished I was able to try their sofa seating but it was reserved for parties with more than 4 people unfortunately. And the place was a bit cramped in my opinion. Not a lot of walking space in between tables. My friends had the Baesilog which if you love this beloved Filipino breakfast dish, this is the place to get it. The tocino was delicious. We've had the baegoals, ube flapjack, fried chicken and waffles, turtle waffle, and the big bird. Fried chicken and waffles and ube flapjack are always my top dishes here! Chicken is perfectly fried and also moist + tender. Their syrup has the right sweet and savory balance! Their big bird is pretty good if you want a chicken sandwich. Honestly, this place is the perfect brunch place for when you're looking for a fast, casual, but an aesthetically pleasing restaurant. Came here on a Sunday afternoon with some friends. Parking wasn't too bad, 2 blocks down - street parking (free on weekends). Yelp has a waitlist so it's very convenient to get on the waitlist for a table instead of showing up when it's packed, you just never know. I came by here after looking up breakfast places in the Lakeview area and seeing this had good reviews despite it being new. One thing about this place is their customer service was amazing aside from their delicious food and amazing decor. There was a confusion with reservation and waitlist (my mistake) and I ended up on the wait list thinking that I was making a reservation. The young man who attended us took down our information and was extremely nice and told us to stick around that he would notify us as soon as something is available. Immediately taking a back by how cute this place is I was so glad I visited during a trip to Chicago! It is a little hard to find but if you're on the street look for the places with swings in the front. I really like this as we didn't have to linger after our food to wait for a receipt and credit card exchange it was easy breezy! For my entree I had the ube pancakes with eggs, they were delicious and filling! Normally this entree comes with bacon but as a vegetarian I opted to skip the meat and that was very easy to customize via the app. The texture of the pancakes were light and fluffy and the eggs were on the runnier side though I think I asked for over medium. To drink I have the purple Haze, ube overload I know! Which was in ube flavored coffee drink also delicious and very customizable. Even though their website advertises strict compliance to your reservation window and warns against cancellations the staff was very empathetic when my father showed up super late and they let us have a table outside of our window. That said there were plenty reminders about the 90-minute seating limit though we didn't stay around long enough to see whether it was enforced and perhaps I got lucky with the reservation as it was a Tuesday. The fried chicken is delicious and when you drizzle the spiced maple syrup on it, incredible! *Maui WOWie: this sandwich includes spam, scrambled eggs, grilled pineapple and chipotle Mayo all in between two pieces of Hawaiian bread. It may seem like a strange combo but it was delicious! The pineapple and the Hawaiian bread with the spam and egg was a unique, delectable sweet and savory combo. The Purple Haze is the drink to try here, it is a little pricey but worth it. It's an iced coffee with ube coconut milk and tastes just as pretty as it looks. Other things to note, this place books up quickly so make a reservation well in advance. When you get there, you just order and pay on your phone so it's efficient. Stopped by for brunch after seeing some cool pics and reviews on here. I think the restaurant photographs better than it is in person but still a cool vibe. They have a menu board without descriptions and you order and pay ahead of time at the counter so I pulled up their online menu through a QR code on the table. I ordered their phatty which was a breakfast burrito and my boyfriend ordered the breakfast tacos. He got his food a few minutes before mine arrived however once mine arrived it was clear it was incorrect. It had rice and no meat inside which is not what was said online. I called the server over and she said it was indeed the phatty however once showing her their own menu she agreed it was incorrect. Typically if there is a menu mistake the new dish would be at least expedited and sometimes even some compensation provided. Neither were done. My boyfriend finished his entire plate and we still had to go up and ask where my food was. Not even a coffee refill was offered. I was told after about 45 minutes they were starting to make my food and it took soo long because the restaurant was full. Not even an apology was provided. I gave them an extra star because the corrected burrito was fine tasting and they gave a large portion of food for the price but the service was horrible and I will not be returning. Service: I love how they executed their contact-less ordering system. They are not full service fyi. You can either order at the counter or scan their QR code and order through your phone! So so convenient - my group all ordered through our phones. It was so nice to just submit my order and pay/tip all in one sitting. Then they just bring the food to you. Simple as that. All restaurants should've implemented this type of ordering system, but that's what sets them apart. They only allow %75 capacity due to covid which is nice cause it didn't feel crowded. To start off, my friend from Indiana came to Chicago and she selected wake n bacon as our brunch spot for the day and it was an amazing spot to eat at. We didn't have any reservations going in, and you're supposed to have a reservation at this restaurant. The place is so decorative, beautiful; and friendly! Highly recommend their service. We had such an amazing person helping us named Mandyn. He moved around some reservations to give us a table and also sat us down with the menu, explained everything to us and made the process super easy! So my friend and I ordered the ube coffee(purple haze), Cocorazz Stuffed French Toast, Berry Bliss Crepes, and Tater Tots. Food was so so good! The coffee itself was so yummy, we got it with oat milk and it was made to perfection. The stuffed French toast had something like raspberry cream/filling, and the berry crepe has a vanilla lemon cream cheese filling. The tots were so yummy and crispy/crunchy! They were lightly seasoned and super delicious. Aside from the food being spectacular, the service was what topped it off for us. The whole team was so so sweet, and one person in particular stood out, his name is Mandyn. Mandyn provided us with exceptional service that both my friend and I almost cried of happiness. He surprised us with a free dessert/waffle for being " patient and so nice ". My heart is unbelievably so happy & full, and that's honestly one of the sweetest things I've ever encountered in my life. Not only did he move reservations to fit us in within a short period of time, probably no more than 10 mins we sat down, he provided us with warm/welcome service, and also gave us free food, melted our hearts and we were so touched by what he did for us. He surprised us with a beautiful dish and his co workers were watching on the sidelines smiling through their mask! I was so happy that I accidentally banged my head on the wall, but it WAS SOOO WORTH IT. the food was amazing, like no other, but I highly recommend going for their service. Mandyn, if you're reading this, thank you so much for making our day so much brighter & you deserve the world for that. We hope to see you again! This was such a beautiful way to start our day/weekend & you did an amazing job with making us smile from the minute we walked in to the last second we walked out. You've outdone yourself and we are so grateful that you gave us a reservation & surprised us with tasty food. Thank you for this so so much, I appreciate it tremendously. Loved it here! Food was excellent & the service was great too. They had a barcode to scan and order so you didn't have to wait for a waitress or waiter & the food was ready within 5-10 minutes (even on a crowded day). Great music and ambiance too! read more

Yikes! Where to begin? My cousin & I decided to try here for brunch on our trip to Chicago. To start, the restaurant itself is very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Cute decor inside & out. Overall the service was just average at best. We were greeted by a nice man, however you order & pay online through a QR scan code so we never heard from him after that. No one came to check up on us even once during our meal, which was disappointing. For coffee, we both ordered the purple haze, which was an ube coffee type drink. My cousin had oat milk in hers & it tasted nothing like ube, pretty bland tbh. Mine on the other hand was terrible. I'm convinced my soy milk was expired because it tasted straight up sour! I know I should have sent it back, but I always feel bad about wasting/sending food back, so I just kept it & didn't drink it. For food, we ordered the big bird chicken sandwich & la vida french toast. Both were average at best. The chicken in the sandwich was probably the best thing we had there, as it was flavorful & crispy. The french toast was good, however there was ginger in the fruit compote, which we both did not care for. Personal preference tbh. Overall, probably will not be coming back here, but maybe we just had a bad experience compared to most other yelpers who've visited. read more
